Bosum - amazing hair growth. Did you have curls before? Mine first came in really kinky curly but now is back to just some waves. Hair is thick but baby fine. It also came in darker & the grey is mostly gone. I don't expect to know what the non-damaged hair will look like until maybe Christmas. I understand it takes a year for un-damaged roots to appear, so they will start in October.

Minus: is that a year from starting treatment? Bosom, you are a model, thanks for giving all us some much needed encouragement!

Toby - I was told new undamaged roots start one year past final chemo. Since I had to go back for a 2nd chemo after surgery because I didn't have pCR, and then had Herceptin for the rest of a year, I'm counting that one year date post Herceptin. Maybe that's to cautious & a little negative, but I don't want any bad surprises.

Actually, mine did start to grow back while on Taxol. They told me it would but i didnt believe them. Itstarted as white peachfuzz and then it turned all gray. I'm 10 1/2 months PFC and its all dark. Darker than when i started chemo. I just wish these crazy curls would relax........crazy, kinky curls........but, it's hair!

I think my hair is starting to fall out. I kept finding grey hairs on my shirt today. I'm not wearing my hair net to bed tonight, but I expect I'll be needing to soon. I just had my 3rd treatment Monday. Next week is my off week. Mom and I are going on a cruise. I just have a feeling that's where I'll be needing to cut it way back and start wearing my scarves. It will make it an extra memorable vacation. lol

Although I never really lost my hair all the way (I had peach fuzz), it grew back very slowly. It wasn't until I finished Herceptin that it really started growing faster. I always had wavy/curly hair and it's come back the same way. Being short makes the curl more pronounced.

Dunelseeper, I love the picture of you (assuming it's you), and your cockatiel. I had one when I was a kid and into adulthood - he was a sweetheart. He was also a character and I still miss that darn bird all these years later. He had quite the vocabulary. He lived to be almost 17 years old.

SlowDeepBreaths, cockatiels are amazing. My little guy is just over a year old now. He's just so sweet. It just melts your heart. I hope he has a long, happy life.

Chloesmom, it actually is a little painful coming out. Very irritating.

Lorbgoo, you look great. That is an inspiring picture.

Mysunshine, I freak out too. It's not knowing when that bothers me most. Even now, while it is falling out, should I do anything about it? It could use a cut. It looks lifeless and without waves. Actually, I guess I answered my own question right there. If I have time tomorrow, I will have to get it cut. Otherwise I'm going to be buzzing it. Oh man!

Dune sleeper - yes, I hate this part. I guess once it is done, it will be better. I wish we all lived near each other and could do this together,

I had very long hair. I got it cut short before starting chemo and donated it to locks of love. Mine came out very quickly in the shower in huge clumps. Once that started, I had my husband buzz the rest.

I am 10 months pfc. It feels like it has taken forever to get to this point but have been told by everyone that my hair is growing fast. It came back very curly it was wavy before. I have to blow dry straight and then flat iron.

Thank you all. AnotherNYCGirl; yes I've colored my hair. My hair dresser colored for me. My hair dresser first colored it in March (that was also my first and only haircut), then I used Loreal Feria in between, and just went back to hair dresser last week for highlights. She said the box didn't seem to do any damage to my hair.

Thanks for info Nancy! I hope that my hair will do as well as yours! Smile

Toby, dunes, mysunshine, - I was cold without hair, - even in summer! I wore bandanas a lot, - I never got the hang of tieing scarves the right way! Around the house I wore knitted caps from a friends Mom. The chemo center also had knitted caps to give away.

I have a pretty wig, but didnt wear it that much.

    Do whatever is comfortable!

Got mine buzzed at hairdresser week 1 Then when it really started to fall out my husband shaved it. The stubble continued to come out for a month more. It was sore but coconut oil helped the scalp. Now 6 weeks PFC it's like a baby chick with white fuzz. There is some dark stubble sprouting on top that itches again. Back to the coconut oil!

I got my hair colored a handful of times. I used ones you buy at target and got it professionally done one time.

Does hair often come in patchy? Mine is thick over the ears, but very thin at the flat spot in the back on the top (where guys get bald spots) and moderately thin inthe front . I am 6 weeks PFC.
