Invest in the “process” rather than the product.  Process living neutralizes the depleting and impoverishing effects of chronically living in anticipation.  Even when impossible goals occasionally are reached, satisfactions derived from them are invariably disappointing unless the process has given ample satisfaction along the way.

Amy - Glad you found us - sorry you had to join us.

Katie - I can't drive because of the cast.  Frown  I go back on Monday to have x-rays and hopefully they remove the screw and don't re-cast it.  Getting really tired of it.  I have good days & bad days.  My chest itches a lot & my the side of my ribs are really sore.  I can feel my right TE move when I move my arm and the left one has a "squishy" spot in a really strange place.  I am still really numb on the left side & the right side is extremely sensitive to touch.  Hopefully all of this is "normal".  The last 2 nights I have had a really difficult time sleeping - I hope I don't have to go back to the couch.  Enough of my griping, how are you doing?

We got over 5" of rain yesterday but no issues - our house is up really high.  But apparently the roads around here were a mess - heard 14 & 22 were closed.  Glad I didn't have to deal with the commute but I wish I could have seen some of it.  If I didn't have this stupid cast I would have walked around the neighborhood.  Wondering how Joan did?  I know Crystal Lake was one of the bad spots.

    Have a great day!
    Jenn

Jenn I also have the discomfort on side of ribs, Im thinking it has to do with the backing material of the TE and understand that once fills are started should get some reliefand possibly due to the TE placement tabs. I am also quite numb on both sides to, this is the norm as all the nerves were severed.

I did have a small squishy part to which I beleive was maybe a bit of fluid my body eventually absorbed or even a small air or saline pocket that  settled as I no longer can feel it.

So glad to hear you didnt have any water damage as many others werent so lucky!

The sun is finnally out today, so I plan on making the grocery list and heading to the store. Im contemplating attempting to take the top off my jeep, hope I can do it myself. The sun always boosts my spirits

Our lives are full of separations that shake us up, force us to attend
to our emotional selves and to learn new ways of being in the world.
Although many of our losses are painful, they encourage our gains.
The lesson life is trying to teach us is that, regardless of the challenges
and changes in the physical world, we will abide in peace by aligning
ourselves with our inner changelessness.  The power of God in us
is more than equal to any moment—no matter what it brings.
We live in a loving, supportive universe that is always saying yes to us.

Catey - We are leaving on vacation on the 5th and next week is nuts.  I could meet up much easier after vacation if that's OK.  Let me know.  Can you meet up at all during the day or is evening better?  Let me know that too as I have my son and would need to get a sitter or wait until my DH is home.   I would love to meet up though!!

    There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the ills of the body;
there is no comforter to compare with good will for dispersing the shadows
of grief and sorrow.  To live continually in thoughts of ill will, cynicism, suspicion,
and envy, is to be confined in a self-made prison hole.  But to think well of all,
to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all—such unselfish
thoughts are the very portals of happiness; and to dwell day by day in thoughts
of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.

Hi Wonderful Il Ladies - well, had the BMX on Wednesday and got home Thursday night.  Had lots of family with me at the hospital, and the night before.  Actually had some good laughs and enjoyed the closeness.  BS was on the fence about letting me go home, but got her to give in, talking about how crazy it would be to leave the city with the Black Hawks rally.

Energy level kinda comes and goes.  Really trying to only take the hard stuff at night, and sticking to OTC meds during the day.  Hoping the fogginess and the energy level returns shortly.

I know I saw somewhere some suggestions for immediate post BMX bras, but unable to locate.  Would love something that opens in the front and is not tight, or has any underwire.  A place to slip in a form would be great.  If anyone has some suggestions would greatly appreciate it.

Glad this is over.  Getting used to how I look though.  Sigh.

Walmart does have some inexpensive front closure bras, some are eye and loop, or zipper type sports bras, they also have a low scoop one too, just be sure to buy a little larger band size due to swelling, I think the brands are jockey, danskin and fruit of the loom

Just another thought, did your PS say you needed to wear a bra?? I had nipple sparing and mine said I could just wear camisole no need for one. Be sure to ask.

BoatinGirl-so glad everything went well and you're home and recuperating. I got fitted for bras at the hospital-they were expensive, but insurance covered the cost. They had swimsuits (with foms), too. I was at Loyola, but your cancer center may have something similar.

Hi Ladies! my bmx with immediate reconstruct is scheduled for July 11th (YIKES) I am 43 and all they are asking me to do for pre-op testing is a pregnancy test..... does this sound odd? The nurse @ my PS office said well your young but your not 15, (she thought it was odd).  I am so anxious about the whole procedure it seems to be all I think about

    Hi Amy,

Nice to meet you - just sorry for the reason why :(  When I had my pre-op, I had the pregnancy test and they also drew some blood, but that was it.  I went to Dr Hansen at NW Memorial.  I also had the bmx/immed recon and did great...never needed the pain meds, just Tylenol and outside of post surgery nausea, it was not bad at all.  I was so scared because I had never been in the hospital or even really sick before, so I had no idea what to expect and was so afraid of being put under, but it was all fine.  I'm very local to you, in Bartlett, so feel free to PM me if you have any questions or want to talk.

catey, amy, mdg, I'd love to meet up when you all get together...in July, I'll be around the week of the 22nd and early the week of the 29th (exchange surgery is 7/31).  I'd love to join you if I can.
