IT is short and not all filled in with hair but it is just time and will try with goin to excercise class tonight.  I am goin to be teaching elementary classes soon and not sure if i will be ready for that environment wigless???? Tonight i am goin wigless to my excercise class and will be my first step!!!

Listening to what Chelev did and others here has given me the courage !!GOOD GOING to those who are out there free and wigless!!!!!!Why is this sooo hard to do??

Donna, I remember "going topless". .... soon you will have a mop of hair!

Lori, YES, I am liking the short hair. apparently, I look younger this way, or maybe it's the curls. Whatever the heck it is, I am GOING WITH IT for now! :)  And you can't beat short curls. There is nothin to do with them but let them curl! :) I dont' even have a comb or brush.... and no issues with whatever shampoo.

This is all new to me. I had the fussiest craziest hair before. Do you all think this is just a phase? I've heard that in like 12-18 months your hair slowly goes back tot he way it was.... I wonder...

I am hoping Spring, that it will go back to normal. I want my gentle, long waves back! I continue to post my monthly pictures, Sept 25th will be a year for me from last chemo. No sign of the real hair I had previously!

Donna, you will get there! Baby steps.

As for facial hair, I left mine be and tried to ignore it. Eventually, I looked in the mirror one day and it was gone! I too was affraid of getting stubble, but other gals have shaved, waxed, etc. and all was fine. So..........make your choice! We all have choices, and have to go with what we are comfy with!

    Hi all,

I saw my step-granddaughter who is 5 years old yesterday for the first time since all of this started.  I was talking to her Mom about not wearing the wig yesterday, just my baseball cap with hair, because it was just too hot for the wig.

Hannah pipes up "grandma, why do you wear a wig" - wel, hmmm, well, uh - "Hannah, grandma had to take some very special medicine and it makes my hair go away for a little while and then it will come back." So, Hannah says, "Why are you wearing a hat? My daddy doesn't have a lot of hair, and he doesn't wear a hat." Grandma replys - "You're right Hannah" and off came the hat!

You know what she says - "You have hair Grandma (my 1/4" fuzz), my Daddy is just shiny on top" - Ya gotta love 'em.  So, DonnaDio, your students will probably be fine - we have the most problems with it!

Geri, you are absolutely right!!!  Donna, go for it!!!!  I promise you it is way more comfortable and I think it even helps the hair grow a little better because it's getting fresh air and circulation.  I loved my wigs, they are beautiful, and I was very trepiditious about going without a wig, because I always want to look my best, and don't feel I am at my best now - my face is way too round without hair, but as I was telling my mother this weekend when I saw her, and she asked if I was going to bring a wig to the Dream Ball and have it professionally styled instead of getting a hair makeover, I said no way - this is who I am right now and my hair is a badge of courage and strength and it proves that I made it through the hell of chemo and am living to fight and be me.  Even if I don't have enough to warrant a real styling or makeover, they can at least color it and maybe trim up some of it, and if that's all that gets done, that's what will happen.

Go for it!!  You will be amazed at how freeing it is.

Good girl Donna....YOU DID IT! So proud of you and you should be proud of yourself! Feels good, doesn't it.

Jane, you don't have to apologize for anything here. We love when someone shares pictures, at least I do! You are beautiful and I will not ignore your face. We are all beautiful, even though we don't feel like it. I know I don't most times! We go through this journey together, supporting one another. Hand in hand, a hair strand at a time.

    Hi Ladies!

I was curious if any other curly-haired ladies have tried a relaxer (for those that don't like the curls). My curls are tight curls that I can't seem to do anything with. I am going for another "lesson" with my hairdresser on friday. He suggested we put a light relaxer on it. I am worried abotu damage but he said it will be a "light" one just to relax them a bit.

Awesome! That was a great idea to have a hair journal, Ms Sharon. One of these days I will learn how to add a photo to a post....we registered with one of the photo sites they suggested, but it still doesn't work. I have white furlike hair growing....about 1/4 in and it's only been 6 weeks since I quit the abraxane......then there are some longer hairs(about 3/4 in) that stick up and sort of curl over and a few, very few, dark ones just starting. Where my eyebrows should be it looks like smudged eye shadow or bruising and when I looked really close could see little hairs so it's my eyebrows under the skin waiting to push through. I am amazed cuz it seems to be coming back fast, but it also took me a long time to lose it.

CristlC, I have not tried it, but if you do it......you HAVE to post pics and let us know how it goes. I just use a large barrel hot curling brush, and I am sure that is burning my hair and adding to the frizzies! My curls are tight too.

Jamie, you are gettin there! At least you have the coverage now. No curls yet? Love your term "gerber curl".

Getting hair back is sooo cool. Wish my eyebrows would grow too. I use a waterproof brown mascara like product that you really have to scrub to have come off. Lovin it. I got it at the beauty supply. I am using that real expensive  eyelash stuff too. (it was a gift)Innocent

I threw my back out Yellbut it is getting better already.SmileI am losing weight and growing hair. Cleaning house (the garage is next) Getting my groove back for work. All is good!!!! Hope the same for all (or better)Cool

I thought I was out of the woods for curls but it looks like I could be wrong after seeing soaplady's pictures.

Christi~ My friend who is a hairdresser in Fl. recommended a treatment that would relax the curls if my hair comes back curley.  I know it was expensive but she said it wouldn't damage my hair and it would be more managable.  Good luck and I hope he can come up with something that you are comfortable with.

    How to post pictures.

    directions

Here are instructions of how I post pictures from photobucket.

You need to create an account with photobucket.

I have circled in red, things to look for.

You will need to have both websites up BC.org and photobucket

Upload the pictures from your computer to photobucket.

After the picture is uploaded to photobucket, when you move your mouse over the picture, you get different options. Left click on the HTML code, it will highlight, you want to right click and "copy".

Then go to bc.org and click on the little green tree, paste what you copied into the spot that says Image URL and then click insert.

Usually, you get a double picture and some type, erase the type, right click on one of the pictures, and cut it out.

You can then preview to see if that is how you want it, or submit it.

Jaimieh - love the Gerber's!!!  Mine is still trying to fill in the bald spot on top, but getting thicker at the back of my head.  After seeing soaplady's progress, it looks like 1) I am right on schedule and b) may not have escaped the curl wagon either, since it takes a little longer for those curls to come in.  Oh well, curls or straight, hair covering the head is hair covering the head!

Donna - Thank you for those kind words!!  I am proud you are now wigless - you will get more and more used to it and some days you don't even realize you have uber short hair (you're not a baldie anymore!!) - I swear I look in the mirror from time to time and am surprised it's still that short.  Well, and I try not to look at the round face, etc., like goldie said, we are all beautiful!!

re posting pics, I do the same as Lori above, but I use Picasa.com. Basically, you just need to get your photo's on the web with an html address. Then you can post here. :)

Sharon....Great to see the hair journal and it the progress as shown!!! Great idea.goin on 2 mos feel this will take forevert to grow. Taking the wig off certainly took the anxiety off of hiding under a wig and after awhile, that is what seemed to have hindered me emotionally to get out of that coccoon and get empowered!!!

Thanks for all the support and hope ALL of see that we are truly BEAUTIFUL !!!

    Not Wigging out anymore...

    Donna!
