Everybody must be out celebrating the 4th of July. We are going to watch fireworks from our back yard. The city fireworks are only about a mile from our house so we get a good view. I think we must be the only city around that did not cancel them.
tomorrow I have my 3 month MO appt. Have lot's to discuss. He does not know anything about the nerve damage or the MX that I am planning. Then Friday I have a follow up with the pain Dr. then I will be free until Sept.

Sherry - Make room in your pocket for me so I can go along with you tomorrow. After I have a few days rest, I will go again with you on Friday. It is a great feeling to have the calendar clear of those darn doctor appts. I, too am free until Sept and then it is just routine stuff with the GP.

Jo I'll make sure I wear something with pockets. Thanks so much and it will be nice to have a clear calendar

Hello everyone!! Have missed you all! Lots of pages I had to catch up on here.

Sherry how cute your granddaughter must be!
Alicia so glad you are feeling better

Welcome to the new Tamox sisters here!
Happy Anniversary Jo! What a great story.
Know I'm missing some sorry!! But I read all of your posts...:)
About the Tamox for 2-3 years...(not so sure about the AI after as far as this article...I had also read that using Tamox for 2-3 years and then an AI for 2-3 years was perferrable, who knows??)..Anyway, this was something that I brought up to my MO and she said still better to take then not. But in the back of my mind I am still unsure of whether I will do the whole 5 years at this point. So many unanswered questions and unknowns. There is no "right way" really. Just have to make a decision and go with it. It was a study that was done that showed sometimes taking Tamox can lead to the harder to treat, more agressive ER negative type of tumor. Here is a link....

I've been busy busy...and that was a great thing honestly. I have struggled with the depression etc and that was so helpful. I've had a 20th wedding anniversary...a daughter that graduated high school, graduation party and a trip with my sister, niece, and daughter to NYC in the last 2 weeks! (and both my father's and mother's bdays!)
I have an upcoming reconstruction surgery (to FIX the first one!) on the 15th...less then two weeks away. I am having it in DC which is approx a little under 3 hours away...nervous. He is going to be fixing quite a few "issues", doing some fat grafting and also putting slightly smaller implants in, which is what I wanted to begin with. He agreed.
Sherry, I have my appt with my MO today also...1pm. I had my bloodwork drawn last week. With mine, I feel like I have so many issues that keep need to be looked at (anemia, slightly low WBC, that Protein C clotting issue) that I am just not looking forward to going today at all.
AND I asked her to do a tumor marker test at my last appt so get the results of that today too.....why did I ask for that?? UGH....
Not sure I will ever get used to this. I can relate to the heart palpitations...happens to me too, almost immediatley. The tamoxifen has been really really bothering my stomach lately. Kind of a burning unsettled feeling. Hard to explain but not fun. I was to stop taking it ten days before surgery which would be today....but honestly, on the way up to NYC last saturday I was having so much discomfort that I just thought "I do not want to feel this way the whole trip"....so I stopped a week early. I'm going to end up with a nice long break.
Nice to be feeling better off of it...but the down feeling still lingers.... 0 -
ECG so good to hear from you. glad you have been keeping busy. Also glad that you are having a revision to fix your issues from your first surgery. I know you were very dissapointed. I hope this PS will be able to fix everything for you. I am also going to talk to my MO about my low WBC and low RBC I think that is why I get every bug that travels through. My immune system just does not fight things off.

EastCoastGirl - Sounds like you have been busy. Happy 20th anniversary - belated. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery on your upcoming surgery. Let us know how your onc appt goes. Sure missed you. Try to visit more often.

PattiB! hey there...now I know why I couldn't use that nickname! (I use Patti B as my sign off in real life as well as on line!)
Sorry to see you here, but good to see a kindred name.

I am back Jo it was pretty uneventful. Did blood work. Will have my tumor markers back in a couple of days and will get those results then but I am sure they are fine. Filled in the Dr. on all my crap from the last three months. He really did not say a whole lot. He asked more questions about my hip than anything. Says that 6% of people develop arthritis from tamox so really don't know if it is from rads or tamox or even if I have arthritis. My x-ray was clear but he he said you really need an MRI to know if it is arthritis. After the first of the year I may insisit on one since I'll be having my surgery I could go ahead and get all that other stuff done in the same year since I will be meeting my out of pocket. I would really like some definate answers as to why I am in such pain if I don't take the celebrex. He seems concerned that I am going to have stomach problems being on Celebrex long term, but I told him unless he had some other miracle drug to give me I was not going to stop taking it because I cannot walk without limping otherwise. So he did not push the issue after that. He really did not have a whole lot to say about the nerve pain. He took lots of notes. But then at yoga tonight I had some really weird sensations in my hand that I have not had before and it really scared me. But I see the pain Dr. on Friday so I will discuss it with him, he had mention before about getting a CT scan to see the mapping of my nerves so I may end up getting that done. Oh I have to go for a bone density scan and I have to start taking Fosomax. Not excited about that at all, but the pain Dr recommended it last time as well so i guess I better do it. I'm just kinda sick of drugs. So Pain Dr on Friday then free until Sept when I see the PS and back to the MO in October. will be so nice to have some time off

Sherry - It is a great feeling to have time off from doctor's appts. Other than seeing my family doctor every 3 months - have been doing this for many years so I consider this routine - I am free until Dec when I see my MO again.
Glad things went well. I do hope someone can find the source of your hip pain - that really sucks. I am kinda tired of drugs too but what else are we supposed to do?

Sherryc, I am convinced I developed arthritis from Tamoxifen. I never had it before and now I have it and I'm only 47.

HI girls !
Sherry glad all went well at the dr.
ECG ~ nice to see you. Enjoy your tamoxifen break, and hoping all goes smoothly with your upcoming revision surgery.
JO ~ sweet story, that must of been hard newly married and apart for 1 year.
Chabba and JO thanks for the fireworks. I had both sides of the family over for a total of 21 on the 4th. WHEW ~ glad that's over. Summer has been busy running kids around and the constant friends rotating through the house/pool throughout the day !
August starts dr's for me again...... lung ct scan to see if there is any change with the nodule they saw last, and my oncologist for bloodwork... blah blah blah, hating dr's. UGH ! But that is a month away so I am trying not to think about it.
Feeling pretty good, just the usual aches and pains. I swear I too have arthritis. I am so stiff and move like I'm 100 after sitting for a bit. Slow and steady till things get moving.

Have a great rest of the week my friends.

Hi Alicia - It was hard to live with my parents and be married - they wanted to put restrictions on when I could come and go. They couldn't get used to idea their "little girl" was not theirs to boss around anymore.
Just let me know when your doctor appts are so I am jump in your pocket and be with you on those days. Make sure there is plenty of room for the other gals too. LOL

PitPat - Sorry you ended up on the BC board also. As for the screen name - great Patti s think alike. LOL
I Have had joint pain even prior to BC but never had the bursitis before - I can actually feel the inflammation (little lumps) in elbows and hips (cortisone shot in the most painful hip didn't really help), also have pain in shoulder joint now - most likely the bursa sack too. My feet hurt when I get out of bed and after being off them for an extended time too.
Have a good rest of the week all.

welcome PITPAT.. SORRY we had to meet this way! but welcome!
I also have trouble with my knees they hurt after I have been sitting awhile and sometimes just plain old hurt.. good old Tamoxifen I believe!

Tink - What day is your surgery on? Will you have to stay in the hospital? Let me know so I can be with you and hold your hand. You have to remind me, what are you having done? Can't seem to remember things like I used to. Hope the mood swings level out. (((HUGS)))

Its wed at 1230. it is outpatient. I am having revisions done from the breast reconstruction some fat necrosis removed and fat grafting done evening things out and tucking things back where they should be lol.. I would love for you to hold my hand! thanks

Yes Tink I will be there to. Just let me know when it is and I hop right in your overnight bag. Sometimes nothing beats a good cry.
I just want to see if any of you gals noticed any strange bruises when you started the Tamoxifen? My counts were really low when I was doing chemo, but I never had any strange bruising. Then I noticed last month I started to have bruises on my arms. They dont hurt, but it does concern me. I do take a baby asprin everyday also. That may have something to do with it. I'm just abit confused about them.
I hope everyone has a fun filled evening. Take care Sherry and Tink. You are both on my mind.
