Hi all, just checking in, I hope everyone had a good Christmas!

JanetH77, I would say that very soon after the lashes fell out, I could see the new ones coming through. That was when they first came out, I don't know how it will work this time.

Jane_M, are they still coming out? Did the eyebrows come out again too?

Hugs to all, take care, Judy xxx

    HI Deen,

I have dark hair but I started to notice a   few scattered hairs about 3 weeks after treatment.  Then what I noticed were little bumps on my head, and I would scratch at them and  a little piece of skin would come off, it took me a while to realize that these were little hairs popping up, so of course I massaged my head several times a   day.  By 4 weeks I had  a five oclock shadow on my head, then week to week people could notice that my hair was getting thicker.I think at 6  weeks I took my hat off.  I did not look normal, but I was sick of my hat.  I had my last treatment on July 21st, and my hair is 1 3/4 long now.  I have dyed it several times because it came in really gray, and it is really curly.

Hope this helps!  I know how you are feeling.

    Hi Suepen,

I had brown hair and it fell out about 2 weeks after my first AC treatment in June.  It continued to fall out for the next 3-4 weeks (as did the pubic hair and underarm hair) and I was left with a white fuzz on my head.  The white fuzz never fell out and began to grow a couple of weeks before my last treatmet of taxol on September 23rd. The white fuzz (or gray as I've been told numerous times by well meaning people) is the longest now and actually lays nicely on my head.  Underneath there are shorter stubly brown hairs that are starting to show more.  In other words, I have gray hair with brown roots!  We're all different and we can all respond to treatment differently and uniquely, although it's nice to hear others' experiences so we can compare and learn from each other.  I hope sharing my experience helped a little.  Good luck on your remaining treatment, I'll be thinking of you.

Well damn Suzette that is awesome!  I finished Taxol November 9 and have had no hair growth on my head, which is such a bummer.  And then about 3 - 4 weeks after I finished Taxol my eyelashes and eyebrows fell out. Eyelashes making a comeback now and where the eyebrows were I have a sort of 5 o'clock shadow and can feel but not really see the hairs.  I have introduced myself, for the first time in my life, to the eyebrow pencil.  Now I look like my grandma lol

Waiting for hair on my head!

    Hi Lilah,

My eyebrows and eyelashes fell out after my last taxol treatment too!  I drew my eyebrows on (for the first time in my life too) for several weeks and about 6 weeks ago didn't need to draw them on anymore and about three - four weeks ago could actually use mascara.  I'm not holding my breath for them to stay though after reading some previous posts - I won't be disappointed if they fall out again and will be pleasantly surprised if I don't lose them a second time.

    Warm regards, Suzette

My hair started growing back dark while on Taxol and now I have white mixed in.  And..... what about those "well meaning" people.  Do they think it's cute to remind me that I now have gray/white hair?  My eyebrows and lashes I think are trying to grow back, in the 15X mirror I can see small white hairs...................

Question............The hair on my head is pretty long, in comparison to being bald and the buzz cut, but the top is spotty.  I'm tempted to go w/o head covering because it's more comfortable and the longer hair sticks out from the sides of the scarves and bandana's.  But...............the top looks weird - to me.  At what point did you go without a headcover?

    Hi Jenn3,

I must admit I do want to punch the "well meaning" people sometimes - like we can't see the gray hair every time we look in the mirror!  Anyway, it was about 8 weeks after my last chemo treatment that I went without a head cover in public.  The top still looks weird to me but it is starting to fill in now.  I still look "sick" cause my hair is so short but it feels so much better without a head cover.  I'll try to get my daughter to take a picture in the next couple of days and post it.

Hi Jenn3..I finished chemo Feb 17 and stopped wearing head covers roughly the beginning of April.  The only reason I kept wearing them was Feb and Mar in the Toronto Ontario area is cold.  When I was at the office I took them off..but that's just me.  My bald head for some reason didn't really bother me that much...now the fact that my eyebrows are barely there 10 months post chemo is a total bummer.  :-)

ok ... so yesterday (I'm embarrassed to admit) I turned on The Shopping Channel and they were advertising a product called Triaxon which is supposed to encourage hair thickening and hair growth. They say that it works 96% of the time for women and they offer a money back guarantee if the product doesn't work within 6 months. They were claiming that it really helps women following chemo and who are taking hormone treatments. I have to admit I ordered it ($63.50 Cdn). Has anyone else heard of it? Does it work?

hrf - No, haven't heard of the product, but you can let us know if it helps.  And....... if it doesn't return it. If it does - you could be advertisement for the company!

purple - I may try to go without a head covering and see how I feel - on a warmer day of course.  The eyebrow thing really bothers me too................

Hi everybody....Have to admit to a bad hair weekend.  When getting dressed to go to DIL baby shower, it occured to me I no longer had enough eyelashes to put on mascara.  Especially on the right eye.  I have been squeezing off most of the mascara that was on the wand anyway but even that didn't help anymore.  And my right eyebrow is much thinner compared to my left.  Yikes what else do we need to deal with?  On the positive side........the hair on my head is slowly coming in.  I do believe that it is gray/white but it is so fine it is hard to tell.  My natural color is blonde so who knows.  And really, I don't care what color it is.  I am just glad to see it coming back.

hrf......please let us know if the stuff for hair growth works.  I would buy it!

My eyelashes are pretty good right now...it's been about 2 months since they last came out.  The brows only came out twice and I have to get them waxed regularly.  The hair on my legs grows like a fiend!!! I wish the hair on my head did.

Hi all, hope you are all doing ok today.

jenn3 - I took off my head covering 4 months pfc. I had hair all over my head, very short, but it was time.

purpleme - are your brows hardly there because they keep on falling out or because they came back thin after treatment?

Helen - good to hear from you! Let us know how this product works out for you!

Jane_M - I am having such a hard time with my lashes coming out again! I was feeling so much better about how I looked and now this! They are coming out really slowly, it is tortorious. I am dreading the eyebrows doing this again too! I have probably asked you this before, but did your eyebrows also come out more than once?

Hugs to all for a good evening,

    Judy xxxxx

purpleme....your eyebrows are absent 10 months PFC?  My gosh...

This whole hair loss deal is really so awful.  So strange, this morning when I woke up, my eyebrows (what's left of 'em!) were "aching" a little...felt a little like they were standing up on edge (reminded me of how my scalp felt before my hair actually fell out).  I am 3 weeks PFC and I am guessing that the remainder of my brows will be leaving very soon...I have about 30% of my eyelashes...babying those guys!

Yes, I have lots of white hairs scattered throughout the top (that's the only place there are white hairs?)...lots of fine baby hairs mixed in, too.  The hair on my head is definitely sprouting...just looks so fine and delicate.  Can still see some of my scalp near the temples and back side...maybe in a month or so...

SANSIA! good to hear you are done with treatment! I remember when you were starting Time is flying! Wow, you have growth after 3 weeks, that is GREAT! i didnt see any for 6. and now i have a full 1nch of hair 20 weeks pfc.

JEN- I took my hat off officially on thanksgiving day. that was 15 weeks after chemo. my pic that is up is from 12/11. It is really growing now. i think taking off the hat helped for some reason. but I have heard that men who wear hats a lot tend to have hair growth issues. so i guess the fresh air helps? who knows, but i dont catch anyone looking at me like they did when i was in a scarf or hat. That is a nice feeling to just blend in with the crowd again! :)

Like JUDY it looks like my lashes are coming out again, they fell out a few weeks post treatment and grew back right away. But in the last two days i have notices a few lashes come out :( so I guess it is my turn again! thank god for eyelier! i wore it and nobody could even tell i didnt have lashes!

My brows are back to normal now and at full length. Not sure if they will come out again too. they were really fast to grow back, i think i was only without brows for a few weeks.

Hi, everyone.  I am 8 months PFC and have lost my eyelashes twice, well . . . let's call it now three times - the bottom row on both eyes is very thin again, with some long lashes and the rest all stubblies again.  The top lashes on both eyes are thin but hanging on.  Brows are very thin again too.  I guess it happens over and over again until the hairs start staggering themselves better.

On the hair front, it is getting longer, I'm happy to report.  It's kind of a weird cupie doll look now, the top back portion wants to only stand straight up when I flatiron it - and eventually it goes back down.  Hair is starting to grow over my ears.  Not much length in the back, but it is getting a little longer.  Still very curly at the bottom.  Last night I was goofing around and took a couple of pony tail holders and made three little pigtails, one on either side of my head and one on top, kind of like Gene Simmons from Kiss.  We had a good laugh over it.  I can flatiron most of it to get the kinks out of it, and then use all kinds of product to make it piecey.

Sanaisa, yes, it does get better.  When I was able to color or attempt to color the hairs coming in on my head, at about 6 weeks, it made me feel so much better, because I could see more of them since they came in clear or gray.  The brows . . . yes, the brows are hard, because they really define your face.  I use a brow powder/wax combo that comes with an angled brush, to help fill in - my brows filled in once really well and have gotten thin again, so I use pencil and the powder.  When your brows start to come back, get a brow gel, Anastasia makes a great one, that is like mascara for your brows.  You can put it on the clear brow hairs and see what you have.  I also used it on some of the spots on my head that were stubborn to color.

Trish, Judy, Chelev (and everyone, sorry I don't want to leave anyone out!), you all look so beautiful with your short hair!  Trish, Judy mine is now about the length in your pics, and I still am so self-conscious about taking the hat off completely.  Even WITH the hat I feel so self-conscious, I feel like I get stares all the time and I hate it!!   When I see your pics, I think, why does the short hair thing always look so good on everyone but the person in the mirror? I second Bold's toast! Here's to a great year!!!

Diane, I was also very conscious about taking my hat off, but once I did it  - it felt wonderful! It was like another step towards rejoining the human race, just feeling like others and not feeling sick (if you know what I mean). I know it is hard, and you can really only do it when you are ready, but I have no doubt that the new you will be just beautiful!

Diane,  It was hard taking my hat off the first time in public.  I mentioned in an earlier post that my DD and DIL were with me in the middle of the mall the day after Thanksgiving when they encouraged me to take my hat off and I was self conscious the remainder of the day.  However, I feel so free now without the hat and feel more control over my life and body than I've felt in months.  Good luck.

11 1/2 mos PFC and I can finally use a small-barrel curling iron on my hair (it came back straight).  It is so straight, I am actually considering getting a perm...how crazy it that.  Now that I can curl it, it's been looking a little better. I am hoping to get a new pic this weekend, so I'll try to post a 1 year PFC photo soon.

JudiNaomi - my brows (I don't think anyway) don't keep falling out they just have not really grown back in.  A few dark eyebrow hairs and lots of empty spots.

I might try the Anastasia brow gel, maybe my brows are there but the hairs have no colour.

I'm like PurpleMe ... even though they did fall out twice, now they have not grown back and I have a few hairs with lots of empty spots. I also don't  have any arm hair and I still have only fuzz on my head. However, I'm trying some new products and will let you know if they help.

I was talking to a friend the other day and told her how upset I was that my hair isn't growing back. Her response was basically "there's nothing you can do about it so get over it" .... people just don't understand. Others have told me "just get a new wig" .........why  don't people get it?

Hrf....I have come to the conclusion that until they go through it themselves, people just don't and won't understand.

I am 25 weeks PFC and my hair is coming in exactly as it was before...same color, texture and thickness. I have colored it about 3 times since and I highlighted it yesterday. I want my bangs to grow faster! The way I have been styling it looks pretty good, exept for the bangs. I saved my hair (I know, I'm weird) when it fell out and when I shaved it and I am going to 'make' some long bangs out of my hair and attach them to a headband...if it works, I will post a pic.

    Happy New Year!

Christy - I totally am with you on the bangs!  Why is it that this area grows out the slowest?  Prior to chemo I would have to trim my bangs every 3 weeks or so, they grew out so much faster than any of my other hair on my scalp!  I would feel more normal if I had some decent bangs.

I am 7 months PFC now - I go out without a wig or a cap most of the time unless I am having a bad hair day.  That would be when the hair on the top crown of my head decides it is going to stick straight up and I can't get it to lay down unless I wash it.
