aaoaao--
I'm not aware of a lot of postings (at least recently) from stage IV folks, but there may well be folks listening in without posting. You are welcome here. I'm glad you found us.
Virginia (Stage II and mostly a lurker myself, but I read this board almost every day and am helped a lot by it.)

Joanne_53,
Tuesday is a maybe for me. I will have nipple reconstruction and tatooing the day before which is minor surgery, but I have trouble recovering from anaesthesia. Trying to decide if I should return to work on Tues or take the day off.

Hello fellow Illinois Ladies,
sorry I havnt been posting lately although I have taken a few minutes each day to read posts. The last week or so has been busy with a lot of miscellaneous stuff that I had been putting off and couldnt anymore as much as I wanted to . In addition with my youngest son home from college for the summer and his friends coming to visit/eat (our house has always been the place they congregate) been out of the house and enjoying the outdoors.
Hope everyone had a wonderful time over the 4th.
Without going back thru all the threads, when and where is everyone planning on getting together?
Also had my follow up appt with BS and he has referred me for physical therapy for range of motion before I go back to work which originally scheduled for 7/15 (6wks Post op) but now rescheduled to 7/29 (8 weeks). To be honest Im glad he did as my job is physically demanding lifting/repetitive motion, etc. Besides its been years since Ive had time off and in the summer to boot!!! Now if they would only allow me to go swimming.
Amy- on a side note the Traveling Pink Shirt is on its way to you.

I'm running really late today.....had to make a trip to Marion, Ill early today and they turn into all day trips. Hope I don't give you those ugly terrible marks on the quote.
Welcome, welcome aaoaaao hope I didn't get that too far off.
I promise to keep on living as though I expected to live forever. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old only by deserting their ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest wrinkles the soul.

I finally emailed out the master contact list. If you provided me with an email, etc., you should be receive it. If you did not get it, just send me a PM and let me know.
Doxie... good luck with your nipple reconstruction and tatooing next week. I am still on the fence with that stuff, but seiously considering the 3D tatoos. Just enjoying a break from doctors, etc for awhile. I love summer, but not this kind of humidity! Hope that everyone is doing well.

Thank you Joan. I want some symmetry. Would like to look in the mirror and not see a missing nipple on my BC breast. If I needed nipples on both, I would definitely do 3D tatoos w/o question.

Doxie can you take Emmend. If you get bad nausea with anesthesia ask for it or something else. I don't know what they gave me the 3rd time under general but it was a breeze. No nausea. I know they gave Invisible Emmend and she had no issues.

Doxie. Ive also had problems with neausea from anesthesia and for my last 2 surgeries the have given me an anti-n patch to put on day before surgery in addition to something in IV at surgery and its worked wonders. Ask you Dr

I had the patch after my exchange. It was awful. Not only was I still a bit nauseous but it made me so dry I had trouble swallowing. Had to drink water with every bit.

Thanks for the suggestions. My problem is an overall feeling of being unwell and a need to sleep for days. I don't know that I've ever specifically felt nausea. Hope it won't happen this time.

I understand. It also takes my digestive system at least a month to recover from general anesthesia (local no issues at all). But its not as bad as the nausea. Maybe they are giving you too much.
Hope you get lucky this time and they can figure out what's causing it.

lago, It could be I'm getting too much. Right before going under for my SLN and better margins surgery, I remember the attending telling the resident, "Now remember that she is small."

I saw something really special this afternoon....I hope I can put it in here without all the strange marks. I would have saved it for tomorrow, but was thinking -- knowing me, I'll see something else so I hope it speaks to you as much as it did to me.
Elder's Meditation of the Day - June 29 "We forget so we consider ourselves superior. But we are, after all, a mere part of the creation and we must consider to understand where we are and we stand somewhere between the mountain and the Ant. Somewhere and only there is a part and parcel of the creation." -- Chief Oren Lyons, ONONDAGA Every human being gathers information from the center of a circle. If we are not careful, we soon think we are the center of all things. Therefore, it is easy to become self centered. Once we become self centered we start to think we are above all things and therefore superior. But we are really only one part of a great whole. The universe is all connected. Each part is here to do something special and according to its design. We are here to honor and respect the job of each part. We are neither above nor below anything. We need not be ruler over anything, we need only to live in honor and harmony with the system.
Sorry....looks already like I'm stuck with the marks. so sorry,
Jackie

Once again, I apologize for all those horrid marks above, but was so taken with the information that I went ahead knowing it would probably happen. We are getting rain again today. This spring/summer has been so different so far. Due to being on a septic system we have had the plumbers out twice....but the seepage out of the system is so much slower to the overall ground saturation level that it SEEMS we have issues when we don't. As Gilda Radner would say....its always something.
I hope you all have a fantastic day. The quote for today just yells to me.....what you can confront totally you can do so much about and maybe even completely fix. Sometimes the fix may not be what we would hope for....but it is the right fix. That is something of a comfort to me.
Peace and love

It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble; how hopeless the outlook; how muddled the tangle; how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the world.

Hi. Can I be added? I'm in Chicago.
Thanks.0 -
Dancing Veggie--welcome to this wonderful place. Seems a lot of gals are being a bit quiet, and that happens. There are numbers of the women here who wanted nothing more than to make this a shared journey with the hope of making it an easier one. We get by with a little help from our friends....as the song says. So hope you will keep coming back. We laugh, cry, moan and groan about things, do a total vent or melt-down.....all in the safe area of those who know exactly why and don't question...just offer open willing arms to hugs and shoulders to lean on.
Beautiful day here....sounds like the humidity has dropped.....very, very welcome. Could be raining in the Chicago area --not sure about the weather map this a.m. Hope you all have a really great Thursday though.
Peace and love,
Jackie

No one is happy or free who lives only for him or herself. Joy in living comes from immersion in something one recognizes to be bigger, better, worthier, more enduring than his or her own self. True happiness and true freedom come from squandering one’s self for a purpose.

Welcome, DancingVeggie. Of you mean added to our IL Ladies contact list, certainly you can be added. Just PM me with your real name, email address, home address, and phone. If there is anyone else (lurkers included) that I missed just send me a PM. We do have some get togethers once in a while and it may help you to be able to contact others living near you.
Tis certainly is a quiet group the past couple days. That may be good news that everyone is doing well and staying busy. My DH went back to SD for his high school reunion this weekend. I managed to convince him to let me stay home. It is going to be 100 degrees there and since going through chemo and all, I really do not do well with heat like that. Used to love it, but not anymore. And it is definitely not good for my LE which I have managed to get well under control.
I went through my chemo 3 years ago this summer so I often think about those going through it now. Prayers for everyone.0 -
DancingVeggie- Welcome to the group, be sure to add to your favorite topics
Just got home a little while ago from my first fill, only 50cc each and have to say didnt feel needle and just slight discomfort. My PS just recently had knee replacement so he no doubt understands the pain we go thru. He only took a very short time off work and hes on his feet all day, gotta love him.
SIL and family friend are coming up for a visit this weekend, so should be fun.
Next week planning to go up to Lake Geneva topless (on the jeep) with a girlfriend for the day cant wait.
Hugs to All, hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather

Hi DancingVeggie I'm in Chicago too, in LP hood. Where are you? Saturday makes 3 years since my "offical" diagosis. Notice the date is the 13th. I'm going to play the lottery.

Take care to see that you don’t lose sight of the one thing that is constant, beautiful, and true: Everything will be fine—and it will turn out that way because of the special kind of person you are. So, beginning today and lasting a lifetime through, hang in there, and don’t be afraid to feel like the sun is shining just for you.

The person above ( quote ) is one of my favorites. I was in a class many, many years ago now and one of the things that I learned there was in order to solve any problem, the first thing you should do was reduce it down to the lowest common denominator you could. I think Eckhart Tolle does that beautifully.
Saturday out of my little office window looks fabulous. Sunny -- not too hot, and I'm hoping that it is just the way the day progresses.
Hope all of you have a great Saturday as well.
Peace and love

Introspection enables one to be free from the influence of negativity. Introspection means
the desire to be good. Introspection brings the ability to look within and see the true self
in the mirror of the heart, thus enabling one to activate the inner spirituality. Then all
effort made will be towards activating this inherent goodness. And slowly one finds that
the behaviour associated with negative traits are no more expressed, as they begin to
lose their hold. When I am able to introspect and look within, I can find the goodness
that is there within me. Because of this, I naturally am free from expectations from others
that they should recognise my goodness or consider me good. Instead I find myself
content with what I am and continue to bring out the best from within me.
I continue to learn from all situations and experience progress.Brahma Kumaris

Our Chicago trip starts tomorrow morning. Lago are we still on for Tuesday dinner? I have your cell and you mine. I think we are going to get the Hop on pass which is good for 3 days. We will do the sea dog on Wednesday afternoon. I know there is so much to see but it is a start and we will have to come back.
