Lori, I love your hair! I was looking at all of your hair pics and mine seems to be on the same timetable that yours was on. This Thursday will be 8 wks out from chemo for me and my hair is just starting to fill in. So far it's straight with lots of salt and pepper and I have started going out capless on the weekends. I told everyone that just as soon as I started getting some hair that I was ditching the wig and that's what I'm doing. I'll wear a ballcap still if I'm feeling self conscience.
Susan, girl, you look good. I'm certain it looks thicker!

Hi, ladies. Just wondering if anyone had like pimples or something on their heads when their hair started growing back? My last chemo was April 23 and it appears I'm not losing anymore and I think I feel fuzz on the balder spots. Is it like little ingrown hairs?

Susan - what are you using on your hair? I'm 14 weeks out from my last chemo and mine isn't that long.

Susan, YES it looks like more hair and you look wonderful. Mine, when it was straight at first, did lay down. My hair before was not straight, it was wavy. I loved my hair. Some of the hair underneath was curly and I had ringlets. I think the length straightened it out. But I never had to do anything with it, blow dry it, style the bangs a little with a round brush and that was it. I am hoping as it grows out, it will get weighed down! Maybe people with naturally curly hair, get it back 10 times curlier!
Love and prayers to all
Lori

I finished my chemo (AC /taxol) three weeks ago and I am getting fuzz - It covers some of my head but skimpy in some areas - still better than bald. I still wear my wig everywhere. Makes me feel normal. I never liked the hats - I am also getting some hair back on my legs, but not private area.
Good luck.

yes, I had some bumpy areas, like pimples - I applied hand cream and they disappeared -

Princess,
How long after you lost your brows and lashes did they come back? I am so pissed!!!! My brows are almost gone and the bottom lashes are almost gone. Why couldn't this happen doing treatment? I am having a hard time with the lost of the brows and lashes! I feel that I look more like a cancer patient now!!!!!! Linda

Hi Linda, I'm around six weeks out and my lashes are gone still, but the eyebrows are definitely starting to come in - - it is just the very initial stages of growth, like a man's 5 o'clock shadow. I agree about the chemo patient look once you lose eye lashes and brows. I kept mine all the way through three months of AC treatments (but lost all hair on head at 3 weeks after first AC), but then lost my lashes and brows too during the Taxol...
Susan, Your hair is most definitely thicker!

Lori, my hair looks a lot like yours, except that I have more of it! I have to keep it controlled with clips and combs and bobby pins, otherwise it defies gravity. It was always very thick so I'm not surprised it came back like this (I think I have about three times as many hair follicles as the average person! I had prickles on my head all through chemo). It used to be similar to yours, kind of wavy-ish/curly-ish, but never these tight curls everywhere. I use a combination of creme and gel to get rid of the frizzies and weigh it down. I bought the DevaCurl products but I find they are too lightweight for my volume of hair, so I stick to regular products I can buy anywhere (mostly Aussie and Pantene).
I'm also hoping that as it gets longer, the curls will loosen a bit. And I wonder if it will stay this curly forever. Really I don't mind -- I've always liked curly hair and it feels so fabulous to have HAIR -- I feel like ME!
Susan, it looks like your hair is coming in fast! Happy hair growth everyone! :-)

Same for me. Losing the brows and lashes was worse than going bald. Had my last chemo May 1. I want my hair back now!!!

Has anyone ever tried Latisse for lash regrowth? Nioxin for hair? Extensions? Anything?

The results photos for Latisse are remarkable. I'm thinking of asking my doctor for an Rx, but it's cosmetic so not covered by my health plan. Think it costs $100 to $125, therabouts; I'm just not sure I want the hassle of application. Happy Tuesday!

Nodapearl.... I agree.... losing the brows and lashes was the worst! I did learn to draw on relatively good looking brows, and dark eyeliner made the lack of lashes less obvious....but still. I was so glad when I could see new baby lashes growing back. They did grow in rather quickly. My brows took a little longer to come back, but now I don't need to pencil them in anymore. It was very gradual and then one day....BAMM.. brows looked great again. I, personally, didn't use any hair regrowth products.

Thanks ladies!
Jane-I'm not using anything on it, but I did order some Biotin shampoo and I think it's coming in by tomorrow and I'm going to start using that. I was not totally bald during my last 4 treatments, I think that is helping, but it was just very thin with about 3 bald spots. I'm so anxious to go topless once the summer comes. SO TIRED OF WIGS!
On the eyebrows and eyelashes ... they grow back very quickly!!! Within 3 weeks after mine fell out I was plucking my eyebrows cause they were bushy!

Hello, I am new here.... but not to the journey! I finished my last round of TCH last Monday and have noticed a dark shadow of fuzz coming in on my head. I had colored my hair for years prior and had no idea what color to expect! Someone recommended Nioxin System 1 with the Follicle Booster and Recharging Complex Vitamin. Has anyone used this and if so, did it help? I figure it is worth a shot! My eyebrows have thinned out about 50% and I have a few eyelashes.... been wearing falsies the last month. Works pretty well. I would like to try Latisse.

Hi. I started using Nioxin immediately after my last chemo tx. I wasn't messing around! My brows and lashes finally completely fell out after my last Taxol. My brows were almost completely bare for only a few days and then they started growing like wildfire! I had to start tweezing the middle just to prevent a unibrow from developing. My lashes are growing back too. They are so tiny and short but I can see them with my magnifying mirrior.

What do you think of the nioxin? Did it help?

I got Latisse from my Plastic Surgeon's office, and have been using it since right after my first chemo treatment. I guess I won't know for sure if it works until I'm done with treatment, which will be another six weeks. It is really simple to use, just like applying eyeliner, just takes a coupld of seconds each night. ( I even use what's left on the brush to go over my eyebrows.......hope I don't end up with a unabrow or something!)

chelev - Hey! Another St. Lucie gal! I recvd. my last tx on Feb 9th. My hair growth has been really slow. 12 weeks out and I still have some bare spots.
I have used Nioxin all thru chemo and after. Don't think it has helped all that much.

Only six days out and I am looking!0

Linda, I remember asking about brows and lashes and how quick is quick? I found that I could see them starting to grow back in within a week of them all being out. However, they grow in as fast as my hair, which for me is very slow. Thicker then my hair, but rate of growth is the same. So, over a month out of them all being out, and 3 months out from chemo and they are not back in. You don't notice the brows as much, because a shadow of color from the little nubs growing in actually is very noticeable until you get close and realize how short they are. The eyelashes wouldn't hold a speck of mascara if I tried, but again, once the nubs are in it shows up as a line of color so you don't looke so "shiny naked skin" (what it looked like to me) which is why I think people think of them as growing in fast.

I think Nioxin helped me. And Biotin. But who really knows. The onc said she thought I had a lot more hair than others at that point. I used one bottle of the "hair folicle stimulator" then stopped. Once I had good coverage, I figured I didn't need more chemicals on my head!
Spring.

So... one week out from last chemo and I can start using nioxin now?
0 -
That's exactly where I am. One week out. I got the nioxin yesterday. I haven't tried it yet though. Seems like I am still losing brows from taxol. I am wondering if I need to see some growth before I start?
