    JUST the right speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i was a brand new college graduate (nearly 30 years ago) i was substitute teaching in a middle school -- i was stopped for a hall pass -- and then had to promise i was an adult

    LOL

at the time i was truly crushed

now i don't mind when people think these babies are 'mine'

Laughing out really loud about that confusion!!

Hi ladies, yes it is my new camera..I just love it..

not a real fancy one, but it works for me..I basically

    just take snapshots..

For the collage, I use print shop and put them on a sheet then

    export them as JEPG

If you want to print them you have to do it directly from Print Shop

for the best ones..if you put printing on it, it comes out blurry in

    Jpg..

     You set a beautiful table

socal lisa, i love those flowers, expecially the 2nd row from the top, the one on the far right---look at the pinwheel on that baby....took my breath away!!! thank you lisa.  our table is so gorgeous!

jasmine, edith piaf was a very famous torch singer in the Paris of bohemia...lived and died tragically.  also, check out the group named Ziaf,  twenty-something females who do a whole repertoire of Edith Piaf songs.  the lead singer is Christine Zufferey (incredible voice) who is French-Canadian.  they used to play at the Lizard Lounge in the Boston area but they are touring Europe frequently now.

Hi Spar, socalLisa, celia, Jaz, Faith, Robin, Wings, Foots, Ames &

Neesie where ever you are.  Flyby didn't do her flyby today.

SocalLisa, what lovely flowers you bring to the table.

The format is wonderful cuz we are able to enjoy so many roses at once.

    I like that format.

I was glad to see you almost made it to the beach.

Faith,  I reboot on a continual basis and clean the cookie jar and temp files.

It's like garbage pick up day and I know my computer gives out a huge sigh of relief.

Robin,  I'm glad you like your new flip floppers.  Standard foot wear around here.

Or sandels.  What ever suits the fancy of our feet.

Robin, Forget your problems and have fun on the beach when here.

    *

celia.  Our beautiful Big Sur is dangerously threatened by the fires.  People are being evacuated.

Our poor state is being incinerated while other states are flooding and drenched.

It makes no sense at all.

"As the lightning-sparked blaze crept closer to California's coastal Highway 1, fire engines stood guard next to rustic buildings as thick smoke and ash drifted over the Pacific Ocean."

spar.  I love Nora Jones voice.  So tranquil.

    *

We watched the DVD "The Other Boleyn Girl" tonight and I enjoyed it.

I love to read history and biographies and to see a historical adaptation once in awhile.

Hey Jaz, I talked with my brother tonight also and asked him the "Minnow" question.

He didn't know the answer.  I was shocked.  I told him the answer and he laughed.

What a great day on the beach today.  Love it sooooooooo much.

    *Ames~ Have a wonderful trip!

Good morning Beach Angels.  Halleluhah its finally Friday.  I'm sitting here waiting for my coffee to brew.  I think the pump in my Mr. Coffee is going out because it takes forever and a day now.

Wings -- so glad to see you back.  You were missed!

Spar2 -- I love Norah Jones too!  She is one of today's very unique artist along with Josh Groban, Michael Buble'.  So many today all sound the same.

Robin -- the offer still stands.  Remember, a friend will help you move but a really good friend will help  you bury the body.

Sahalie -- I'll see if I can find a new puzzle for today.  That was fun yesterday.

Faith -- good luck with the babeez today.  I agree about not liking it when people thought I was a kid when I was in my younger days but I do like looking younger now.

Surprise song of the day!  Here's a little Norah Jones to get your day started.

    Happy Friday All

I hope Ames smoothly sailed today on the journey of her vacation.

Doozy of a quiz Jaz.  Most thought provokingly interesting filled with history.  I love it.

Faith.   Ohhh I hate that babies have to get shots.

So much is in the news these days about how the pediatricians give mega watt doses and many more at one time than we got as little people.

I hope our babeeze do well with the sticky poke and come back home with coos and giggles.

How did it go last night with the entire family at your house?

I hope Sarah's AC gets delivered today.

Do you get to relax this weekend with dh and look back over your Aruba photos.

I like the boat you found for the beach.  Thank you mucho.

    *

WINGS.  Winged one.  Lighthouse wings.  It is sooooooo wonderful to see you.

Welcome home to people who think the world of you and have arms to give you many hugs.

    *

Spar.  Good morning to you too and I wish you a great day and weekend.

Your bright shiney smiley face always makes me smile when I see it.  Smiley's do that.

    *

    NOTES FROM HOME:

Fires are getting closer up in the Ukiah area about an hour from here.

This whole lightening stike thing is nutso.  I hear about these things happening in Nevada and sometimes up in our Sierra Mountains but all over our state?

The paper this morning reports face masks and air purifiers are flying off the store shelves.

Twenty percent chance of new lightning strikes this weekend.  What the Heck!

The Los Padres forest Big Sur (breath takingly beautiful) blaze inches toward coastal town.

My county is to take precautions. We are told "do not go outside"

    *

I'm going to the farm today no matter what.

I need to check on things and trees and get out of here for awhile.

I'm going nuts and need a diverson.

    *

Thank goodness for the aqua colors of the waters here at the beach and the traquility it brings.

    See you later gators.

Big Sur is one of California's treasures.  It has been hit by horrible fires before and come back to be the most beautiful jewel of the California Pacific coast.

I have spent many wonderful times in Big Sur all during my life.  Celia has too.

We have not been there at the same time but Big Sur is a must see quest of enlightenment for all to experience.  It draws every make, model and delightful persons from all over the globe.

Much like our wonder of the world YOSEMITE.

Not quite in the same realm but close.

For those of you who are not familiar with Big Sur here are a few tid bits.

It is close to San Simeon ~ Hearst Castle. I've visited three times.  It is a national wonder.

Oh to be at one of those parties back in the day.

It is close to Monterey.  Home of Cannery Row, the best Aquarium I have ever been too.

Pebble Beach.  Homes with boulders between walls.

Anno Nuevo Reserve where the elephant seals come to give birth each year.

Too many wonders to post.  Oh and Carmel.

I love to walk the small streets with zillion dollar cottages covered dripping in rose scented vines and potted ferns.

Teal shutters on windows and all brick walkways.

The smell of the sand, ocean and seaweed at the bottom of the hill main street, Carmel.

Home of Clint Eastwood, Doris Day and countless other smart people who bought when buying was still within reach of normal prices.

    *

    About Big Sur:   Ocean Extraordinary.

Big Sur is a thinly-settled region of the central California coast where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean.

This geology produces stunning views and has become a magnet for global tourism.

Although Big Sur has no specific boundaries, most definitions of the area include the 90 miles of coastline between Carmel and San Simeon, and extend about 20 miles inland to the eastern foothills of the Santa Lucias.

Cone Peak, the second-highest mountain in the Santa Lucias, features the steepest coastal elevation increase in the lower 48 states, ascending nearly a mile above sea level, only 3 miles  from the ocean.

The mountains trap most of the moisture out of the clouds, often in the form of morning fogs, creating a favorable environment for forests, including the southernmost habitat of the coast redwood. (YEAH REDWOODS.)

Farther inland, in the rain shadow, the conifer forests disappear and the vegetation becomes open oak woodland, then transitions into the more familiar fire-tolerant California chaparral scrub.

    *

I pray the "more fire-tolerant California chaparral scrub fends off the firey beast headed its way.

    *

    Man O' man.

Jaz.  You find the most wonderful brain teasers so keep on doing just that.

I just happen to love reading about history with some Cuba thrown in and Librarians are very high on my favorite list.

Revolutionary's of all types are intriguing to me and I love reading about them especially from any revolution point, Spain, Cuba, Bolivia, etc.

    All of it.

It was the "minnow" that threw me for a loop.

See you all laters.  Time to back out the surf guzzler and heard west to the farm.

    morning beachettes,

i have sunshine in my gloomy temporary pacific northwest and i have many errands to do today.

i am so happy we have heard from wings who is going thru much.  wings i hope things are getting smoother and better after such sadness in your world.

faith, oh the poor babeez must get shots....owie. faith i am looking for a small box to send you my project that you can enjoy.

jasmine, i missed today's contest but maybe i will catch one later.  i had to abdicate my title as Island Queen to sahalie because she won the ipod contest and it looks like she has won today's contests too.

sahalie, i read your comments about Big Sur and the fires last nite and looked online for news.  i read that Henry Miller's Library was threatened by the fires and i was filled with sadness at the whole situation. His library is okay for now.  i don't know if the library was created at his cabin in Partington ridge or if it is in another place nearby, but it is horrible that such a magnificent place in the world as Big Sur should have any of it destroyed. I am sad that there might not be any of my California that i love left for when i return someday.  sahalie, i think you should have a beach hut for a library to display your beautiful and spiritual word paintings.  i will look for real estate today for this project.

socal lisa, your most complex flower that i pointed out yesterday has made me think of pinwheels so these are for you.

and the Grande Finale as they say for fireworks on the Fourth:

    see you all later!

oh sweet Celia, how you brighten our beach with your eye for design and detail..... i thank our sweet Angels for directing you to us. i can't wait to see what you've done for others who will be so appreciative of your talents and effort.

it seems i need to tie a ribbon around my finger these days, to remember my errands...... yesterday i'd lost the directions to the library -- sent weeks ahead of time. thank goodness i was able to find them. what on earth did we do before mapquest?

sahalie, your words are a balm to my barren ears. i am so grateful to your poetic posts. i look forward to each of your missives. will be praying for relief from so much upheval.

jasmine, i wish you could have witnessed WB with the Nora Jones video..... he was singing back up and was outstanding on the 'whoo-hooo-oooo-oooooo's throughout. We watched it at least 3 times before departing for the pediatrician.

we made it thru all of the shot giving, without me breaking down. they each let out mighty screams, but then were calmed fairly quickly. that office/pediatrician, should receive an award!!they are ALWAYS on time. the appointment was for 11:05 and we were ushered back at the stroke. we were back in the car @ 11:35, following a very thourough and personable appointment for two -- plus all the shots. i just love excellance! [she had a new med student in tow and he looked almost old enough to have a paper route. LOL. made me think of getting asked for my hall pass.... funny, funny.]

i wore my pink flip-flops with the orange polka dots..... it empowered me to think that you were all there -- holding my hand (i just deplore shot-day)

will try to get back in later today with some incredible quilt images from a show i was able to attend..... you'll love 'em, if i can find 'em..... what inspiration!

must go now for groceries for this house..... seems we're always in the house without any food??

    xx00xx00xx00xx00xx00xx00xx

Footie: pop in and let us know how you're holding up.

Margo fly thru when you have a chance. nEEsie I'm seriously missing you and your backhoe.

Welcome to Robin. nEEsie got the backhoe all oiled up for me earlier this spring -- with a MIL issue that needed her personal intervention. calmed me right down, just knowing it was available.

Susan...... on the lookout for your sense of humor. Can you zoom thru this weekend?

Winger, take good care of yourself in the moving process. That's always stressful under the best of circumstances.

Ames: if you have a chance to read this, have safe travels. i'll be asking for travel mercies for you. we had our original honeymoon in Maine and i have the best memories of bed and breakfasts up and down the coast..... sleeping up with the widow walk views...... lupines in bloom on every hillside. see if you can get some good lupine pictures. so Maine, so very Maine.

soCal: thank for your explaination of the rose collage. it was greek to me, but i understood it to mean that it's something you did outside of this site and then were able to post as a whole collage?? so much to learn, so much to learn..... but thanks for attempting to clue me in

spar: i too just love seeing your smiley avatar!! it's truly the simple things that tickle my giggles

deborye: i had to back off from chat, because it's so purely addictive.... so i substituted boards addiction instead. LOL. i love it here, because of the possibility of the visual images at our beach

groceries: how can we possibly be out of peanut butter? it's the only think i can cook!!
