    Welcome Angel and LindaDK!
There's a wonderful group of women here to support you through this. Angel, my port is round and sits right below my clavical, which is fine most of the time; but if I lift my arm, it seems to come too close and is a little painful.

Day #6! Yeah!!!!! Still feeling pretty good all things considered. I did have to crank up the Senekot.
I hope I continue to feel like this. Karen, I had also looked in at the Jan site and it did seem like their 1st tx may have been easier than the 2nd. But I'm going to think positively.

I'm still drinking lots and lots of water and trying to eat small portions and almost completely organic, simple foods. Organic choc chip cookies are ok, aren't they? ah... the simple pleasures.

    love to you all,
    Linnie

It looks like you and I will be starting chemo on the same day. Feb 22nd. I start at 10:00 am and hope to be out of there by 2:00. I just want to get this over with. I am not going to get any special foods right now. Just going to wait and see what I Crave. Seems like everyone is different. I am doing dose dense. 4 rounds of AC every two weeks then 4 rounds of taxol.

    Hi Ladies---

Guess you can add me, too. I get the port put in on Tue 2/13, and start chemo on the 14th...a little extra emotion (on top of everything else) because it's the 18th anniversary of when we buried my half-brother (cancer, age 34). Hopefully he knows what's going down, and is sending healing energy though the twilight zone....

I've got tons of questions, a little fear, and need to read all the posts...cause the answers are probably there! Good luck and wishes to all....

Hi Freethought:) Welcome to the club that no one wants to join. Now that you're here tho, you will find much strength and sisterhood. Since I'm still online, I will update the list now.

I'm sure your brother is with you and watching over you.

Please dont hesitate to ask your questions. I was amazed by how much I learned in such a short time. Knowledge is power and with power you can do it! I have my MUGA scan tomorrow, then meet with my Onc on Wednesday to firm up my chemo start date. It may be the end of this week, first part of next. So see, I might have some questions for you;)

    Take good care.

    Hey Everyone!!
Got chemo #1 Thursday, today is day #3 post chemo. I feel really good, considering the first day, which sucked. Eating a lot of 'caldo', which is Mexican soup, Chicken with big pieces of vegatables. We have a favorite rest. next door that serves it all day. Kind of a Mexican twist on an old Jewish dish!!!
Hope tomorrow will be better, if the rain would clear out, I'd be down by the water for sure.
Thinking I can almost see the end of this road, 1/4 the way through it!!! Thinking more about getting back to work.
    Yea~~~~
Lulu, don't stress the mediport. Mine was just tender for a few days and pulled when I took my bra on and off. I've had worse through all this for sure. I have a mediport manufactured by Bard. It worked like a charm too for chemo. They can do blood draws as well. The skin has to be pierced to access it, but no big deal. So much better than digging around looking for a vein.
Hugs to everyone, happy to answer any questions if I might be able to help.
    Love, Tracy

Hi all! I've been reading, but not saying much - still in shock that I belong here, I swear! I can't believe how long the "passenger" list is on this cruise already! I am more amazed every day how many of us are affected by this.

I am just starting day 6 post tx - having had my 1st last Tuesday. It's 4:25am - and I am wide awake darn it~! I have not had it bad, the first day - just tired from all the nausea meds. Honestly, I just wanted to sleep until this whole ordeal of chemo was over! But I do feel differently now thank goodness! The days following have not been bad - only queaziness I really had was when I was ON the nausea meds. Yesterday - my best day yet! DH actually "let" me drive to my barn so I could play with my horse - what a treat! Yes, thanks to treats, he still remembers me! (Haven't seen him in a week)

My head has been kind of numb for a couple of days, and last night when I took my shower, yes - a few hair are now starting to come out! OMG! I think that is the hardest right now for me - realizing that it really IS going to come out! Yikes! I do have a wig, but honestly, I don't know HOW I am actually going to WEAR it in public! My DH and good friend went with me to get it out and they love it, so hopefully I can do it!

I am not a homebody - I am lucky that I only have to work a couple of days a week for my DH, but I am a very busy gal. This week however, as long as I feel as good as I did Sunday, I will be cleaning and preparing the house to go on the market next week!

Thanks for letting me vent - thanks for all who are here and sharing - it means a lot to share this with others!

Good luck to all this coming week! Jen

Good morning fellow chemo cruisers.....starting to feel like my old self. Had spagetti and meatballs yesterday, yummmmm. Really I think the first few days (4-5) are the icky ones with nothing sounding appetizing and cravings for certain type foods.

Good luck to all those starting their chemo this week. And welcome to all those just joining us, Freethought, Linda DK, Angel, Steph, and Lynn.

Carynn thanks for keeping the list up for us. swimminMOM is actually Karen (Sween) and Linnie changed her name to VAgirl. There is some concern about googling our screen names and all our posts coming up. I left mine since it is my first name and middle and last initial.

Tracy, I have the power port also and it is great. And LuLu you will be relieved when that is put in and used, so much easier than arm sticks. I have small veins and seems like they always had to stick me twice.

Everyone have a great day.....we can do this.....one day at a time...........Hugs all around, Marsha

    HI Guys,
Well, I start chemo this Thurs 2/15 - what a great Valentines gift, huh? I am going back to work today after being off for 3 weeks. I was diganosed on 1/24 and had my lumpectomy on 1/30. Nodes and margins were clear! I am doing A/C X 4 then 6 weeks radiation. Meeting the onc today to discuss details and questions. Good luck to all those that start this week - keep me updated!

Oh - and the port is nothing! One of the worst parts of my treatment was the shot of radioactive dye in my nipple! I still don't have feeling there and getting a bit nervous - anyone feel the same?

4th day post 1st "tea party" and really feeling good this morning. No need for senokot today (if you know what I mean). Yesterday I did not have to take anything but the morning dose of protonix and maybe a tums or two throughout the day for heartburn. I didn't need any compazine or kytril and only took 1 dose of tylenol for a very slight headache. Fatigue off and on was my friend and by that I mean I woke up intending to clean out our computer room and within 30 minutes I was so tired I had to go lie down for a while. Then I would get up and start again. That went on all day. But considering what our bodies are going thru I continue to pamper myself and lie down when I have to. This morning I feel much more like myself energy wise so let's see if if lasts.

Marsha--about the hair loss, yea, I was told 2 weeks but maybe she meant unil it's all gone? I know I'm losing alot with each brush stroke and this morning I looked in the mirror and it looks like a much thinner head of hair, and I have thick hair.
    Hugs Breast Friends, Pat

Just got home from seeing my primary. I have lost 6 pounds since I saw him a month ago. Got a big lecture about eating, as much as possible, anything I can. He actually said he didn't care what it was, but to make sure it was fattening! Jeeezzzz Luckily, the naseau is gone today, so gonna head out and get a shake I guess. I know there are alot of you worried about gaining weight, but trust me this can be just as bad if not worse considering nothing sounds good to me. Any suggestions? Marsha

Phyllis -- I'm holding your other virtual hand!

I've got a stupid question. When folks talk about symptoms on a particular day of the treatment (say, day 4), does that mean counting the day of the chemo or counting the days post-chemo?

    Thanks ...

I'm not sure but I think we're missing at least two from the list. Tonimad9 and Sallyann.

Marsha, I'm having the opposite problem which I guess is good. Although my stomach is sometimes queasy, it feels alot better when I eat small meals. I had lost about 15lbs after my dx because I couldn't eat a thing. Now, I'm quickly gaining it back. I guess we're never satisfied.

Phyl - wishing you lots of luck today.

    Hey Marsha---

First, I'm sending you (virtually, of course) some of my extra weight...I need to take off a bunch, so just let me know how much you want.

There is a prescription drug called "Marinol" for appetite enhancement...and it's used primarily for chemo and AIDS patients...I've included the link:
    http://www.dea.gov/ongoing/marinol.html

I'm craving cheese (brie in particular right now) and cheesecake....since I'm trying to go low fat, would you have some for me?

    Bon Appetit!

Question for you ladies, Is there any issue with eating yogurt while doing chemo treatments? I know it might seem like a strange question, but is'nt there some active bacteria in yogurt?
It's Ok to tell me I am getting too picky here....:)

I have a question. I had my first dose of A/C on 2/1. My next dose is this thursday. When will my hair start to fall out? I cut it short about 3 weeks ago. I want to shave my head to keep some control. I just don't want to do it too soon.

    Thanks Everyone
