Graceembraced Rad is done!!! I still haven't read or seen In living proof but I did read the book The Making of Herceptin, a Revolutionary Treatment for Breast Cancer, Robert Bazel. The movie was based on that. I highly recommend it.

    Momto7--

Lots of us found it less stressful to just get a buzzcut rather than have big handsful of hair falling out. Others liked to have some sparse long hairs showing uder hats, etc. If you decide to cut it really short, you can prevent a lot of the very short hairs (we call them "barber hairs" falling out everywhere by using a rolling a tape lint remover roll over your head. This was my major method of grooming my head (other than washing my scalp, of course) during the hairfree chemo months.

Momto7-glad you were able to get out and enjoy yourself.

Grace-congratulations on finishing, hope you heal quickly.

Hoping to get my returns completed tomorrow before the snow starts to fly.

    Lago are you still commuting?

Stay warm and safe Illinois ladies!

Yes I'm still commuting. Lots of snow in Northbrook when I drove home. Lots of traffic that actually got much better as I got closer to the city because of less/no snow falling.

    Time to hit the shower

Grace... congrats on finishing rads.  I remember that my ROC told me not to expect too much healing during the first week because the last rads are still working.  But after that, healing really picked up quickly.

We are having a great time with the whole family still here.  Kind of crazy though.  I must say though that the dishwasher runs 3 times a day and now the washer/dryer are getting a workout as well.  Of course, it is all timed with the showers.  But, boy are we having fun.  Hate to see everyone leave tomorrow.  It is going to be real quiet around here.  I may actually be able to concentrate on work again.

I am finally getting back to my early morning workouts at home on my recumbent bike and running through my PT homework.  We have been making almost daily trips to the health club too.  Now, if I can just drop those 15 pounds that I have put on since entering this whole BC world!  Uggh!

Everyone have a great day.  It looks like we may get just a little snow shower here.  I hope the sun comes out sometime soon!!

    Yea....Grace.

Happy after holiday to everyone.  Joan...hope you have a tank-less water heater at your house with all that USE going on.  Even though we are only two here ( of course, so recently became four ) we had a tank-less heater put in before we moved into this house.  I don't know if I could handle a regular one anymore.  Got spoiled the within the first week of using it I think.

Hope you all have a fabulous Friday.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Good morning ladies!

Snow is gently falling in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. It's beautiful.

Our family is going to the Comedy Bar in Chicago tonight. Can't wait to get out and enjoy dinner and a show with my DH, DD and DS!

Have a great weekend to all, be safe and warm.

    HOME AT LAST!

We had a great Christmas with my DS and his family and then went into Tunica for a little slot play before coming home.  Our trip home was a bit nerve-wracking!  We were coming through your area about 7 p.m last night, Jackie.  We stopped for a quick sandwich in Mt Vernon and then tackled all that blowing snow and slick slush for another couple of hours before we drove out of it.  I was ready to pull over and get a motel room but Dave was determined that we were going to drive out of it and we FINALLY did.  Luckily we were driving the truck instead of my little car .....mainly because the Christmas presents would not all fit in my car.  I think he was wishing he'd brought a roll of duct tape for the ride home!  LOL

It sounds like most of you had a great holiday.  Now we need to regroup and get to New Year's!  Here's hoping that 2013 is kind to all of us!  More later once I regroup.  Now I'm off to get groceries if we're planning on having any lunch around here!

Looks like 1 more week of work for sure. Following week is a question but it doesn't look good unless more stuff comes in. Boss already took 2 projects away from me because the other designer coming in next week has nothing to work on. They loaded me up with 6 projects before Christmas break. Got a lot of it done.

Woke up feeling awful. I hate colds but once I took the Excedrin I felt so much better. Just wish there wasn't caffeine in it. Just laying low today. Hope its my last really bad sick day. DH will bring soup home shrimp dumpling noodle soup from Sun Wah for lunch. Bet that will cure me.

Looking forward to the New Year. We're alive! Isn't this great!?

Rita....so glad you got out of the mush, slush and ice that was a big part of yesterday afternoon.  Can't take in the fact that we are having a "real" winter, but as in all other times......the timing is unsual.  We are getting up to 40 or so today.....almost unbelievable, but more rain turning to snow tomorrow.  Again....yikes.

At least we are I think getting enough "ground" cold to wipe out the possibility of  too many summer bugs.  That is a good thing.

I too have high hopes for the coming yr.  Just for one thing.....I consider 13 my lucky number as I was born on a Friday the 13th.  Anything in three is pretty much a good number.  So I do hope that the year will be a very, very good one for all.

    Hugs, Jackie

Oh Jackie thanks again for more info. It never dawned on me about the number 13 till RIGHT NOW--I have mixed emotions about that number of course I did marry on the 13th--my first time, ah but the 2nd rime it was the 3rd (another 3) hmmm didn't work anyway..  Well out with the old--hold it I'm old) so not our with me but cheers for a good year no matter what the number is. Wow I remember when I was little I pictured rolling sidewalks now, cars in the air now and pets that could talk--Wait that was the Jetsons.. but I believed it. Never thought I could make friends without actually meeting them tho--so this is the best.

Good morning to everyone.  Going to be a fantastic day today as we say good-bye to 2012.  Many things that happened, some good and some not so good.  Each one though can help us grow in some way if we can choose to "see" a purpose for it.  Not always easy to do, but always amazing when you are able to become bigger than the things that feel so negative to you.

I hope everyone has had a year that helped you grow in some way, and that you found real joy through the year and through your growth.

Also I hope and pray that 2013 will be wonderful for each and everyone and that no matter what, we will all grow and grow.  No matter how small and insignificant we might sometimes feel, or powerless, we are all so capable of gigantic things...we all have the ability to smile and love and care.  So we all really have everything.

Here's to you and to a wonderful year to come.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Thanks Jackie. Nice message.

camillegal you must be feeling great. I can tell by your typing. I know when the arthritis is giving you trouble by how you type. Wink

I'm finally over the worst part of this cold. Hopefully I'll be well enough to go for Chinese tonight but the movie today is out. I have a little more of my voice back.

So everyone celebrate. Let me repeat: We're alive! Isn't this great!?  Time for the old happy dance.

Happy new year ladies. I am new to this journey and will eventually read all of this thread. I am from west central Illinois. We are In a very rural community and it is funny how there were more people in my graduation class from Naperville North High School than are in some towns around here.
