Yell  I am really discouraged right now.  I have completed 4 rounds of dose dense A/C and 2 rounds of Taxol (2 more rounds to go) and still have my eyelashes and eyebrows and have seen some hair growth on my scalp, underarms, legs and the southern region and NOW I am reading that I may still lose my eyebrows and eyelashes!  This is so not right!  I had figured since I kept these so far that I might be one of the fortunate ones that would not lose my eyelashes and eyebrows. Same thing happened to me.  Losing brows/lashes was the worst.  I thought I was safe, but the taxol did them in.  Best of luck.  May yours stay put!!!

Jancie, you may get lucky.  I did 4 rounds of dd A/C and never completely lost my brows or lashes.  I have very thick hair so that may have had something to do with it (I think I have more hair follicles than the average person!).  My brows thinned a lot but didn't go completely, I just filled in the emtpy spots with pencil, and my lashes had some gaps but it wasn't that noticeable.  Good luck to you!

LorenaB - so there is some hope for me?  I too had a ton of hair, very fine in texture but extremely thick.  I never plucked my eyebrows, I have noticed they have thinned as though I have plucked them.  Wonder if never plucking your eyebrows has something to do with it?  I am putting a lot of moisterizing cream on my face at night and including my eyebrows to moisterize the skin underneath them.

Hi ladies.  I also did 4x A/C and 4x Taxol.  Did not lose my lashes until it was all over but they are growing back quickly.  I am going "topless" at work now (8 wks out from last Taxol) and this morning someone mentioned Robin Roberts from Good Morning America to me.  I was curious and did some searching and found this.  It's probably been posted here before but thought it was worth posting again!  It almost brought me to tears because everything she says mirrors exactly how I've been feeling.  It really empowered me this morning!

Hey, I was told that TRESemm'e shampoo is suppose to simulate hair growth.  It is in a black bottle and it has vitamin C & E and Betaine.  I just went out and bought both the shampoo and conditioner....its a good price, about $5.00 for a big bottle.  I have just a very little stubble, but will try anything for a little hair.......sooooo sick of this wig thing.  Well, just wanted to through that out there, good luck!

Jane, I would be so tickled to have that much hair at week 14.  I am almost at week 13 and I am a long way from you.

I noticed this morning that almost all my eyebrows over only my left eye must have fallen out last night. I almost freaked out this morning. Finished TCH 3-13. The other eyebrow looks the same, as do the lashes. The hair on my head is about 1/2 inch and very dark. I love it!!!

I am seeing sprouts in the bald spots I have.  Still losing a little here and there from the hair that remained, I'm thinking it's the reaction from my last chemo 4/23.  Still fighting the breakouts on my head with the fungal cream, it's getting there.  Wish I had more hair growing in, but I'm impatient that way, and it's only 4 weeks from last treatment this week.

PrincessKauai59 - if you start using the Rogaine, let us know if you see any difference!!

The other day I noticed hair on my arms.   It was too funny because I never gave that much thought.  It is 6 months since I finished DD A/C, followed by 12 Taxol and Herceptin.   My eyebrows are back and better than ever.  The other week I had my first haircut (trim) in 10 months.   She  cut off the colorless ends and trimmed around the ears and neck.

The Robin Roberts video was awesome!!  Just what I needed.  I plan to ditch the wig when my hair is that long.  Hopefully that will be soon.  (I am a week and a half out from my last taxol)

I just watched the video as well, and it brought tears to my eyes.  When mine is about that long, I too will go "naturale".  I am in a public position with my company, so even though I know my hair does not define me, it makes others more comfortable and me less self-conscious about working with customers, co-workers and the media.  Plus, I don't want the pity looks when people see the shaved partially bald head.  I don't want the "poor her".  I know I am strong and brave and am going to win this battle.  Now, darn hair, start growing faster!!

Chelev, I felt exactly the same way that you do.  One thing that Robin Roberts said that really struck a chord with me was "It's the fear that keeps us from doing a lot of things".  That's what it was for me.  I plan to watch that video every time I start to doubt myself.

I am so thrilled.  I tried something over the weekend and it worked.  I have a lot more silver on my head now than prechemo.  I have a lot of dark too but there are patches on the top of my head that are lighter and it's looks bald to me.  So I took some grayish colored eye shadow and gently rubbed it on those spots and it works! There are white hairs there so the shadow subtly colors them to make it all blend in better and the white patches don't look so bald.

    Spring, you look adorable!

Lainey, I just watched the Robin Roberts video. It was great. Thank you for sharing it. I am sooo sick of my wig. Last week I wore a bandana to my son's lacrosse game. Everyone has seen my wig and they seem comfortable with it. I do not think I am being paranoid but I believe people avoided me when I had just the bandana on. I have never worn it to a school event, just around the house. After watching the video, I do believe that the wig is to make other people feel comfortable. It does not scream "I am in treatment for breast cancer!" I have set an end date for the wig, June 10th. My hair is very blonde and is still sparse in places and very very short so I do look kind of bald but I am going to wear it proudly!

Spring - your photo is very encouraging!!!  I hope I have as much (I used to have a LOT of hair) at 6 months out - it looks so cute!!

Lainey - that is a great idea - fill in the lighter spots.  I might try that if I get bold enough.

Busymomof5 - I know what you mean!!  I usually wear a wig or my ponytail hat out, but yesterday to the grocery store I wore a bandana and people I usually talk to every week kind of looked at me and looked away.  That's exactly the pity look I try to avoid.  Otherwise, I don't care that my hair is gone - it shows I'm battling a terrible disease, but apparently others can't or don't know how to deal with it.

Busymom - Good for you.  I think it's so personal and we can only do things when we're really ready for it.  There are still moments when I wonder "what the heck am I doing??"  But that is just the fear talking and I ignore it.  I just took this picture here at work.  Used my cell phone to do it so it's not the best, but here is my growth at just a little over 8 weeks.  The amount of silver on my head is astounding.  I never had this much before!  But hair is hair and I love it! Maybe I will get my BF to take some better ones tonight.

Hey Ladies!  I just heard something new...and wanted to share it with you.  I have a friend that is an estitician (do not know how to spell that..sorry) , she was told that putting aloe vera (from the plant) directly on your scalp....letting it stay on for awhile, then washing it off...helps hair growth.  I looked it up on the web and this is what I found....I am definately going to give this a try.  I am on Herceptin for a year and from what I have read my re-growth will be very slow.

    Here is the website: http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4620422_aloe-vera-promote-hair-growth.html

    Lainey,

I'm at 9 weeks out, and my hair looks exactly like yours. Same length and the darkness with a lot of silver mixed in. We could be twins.

At least I know the growth rate is normal now.

A bit of good news.  Starting this last weekend, I have what looks like eyeliner on, but it's actually just my eye lashes starting to grow in!  My brows are filling in very nicely too. I'm hoping the hair on my head will start filling in two.  Still not ready to use the Rogaine, but still v. thin on top and sides and top back area.

I'm hoping the hair on my head will follow the lashes and brows still.

    Hi all,

I met with my intergration oncologist today to work on what supplements I should be taking....and asked briefly about hair growth.

She suggested that I take biotin (one of the bottles that says for hair/nail growth).  Biotin is just a B vitamin and is safe.

She recommended that I NOT use Nioxin.  She said that I should pick up a rosemary shampoo, massage it in and let is sit for an hour or so (in a plastic cap).  Worth a shot.  I'm going to check whole foods tomorrow.
