Thanks for sharing photos MamaV!
Here are two photos documenting my hair growth so far.... the 1st was taken at 6 weeks and the 2nd photo was taken yesterday, at 10 weeks.
Not bad for 2.5 months. I'm just so happy to be able to go without a hat!
At least it suits the hot summer weather.

Mamav, thanks for posting pics. Looks great, like a real style. How many times have you had it trimmed?

Thanks both of you for posting pics! You guys are beautiful! It really does help us baldies to see some hair! I took my first PFC picture yesterday and will continue to document my growth.

mamav, you have beautiful facial features and look great with short hair. I especially like the photo at 9 months with your son, love how he has his arm around you. Oh, the pony tail! Love that!
shera, you, too, have beautiful bone structure, as well as an incredible amount of hair for 10 weeks pfc. I was reading your profile about how the mammo didn't detect the bc.....wow.

And my shirt is from the Relay For Life. It says I Am Hope!!!!
Shera - you look awesome and are so brave! I didnt take a picture or go topless until I was 5 months PFC!0 -
Mama V and Shera you both look amazing. Mama V I have a son like yours, . They tower over us and he is only 15.
You both look beautiful.0 -
Shera
Man does your hair grow fast! You look great!
Mamav
When my hair gets to your length (someday) I'm going to invest in a couple of fake ponytails/buns.
I dyed my hair yesterday with a semi permanent. Its supposed to last for 28 washes. AEM thanks for the tip on the applicator. I picked one up and it worked well. The colour turned out a bit more red that I would like but with the gray being covered it makes it seem like I have a bit more coverage which is all I really wanted anyway. My avatar has been updated showing the new "do".

MLB your hair is coming in nicely - though I'm sure you don't think so ! I can't wait to have scalp coverage!

MamaV and Shera: Love your hair. I am 17 days PFC and my hair is coming in nicely, except for the feather-like hair that is on the top of my head. It's kind of coming in white.

I just did taxol number 7 after four ACs . Some white fuzz started after taxol #2 and continued to grow. I was so excited! But,then a few days ago felt a funny scalp feeling and the little white hairs are falling out. I really liked the fuzz, and hats and wig felt more comfortable not sitting on top of a totally bald head
I knew my hair would fall out and that is hard enough, I think a the new hard realization for me is how long it takes to grow back in. Knowing myself it will be hard to go topless until I have some length. DH has been totally supportive and thinks my head shape is nice etc. I think it is the lack of privacy and the focus on me being "sick" that I get obsessed with.
I mostly wear a baseball hat with hair attached that is my same color and length which looks natural. The wig does not, so I rarely wear it, looks funny at times to be in a restaurant etc with a baseball hat.
I wake up obsessed with thinking about my BC also, but, find I don't want to talk about it anymore. Plan to walk with a friend soon and not tell her I have BC just to keep the topic away.0 -
I am thinking those that had the four treatments experience faster regrowth. Anybody else conclude that? I finished my six treatments 3/21 and those that had four treatments and finished after me have more hair. I think I am an average "hair grower" but appear to be lagging behind others.
I hate lagging behind.0 -
Thanks for all the kind words!
I think being outside a lot has helped my hair growth. A lot of people say their hair grows faster in the summer (and nails)... which has always been true for me.... so when I was bald, I went outside and sat in the sun with nothing on my head for 15 minutes or so whenever I had a chance. Also taking a multi-vitamin with iron, biotin, and E. And taking hot yoga classes. I suspect the sun is the best medicine.... but who knows.
MamaV -- I don't know if I'm brave... or if the 90 degree weather coupled with chemo/Tamoxifen induced hot flashes has made wearing hats - torture! BUT I wore a hat most of the time I was in public until about 2 weeks ago.
Do anyone else's nails look striped? I have an indent in each nail for each infusion = which looks like 4 stripes on each nail. With nailpolish -- the stripes are emphasized. I've had people tell me how cool they look. Ha. I'm just trying to hide the blackened areas.

shera: No stripes for me yet.
JPmomof3: I think your latest pic shows your hair is growing in pretty quickly as well.

Shera, I have a couple black spots and most of my nails have started to lift which makes them look very yellow. I have been wearing nail polish mostly so I don't have to look at them and to remind me to be careful with my nails! Hoping the new growth will grow out normal!

Shera, I have white stripes across my nails. Right now there are two. I imagine one more will show up soon as I've had three infusions. One nail is splitting where the highest stripe is. So I think I will have to start wearing polish.
I'm curious about anyone else's experience with nails this way. What happens when the stripes grow out?0 -
I am now in the process of losing my nails but it has been OK. I got the dark spots and then the stripes just like you described. I finished chemo in April and a few weeks ago the dark part of my thumbnail finally came off. Just yesterday my right one did the same thing. It didn't hurt and there was enough healty nail underneath that it is OK. It doesn't look too bad. I'm thinking that my left hand pointer finger might do the same but I'm not sure. I have been so careful with them and try not to use them to open things. I was opening the flip top on the salt and the nail just gave. After so many months of worrying about my nails it was almost a relief.

Shera, yes, I got the stripes, especially on my big toes. My last taxotere was in December. The fingernails recovered long ago already, but one of the big toes still has a ways to go.

I also got thes tripes.. one for each treatment ... I diduse frozen gloves, so did not loose fingernails.. Did however loose 4 toenails.. I finished chemo last october, fingernailsare good, no stripes left, toenail still have a ways to go.. both big toes are still pretty ugly and the next one over is still cracking ..

Ozza did you use frozen socks, here they put big black mitts and socks on us when we get the Tamaxifen?
Just thought I would let you know, that we visit Chilliwack usually at least twice a year, my Hubby is a fisherman, so enjoy your area very much.
Hope you have a great day.

Ellendou No frozen socks.. wish i had.. Where does your Hubby fish? mine is a fisherman as well.. any chance he gets.. Let me know next time you are here and we can meet for coffee
Only one week until we have 7 of my family members coming for three weeks.. so looking forward to seing them again.. 4 were here last year ( I was going thru chemo and felt like crap (in hospital 5 days when they were here) 3 have never been here.. should be loads of fun

Ossa - he usually fishes March Steelhead and Fall salmon on the Chilliwack.
Sure hope you are feeling well for your company when they arrive. We were suppose to be having company from Denmark this year, but they changed their mind....we hosted a foreign exchange student a few years back and have kept in touch with the family, so they have come over to see us twice already.....they love Canada.
Enjoy but take care of yourself. Hugs.

My finger nails have the yellowing and lifting toward the tips too. My toes have a little striping, on a few of the small toes... the large toes show none. Weird. Though my heels peeled like crazy after infusions... I needed to use medicated cream on them because it got so it was painful to walk! Maybe the poison went out my heels before getting to my toes. ??? lol
I knew about icing nails and cold caps... but with all the other decisions I had to make, I just couldn't handle more so it was a huge relief when I decided to let my hair and nails take care of themselves. It hasn't been so bad... compared to the rest of this hell-ride.
Tina... sounds like my nails are following a similar path as yours... and my last chemo was May 2nd. So right behind ya! Thanks for sharing.

My last chemo tx was 3/1 and my toes are a mess! First yellow then black spots. Left big toe nail came off about 3 weeks ago and I had my mani/pedi gal put a fake one on. Right big toe should be falling off any day and i will do the same. The thought of not being able to wear flip flops in the summer was bumming me out! The other toes are all going too. But because they are small you can't really notice. I've had fake finger nails for years so I've never had a problem with my hands.

I am kinda freaking out. I am 3 weeks PFC and my hair has been growing for about the last 7-8 weeks even while still on taxol. I noticed this past week that my armpit hair wasn't growing much and today I noticed that it is completely gone. So far no shedding from other places but I am really concerned that it may affect other areas. Has anyone had this happen? I will be more than depressed if my head hair falls out again.

Ossa - hubby has never fished there. Not sure if we will be able to make it down this Fall, all depends on my treatments, but will keep in touch, would love to meet you.
