mvspaulding - for the red bumps, I was told to put original Head & Shoulders shampoo on my head and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then lather & rinse off. It worked very well, especially w/little or no hair.

MinusTwo, maybe I will try that. I'm on antibiotics and was told to use baby shampoo. It's pretty annoying because they hurt to lay onwhen I sleep.

my Spaulding try cortisone cream on then. I used that and it helped dry the sores up. And use conditioner with baby shampoo. Not wearing hats or scarves when ever possible will help. Let your head breathe and maybe try a satin pillow case at nite to sleep on.

myspaulding, I'm doing it (with no enthusiasm) because growing in with those bald spots looks even more pathetic than BALD. I'm hoping that once I get a few weeks PFC that the hair will start growing in more evenly all over.

for those growing out hair post chemo: I got mine to grow by taking b vitamins during taxol and started on 3000 biotin the day after I ended chemo. My hair started to sprout tiny baby hairs 2 weeks after. At 4 weeks a hairline started, and at 5 weeks it really started to grow quickly. The back and sides come in first and yes you will have a shiny male pattern baldness to put up with but be patient. The hair does come back. It's kinda neat to take pics weekly and look back at how far you've come. Plus I rubbed my fuzz constantly and swore it helped stimulate my scalp. One day a had tingling feelings on my scalp and thought it was my hair growing. Lol.

CarolinaAmy, I grew back at first with male pattern baldness. A big spot right in the center of my forehead was the last to fill in. 9 months later, I just today am able to tuck my hair behind my ears! Once it starts to grow, it comes back fast. I had a boy haircut quickly. Hang in there!

And I agree, for one week you have a lot coming back already

This is 8 weeks PFC although I'm still on herceptin which supposedly slows hair growth. It's filling in very slowly. Be patient ladies. It is most likely going to be at least 12 - 14 weeks before you have decent coverage. I buzzed my hair to 1/4" to get rid of the random long hairs and even the rest out. I will buzz it again soon but I might go to 3/8" this time.

Twiggy and Amy, you're right on track. Seriously. I didn't believe it, either, but I just had to give myself a haircut last night. (Okay, I trimmed the back and sides with a 3-guard on the clippers, but still. It was a haircut!)

I'm exactly 3 months PFC, and I have about 3/4" of hair all over my head. It took longer to fill in in the "male pattern baldness" areas--and I worried, too, but it's BACK. :)

I take 5000 mcg of biotin a day, in case that matters.

Twiggy: The good thing about lashes and brows is that once they finally fall out, they grow in fast. You will see them fall out slowly and think maybe the last few are going to hang on. Then they fall out and the growth starts.

Carolina Amy, I was about the same as you at one week PFC. Going to take my pics today at 2 weeks to see if I notice any difference. I use antibiotics and steroid cream on these bumps. They just take about a week to a week and a half to go away. Hopefully they will be gone for good after this time though. :) I don't wear wigs when I have them because they irritate them, so I have had to wear a hat every day to work. It hurts more to sleep on them without my beanie so I wear it at night, so they don't get much air but it is what it is.

Myspaulding - I buzz my hair just so that it looks even. I had serious male pattern baldness, which is finally getting better.

The male pattern baldness.... I was worried I'd have it forever! It fills in and gets better! Hang in there!

mvspaulding -- oh patience! It is so hard to wait, but you'll see something soon! I think it was about 6 weeks PFC for me, when I was finely sure that it was growing. And then it took off. I think it may have slowed down again from the anastrozole, but maybe it is just thickening up vs growing.

Mysunshine-- hooray for ditching the wig! Post a picture soon! My oncologist told me that I could color my hair as soon as I wanted to. I've decided to stick with the gray. I am in a male dominated field and think I am commanding more respect than I got when I was blond. Can that really be?? Anyway, I like it the way it is and that's all that really matters, right?

    Have a great weekend everyone!

for those waiting for regrowth it really does take off after 6 weeks. At 4 weeks I saw a hairline and it grew fast between weeks 4-5.

Eyebrows? Hi Everyone...this is my first post on this group. Has anyone kept their eyebrows with TC? My hair is gone except for some crazy patches which I've left alone. But, my eyebrows are still full. I've done 2 infusions. Can I expect them to go with the next two

Cathytoo: my eyebrows started to thin after my fourth infusion. I am now almost 10 weeks PFC and I have just a few hairs hanging on the brows and a couple of my upper eyelashes are still hanging in there. However, I did find a few funny hairs starting to grow on my legs

Cathy I used some lash and brow conditioning gel and I'm two weeks out from last chemo and have kept my brows. Some of my lashes are gone but I can still wear mascara.

I thought I was going to be lucky but my brows really thinned about 6 weeks PFC and my upper eyelashes fell out at that time also. 😕

I kept my brows and lashes until a week after my last chemo. Now 7 months PFC and I still do not have any brows. Did anyone else have brows that didn't come back?

hey hair ladies I need some help. I will be 12 weeks pfc this week and am debatingcoloring my hair with a semi permanent color. I asked my mo office and they said ok as long as it's gentle and not permanent. They did say semi is ok. So I asked my hairdresser to set up an appt for next wed. But now I am having second thoughts about dying it. I am worried about turning orange or damaging my hair. My hair dresser wants to use Demi permanent dye that just deposits color. Plus I have had a lot of people comment they actually like my grey salt and pepper. I am 45 and am just now sure about remaining grey til I can use permanent color in 3 months when I am officially 6 months pfc. Here is a pic of my grey image

    Shopgal, your hair looks great!

I'm 10 weeks out and mine is getting thicker every day, with long grays intermingled. I'm hoping to stop scarves in 3 weeks when coming back from spring break. My students have been very curious about what's under the scarves. :

I'm considering getting a hairdresser to shape it up a bit.
