Alice to be honest I don’t think they will be too open to criticism lol. Why are you going to dinner at the church? For your son? I have a friend who invites me to her church for holiday dinners even though I don’t practice. The food is great and I always feel guilty but the people are sweet. I’m like Kerry they must be trying to recruit me if they tell you to bring a friend. But they don’t. I’m like you though. Usually I can’t hold it in if I’m thinking it. But mostly with work and dr 😂

I wonder if it counts as "falling away from the faith" when you cage kids?

What about pussy-grabbing? That may count too.

Last, I wonder why politics is less welcome in this thread than religion?

santabarbarian, Perhaps politics is now more stress inducing than religion or the lack there of.

Santa do you mean this thread or moderators won’t allow a political specific thread at all? Just curious.

There is 2liberal political threads here that don’t show up in active topics. The conservative thread went dark over a year ago. The mods can explain it to you. PM them, or maybe they’ll step in now.

Normally I think its right to keep politics out.... since cancer does not discriminate, and we're really all here about cancer.

However, here my point here is that this poster feels free to dollop religion into an atheist thread, no problem, even though it is just as disrespectful if not moreso. So I dolloped back, so to speak.

Even MILD political expressions are frowned upon here (probably rightly), but people feel free to contribute 'God talk' in the atheist thread. Such disrespect... stunning.

She’s popped up here before, seems unable to understand this thread and TO KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT. As most evangelicals can’t.

Guess it’s time for the mods to remind her again.

More than that she is saying that atheists and those who don't follow religion are bringing on the end times. After she's raptured, do you think I can have her car?

I'm not at all sure our President is Christian but we understand it doesn't matter. God has often used the lost to fulfill his purposes. By the looks of things, it looks like God knows what He's doing!

No, you can't have my car. Just got it...hottest car on the road. LOL

Sorry - I don't believe in the "end of times" when the guy in the sky's supposed to zap us all. The consideration is what we ourselves are doing to the earth. Climate change is serious.

Ananda - we've had a mild winter too. I did prune my roses according to conventional wisdom on Valentines Day - which is supposed to be the coldest time of winter. Oops - our temps were 78 that day. But I too have pruned all my bushes & cleaned out all my beds. Hesitating about the fertilizing. It's supposed to be 32 degrees Wednesday night.

Spewing scripture on an atheist thread is about the laziest thing a Christian/Evangelical can do, and frankly, it shows lack of intelligence because there won't be any changing of the minds here with her posts. Shouldn't this woman's talents and time be spent feeding the homeless, clothing the poor, giving care to the elderly? After all, that hot vehicle oughta take ya somewhere....

OOps - I posted before reading to the end of the last page. I assumed Ananda posted about her garden as sort of a "la, la, la - my ears are closed" - which is why I did too, in case some of you are thinking I'm crazy. I may be crazy, but like Devine - you'd think the troll would understand we're just laughing AT her.

For me, it is a matter of respect. I think I'm a live and let live person. If some people believe in the god of the bible, fine, I respect that. I would not invade their beliefs. Since this thread title specifically calls out to atheists, Jesus believers need not apply. I absolutely will not allow someone to come after me and shame me for my beliefs or nonbeliefs. Most especially not a Church lady. It is so freeing to be away from that. But I guess if your church gives you no power, you might go out and try to drum it up elsewhere.

I think those believers who bother us are very insecure and lonely people. I don't think their posts are actually motivated by faith.

Amanda, I agree. I often wonder if they are afraid we are right and that truly scares the shit out of them. Maybe if they can convert us they can rest in their fairy tale waiting for the hereafter (missing out on the here). What I really hate is the hypocrisy of feeling like we should respect their beliefs but they don’t have to respect ours. I’m happy for others to be comforted in their faith, I just wish they could be happy for my beliefs and sources of comfort (top of the list is tollhouse cookies :-) ).

Got into a convo with a nice, church going woman while working. Must have been in the fall, Christmas and Halloween was coming. Told her how Samhain was a pagan festival. That it’s been proven Jesus was born in spring, that a pope in the 3rd century decided to outlaw Yule so his birth celebration could overshadow Yule. That Easter is a pagan fertility fest.

She knew none of that. Predates all of the guy in the sky fantasy. Wars have been fought for centuries over this, still are.

Too bad they can’t accept our way vs their highway .

Hi all. I’ve been doing Weight Watchers and hang out in their social media app Connect. I have taken to blocking members who post scripture and there are a lot of them. I felt guilty at first given how many I was blocking, but I just don’t want to see that crap - keep it to yourself. It doesn’t belong on a weight loss app.

There are plenty of people who post prayer requests and I just scroll past them, but the big scripture pictures I can’t handle. I wasn’t this intolerant until they started affecting policy change, and now any mention of it is like nails on a chalkboard. I also blocked the one who describes herself as His princess. Good grief. I can’t even.

In better news, I have lost 22 pounds. I’m working out, more or less, and my tumor markers are falling. I have another test on Monday and scans at end of month, and those are always stressful, but hopefully all will be well.

Hoping all of you are well too. I’ve been lurking since I sometimes can’t control my tongue, but keeping up with all of you.
