    Hi Everybody,

I have a feeling my bird might be a tad tough this year.  I've baked him about all I can andhe's so so, but not falling apart like usual.  Well....maybe he'll surprise me.  LOL

Susie~~  I don't "do" cranberry but I bet someone will come through for you.  I'm busier todaythan I will be tomorrow.  :o

Catherine~~  I'll second that on knowing who is special in our lives after what we've all beenthrough.

This is a busy place !!!!!

Bonnie:  Sorry about your bird.  I bet it will be delicious!  Just throw some parsley around it, and, everyone will dive in to it!  I know I can't wait for turkey!  YUM!

And, you don't do cranberry?  lol  I found a good recipe on the www and hubby is bringing home the ingredients after he gets off work.  He is so sweettttttttttttttt!Kiss

Having bc this year and being NED now has given me sooooooooooo much to be thankful for.  I miss my Mom every holiday as normal, but, I know that she is with me, inside my heart!

Ok, back to working on the relishes.  I hate cutting all this crap up...lol

Lots of information on this thread.  I stated T on August 25 and didn't realize joint pain could be a problem.  I have been having a lot of cramping in my toes at night after exercise and low back pain that has gotten worse and doesn't see to improve with my chiropractor appts.  I am going to have to take the time to read up on all the possible ideas you ladies have.  I am planning on starting on Effexor for the hot flashes but really don't like the idea.  It seems to come with its own bad set of side effects.  I am so tired of taking medicine.  If anyone else is on Effexor and has some advise or news I would love to hear about it or any great ideas for toe cramps that are okay to do on T.

    Hi peg,

try the unwrapped bar of soap at the bottom of the bed. Some folk on this site swear it reduces/eliminates leg cramps. Who knew!!!!

I think I am going to try it tonight for threatening lower limb cramps!

Does it matter what kind of soap?  Doesn't make sense but anything is worth a try.

I haven't yet tried it so don't know if brand makes a difference; I guess it just needs to be out of its wrapper.  Yes, it IS bizarre but as I said, some women swear by it - and for a change it is TOTALLY non-invasive.

BTW to all my new friends in the USofA -

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok, here ostensibly is the scoop on the soap thing; doesn't make logical sense but apparently it works:

"Comparing the ingredients in Bar Soap and Gator Aid used for cramps etc. you will find there are several types of Sodium in both. Including Sodium Chloride (SALT) the Electrolytes in the Sodium carried by the fragrance perhaps enters the skin (your largest organ) through the bottom of your feet (the main reflexology center for the whole body) Thus the increase of Electrolytes replace those lost by diuretics or perspiring etc. So there you have at least one theory. Science not superstition, perhaps! "

Well I picked up my first 90-day supply of Tamoxifen today!  I will start it on Monday.  This is the next step in the journey for me.  Had chemo, surgery, and radiation.  Will be on Herceptin through April 2, 2010.  Tamoxifen for 5 years.

I'm a bit nervous.  I've heard horror stories and I've heard women say they had minimal se's.  I'm hoping to be in the latter category.

Looking forward to taking this journey with you ladies!

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

THAT TURKEY IS PERFECT!!!   I spoke with my 25 year old son who is in school in chicago (I am in upstate NY) he asked me if I was cooking.   Since my bc last year, my new phrase is F cooking, going out, so I will not be cooking today.  I have done it for 30 years and vow to not until I retire in 3 years.   But for all of those who are, good luck and hope you have help!

Tamoxifen has made me understand that your elbows can actually sweat.    I am 52 so maybe I am menopausal too.   I was dx with bc at 51 and had been on birth control pills for 14 years until that point so I don't really know what my body was doing.  I loved the pill.   Anyway, I also have some hip pain here and there but have not had any restrictions, pretty lucky.   the only thing I have is the most annoying belly fat that I cannot get rid of (I am 5' tall and weigh 110) except when I probably had swine flue a couple weeks back.   urggggh.

kjbell - I have been on Tamox 4 1/2 months and effexor 37.5 mgs prior 2 that for chemo induced hot flashes.  The hot flashes have gotten worse so I just started taking 75 mg's on Monday.  I did notice that this past weekend I seemed to have some crying incidences and teariness over little stresses and I'm not really sure if I am depressed or not or if stressing over money and the holidays is getting to me.  With paying copays for 5 prescriptions and Dr. appoinments is taking a chunk out of my pay now and we seem to be living pay to pay and charging more.  I also have been having issues with a co-worker and that is stressing me too.  I usually don't worry so much about this kind of stuff, but not sure if it is medication, the past year in general, time of year, etc.  Anyway that is TMI for you all, but I got it off my chest so thank you!!!

We are going to my DH's parents, I am taking pumpkin pie, pecan tassies (which were a PITA to make) that I made for the 1st time.  The 1st batch is funny looking the 2nd came out better, and I'm thinking of making fresh cranberry sauce to take even though they all like the canned jell stuff - Yuck.  A guy on the Today show made it this morning and I have a bag of fresh cranberries to use.

    Happy Thanksgiving all!!!

Peg119:  Try the unwrapped soap at the bottom of your bed and see if that helps with your cramping.  Everyone says it works.  I know it sounds ridiculous, but hey, if it works, who cares.  lol

MTG:  OMG...I LOVE that turkey pic!  Thank you so much for the big smile when I saw it.  My hubby thought it was hilarious!

Alaina:  Welcome to that tamox train as they call it.  It is quite a ride, but, you will do fine.  We are here to help one another.

Harley44:  You should try the soap too.  I can't believe so many said it worked.  I haven't tried it yet, but, I don't have the cramps yet.

Bonnie:  So happy that your turkey got tender.  I knew it would!

Mabbam:  Welcome!  This thread is a busy one so post whenever you can!

I pray and hope that all of you had a great Thanksgiving.  We did.  I ate wayyyyyyyyyyy too much, but, will exercise it off this week somehow.  hmmmmmmmmmmmm  (wink, wink)  It was just a wonderful day with family.  My husband and I have so much to be thankful for inre to my being free of cancer now!  It has been a long ride, and, one that I am glad to be done with!

Hi To All Turkey Stuffed Folks !!!!!!!!Sealed

    I enjoyed it and I'm glad it's over.  :o)

No one is more thankful for their blessings than all of us here at bcorg  that's for sure.

Susie...you know I never even thought to try the soap when my foot used to cramp.  And I even had a friend who used the soap and it worked for her leg cramps.  Funny.  I'll know now though if that particular SE tries to revisit me.

We've been in the mid 40's here for a long long time but woke up to some snow flurries and freezing temps.  I don't "do" brrrrrrrrr  cold  or much snow that well.  I should have been born in a warmer climate.....or moved to one.  :o)

Hope all of you are resting up.

OMG, I just ate again.  lol  And, a LOT!  But, I love dressing..yummmmmmmmmmm!  I could just eat that and nothing else.

Snow?  Yikes!  Did you get a lot Bonnie?  Snow is always nice at Christmas, but, then I want it to melt.  lol  OMG, Christmas!  I need to do some shopping one of these days.  I can't believe that people do the "Black Friday" thing.  I would think that would be so stressful.  I know they get good deals, but, can't you get those after today or not?

I hope everyone is resting too.  I know a lot had to go back to work, which seems unfair.  Everyone should have the day after a big holiday off.  hmmmmmmm Let's create a new law!  OK?

Hi!  I hope everyone had a great Turkey Day!

Yes, Susie, people do shop today.  I did once, but, never again.  I had fun, but, it was not worth getting to the store at 3 a.m.!  I like to sleep in late!

It is chilly here today, but, it feels good.  It kind of wakes you up if you go outside.  I hope we do't get snow until Xmas eve and then have it melt January 2nd!  That would be my choice.

Has anyone had their ovaries removed because of their bc?  I have read where some have because of the estrogen, but, your body will still produce estrogen, even with them removed.

PattiB-glad you got things off your chest-hope it made you feel better! Over this past year, we have pretty much been living paycheck to paycheck and ya it sucks. But hopefully things will just keep on getting better for us.

Traveler-the inside bend(?) of my elbows sweat while the arm remains dry. Weird. I too was on bc pills as that was the only thing that got rid of all the hot flashes. I miss them everyday! Sweating in the winter is just wrong!

    Susie,

ok....  I read that bit about the bar of soap...  is it supposed to be an UNWRAPPED bar of soap? and ...  is there a particular brand, like DOVE, or IVORY??    LOL    also, do I put it UNDER the covers, or on top of the blanket??   I know, too many questions....

Thanks for the advice.  Hey, if it works, I'll tell everyone I know to try it!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!   I'm STILL stuffed, but we ate again tonight!!  You know, how when you are SO STUFFED, and you think:   I'll NEVER eat again, I'm so FULL??   LOL     Well, sure enough, I was hungry again this morning!!!

    Hugs to all,

    Harley

PS  I seem to sweat MORE in the Winter months than in the Summer.... go figure!!

    Harley,

My understanding is any soap, unwrapped and under the covers at the  bottom of the bed, unless you have headaches like Susie and then you can try under the pillow (just joking, just joking - and hope the headaches are WAY better Susie).

I am envious of all the turkey talk. Our Thanksgiving was so long ago I can hardly remember what that dark meat and cranberry sauce tasted like. Bring on Christmas Dinner (pot luck at my sister's this year - LUCKY me!)

    Thanks, Caroline!

I'll try it.  I only have one bar of soap, wrapped in plastic, that I got on my last cruise.  I haven't opened it yet.  I guess I was just saving it... a souvenir...

When is Canadian Thanksgiving??  I heard about it, but can't remember when it is.
I didn't have turkey.  I don't like it...   My dh made prime rib, twice baked potatoes, and I made a green bean casserole and blueberry cobbler.   I still feel like I'm STUFFED!!   I have had to go out for a short run both yesterday BEFORE I ate, and today, to try to get rid of all these extra calories....   LOL

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

    Hugs

I have had leg cramps starting about 1 month ago, when I mentioned them to NP she said drink 1/2 glass of tonic water 1/2 hour before bed.   I did get a small bottle, but yuck, don't really like it.  So I put a bar of Irish Spring between mattress pad and fitted sheet at the bottom.  The soap has been there every night and most nights I forget about the tonic water.  I have not had the intense Charlie horse cramps since.  Charlie horse cramps have plague me as a teenager, during pregnancy and now, which the NP said made sense since those were periods in my life that the hormones were changing.
