staci,
Hope you don't mind, but I read a little of your history.
I'm guessing that since you had dcis, that is why you are eligible to take Evista. I wanted to take it, but so far, it has only been approved for women who are 'high risk', but those who didn't have Invasive breast cancer.... see, your cancer was in situ, so you are lucky. My onc. told me that from all the studies, Evista works just as well as Tamoxifen, but without the effects to the uterus that I am having. Only, I can't take Evista, since it hasn't been approved for use by women who have had invasive breast cancer.I hope this makes sense...
Good luck to you. Please keep us posted.
Hugs

So Bonnie, you think if this tiredness continues, that it might the tamox? I can't tell if it is it or if I am just not getting enough sleep or something. I have been having some weird nightmares. Can I blame that on tamox too? LOL
I want to go somewhere warm too like all of you.
Time to fix dinner for hubby. He looks hungry. LOL

Lex~~
Tiredness definitely.....weird nightmares....don't think so. LOL Least I never read that one on any of the infos and I've read my share Oh My Oh My. I think sometimes we read too much and then scare ourselves too.
I want to go somewhere warm too. So does Susie and I think all of us living out in Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr land.

Vitamin E suppositories huh? Now I have to call the doctor again. LOL It didn't start out too bad, but now, I seem very dry. Sorry again if it is TMI I have read about coconut oil, but, didn't know where to get it. Also about vegetable oil, but, I think that would ruin everything. LOL Replens, I have tried, but, it isn't perfection. Oh dear..what am I to do ( sigh )
I thought instead of dryness, I read where tamox is suppose to give you a discharge? Anyone know about that?
And, I want to go to Mexico or Florida or anywhere warm too. Noone else can go anywhere warm unless they take ALL of us. OK GOT IT? LOL
I don't think I will start packing just yet.
Tiredness can be a sympton Lex of tamox, but, like Bonnie said, I don't think nightmares are. But, who knows LOL
I love all of the cute and funny pictures that some of you post. It is nice to log on and get a smile right away. I love it!
I haven't heard of Evista Harley. GRRRRRRRRRRR My oncologist is so lousy. But, I guess I couldn't take it because I had invasive bc. Right?
MTG, loving all of your info again! Thank goodness you know how to do that and are willing to. You help all of us out by doing that.

Come on now. None of you have as much snow as we have nor the -27C like we are going to have tonight. And that cold will likley continue off and on until March at least. So only a week in the sun and heat of Mexico is not TOO much to ask for, is it?
My challenge now is to find a bathing suit I don't look too lopsided in LOL.
Keep warm

hi harley, thanx for posting back-i had my hysterectomy almost two years ago, everything is gone so no risk of uterus problems ha ha, but i guess it's like they throw so much information at you-and your suppose to make your decision then and there, then sometimes other peole say it's "just dcis" which makes me feel pretty lousy-so the evista is suppose to be easier on my system? breast dr. doesn't want to do radiation yet because if and when something else turns bad then i won't have the radiation option anymore-it's late but thanx again for your reply -all you ladies have been a huge help for me look forward to hearing from you

Staci, breast cancer is breast cancer. I don't care what label is attached. It is still breast cancer. I think I would slap someone if I had dcis and they said that to me. Or, I guess I could say " Well, I hope you get it and then we can talk!" People are so ignorant. Sorry, but someone saying that to you Staci really ticked me off.
I hope that the Evista is easier on you Staci. I don't know anything about it.
Let's think positive too...Nothing else will turn up. OK?

I'm with you on that Susie! Both things, the dcis and thinking positive!! Also, the Rotti Express is too adorable!
Stacie all the best on Evista!

Jeanne D.-
Well, I'm sure that your dr. may know about all this stuff, but... it really is useless to overwhelm you with alot of information. You are right... at this time, even though I think it's probably being studied, NO, we can't take Evista.
stacy.
how stupid... dcis is JUST as scary, and just as bad.... as Susie said, CANCER is CANCER!
my sisters were very upset when I told them about my IDC, and I kept stressing that it was found EARLY, it was VERY SMALL, and not in the lymph nodes. They couldn't understand why I decided on such agressive treatment. I finally told one of my sisters:
IT'S CANCER!!!
enough said...
Hope you are all doing well, and keeping warm.
The countdown continues...
THREE more Tamoxifen pills to go!! Not counting Friday, since I will see my onc then....
Although... I'm thinking about maybe just taking the Tamoxifen (since I had to refill my Rx, so I got a TON of pills left) for the rest of December, and starting the AI on JANUARY 1st!!
Hugs to all

Staci, I am happy to see that you are in high spirits today! That makes me smile! I wish that all of us everyday could only think good positive thoughts. Well, maybe we need to try so that we get lots of Xmas presents. lol
Oh my Christmas. I still haven't finished decorating. Hubby pooped out on me. grrrrrrrrrr lol
Harley, unbelievable that you are almost done! 3 to go! I can't wait until that is me. Let's see, that will be in 2014! lol Good luck with your onco appointment. Let us know what he says.
Glad you like the pic of the Rotts. That was a cute one.
Will post more later!
Oh, NO headache again! woohooooooooooooooooooo

Hi ladies,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I had my ooph/hysterectomy yesterday and am now home. The doctors said everything went well . They were able to do it robotic assisted laparoscopically and I am felling pretty good. Minimal pain and no nausea--thank goodness! It's so nice to be able to talk about these things with people who are in similar situations. Thanks for all your sound advice and support. TCK

Hi Everyone !!!!!!
Hannah......I think it's terrific that they can now do the hysterectomy like that. I had mine at 37with that big old ugleeeee cut. Actually 2 because I had one side out and then a few years later had to have the rest.
Susie....that tree is so pretty. We have some here in the neighborhood that are almost that pretty that people have put lights on the bare limbs.
So Harley~~ 3 more BiG T's huh? 4 years 9 months and a few days to go for me. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
It's looking a tad "sleety" out there right now. I just took my doggie out to potty. It's between a rain and a snow with ice under tones. ) Not a pretty sight for sure.
Hope you all are tucked in nice and warm and snuggly watching tv or on here.

Hi TCK,
Take good care and look after yourself. Sounds like the same kind of surgery as my gall bladder and I recovered quickly. Just don't do too much and as my nurse sister said - NO lifting for a few weeks!

MTG-
Study found that women who ate soy after BC had a lower risk of recurrence.

Hello Tamoxifriends! Rain, rain, rain here! But, that is better than snow. I saw on the news where there is a blizzard in so many places. Do NOT want that! No No No
Hannahbearsmom: I am so glad that your surgery is over and that it went so well. And, you are home? Now, lay back and let yourself be pampered. I think you are suppose to not do too much, right? You just heal and take care of yourself.
Bonnie: So, you liked the tree? It is pretty. I love all of the lights at this time of year. I am just about done with my decorating inside. Like I wrote earlier, hubby pooped out on me. But, I should give him credit for putting up a lot of lights outside. So, he is out of the doghouse, for now. lol
Harley girl, almost done! 1 2 3 DONE! YIPPEE and YAHOO! lol
Everyone have a great evening!
Susie

J414 - Interesting study; thank you. It's nice to know that as recently as today, at least some researchers dont think I'm crazy to continue eating soy !!! Of couse, I suspect that the studies will continue to go back and forth - it's good, no bad, no good - for a long while.
Harley - Wow Oh Wow ! Only 3 more "official" days ! But I get why you would want to draw down your supply and take them a bit longer. It willl be interesting to see what onc says on Friday.
TCK - Congratulations on having yesterday's surgery behind you; it sounds like it was virtually a breeze. Now if someone can just figure out how to get BC out of us laparoscopically (maybe thru the milk ducts ???) wouldn't that be wonderful !!!!
As for Florida - it's warm and sunny and the beach is just downstairs...Of course, with my Father , Mother and Aunt all here and in their 80's I haven't made it to the beach at all yet ...but I am planning on stealing a couple of hours tomorrow so I'm really looking forward to that !! (My poor brother is working so hard, he's decided to stay down for a few days after we all go back up north so that he can get a little break.) But hey, I'm thankful that both Mom and Dad are still here and kicking ass (frequently mine - as in "Are you wearing that ?"; "Are you eating that?"; "Are you ________ (fill in the blank) that ?" - Oh Boy !
Night all !

I went to bed early and got lots of sleep and don't feel so tired today. Ofcourse, here I am up late now. So, we will see tomorrow. I still blame it on the tamox. I think it is making me tired. I never felt like this before I took it.
Hannahbearsmom, so glad that your surgery is behind you now and you can concentrate on healing. Isn't it amazing what they can do anymore? Robotic assisted? Was he hot? LOL
Can't believe that you are almost done Harley. Man, I wish I were you. Are the Al's suppose to be easier and less side effects? Sorry, I don't know much about them.
You are so lucky to be in Florida MTG! In the 80's? You haven't been to the beach yet? I would stampede over everyone to get there. LOL Have fun! Your rendition of your parents is funny and so true of everyone's.
Susie, as always I love your funny pictures. I always can use a laugh and you always come thru. So, no headache today? Maybe they are gone. I pray that they are for you!
Now I do need to get to bed and get some sleep. But, I still feel wide awake.
Later, Lex

Glad your surgery went so well TCK. Now rest and recover. That is an order!
You crack me up Susie. Love the funny pics! Glad you are almost done decorating. I bet your home looks beautiful. It will make the season better for you, I hope. I know the loss of your Mom is looming over you, but, you are doing great to get thru and past this. Proud of you!
Did you finally get over your cold or sinus problem Bonnie? I see you are on now and I haven't seen you post about it in the last few. Susie's chickie noodle soup probably fixed you, eh?
Hope you are sleeping now Lex
So happy for you Harley! Quite an accomplishment!

Hi All,
Great pics, Susie. Thanks for the on-going smiles and chuckles.
j414 - very interesting study. Thanks for sharing. My specialists here have a concern about the base intake of soy between Asian and North American women. Also, it seems, so does, David Servan-Schreiber in his book, Anti-Cancer.
The paragraphs in the study that make me nervous are the following:
"The authors of a commentary on the study caution that while it provides important information, there are several concerns, including differences in the quality, type and quantity of soy food intake between Chinese and American women.
For one thing, the average isoflavone intake in Chinese women is 47 milligrams per day compared with 1 to 6 milligrams per day for American women, Dr. Rachel Ballard-Barbash, of the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland and Dr. Marian L. Neuhouser, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, point out.
Larger studies, they say, are needed to understand the effects of these foods among diverse subsets of women with breast cancer."
As an intermediate metabolizer of T, I am not prepared to take the risk, so I am avoiding all soy, except the fermented kind, which has next to none phytoestrogens.
Have a good night all. Has warmed up here to -22C ;-)))

Omg Caroline -22! Can I say brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Hope you have a big roaring fire in the fireplace and a cup of hot cocoa! Or, a hot toddy perhaps?
TCK, so glad to see you posting and to know that you are thru surgery and home recuperating. Heal fast!
Laughing at your new pic Susie. I always look forward to those, especially if I am down, they give me a lift.
Goodnight!
Deb

Alexis - I am also having a hard time sleeping. I had that before Tamox with pre-menopause as well.
I am still having a lot of trouble with my back but unsure if it is related to T. I put the bar of soap in bed and am having far fewer toe and foot cramps. May be all in my mind but thats okay.
Love the pics too. They always brighten the day.
It snowed here last night then rained and is supposed to snow and be very windy tonight. I would much rather be in Florida.

Harley,
2 more - or not, if you wait until January then you have 22 more. It's all in the numbers!! I might be joining you and might disembark the tamoxitrain (and I so love the chocolate car, bar car, pasta car, etc). I have an appt with my gyno to discuss and schedule a hysterectomy and oopherectomy. I also had a d & c due to uterine issues, but my procedure was a breeze. I wish yours would have been. However, my uterine issues are back (less than 5 weeks later!) and I have a growing cyst on one of my ovaries. I'll let you know what the dr. says and if I'll be joining your countdown. I'll need to ask my onc if I can finish my tamox rx (just got a 3 month refill!!!!) and then see if she'll switch me to an AI. Hope your appt goes well.
Hugs to all,
Trish
