    Hi all,

Hope everyone is busy living life to the fullest.  That is as it should be.  Things have been quiet on this board of late.

Melanie,  you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Be sure and let us know your results.  Is your DH a race car driver?  Celebrate for me at your St. Patrick's Day party.

Terry, how did your DD's dance competition go?  I know you had a good time.  I used to go to my DGD's cheer competitions and it was a blast.

I had a great time in Houston.  I went to first grade granddaughter's Egg Drop and then came back to her school and had lunch with her.  I waited an hour and had lunch with my grandson.  It was a great opportunity for me.  Living out of town, I don't get to do this very often.

Saturday, I went to Trader's Village with granddaughter that was home from college and her boyfriend.  Quite an experience.  Like a giant flea market.  Once is enough for me. LOL.  But it was great spending time with them

Hugs to all.  Marsha, I want to go to the Double Piano Bar too. LOL  What fun.

    Love you guys, Sammie Kay

Hi all.  I'm sorry for not taking the time to post recently.  I've been thinking about you, especially you Melanie, but just haven't had the energy to write much.  Nothing new and exciting to report on this front.

I'm at home this week, plodding through mountains of paperwork at work and on the home front.  We're getting ready to list so all the little home repairs that we've ignored for this last year now have to be done.  Nothing major, just fussy stuff.  Then the deep cleaning the house so sorely needs, window washing, carpet cleaning, power washing exterior, paint touch-up, etc etc.

We saw a beautiful home in Dallas. I'm still gathering a few details but I'd sure like to own it.  You could all come visit at the same time and there'd be no shortage of space!  Pool, bar, pasture, even a pot-bellied pig if I wanted to negotiate that with the current owner.

I'll be back in that neighborhood next week for more work and home shopping.  Melanie, I may be able to get my schedule arranged to be there the same time that you are.  I'll let you know.  I'm still hoping to be able to meet up with Hillary and Leah for lunch next week (hard to believe a month will have passed since New Suhmerna).

I enjoyed talking with Catherine on skype last night.  I must get my webcam set up at home... I could see you but you couldn't see me.  How odd that must've felt.

Hugs Hillary, Melanie, Catherine, Leah, Marsha, Terry, Sammie Kay, Carynn, Phyl (BTW, what happened with the FL visit?), Jan, Vegas... I'm sure I'm missing someone (apologies in advance).

Home early from the St. Paddy's party!  Dh wanted me to be sober for my early biop tomorrow...blah.  See the word I picked up from Twink?  hehe...and...can anyone tell that I had did have my libations.

Marsha;  Just come to Dallas...the piano bar will never be the same!

Sammie;  Those grandkids really change us...don't they.  Who would have ever thought that our lives would revolve around them, when we thought...whew...got those kids raised, now it's "my" time.  LOL.

Twink:  I am soooo jealous that you got to talk to our Catherine.  She was "on" Saturday, but I had to run out.  The Dallas home sounds perfect.  I bet a fab house with a pool will the move much less traumatic on the girls.  You do have my number?

I must get to bed.  It is 11pm my time and 6am will come early!

    love to all...

    Hi all

Melanie hope biop went well. And the St Pat's party. I dressed as an Irish flag on Monday for school, took some a while to realise what I was. Had a green skirt, white singlet and orange top. A friend took one look and said I was just a trouble maker wearing orange. Went down the road to our local Irish bar in the evening but did change my top to green.

Twink, Melanie and Hillary would love to talk some time. Did see Twink was on line at one point but was going out for the day so couldn't call. Next time I will do so.

I am very stiff and sore tonight- yesterday went to Pink Pilates a programme for women who have had BC to help then get back into shape. I have lots of muscles that weren't there before but I hope it helps tone up my middle region and it is supposed to help the LE.

Was late getting as DD1 decided that I needed coffee which was true but she is a real shopaholic and so we took a long time.

Dinner time in this part of the world so had better get that organised.

    Love to all

Alyson;  I bet your flag outfit was very funny!

Catherine;  I guess I was logging off when you left the message on skype.  I saw your message this morning.

DH set the alarm 30 mins early this morning, so I am killing a few minutes here.  We are expecting huge rain downpours today and tomorrow.  Arkansas drivers might as well be on ice when it rains.  The drive will not be pleasant today.

    Good morning, all.'

I have been on each day, but not posting much. I am missing everyone, and seem to fill up the day with lots of activities, but still wish I was back in New Suhmyrna with you guys...

Catherine, you are doing a great job being patient with everyone on the Skype thing. Keep it up, we will get used to integrating it into part of our day. Unfortunately, the new place I am at won't allow it on their machines, so I have to be home to do it.

Tax season kept me busy. I do my corporations taxes, and then all the family ones. Plus my brother, mother, and a close friend or two. So that has been keeping me otherwise-occupied as we are getting close to the end of the wire.

Marsha- got your PM. Please call when you have a sec.

Twilah- as much as I want to move, the thought of getting a home for sale makes me break out in a sweat. We have been there for 16 years. As much as I throw things out every year in massive cleaning binges, I can only throw out MY stuff.  DD and DH are packrats. I can't imagine having to make them clean out their stuff. You did it relatively recently, so I hope it isn't too bad. Good luck on the Dallas house.

Hilary- can't wait for next Friday!

And dear Melanie, I am praying fervently that you are more than perfect today. Please let us know as soon as you can.

Alyson- you crack me up with what you do for your students. You must be a wonderful teacher!

    Love you all.

    Good morning all,

My flu has finally flown. This is a crazy week, as ds is on spring break and I've got to shuttle him around to different activities to keep him busy!

Twilah -- That new house sounds great ... I can see an FCC reunion in Dallas! Since you had just moved a couple of years ago, you probably haven't accumulated that much stuff. Well, besides your shoe collection - LOL!

Alyson -- When do you normally get onto Skype? I'm trying to figure out if we can talk on one of the days when I'm not at work ...

Leah -- Phyl is also going to be joining us! Anyone else want to meet in Philly for lunch?

    Hugs to everyone,

    Hillary

Melanie -- I've got my fingers and toes crossed for your biopsy re-do today!

Leah;  Thanks for my "wake-up" call...lol.  Seriously, I might have missed the dental appt.  I don't ever take naps except rarely on Sundays.  I was just wiped out from the early morning commute and biop.  I did a local again and they went in both medial and lateral.  He said the first biop he considers 90% accurate and this one 95% accurate.  He did say it was not a node.  Way too firm.  Also said he's leaning more towards scar tissue because it is so hard.  It is palpable.  I found it a couple of days ago...finally.  Brushed against it and it was tender.  That was worrisome, but doc says it should be because it has been proded and poked.  This is sounding like an X rated movie...lol.

On a nice note...my dentist gave me a gift certificate for 2 hours of spa treatments of my choice.  yippie.  Tranquility for Torture...fair trade.

Phyl;  Sorry to hear about the flu.  We miss seeing your posts.

Hillary;  Glad to hear you got rid of the nasty bug.  If I weren't so darn busy, I would fly to Philly for lunch myself.  Hmmm...what would be my reason.

Carynn;  I hate that I missed Catherine also.  I only have skype on my laptop that stays at home and I have been short on time lately.

Gotta do a little work now!

Melanie, so glad to know you are done with the biopsy (keeping my fingers crossed for the final good report) AND with the dentist... he must have some ethical sense left to feel "guilty" enough for all the money he probably asked from you... to compensate with a spa invitation... enjoy...

Phyl, Hillary get all well soon... an advantage of being a "senior" without kidos around is that you are less exposed to whatever is in the air...

Sammie kay, so nice to sense your excitement while shopping for the perfect kitchen... I don't think I will ever have granit counters, but I can visualize caramel or other brittle candy cooling off on those... Is the flea-market you're talking about North of Houston?  We used to go to a huge one where we always found nice pieces of furniture... we still have 2 bent wood chairs coming originally from a tea-room in Vienna circa 1900... we love them and use them a lot. You sure have been busy... and you sound upbeat... hope the storm was not too bad (I saw the picture of a tornado not far for Corpus not long ago).

Carynn, Leah, Twink, Melanie, Alyson, Hillary... (Marsha, Vegas??)  I am sure we'll find a good time to all chat together (I know now that Skype does not yet support video for teleconferencing... it's only for "face à face" conversations...).  If my skype icon is green or away, don't hesitate to try... I know how busy and committed you are and do not want to intrude in your lives, so I leave it to you to ring me if you are in the mood... (if I am unavailable, you'll see the sign). Yesterday I had the joy of connecting with my youngest (half/step) sister, 31, Sophie, who showed me her beautiful pregnant belly... where a little girl is waiting... she should have her baby in 2-3 weeks... I feel like knitting again... That's where Skype (or equivalent) is a real neat system... I've never been so current with my relatives as I am now... we all love it.

Well, I am working on the translation of an IFU about an Cystic Fibrosis Genotyping assay... genetics is a very complicated thing... I'd better get back to it...

Thinking of you all, also trying not to worry too much about "what if"... second pelvic US (with saline solution... does that hurt?) on Thursday at 2... that may spare me the D&C...

Spring is definitely not far... enjoy your gardens and the singing birds...

    Hugs to all...

    Catherine

ps: I pm'd to Tink but did not get any answer... I sure hope she is OK and her baby girl, too...

Wonderful news Melanie, such news makes you feel so good. Have a great weekend.

Mine is going to be spent hospital visiting. DH landed in there on Wednesday, after he had chest pains and felt very unwell. He is being monitored constantly because his heart actually stopped for a few seconds three times over night, he said there were no problems last night when I spoke to him earlier. He will have the investigations into the problem on Tuesday but they won't let him out in the mean time. We really did think that things were looking up in this household.

Must be positive, DD2 has passed her Ph D, she has some minor corrections to do. So thats great especially as she is being encouraged to publish as soon as possible.

I had better get moving, will go the Church then walk round to the hospital which is a short distancwe from the church we attend.

Don't eat too many Hot Cross buns

Oh Alyson, I do hope that DH's issues are minor ones.  I think many of us here have been through something similar.  I know I have with my DH and it is scary.  And...congratulations to your dd.  Such an accomplishment!  I could go for some of those hot cross buns for an afternoon snack.

Hillary;  I am happy to be in your club!

    Catherine;  Thank you also...

This was forwarded to me today and I was really happy to receive the link.  I have sometimes said to servicemen a simple "thank you for your service", but it does sometimes seem awkward.  I like this gesture.   http://www.gratitudecampaign.org/sign.php

Marsha;  I have so much I need to talk to you about.  I do apologize for not calling.  Been too wrapped up in work and tests.  Learned a lot of lessons in drafting last night (not the car type, Carynn).  We are trying to get the plans together for new offices and it has been crazy.  Ready for the weekend break.  Supposed to be leaving here in 5 minutes!

Good morning! Long time, no time! I've been trying to read and keep up with you all; what a difference from last year at this time! I used to meet Marsha in chat at about 3:00 am my time from (steroid induced) lack of sleep. While I sure do miss Marsha and the chat girls, I'm happy to report that I'm generally blissfully asleep at that time these days! ;)

SammyKay - Have you downloaded Skype yet? We've been so busy I haven't had time to launch it lately; but it really is great. We will need to set up a chat time with all of us one day soon!

Terry - How was your trip and the dance competition? Has the snow melted yet? It's definitely spring here with high expected today of 86. :)

Twink - Nice to see you. I'm sure that you are still busy with preparing for the move. Something has gotten into my DH and not only does he want to finish the remodling we started last year before chemo, but he's on this major spring cleaning and donation / yard sale mission. I'm a bit of a pack rat, so it's painful. I know it needs to be done, but I don't wanna..... ;)

Alyson - Your St. Patrick's outfit sounded darling! Are you still doing Pilates? I have a couple of tapes that I really should do, but unfortunately, thinking about them seems to be as far as I get! How is your DH? Is he still in the hospital? Sending lots of prayers that it's nothing serious and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Leah - How is the new job? I'm sure the best part is getting to sleep in your own bed! I spent a year or so on the road for work, and I DON'T miss it a bit!

Hillary - It's fun seeing you on the makeup thread! I need to check in and see what's up over there today. I was sorry to hear that you were under the weather, glad you are feeling better. Please post lots of pictures from the upcoming lunch!

Phyl - So nice to see you. Hope you are feeling better. Still waiting to hear what those Florida "issues" were. ;)

Catherine - that is so wonderful that you can chat with friends and family from home on Skype! My boss worked in China for four years and he does the same thing with Yahoo messaging. How did we get by before technology??!!Hope you are well and enjoying spring. Cant wait til you start dazzling us again with the wonderful meals you're preparing from the garden. :)

Melanie - Easter weekend = race withdrawals! We are taking my family out to Easter Brunch, which will be nice. I'm so very happy to hear your news and that it's just scar tissue. Remember, I told you I ended up with a ton of it myself. Big hugs and congrats on the news. BTW...glad you clarified, I mean, after all, anyone who's known to go sledding at all hours of the night, just may be learning to draft at 200 mph! ;)

Pat - It's so nice to see you! What's new GF? Hope you are well.

Take care girls. Miss you lots. Hope you all have a great weekend!

    Happy Easter

it is a clear Autumn morning here. The leaves are beginning to change colour but it hasn't really got any colder yet.

Friends have invited me to go to Church with them this morning so that will be great as we will walk to their Church, ours is further away.

DH is getting bored sitting in hospital but we have taken him a laptop so he can watch some dvds and have found a little TV as well. Will hopefully know more on Tuesday. Monday here is a public holiday here as is Good Friday - do you get these days off? Schools also have Tuesday off when itEaster doesn't fall in theTerm holidays.

Have had a great breakfast - two hotcross buns and two little Easter eggs, its not so much fun by oneself.

I thought that on Monday here I would see if any of you are home and get on skype. Hillary, my skype tells me the local time of the person I am talking to, it is just before 4.00pm Saturday your time right now for instance and 8.00am here on Sunday. (I know that because I plan to ring my Aunt and wish her happy Easter tomorrow and I checked on the skype window which is so much easier). Do you go on to daylight saving next weekend?

Had better get myself dressed if I am going to Church

Have a wonderful Easter and not too many chocolate eggs.

    Alyson,

In a wacked out effort to save something, our laws changed daylight savings time. We went to daylight savings time 2 weeks ago, so there will be no change in the time in the US anyway.

There is no such holiday as Easter Monday, though I remember it when I was buying from European vendors and they always had the holiday. Normal workday for us, as was Good Friday. So probably not a lot of people will be available for you to talk toFrown

Joyeuses Pâques to all...!!! Yes, Alyson, Monday after Easter Sunday is a holiday in France, too (not Friday, though...)... another tradition with big meals in France (or used to be... a roasted leg of lamb, strawberry pies,  meat pies... fresh white asparagus... you name it... Russian Orthodox Easter is later (different calendar) and is the most beautiful liturgy there is... if you can stay on your feet that long... and the Kulitch +paskha is a delicious treat (recipies on line)...

Well, we woke up to some fresh snow (1/2 inch)... fine with me because I want to knit... Yesterday I rode my bike to a terrific little yarn shop called "Copelia and the Shivering Sheep"... and got lovely wool to knit baby sweaters (6 months) for Sophie's little girl (technically, a future niece for me)... I am in heaven when I start a small project like that... needless to say, don't ask me to do house chores... but I will fix a duck, and white asparagus "sauce mousseline" for dinner... DH's wish list for today... :-))

Wishing you all a wonderful day.  I hope none of you is in the flooded areas... always so sad to see...

Enjoy the little ones who were/are egg hunting and stuffing their little faces with chocolate...

    Hugs to all,

    Catherine
