Someone may have said all this earlier, but I didn't have time to read through everyone's post.
That A/C does not flush out of the system quickly. Once mine ended, it was about 9 months until I went wigless. I"ll try to attach a pic of it now and see if that works. I'll show a pic of what my hair does naturally and how it looks after I style it cuz I think it's hilarious! My eyelashes grew back lush, then thinned out, then grew back, etc. It's been almost 1 year since I finished chemo, and they still tend to go through this cycle, although each time they thin, they aren't as thin as the time before. It's frustrating as hell! When my hair grew back in, it grew back in all over my face, neck and down my back! It was white baby hair, but it was LONG! I just kept using a cream to remove it. It's embarrassing! It still does that but someone told me it's from the menopause that Arimidex threw me into. It's ALWAYS something! ;P

Lorie- I am praying for your hair to grow grow grow. I hope it is close. I never thought I would like short hair but it's part of this whole BC journey.

u also give me hope, i'm new to this forum, was diagnosed last year at age 26 and finish chemotherapy last december and now in radiotherapy...hair starting to grow again but very slowly....but I read rosemary and argan oil help stimulate growth so will be using them!0 -
Thanks Patty! I think I'm going to like short hair too! (My wig is much shorter than I ever had it and I've gotten used to it.)
Catlady...super cute!! What do you use to style it? Bummed about the lashes...it's my bottom ones that keep coming and going. The top just came in sooo short, and stayed that way. Your brows and lashes look great!

Catgirl I love your colour, very vibrant and beautiful.
I have some progress.. I got a trim today because my hair was uneven all over. I realized today is exactly 6 months from the day I had my hair shaved off after first chemo. here is a photo of Jan 07, Jan 29 and March 2nd to show the growth. And maybe one of the bald spot that my hairdresser examined and says yes, it does have hair too, it's just a little slower.

catlady, if my hair grew out like yours I would love it! Very pretty. I am 3 weeks out tomorrow and still just soft fuzz, but at least the red bumps are gone and I can wear my wig this week.
So, just how long does the Taxoter/cytoxan regimen stay in your body? Does anyone know? I meet with my MO tomorow to discuss next step and my plastic surgeon wants me to ask when it is safe for me to have reconstruction surgery. She said at least 6 weeks, I am hoping they won't make me wait much longer.

Catlady- Very pretty! Awesome curls! Was it that curly before? Mine has grown in like that also. I use the straight iron on it and lots of gel.
Molliefish- yours is coming in nice too! I had small trims also and I think it really helped with shape and style.

Kate-I like the less cancers comment. It is scary going without a head covering. I felt like everyone was staring at me and knew I had just finished chemo. It does get easier.

I also agree with getting regular trims. If you trim it and even it out it is much easier to manage. It looks more like an actual hairstyle then. I also felt much better once I colored it. I was looking at old pics of me the other day, oh how I miss my long hair. This hairdo is super easy to do though. Once the top gets a bit longer it will feel better. The problem is the longer it gets the curlier it gets. I am hoping that it looks decent by June, as my youngest daughter is graduating from Grade 12.. By then I will be almost 8 months PFC.

Hi there, did anyone try the ice caps or mitts and booties yet? At my chemo class today they told me that they've only had one woman using it in their facility and it's actually working for her so far:) Also they JUST heard about the stomach neulesta injector. Crazy how behind some places are:

mvspaulding...my reconstruction was 4 weeks...exactly after my last chemo. We rushed a little so I could start the school year and have it in the same insurance year...free that way. My hair started about 6 weeks pfc.

Phaila...no did not use cold caps...if I was doing chemo I did not want it "hiding" in the cold areas. I figured the hair would return. I do acknowledge my total paranoia about the cancer returning.

You all look AMAZING!!! I didnt even look at my head until well finished chemo LOL..these pics were 11 weeks PFC, honestly, I have NO patches, it is completely even all over, am going to Wig it for a while yet, I just wouldnt wear it this short, though my Wig is short.

I started wearing hats instead of the wig occasionally at 10 weeks PFC. I dumped the wig for good, 12 weeks PFC. I was able to color my hair and get a bit trimmed. I did wear ball caps most of the time as it was the summer and I didn't want to get a burn on my head. By 20 weeks PFC, I stopped wearing hats and had my hair colored a second time and trimmed, it was super curly. Exactly one year later, I have thick hair with some loose curls. I had short hair before and am keeping it short.

They took my port out at the same time as the implant placement. That took a lot longer to heal then the implant incision. I had 8 weeks of no lifting or moving more than 10 lbs and I did work 4 day weeks for the first 8 weeks of school, I was exhausted. I did have to be kept overnight because of the close date pfc

Has anyone had microblading done on their eyebrows? I've watched a few utubes and seen some advertisements for it. Some look better then the permanent eyebrows. I don't think mine will ever be back to normal, and they were always very light. It has been 1.5 years since taxotere. Still on H&P

Phaila, I was able to save my hair cold capping. There are a few threads on the subject on these boards; one of them has success stories of women who used cold caps.
I did not ice my feet or hands.

So none of your hair fell out?? That's so great:)
Do you think anyone would sell or rent their cold caps to people just going through chemo? I would love to try it but can't afford one:(

I lost about 30% of my hair. There are ways to obtain financial help with cold caps.

Beatman, Never heard of that. I just fill in with eyebrow pencil, which I never had to do before. I add organic eyeliner and some organic mascara to what eyelashes I have. I use Juice Beauty products. Google it. Good, safe stuff.

Wow thx for all the compliments! Mollie fish don't you love how our hair grows in like male pattern baldness? Lol!
My eyebrows are totally drawn in. I have a little bit of regular brow and tons of white hairs that grow straight out of my face! I was having a good eyelash day in that pic. I put a ridiculous amount of crap in my hair - heat protecting oil, frizz reducing cream, a thick pomade that I love (Tigi Bedhead Manipulator ) and some more oil, sometimes a finishing cream. I just keep adding stuff until it's not so wild. It's not easy to tame that fro! The hair is colored too. It came in a steel gray color mixed with white. My hair had a weird wave before, but never this curly. I use lots of bobby pins to get it to lay flatter. I've always had short hair so I know how to manage that part.
Your beauty WILL come back. It just takes a while unfortunately. We are SO wrecked by the treatment. Some of my nails are still a little discolored and have receded nail beds, but not near as bad as during treatment. They turned brown, had deep ridges and nearly came off! They really hurt too.

Four months PFC. Though I'd anticipated being farther along at this point because I have always had the fastest growing hair ever, at least I am no longer bald. My old part still finds itself, and it's good to see it again. Glad to have a wig to conceal this chaos!

Peachy!!! You look AMAZING!!!!! Yay!!!!! thats exactly how I think I'll be at 4 months too!!! Im 48 and not ready to go grey yet LOL, will be seeing my hairdresser at a safe time to put platinum blonde through mine LOL. Funny you mention your part!!! My hair TOO has foundits original part, really weird huh??
BBwithBC45 - That is so great to hear of your success with cold capping, awesome!!! Phalia - I did alot of research and my MO said it depends on your Chemo regime as to success. Its not recommended for BC treatment here, as most Chemo used you lose every hair possible on your body. Cold capping doesnt work. We also don't ice fingers or toes to save from neuropathy. Eventhough I was horrendously ill through Chemo, I didnt suffer any neuropathy at all, my nails became a little fragile, but never looked different at all. Everyone is different. There is controversy with the cold capping that Ive read on different threads here, I'd do some research and do whats right for you.

Peachy, you look great!
I had a vivid dream last night that I was late to meet my husband somewhere, and my shower seemed to be taking longer than usual...it was not until I got out of the shower and saw my reflection in the mirror that I realized why: my hair was full and down below my shoulders!!! So, it was taking longer to shampoo, etc., than it does now...I was so, so happy! AND, I kept pinching myself and asking myself, 'please tell me this isn't a dream.' After three pinches, I decided it couldn't be a dream since I didn't wake up. But I decided I should pinch myself one more time to be absolutely sure. Then, after the fourth pinch, I did wake up. Boo!

Amazing hair Catlady, Melclarity, Molliefish and Peachy. I am at 15 weeks and still seem to have thin spots especially right at the forehead. I have switched to scarves and hats but am not ready to go with out yet. Maybe another month. Seeing pictures is encouraging that mine to will start to fill in eventually.
