Jean, - looks great! esp for just 3 months!!

I am 7 months pfc (today ;), and just had appt with onc. She said ok to color with anything I choose! I was surprised by that! I had been looking for some semi perm, - or even henna. If you have colored within a year pfc, what have you used?

    Thanks!

My eye lashes seem to come and go, my eye brows are back to being what they were before. I had stopped plucking like 3 years before dx. I have my next mo appt May 6th and hope for her to tell me I can color. I've had my first cut and while I'm not a fan of short hair, it at least looks deliberate now.

I am so ready to color my hair, even though everyone SAYS they like it the way it is!

Wait - we cannot color our hair as soon as it starts coming back in?????? PLEASE TELL ME THAT IS NOT TRUE

Princess - some on here have colored their hair 6 weeks PFC, my doc doesn't want me to risk it falling out and so she kept telling me to wait. Last month she said to wait another month!

I've had my hair professionally colored twice now, once at 9 weeks PFC and again at 15 weeks (I'm at 20 weeks PFC now), with a semi-permanent color and had no problems whatsoever. My hairdresser has had a lot of clients who went through chemo and no issues with semi-perm coloring. She won't use any peroxide or anything to lift color, so I will have to stay brown with no highlights for a while, but at least the grays are covered.

ThePrincess my oncologist said I could color my hair when ever I wanted. I did it 13 weeks PFC professionally with the same dye he always uses.

Eyebrows Mine came in fine but once I started Anastrozole they started to think. I use Anastasia brow duo powder to fill in. It's very natural looking. I also paint 3% Minoxidil on them. Seems to slow down falling out and some new ones did grow back.

Eyelashes were thinning on Anastrozole but now that I switched to Exemestane they are much better. Not sure why.

My hair is starting to come in slowly, but its white and gray... awful. I always dyed my hair. Went gray early...like in my late 30's. Eyebrows never completely fell out during chemo, but then was left with a few strands after chemo finished. Now growing back... but my eyelashes which also got sparse after I finished with chemo..seem not to be growing. One eye has less lashes than the other. How long do we need to wait until able to dye?

I was "allowed" to have my hair dyed 12 weeks PFC and because I asked - I had it done at my hairdresser's because she was an experienced "colourist" but I don't think it matters - just that she "knows" hair.

Bosum - it would be the Femera - the few hairs I grew after Taxotere came out promptly after I started Femera.

Bosum, sorry you are dealing with thinning hair again. I do not think that the hair dye would be the reason, it might be the Femara or hormone changes. About 1.5 years PFC my hair started falling. I hated to take a shower because that is when I could see it. I got tested for everything, found nothing, after a few months it stopped. My doctor thought it was hormonal.

At least you can use the Rogaine for now. Too bad Tamoxifen did not work for you, it seems a bit better than the AIs. I am taking Tamoxifen, no problem with hair but my memory is not good. I just want to make it to 5 years.

Bosum - somebody said something similar on another thread. Her children were celebrating rather than worrying when she had serious SEs - the nasty drugs were killing the cancer. Sending good thoughts daily.

So if you lost all your hair to chemo, and are now taking Fermara, will it take longer for your hair to grow back or will it grow just not as thick? If the Fermara is supposed to cause thinning of hair - how does it affect the growth of the hair coming back???

This is 5 months PFC... I just had it colored and trimmed to get rid of the chicken fuzz. It's wavy and hard to control but it is hair! My eyebrows and lashes came back too! Time to get the brows threaded. I was waiting until they'd have something to work with. I'll post another of me about a month or so ago so you can see that it does come in quickly once it starts.

Linzer, you are a MODEL!!! I am calling the salon where I got my wig and scheduling for color. Linzer, how much did they trim to get rid of the chicken?

Mine is curly so it is hard to tell how long, but I know I will feel better mentally when color is back to being close to my hair.

    thanks again for posting Linzer

Awww...Toby you made my day! She just trimmed about 1/8-1/4 inch not much at all. Shaped it around the ears and shaved the back to even it out along neckline. Unfortunately charged the usual cut rate with a reduced color rate (as if it was a touch up rather than full color) but honestly I didn't care since I've not had a haircut since June of last year!! She also recommended using some construction paste (sticky stuff) that helps to lift the hair up and give it some spiky-ness so that it doesn't look like a man's helmet head. I'm getting used to using that :)

Linzer- great picture. That almost looks like a purposeful haircut and at 5 months PFC. I will be almost that in August. So I have a while. As soon as I can though I am getting it colored. Thanks for posting!

Linzer - Your cut looks great!

I've recently been incredibly awkward when people compliment my hair cut and ask my why I decided to go so short. I usually blurt out that I lost it from chemo and that it's just growing back now. While it's fantastic to no longer look like I had cancer I still have all of the overwhelming feelings about it. Strangers seem to get overwhelmed very easily when I throw out the C word casually. For me it really is just my new normal.

Thanks, everyone! I agree Viceroy. I'm just going with it. So far no one has asked. I'm sure it does seem a bit awkward to others to see it so short but at this point, with all we've been through, I say *&&^ it :) I think by the beginning of summer I will actually have something that does resemble a purposeful style. We'll see :)

Thanks ;) I just hope that I can continue to tame it as it grows. It's ready to sproing! I had very wavy/curly hair before so I can only imagine what's going to happen! Stay tuned :)

My hair is full but still short. I've always had long hair - between waist & shoulder length through the years. I've been thinking I might stay like Annie Lenox, although it's a little longer that that now. I asked my grown son if he liked my cut. His answer was, all women cut their hair short when they get older. Hmmm. Not a useful answer. Maybe even a depressing answer. Men!!!

It was Goldwell single process color. The stylist said it would be gentler on newer hair. I'm a few days/washes out and it seems to be fine. I've not seen any breakage or damage. It feels so much nicer having the color!
