Hi ladies, haven't been on for awhile. Had my 3 month check with ONC & we discussed Tammi. She had taken me off on Jan 9th due to the hives I had. She said I absurdly have to take something; otherwise my recurrence rate is 25-30%. She said there were cancer cells in 2 of my nodes but not enough to be considered "positive nodes". That confused me but also scared me. I have been believing there was no C cells since my BMX in Sept.

So, I' m going with a different mfg, Mylan & will take 10mg am & 10 mg pm. I was taking Teva 20mg before.

She also did bloodwork to check my hormone levels & wants me to get bone density test in preparation for an AI if the hives start on Tammi.

Will pickup the Tammi tomorrow & start again. I'm hoping it will be better this time.

Deb, I'll be in your pocket Mon.

Oh Deb I for sure will hunt you done a specail boy toy!

Well even though I have had the cooties this past few weeks, I have had no Tammi pain for about 4 days.  Its been so wonderful.  I fell like doo doo from the cooties, but I would rather have that issue going on then the pain anyday thats for sure.

Sherry have fun with the grandkids this weekend.

I realized the other day that the rx I go to is not consistent with where the Tam comes from last month it was Te a and this month Mylan... I am going to stop by there and say something if and why aren't they consistent.. that can't be good hun?

Sandee.. the clothes swap does sound like fun and your so right everyone wins! Great

Hope all my dear Tammy girls have a great day

    Hugs

Deb, will be in your pocket on Monday.  Will also look forward to approving the eye candy from Paula.

My sisters (along with SIL, neices, & my mom) and I did a clothes swap last fall - great fun!  The year before we did a jewelry swap.

I checked my tammi and it is Teva - got a 3-month supply and have noticed minimal SEs compared to those when I first started the drug - not sure what the manufacturer was then.  I agreed to committing myself to 3 months at a time if the MO would write for it rather than 1 month at a time.  She was happy enough to do that as she really wants me on it.  And so I figure if SEs occur or change, I will revisit, but for now, am doing fairly OK except for occasional flair-ups of pain.

Maria, Sandee, Jo, Shipmom, Newfmama, and all the rest - have a good afternoon!

Linda- great tip about getting 3 months per script.  I have onc appt next week to discuss ht. Glad to hear your se's are minimal.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in Deb's pocket very early Monday morning. In the meantime, have a great weekend!

I noticed that my newest bottle is from Mylan and I've always gotten mine from Teva and I have noticed more side effects for sure - had to go back to taking half in the morning and half at night - the achiness was just so annoying.  I'm sure other people do better on Mylan or another manufacturer.  I am definitely going to get my next one from Teva just to see if SEs go away.

Wow girls I never really paid to much attention to the manufacturer until the other day when I was looking at the bottles.  I started the new bottle the other day and I noticed that since Sunday I have had no pain.  How do we get it so it comes from just the one manucaturer?

Paula - You may be able to ask your pharmacist if you can get it from the same manufacturer.  I have been on Tammi for over a year now and mine is from TEVA.  Very minimal SEs. - hotflashes?  Thing of the past.

Do certain pharmacies only carry certain brands? For instance, does Walgreens only carry Teva and CVS carry Mylan?

I had been filling mine at Kroger and it came from Teva every month so far (since July)  - I switched it to Meijer to get a $20 coupon for a transfer, but when I noticed that one came from Mylan I asked the pharmacist and she said that they (Meijer) always get Tammi from Mylan.  So I guess when I go next month, I'll take it back to Kroger and then ask them if they always get from Teva or does it vary.  Maybe some pharmacies do it one way and some do it another, but the pharmacy should be able to tell you before filling it where they get it from.

I get mine at Safeway and it always changes where it comes from. Sometimes its even in a regular medicine bottle so I don't know...

I've gotten mine at Kroger since September of 2009 and it's still TEVA.  But they do change I think because one of my other prescriptions has had at least 3 suppliers.

Lost my freind Tracey from book club today.  She fought BC for 10 years but today the beast won.  They sure do need to find a cure for this hated disease.  Rest in Peace my friend.  You will be sadly missed.

So very sad to hear about your friend, Tracey.  The world is losing too many wonderful women...friends, mothers, sisters and daughters to this "beast" of a disease.  Hugs to you during this tough time.

Off skiing for a week, will check in from Vermont girls.  Good luck to all this week.

I change from Teva to Mylan one week ago and I have less hot flashes, night sweats, join pain and depression. Maybe also could be that I have been now 2 months on Tamo and the SE are less... Who knows, but I will keep taking Mylan because it has worked better for me so far Wink

Ralston, your message is encouraging.  I will pickup my new Mylan on Monday and start Tamo again.  I've been off a little over a month and most of the SE's have disappeared (especially the hives/rash which was the worst, well maybe the depression was the worst, hard to decide).  I'm hoping the new mfg gives me less SE's.

Peg, I am so sorry you lost a friend and we all lost a sister in the BC world.

Darn!!! They have to find a better way to treat this stupid disease.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

1openheart - I take 1 tablet - 5000mcgs every day at breakfast with all the other pills I have to take.  Another thing that will help with thin nails is gelatin and/or Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Polish.

I have been on Tammi since Jan 2011 and my nails are so much better since I started  taking Biotin about 6 months ago.  I had bad hair loss in the beginning - now you would never know the difference.

so sorry about your friend.....such sorrow.\

As for the meds..guess it makes sense to stay on which ever brand gives you the fewest side affects...ask directly for it or change to a pharmacist that carries it. My pharmacist, the 4 months i was on it, warned me in advance that it was changing...the original company had run out of an ingredient and it was back ordered so they had to get it from a different company which used different binders etc....

Geez ladies a lot of activity since last week, sorry I have been MIA just an insane week....

Jo OMG I cannot believe the luck you have had.  I am so glad that they could give you cortisone shots to relieve your pain.  Please keep us updated as to what will happen next.

Linda so sorry you had to lose a friend to this beast.....thinking of you!

Okay so I have to confess as I joined weight watchers as I am tired of my weight going up and up and up.  So I finished week 1 with a loss of 2.6 lbs and now I am onto week 2 fingers crossed ladies as with losing my Dad and not being able to walk with all my foot problems I needed to get serious for a change....so wish me luck ladies.

Miss each and every one of you and cannot wait for the pocket party with Deb as I miss the laughter ladies and of course the pics posted from Paula.....HUGS to you all!!

Peg, I am sorry for your loss

Sandee, WW is an effective program for many people to lose weight, but the trick as always is keeping it off. In that regard, WW is like any other diet--it has a high rate of failure, if failure is defined as the weight coming back on. Your weight remains private at WW meetings; only the person weighing you sees it. You can also do WW online for more privacy.

I was on WW 10 yrs ago and lost about 40 lbs.  I have managed to keep it off.  I am hoping that the Tamoxefin does not put weight on me.  I lost about 4 lbs when I first started taking it.  I'm up a couple of pounds in the past few weeks.  Hard to know what causes the fluctuations.

WW is great.  I found the trick to be the journaling.  It made me more accountable for what I put in my mouth!

Jo, thanks for telling me about how much Biotin you are taking.  I think I'm going to have to give it a try.  So far my hair is OK, but my nails are just disintegrating before my eyes.
