Oh Karen..........darn it all! I tend to agree with the others, that this is just a routine check on those calcifications and it is always good to get these things checked out. It's just not something we want to do at this point. Hugs to you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hey Spunky....good to hear from you!
We had predictions for freezing rain this morning. Luckily it missed us and now it is just rain coming down. Of course if the temps drop, it will be a bit slippery out there in the morning. I have no place that I need to go early in the morning so I'm not worrying about it now. Did you get a lot of ice in the northern part of the state?

Hey chgogemini, You met me today! So we finally have someone here that has bigger eyes than me! You're quite the pretty lady. Granted I find Mediterranean and Middle Eastern women to be gorgeous so no surprise there.

You are too nice lago! My dh loves your hair and i do too. You are a very nice looking lady and i think we can pass as cousins.
Thanks for being there for me today.0 -
Thanks. Funny but I thought we could could be related too. I've been told I look Italian and/or Greek before. So you know what that means. You should cut your hair like mine. It would really show off those huge beautiful eyes of yours.
I'm so glad I could be there for you today.

He said. They came. He pushed them... and they flew.

Dropping by to say "Yeah" for all the good news. Great quote today, Jackie.
So, while in Phoenix area for the next couple months, I decided to take advantage of therapy at a dedicated lymphedema center. WOW, what a great decision. I cannot even begin to tell you how good the experience has been. The therapists there do not treat LE as a sideline to an otherwise physical therapy practice. This is all they do. I had to pass an interview with the head honcho before they agreed to treat me. The MLD that I have received are far more thorough than I have ever received before. I also spend about 20 minutes of each visit with an exercise therapist and 20 minutes on a decompression pump. So, 4 treatments this week and 3 next week. Then see how it goes from there. I have been very impressed and excited about the results so far.
One thing that I have noticed at this LE center is several women who have obviously just finished chemo and preparing to start radiation are coming in for an education session with the head therapist to discuss the risk of LE, possible ways to avoid it, etc. Yesterday, one of those ladies participated in my exercise session with me. I am thinking that I wish that I had been referred to a LE therapist prior to radiation. Not that it may have made any difference, but still, a great idea.
I am feeling just a little guilty about the cold weather back there.... but just a little bit. Bundle up with a good cup of hot cocoa. Thinking of all those in treatment and dealing with side effects.

Joan good for u on all counts--being in AZ and finding some help with LE. All right here's my theory (not based on anything) I think a few yrs ack no one considered LE to be life threatening so u were just kind of stuck with it, wore u slingy thins whereer it was and doing some excercises and maybe taking pain pills to help out---Now I think they are taking it more seriously and doing more things about it and first the are trying to not make it happen, and if it does they reat it more agfressie. And obviously I can not type hahaha I learned tht when I was 17 the worst typist in my second yr. I have more quirky theories than the studies they do.

Joan~
As a former LE therapist myself, I am SO GLAD to hear that there are clinics out there like that! It is SO needed and even MORE appropriate! When I practiced in the medical world I pushed and pushed and pushed for administrators to allow me to educate BC patients after diagnosis, PRE-operatively and PRE-radiation! Very few (even the MDs) really understood what an impact I could make. It didn't happen and I had to step off of my soap box and move on. That was 7 years ago.., BC diagnoses were not as prevalent. It seems that as the rate of BC diagnoses increases, there are more therapists getting certified in LE treatment and more physicians making referrals for treatment. In the end, I'm just SO glad LE is being validated as a reality and the medical community is making an effort to acknowledge that women (& men) with BC DESERVE the knowledge..., because knowledge is power!Okay, sorry, I'll step off of my soap-box now! I am SO JEALOUS that you are in a warm & sunny place but you know.., you deserve it!!! So enjoy it!!! And DO keep in touch.., bring us some cyber sunshine and warmth!

Just had to report I finished chemo today. 16 funfilled treatments. Thankful to God I got them all in. See my new avatar for my ensemble a good friend sent me. I was decked out in pink. Nurses loved it. Took my own bell and rang in loudly as I left. It was a great feeling. .)
