Thank you so much for your reply. I agree about being a lab rat. I know someone who just used proton therapy for prostate cancer and I was curious about any proven treatment for breast cancer.
I have not had surgery yet for lymph nodes - was just diagnosed last week, so I am trying to wrap my head around all of this information. I find myself vascilating between being terrified and tennacious. Next stop is an appointment at Northwestern next week.

Proton therapy is used for some cancers but in breast cancer I think it's still experimental. Be sure to ask your RO or MO. Sent you a PM

Peki007..... Just wanted to pop in and say welcome. So glad that you are getting a second opinion. It will give you more confidence in making any decisions going forward. My breast surgeon and plastic surgeon are both at NW.
Hope that everyone is surviving the latest snow storm. Waving to Rita.... On your way back north. We have 3 more weeks in Arizona. I know that I will not be ready to leave!0 -
We
are all born with a belief in God.
It may not have a name or face.
We may not even see it as God.
But it is there.
It is the sense that comes over us as we stare into the starlit sky, or
watch the last fiery rays of an evening sunset.
It is the morning shiver as we wake on a beautiful day and smell a
richness in the air that we know and love from somewhere we can’t quite
recall.
It is the mystery behind the beginning of time and beyond the limits of
space.
It is a sense of otherness that brings alive something deep in our
hearts.

I have been at U of C since march of last year and love my care, love the collaboration between all the department too. Who did you see there?
Hang in there, this is the perfect place to get wisdom from wonderful ladies.0 -

Good one Jackie--I believe that my sense of humor isn't keen--it's idiotic. but it works for me.

I haven't been to U of Ch yet - I had my initial diagnosis and surgery at Good Samaritan in Downers Grove. I have an appt. at Northwestern on Tuesday, March 5th. Univ. of Ch called last week and said they would not be able to schedule an appt. for me until they are able to obtain the pathology slides to review my case. They said Northwestern will have to send them back to Good Samaritan and then they will have to get them from that point. It seems like an arduous process and I know it will all take time. I can pm you with the names I have been given there as I am not really sure what protocal is on this board for talking about particular physicians, but that would seem to make sense. Thank you for letting me know how pleased you are with them. I had an MRI on Wednesday to locate "hot spots" and it indicated they are not seeing any other ones. That was the best news so far.

I was diagnosed with grade 1 stage one ilc in December8mm. I had biopsy and sentinal node and one came back as micrometsis so i am now stage 2a.
It's very scarey but it will work out. I wish you the best.

I had my surgery at U of C. I just want you to know that the slides are your property. You can go to the path dept and get them yourself and save a load of time. I did that when I had my second opinion at Sloan, which I strongly recommend.

May the sun bring you new energy by day. May the moon softly restore you by night. May the rain wash away your worries. May the breeze blow new strength into your being. May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.

Beautiful Sunday morning. There is a sun outside. Have had so little the last week or so. I bloom in the sunshine so it is a very welcome sight. A bit cool out, and frost on all the car windows. Next week-end our clocks spring forward. Hmmm, that is a Spring signal. That will bring more sun I'm sure.
Hope you all have a fantastic day.
Peace and love,
Jackie

We are home! We had a wonderful month in Florida and now we're back to the white ground and the cold temps. It didn't take us long to realize that one month in the winter is not long enough for us!
Enjoy your last 3 weeks, Joan. By that time, the temps here should be warmer and spring will be hopefully on its way!
Welcome, Peg! You have found a good place to come for support, info, and friendship. This is such a mind-boggling journey and it always helps to have others near who understand and can offer help when needed.
I still have quite a few posts to catch up on! Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Rita,
Good to see you safely back home. Florida did sound wonderful. There are/were a number of people from just my tiny town who routinely found warmer places to 'winter', though they were for the most part retired people. Some headed to Texas and some to Florida. It hasn't come as yet.....but I imagine eventually I'll be wishing I had a little hidey-hole somewhere in a better climate.
I'm hoping for a good Spring, but you know, I really don't know what to expect with all the differences that seem to have cropped up with the golbal warming. Last yr. our drought ( we didn't know it then ) started in June and just never let up. With my kids here and looking forward ( they arrived in the start of winter ) to Spring and everything turning green and the warmth.......I'd like to think it would be a little closer to what we enjoyed for many yrs. here. Maybe we will have good fortune smile and it will be a much nicer Spring.
Peace and love,
Jackie

Rita: Welcome home! I am happy to see Key West had a record high of 85 and 86 a few days when we were there, and I wasn't missing the snow storm we got here in Peoria (except more to come this Tuesday?) I am headed back down on 3/20 for a Wed.-Sunday girls' trip with my two childhood BFF's. The three of us life in three different states and it's an annual event. Can't wait!
JOan: Safe travels back in a few weeks.
Becky: Hope you had fun in Oakbrook. PM me when you see this so we can set up a lunch date.
Lago: Congrats on the article! I am so proud of all you do!
Hello to the newcomers! Sorry you have to be in this group, but it is a great group of women! XOXO

Just checking in to say, Lago, just now got around to reading that article. i don't have much time in the a.m.s, as I go to work and by the time I got home the day you put the link it.....I had already forgotten. Karen, so glad you said something. We are all fortunate that you chose to reach out. As someone naturally somewhat shy.....I never would have so you, and many like you here are really important. I'm also glad to hear that you have learned what those quotes say so often....the more you give away ( of your time, talents, money, energy etc. ) the more that comes back to you.
So let me add some gratitude for what you do.
Hope you all have a great Sunday evening.
Peace and love,
Jackie

I stopped waiting for pay back a long time ago. I swear someone is stealing my Karma But this stuff comes naturally to me. It's not work. I love doing it.

If things are tough, remember that every flower had to go through a whole lot
of dirt to get there. So do not grieve about a bitter experience. The present
is slipping by while you are regretting the past and worrying about the future.
Regret will not prevent tomorrow’s sorrows; it will only rob today of its strength.

Jackie I like that one, thos I think I said it before Barbara did---oh and BTW I still have dirt on me.

Ditto. I really like that one too. Just hope I can remember it!

Lago: You and I think a lot alike. I look forward to meeting you, hopefully on my next trip or two to Chicago.
Becky: Can't wait to meet you next week!

OK I thought the snow might not be too bad because my heel wasn't too numb today. Just noticed it is getting numb-er tonight so right now I'd say 5"
kjiberty You're a bit left of center too

Morning,
Seems we are getting a reminder this afternoon that spring hasn't really sprung yet. Our warmth will turn into rain, then, sleet, then snow. Don't think we will get a lot of snow....2 ins. tops, but oh golly.....the rest just sounds yucky. Later on towards the week-end, back to more warmth. Sigh !!!! Missing the good old days of a little more consistency.
Love and peace,
Jackie

Jackie u'r getting nothing there-hahaha All the schoold are closed, places are closed--so far it's not to bad but it's piling up quickly around my neck of the woods. Of course sleet is awful so I have to agree with u on that one---but if we get what they are saying we'll get about 8-10 inches, dependng on location--Reember it's all about location, location, location for many things.
And u keep on forgetting tha t I am the unkinow author I should have always signed my name but I never thought all these things would be repeated so often.

It's snowing in Chicago. Heel is number. We might be getting more than 5" as predicted by my heel. Now it's indicating maybe a bit more. Still learning how to use this weather tool.
