    Susie,

Love that pic!!  I'm still laughing!!  LOL   I, too appreciate the pics, because they keep us laughing and smiling...  Laughter truly IS the best medicine!!

    MTG,

I'll ask my onc on Friday about waiting to switch, or maybe I might even be able to take a short break before switching to the AI...  it would be nice to be OFF the hormonal treatment, just for Christmas, maybe for a week, from Christmas until Jan 1st!

    Trish,

I'm so sorry you are having issues again.   When will you see your gyn??  I will be thinking about you, and praying that all is well.  I am sure it's all ok, but it really IS SUCH a P. I. T. A.!!!   Please keep me posted.

Thanks for the updated count...  after Friday, I may be starting my count anew.

I, too will miss the pasta train, especially!!  LOVE LOVE LOVE pasta!!

    Hugs

Caroline, I understand your fear and I'm also averse to taking unnecessary risks.  My biggest vice was red wine but (with great sadness) gave that up too - although I have been off the wagon a bit with the holidays.

I'm also an intermediate metabolizer and my doctor has enrolled me in a study to measure the amount of endoxifen (the stuff that makes tamox work) in my blood stream. If there's less than there should be, then he will probably suggest an increase in the dosage.  I believe there are also a number of hospitals participating in the study (outside of NYC).

    Hello Tamoxibeautifulwomen!

It is so cold here!  BRRRRRRRRRRRRR  I think the wind is already at the 45 mph that the weather man said it would be.  Just a dusting of snow, thank goodness.  If we get more snow, we will have a blizzard whiteout.  YIKES!   I had hubby button down the hatch outside before he went to work....I don't want to see stuff flying by the windows.  lol

I am so sorry Trish that you are having to deal with more problems.  I will certainly say a prayer for you.  Please post and let us know what your doctor says.  K?

Harley, that would probably be nice for you to have a little break from the hormones.  The only thing I thought of was would your body kind of readjust to not having them, then, if you start again later, your body might act up more?  Ok, does that make sense?  I know what I am trying to say..it just isn't coming out right.  lol

Yes Harley, rain is better than snow and we had some rain yesterday.  Actually, a lot of rain.  Today though we have flurries and wind, lots of wind!   Oh well, got a fire in the fireplace, a hot cup of cocoa and just need to find food.  Have anything good?

I am so glad that you all love the pictures I post.  I agree that laughter is the best medicine!  We all can use a laugh or two daily.

I had 2 glasses of wine last night, so, I am blaming that for my headache today.  Now, I need food!

2 glasses Susie? Wow, you drunk.  Ok, kidding.  I still enjoy my wine too.  I want a quality life and that includes my wine.

So you are tired too Peg?  I never felt like this until I got on this tamoxitrain.  So, I am blaming it on that.  I don't have any cramps yet.  I did say YET.  lol  I hope your back pain gets better.  Happy that the soap is working.  Isn't that a weird remedy?

Harly girl is almost done!  I will do our now famous YAHOO!  Who posted that?  I guess I could go back and read thru the posts, but, feeling lazy right now.  I know it was funny.  We were all going YAHOO?  hehe

Sorry Trish.  Sending you lots of gentle hugs and prayers!

    Susie,

Yea, well, I did have a 2 week break before I had my D & C, and it really didn't do much damage.  I wasn't off long enough to really notice a difference.  I wouldn't go off any longer than 1 or 2 weeks.  I'd be too worried that it would counteract the effects of taking Tamoxifen all that time.

yes, rain IS better than snow!!  It's been kinda cold here, but today is sunny, and warmer, only... VERY WINDY!!   I want to go out for a walk, only...   here is a new development...   My ears seem to be all clogged up!!   UGH!!  What next?  I wonder if my onc could prescribe something for my ear problem??   Probably.... NOT....    I don't want to have to go to the drs. AGAIN...

    Alexis,

    Thanks for the big YAHOO!!!

I'll let ya'll know what happens on Friday.  I always have SO MANY questions, and my onc doesn't have alot of patience with me...

    Hugs

Cheers Susie! I like my wine too and my beer and so on and so on. Beer just tastes so much better in the hot heat of a summer day while you are bbquing outside. And, that isn't happening for awhile. Undecided

Since I have been taking my tamox at night with something to eat, I haven't had an upset stomach.  Does everyone else take theirs at night?  My stupid oncologist never even suggested that.  You guys told me to try it.  So, thank you!

So sorry Peg and Lex that you are tired.  I am just my usual, whatever that is inre to being tired.  lol

Jealous of Harley  Jealous of Harley  Jealous of Harley     But, also very happy for you!  Laughing

So glad you are feeling better, since you switched to taking the Big T in the evenings, with a little something to eat.  I take it at night, too.  but, I didn't have the problem with upset stomach, so I just take it before going to bed.

It's kinda funny, but alot of the women who were going thru tx when I was starting this wild bc ride seem to be way ahead of me...  they are celebrating their FIVE year cancerversary, so I have been feeling kinda left behind.  I am glad to see that I seem to be making some progress.

I think I'm going to try to go for a short walk, and hope it helps me to feel better.  I feel like crap right now...  my ears are so clogged...   a lady at work had some kind of inner ear infection.  I sure hope I didn't get it, too!!

Hey Harley!  I hope you aren't getting an ear infection.  Those can be really painful.  Should you call your doctor just incase and get something?

Don't feel like anyone is ahead of you Harley.  You just feel proud of how far you have come along.  I don't think we should ever compare ourselves to another bc survivor.  We are all so individual, don't you think?  I am proud of you!  We all are!

Glad your tummy is better Debby.  I take mine at nite too with some crackers or something and I think that helps.

How u doing Trish?  Let us know, ok?

Wine?  Did someone mention wine?  I will take a glass please with a lil bit of ice.  I like mine really cold sometimes.

Susie, I am hoping that you didn't blow away today.  We would miss you too much.  It is cold and windy here too.

    Hi J 414,

Yes, giving up the red wine was crappy (but I do allow myself one glass/weekend as my extra special treat).

I will be VERY INTERESTED  to keep i touch with the results of the study. Do you know if the study is still looking for volunteers?

BTW I am (and have been since pill #1) on 30 mg T

To All Us BOOZers (as opposed to boob-ers)

Just remember a glass of booze each  day increases the bc recurrance by 10% - don't mean to be a downer but that's what my onc nutritionion nurse told me. I thought my daily glass of white wine was OK until she told me that (instead of my beer with hops, and red wine with phytoestrogens). What a pain going to an all inclusive that includes all the  booze one wants to drink when one can't/shouldn't drink Cry

    Jeanne D,

No, I haven't called my primary care dr. ---yet...   I will see my onc on Friday, and I gotta go to work tomorrow... so  maybe when I see my onc, I will ask him what he thinks, because maybe he could give me a Rx for an antibiotic if that is the problem.  but I don't expect to get any help from him.

You are right... maybe what I said came out all wrong.  It isn't a race... What I meant was that when I started chemo, some of the other women who were on these boards were finishing chemo or had finished, and were starting the hormonal treatment.  So now, many of these women are finished with their treatments, and I still have awhile to go.   I guess I'm really looking forward to the time when I am finished the hormonal treatments.... for good.

Thanks for the support!  I am so very proud of EVERY ONE of you, too!!!

Hi Rguff.  I'm 50.  I was almost positive that's what it was but my GYN didn't want to take chances.  I would have never mentioned it to my GYN.  It was my onc who sent me to the GYN.

So Bonnie, you liked the cat, did ya?  lol  I love posting those because everyone seems to love them.  I have a blast looking for them to post.  And, some friends send them to me in emails, so, I just get lazy and use those.  Surprised

And yes, this thread is movinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn way fast.  I know I can't keep up so if I miss saying something to someone, don't take offense.  Just yell back at me to remind me.  Ok?

Caroline, I am sorry but this "boozer" is still going to enjoy her wine and beer.  I don't drink to excess.  Ok, maybe a couple of times.  lol  But, I have talked this over with my oncologist and he sees nothing wrong with it despite what some studies say.  And, even if he did, I would still have my drinks as I enjoy them.  I am not giving up everything just becuz I had bc.  I admire you for passing on the booze.  WTG!

Today it was in the 20's.  So, it was COLD!  The wind gusted up to about 53 miles per hour.  And, winter is still 2 weeks off!  OMG, what am I going to do?  lol

Hi Millie!  Hope everything is ok with you!

Harley girl - You are almost done!  2 to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    How are you feeling Trish?

I had a headache today.  I am still blaming it on the wine or the front with this cold blast.  Frown

LMAO @ Susie's latest funny picture!  Love it!  Laughing

Harley, I hope your onco can give you something.  You just might have an ear infection and you don't want to let that go.  And, you probably said it right about the others being done and you are still in treatment.  I just misunderstood.  I thought you were trying to compare yourself to others and noone is the same in this fight with bc.  Why are you continuing on with Al's Harley?  I don't remember why you said.  After I am done with tamox, I am done!

    Hi Millie D!Laughing

Haha at the cat drinking a beer Susie! A boozer, eh? I still drink too. I am not giving up all of my vices. We don't drink that much anymore, but, we still do when we go out.

It is cold here too.  Trying to figure out how many layers to put on before I leave.  How far is Spring?

Guess I am feeling lucky.  Only se I have had so far is the upset stomach after I took tamox.  Maybe it hasn't been that long to get more.  Undecided

Need to get going.  Have a great day tamoxitrain riders!

    Hello beautiful women...

    Jeanne D

I think I probably sound like I am trying to compare myself with others... my surgeon told me not to ever do this...   cause EVERYONE is different...

I just want to be DONE with all this bc crap!!    I'm switching cause, even though I am very young to be taking an AI, I couldn't have babies, cause I had very very early menopause.  So, my onc said that for us early menopause gals, it is sometimes better to start with Tamoxifen and switch to an AI...

I have gotta get going... gotta go to work...

...only ONE more Tamoxi pill to go!!  YIPPEE!!

    Hi Everyone,

Boy what we don't have to give up with the Big T.  I guess it's o.k. to have a beer or a glass of  (oh my....I wrote "sin"  here LOL)      Beer of Glass of Sin !   LOL   So maybe I'm thinking my glass of wine is a glass of sin?  Guess the BC people think so.  I do indulge myself still though a bit ....  or a good bit I should say ....more limited.

It's 21 degrees here and the winds are pretty horrid.  We had 10,0000 homes without electricity yesterday.  Thank GOD we weren't one of them.   All kinds of damage too with big trees uprooted.  I don't know how people stand it.  They'd have to go somewhere else to live because it's just too cold.       Glad you didn't blow away Susie !!!!  I saw you had winds too.

Hope all of you are snug as bugs in a rug.

    Good Evening Everyone!

Wow this board does move fast!!!  I love all the pictures you add Susie, where do you find them all?!!

Bonnie and others, I too still have my glass of wine.  I have restricted myself to one night a week, but I do enjoy a good glass of Merlot!

    Take care all!

So, Kelly and I are the one-night-standers-in-sin-women, unlike you others who are the real boozers Wink. I like Merlot as well and cutting it from before-T 5-6/week  to 1 makes me doubly enjoy it. But as someone said earlier on this thread, I feel the one as if it was more and my face seems to get red no matter what kind of wine I have. Ah well.

More snow, slippery roads, and w/end temps to be -29 C. Hope our plane will get off the ground Sat am. So if I am particularly quiet next week, you'll know why!

Harley, best of luck with the new med. I hope you'll check back from time to time and let us know how you are making out. Some of us also may end up doing the switch in a few years. Do you know what AI they're giving you?

Anyone know what happened to Rachael?

Hi Tamoxilovelywonderfulbcsurvivors!  Whew, that was a mouth full!

Lex, Chinese food sounded so good that I got it tonight for us.  And, may I say, it was GOOD!  Why do they always give you so much?  Even hubby couldn't eat all of it.  Ofcourse, I had several egg rolls.  I LOVE them!

Bonnie, glad that you didn't lose your power.  I saw on the news where many did.  It was still really windy here today and cold.  I think they said about -15 with the wind factor.  brrrrrrrrr  I was out in it, but, I had lots of clothes on and didn't get cold.  I had my seat heaters on in the suv and I was warm as I could be.  Smile

Since we live in the country, I MADE( lol )my hubby buy us a generator.  So, if we lose power, he can get that thingie going and we can still run everything.  I didn't actually make him.  I just told him that if we lost power ever again and we didn't have a generator that I was leaving forever.  lol  And, I meant it.  So, voila...a generator appeared!  Laughing

So Bonnie, want to have a Glass of Sin?  lol  I don't know if I like that.  I don't think it is a sin.  I don't think these people know what they are talking about half of the time.  Just look at soy.  NO you can't have it.  Then, YES, it is ok.  If I want a drink, I am drinking!  lolTongue out

Kelly, you like a Merlot?  I have really gotten into the Rieslings.  Lots don't like them, but, I do now.  A LOT   lol

Where are you jet setting off to Caroline?  Somewhere warm and exotic?  Come on..details!

Can't believe Harley..almost done!  WTG!  So happy for you!

Glad you only had the upset stomach Debby and no longer does it bother you.  Happy you have no other se's.  I think they take awhile sometimes, or, so I have been told.  We will see, huh?

So, how cold is it Bonnie and Susie?  This much  >>>  brrrrrrrrrrrr  LMAO

As always Susie, love your pic!  Where you get those, I have no idea, but, keep them coming.  I know I will always get a smile when I log on.  So, thanks!

Is it Congrats time Harley?  You are so lucky to be done!  And, it seems you got thru tamox with very few side effects?  Or, am I wrong?

Do Al's have a lot of side effects?  Or, less?  I don't know much about them.

You enjoy that wine Kelly.  I enjoy mine and noone will take it from me.  I have a glass right now in front of me.  We just got home.  Been out with some friends.  Had a great time!  We need to go out more.  We are such homebodies.  But, we both love to just stay home.

Need to finish this wine and drag myself to bed.

    Goodnight!

    Harley,

Hope you are feeling better today.  Let us know how your onc appt goes.  Here's my update.  I will disembarking the train soon.  I will be having a TAH-BSO before the end of the year.  I will probably still take tamox until my refill (3 months worth) is over.  I've had issues even before starting tamox, but tamox just aggrevated them to the point that my gyn & I have said enough.  You and I have just about started this journey on tamox at the same time, maybe we can start our AI journey too!!  LOL

    Take care all,

    Trish
