You are almost there--probably another 2 weeks till you see some growth.  My first 1/4 inch was grey but natural color came back soon.  I kind of liked the buzzed look--thought I was cool--wear earrings--it makes the look complete.

My hair growth seems to have slowed a bit.  It is getting a little longer and a little thicker, but not much.  Especially not compared to the start.  I have been on Arimidex since 6/29, 2 weeks after last chemo.  Not sure if that is slowing things down, since I was on it since my hair started coming back.  Just not fast enough!!!

    Hi jancie,

Sorry, don't have a camera.  My friend Cheryl came by the other day and we did do some "dead" pics.  Dear friend Janzin started these as a way of thumbing our noses at Mr. Nasty.  It helps if you have a warped sense of humor.  Anyway they are pre-dye but go see  them on the Stop Smoking Support Thread if you need a good laugh.  I think ours are on the next to the last page.  If anyone is interested in seeing others, I'll look up the pages for you.  And before I hear anything negative, I want you to know I was close enough to death a month ago that my DS was calling crematoriums and my daughter bought an urn.  I am also terminally ill with megoblastic anemia but I will go out laughing!

    Jancie,

I use the aloe gel for getting moisture to my scalp and it looks like I used gel when I put it on.  I use it after a shower and before I got out.

I went to a wedding last night and a bunch of people thought that I chose to have this short buzz looking cut...lol....

My last chemo was June 16. While my eyebrows thinned a bit, they stayed. But today, my eyebrows came out and my lashes are thinning even more. I had a few hairs on my head and have been anxiously looking for signs of new growth .... maybe a couple of sprouts here and there. But for the past few days, hair has been falling out - can't tell if it's the few that stayed or the new ones. What's going on?????? I started Arimidex 10 days ago. I'm starting to get very anxious. Will my hair ever come back? Will my eyebrows grow back now. I don't understand what's happening.

Hi all, hope you are all having a good weekend.

Dawn - glad you are feeling better and enjoyed your family time. My hair is doing nothing at the moment, I am finding it very frustrating! Need to go looking for patience again.... I keep on losing it : )

Have a good day, thinking of you all,

It really is all about the hair....

I finished chemo on 2/27-hair started to grow back quickly on 4/15---- there was hair there before, but it really started to come back--- it is now thick and curly (my hair is straight) and I have had it colored twice since June---- it is a strange blondish color (my hair is brown) but I don't care--- I even had it cut a  little last time, but I am not going to do that this time (I have an appt this week) just a color... I do need  a style, and probably will try to do that in September---

My eyebrows thinned and my eyelashes thinned 4 weeks after chemo ended--- and both of my big toenails came off (growing back beautifully now--podiatrist said it is common).

they told me hair would grow back starting 4 weeks after the last treatment--it really was more like 6, but it grew quickly, like grass!!!

I gave up the wig on July 4th--I was completely done with that forever!!!

Jancie...yes, that was me that suggested the aloe vera. I read it online and posted a link about it. I have been using it on my scalp ever since. I put it on right after I shower. I am 7 weeks PFC and my hair is growing pretty good and getting thicker everyday.  Hopefully it is helping.  I have been taking Biotin and using Follicure shampoo too. I put the aloe vera on my eyebrows too and they are growing back in.

Christy - I remember seeing the link and going to the website but I didn't find the "application process" in the information on the site.

I bought some 100% aloe vera gel for my radiation treatments so I figured "why not use it on my hair" since the bottle is huge and will more than last me the next 5 weeks.  Now I know when I should be using it.

I am still taking 10, 000 mcg of biotin daily and using the mane and tail shampoo.  While I have a very "thick" head of hair - it is not very long.  I am guessing it is around 1" long and I am 3 months PFC.

My complaint right now - my leg hair is growing at triple the rate it used to grow.  And I have peach fuzz on my cheeks now.   Any cheap ideas on what to do with my facial peach fuzz?

Jancie, I broke down and waxed the fuzz off my face about 2 months ago.  I could not take it anymore.  I looked like a wooly mammoth.  So far there have been no repercussions from the waxing.  The fuzz that grew back was normal in density.

Jancie~ I swear we are on the same growth rate.  My husband keeps saying that I need to shave my face.  It's white but I have a ton of peach fuzz and I am scared to wax it because there is soo much of it.

Will the hair on my face come back as bristles if I shave it?  Like Jaimieh, I have so much I'm afraid waxing it will rip my face off.

    Thanks ladies,

    Nancy

I confess, I took a fresh razor and shaved the fuzz off my face about a week ago!!  I couldn't stand it either - looked like I was growing hair all over my face, but just white fuzz.  It wasn't stubbly and it hasn't seemed to come back either, so I think it worked.  What I think happens is when the hair follicles get turned back on after chemo, it signals the hair EVERYWHERE to grow, no matter where. Unfortunately, since our heads are at the top of the body, I think those signals are a little slower (sigh) - but really I think what it is is the fact that our heads have sooooo many follicles and we are so impatient to look like ourselves again, that we are making ourselves crazy because all of the follicles didn't turn on at the same time.  I am getting much thicker - exactly 4 months PFC, except for that darn thin spot at the top of my head - it's covered a little better with thin hair, but it's like the last to come in.

Helen, I'm so sorry you aren't seeing more results.  Have you seen your dermatologist?  They may have some suggestions for you, since it's been a while and you aren't getting anywhere.  Are you using Nixoin follicle booster?  I did that on my brows too - and they grew back fairly quickly, though from plucking the same hairs year after year, they didn't thicken up in the area I wanted them too.  but, they are back.

Dawn, doing okay!  Just came back from a weekend trip up to my mom's to help with some things she needed done around the house.  DH pulled his back out lifting boxes, but he is out there grunting and groaning cleaning the car.

Thanks for  the tip chelev.  This facial hair is really getting to me.  This sounds horrible but I even have hair running amok on the backs of my fingers and toes.  I hate it but at least it's blonde.

My husband laughed at me because I was using Mane and Tail.  He told me it's for horses and asked me if I cooommmmmb (making a horse sound) my hair!

Jane M - I have been using Mane & Tail on and off for 10 years now.  Ask your hubby if it is just for horses - why do they sell it in the major grocery and drug stores along with all of the other shampoos?   Maybe because humans have found that it works well with our hair?

I think I am going to hold off on doing anything with the facial fuzz.  I do have a $50 certificate at a spa - maybe I can have a facial done where they do a lot of exfoliating and it will come off?  I am scared to death to shave it.  My sister who had cancer shaved her moustache and it came back all prickly.  Didn't bother her until her young son asked her why her face was like his fathers.

I need to go shower and SHAVE THOSE DARN LEG HAIRS AGAIN!  I have always stopped at the top of my knees because my thigh hair was blonde and never long.  I looked down today and the hair on my thighs is not only DARK but 2" long at least!

Does anyone else have crazy cow licks?  I probably had them before but never noticed them.

Tonight I saw this very long hair on my scalp and I thought "Yay.....a full 1" hair on my head"  I pulled at it and it ended up being a dog hair instead Yell

Not sure if I told you what my cat has been doing lately at night.  She licks my scalp all over.  She has one scratchy tongue that if she stays on the same area, it actually hurts so I gently move my head around and give her another area to lick.  Figured many women were getting their dh's to do bedtime scalp massage, well my dh falls asleep hours before I do so my second best choice is to have this cat massage my scalp instead.

    Hello ladies,

I´m new here and probably asking a question that has been asked and answered a number of times :o)

My hair started growing back when I still had 2 rounds to go on taxol and it has been growing slowly through rads, which I finished 3 weeks ago.  It is approx. 1,5 inches right now.  My question is: should I shave this new hair?  Is it neccecery?  I haven´t really had the urge to do so, but it isn´t really looking as a healthy hair, I admit that I look a lot like a crazy scientist.

    Sharon - Congratulations!

    Congratulations Sharon!!!!!

Idun - What I did was get my hair cut so they would all be even.  It just toped off the hairs that continued to grow through chemo.

Not yet Judy.  It took me about 6 weeks to see any difference.  You'll first start seeing a shadow.  Once it starts you notice a difference every week.

Oh Spring, I see you have been blessed (or cursed) with the curls! Looks like your natural color is back? Also, it looks like you are getting it cut in a way that you have a style. I am trying to let mine grow, so the sides are long. But you look good girl, glad you stopped by.

Welcome newbies, congrats Sharon! And a big sweet hello to everyone else. I hope everyone is coping! I have my hair collage pictures on my profile for anyone that wants to look.
