None of my thoughts had drifted this way for a long time so felt compelled to share:

Have you ever watched small children playing alone in a room? They will talk to themselves, and they will answer. They will dress themselves up. They sing and dance. A small child in a room all alone can have a marvelous time entertaining him or herself. Children can do this not only because they have an innocence that helps them to rise above the cares of the world; they don’t mind being alone with their thoughts and dreams. They don’t mind acting out their fantasies. They can live their lives beyond the expectations of others. In a room all alone, children have no inhibitions. They have nothing to prove and no one to satisfy but themselves. They feel free! They are unencumbered by opinions and directives. It happens because nobody is watching them.
Live your life like nobody is watching you.

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power,
but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever
young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility
never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so
    intoxicating, as possibility!  ~~~~Soren Kierkegaard

Creative gratitude is an attitude. It is magnetic and will draw good to you. It is good therapy, a road to happiness. Thankfulness is a way of living more fully. Be thankful for your health and you will have health in more abundance. Be thankful for the love you receive and it will be increased. Be thankful for your success and you'll open doors to further achievement. Be thankful for your friends and more friends will come to you. Be thankful for beauty and you'll experience it more deeply. Creative gratitude is a force for harmony and goodwill. It brings people together in love and understanding. It is high on the scale of creative qualities to be practiced day in and day out in our moment-to-moment contacts.

Just read again that Fox news is very upset about our economy recovering......it essentially makes a lie of all that they have said for the last four years.  The very reason I don't bother with them.  No big surprise here but that is what happens when you ignore well over half the U.S. and any election you don't see as in your favor.  You end up neck deep with no where you go and no one to blame but yourself.

WOW Jackie!!! Is that an original or a quote?  In either case I LIKE it!!!  Laughing

C-Squared....I wish it was original but it is a quote.  I copy and paste and was in a hurry this a.m. and did not get the author.  That said though, I do believe that almost anything done in a positive way has benefits, and even things that are somewhat negative have a positive in it somewhere.  Though difficult, if you do your best to look for ( no matter how small it may be ) the positive, the negative seems to start ebbing and losing power.  Not sure how they did it, but my parents taught me that as a small child.

Hope everyone had a fantastic day.  Mine was great.

    Love and peace,

    Jackie

Jackie whether u picked the quote or just wrote what u thought it is always thought provoking and it tells so much about u'r wonderfully expresive attitude and bright outlook on life.

But about the kids it's so true except I've had the kind that are creatively drawing on the walls with permanent marker or painting the carpet.

There are six principles of abundant living which, when woven together,
produce a tapestry of contentment that wraps us in inner peace,
well-being, happiness, and a sense of security.  First there is gratitude.
When we do a mental and spiritual inventory of all that we have, we realize
that we are very rich indeed.  Gratitude gives way to simplicity--the desire
to clear out, pare down, and realize the essentials of what we need to live
truly well.  Simplicity brings with it order, both internally and externally.
A sense of order in our life brings us harmony.  Harmony provides us with the
inner peace we need to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us each day,
and beauty opens us to joy.  But just as with any beautiful needlepoint
tapestry, it is difficult to see where one stitch ends and another beings.

Spunky. I love corned beef and purchased it last Thursday morning.  Got so excited I made it for Thursday's dinner.  Be sure to slow cook that meat as that makes it so tender. We are having a birthday party on St. Pat's day, so we are having jambalaya because Mimi and Papa ate the corned beef.

I get on here rarely as bC seems like a million years ago (it has been about 7) and yet I never want to abandon the thread altogether.  I have made such wonderful friends here and we are getting together  for lunch soon,  I encourage you current ladies to stay close to the thread allow that special firendship to happen for you too.  I remember once when someone said on the thread that they did't think about BC daily anymore.  In fact I think about it, but not daily for sure!

Rita did a wonderful thing when she began the dialog

Rita, I can see how you and Dave might want to relocate to Florida when Dave is ready for retirement.  How we loved the ocean, the sunsets and the relaxation that Florida weather and lifestyle offers.  If I were not so close to my girls and grandkids, I would go.  But that is actually unthinkable....perhaps a condo for a month.

    Hello ladies

Well I had my follow up appt after sugery and all the margins were clear which means no more surgery but one of my lymph nodes had a bit of cancer cells in it which means chemo :(

My treatment plan is once every 2 weeks for 4 months. The 1st 2 months will be AC and the last 2 months will be Taxol then radiation and then tamoxifen for 5-10 years. Have any of you ladies had this same treatment plan? If yes how did it go? I have to go order some hats and scarves now.

I hope everyone is doing well, congrats Kristin on finishing, I will all of you ladies well.

meni33 I have not had that treatment but my reach to recovery partner is on that exact treatment. She just finished the AC part. She would have a few bad days where she was really tired but bounce back. She also had some other SE like taste changes etc. I can get more details if you like. She is not on this forum. There are threads that discuss that specific cocktail. Just remember that  some people do have a hard time with it, some don't. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids and try to exercise (walking) if you have the energy.

BTW I don't know if I mentioned this but the cornbeef brisket that they sell at Trader Joes, it's already cooked and in the refrigerated sections is really good. I had a sample the last time I was there. Talk about easy. You  just warm it up.

    I didn't get it for 3 reasons.
1.The portions were too big for just 2 people.
2.I'm having a real issue with fluid retention so the salt is a problem for me.
    3. I stick to lean red meat when I do eat it because fat aggravates my IBS. I cheat once in a while though.

Meni. I had 4 ac. 12 taxol. Ac was the toughest but I battled thru it. Now I'm on rads. Had my 9/28 today. Starting tamoxifen in May most likely. Hang in there I still had my hair at treatment #2 but starting losing it then. Shaved it. Now 6 wks pfc it almost covers my whole head. One day at a time. Zt

As I look back at the entire tapestry of my life, I can see from the perspective
of the present moment that every aspect of my life was necessary and perfect.
Each step eventually led to a higher place, even though these steps often felt
    like obstacles or painful experiences.

Yea timbek2 --  the begin ning of the chemo journey  can look like it is so long....especially if you factor in all the pieces ( se's -- side effects , ) but putting one foot -- even if sometimes reluctant, in front of the other finds you staring at the goal post before you know it.

Meni...you will have a lot of people here to help you keep your eyes on the goal and get you through.

    Peace and love,

Meni, glad your margins were clear and only one positive node. Sorry you have to do chemo, but you will do great! Did you get more than one opinion on your treatment plan? An Oncotype test? I just finished chemo and am so happy to be done! What really helped me was joining the January chemo discussion board...you may want to look at the Feb board for tips, etcand search for a March group...it's a wonderful place for support and help. Also, feel free to PM me if I can help. Best to you!

hope49~ congratulations on being done with chemo! I hope you are feeling better everyday.  I love the information that you shared with Meni!  It was such good information and you are so gentle, as you know how scary this time can be in ones journey. Smile

C-squared, that is so true.  Nothing I ever did struck such a desolate scared feeling in me as hearing those three words....I immediately thought the worst -- so glad for compassionate women who show you the road while not easy is just a road -- another path to take.

    Peace and love,
