hello😊 Just a quick update because I've had a few private messages asking about my growth. There really isn't more to report. These pictures are today, exactly 6 months pfc. The last month has been really hard as I've been mourning the fact it may never come back. I really appreciate everyone's kind words and support. I love this thread and all the pictures. I think the new hair growth y'all have is so cute!!

More of my head and pubic hair fell out after starting Taxol. A week ago (after 3/12 taxol) I thought my hair was starting to grow back: little black dots all over my head, and hair on my armpits. It's all vanished again.

imjakes - I'm so sorry your hair hasn't grown back faster. Maybe it still will. I can only imagine how difficult this is. All of us worry about our hair not coming back, and when it does begin, we worry about it not coming in fast enough. You do seem to have a unique slowness; however, and my heart goes out to you.

Thanks for all the info on this thread! Just came here to check how long the 'norm' is for re growth! I am 5 1/2 weeks out from my last TC and have had no hint of new hair. Sounds like I shouldn't be too concerned yet, so I feel better!! Feel free to let me know what has been your experience after TC...thanks!! I've just started radiation, does that make a difference?

iamjakes, did you have a chance to follow up with the doctor to see if there may be some other cause? And you have such beautiful blue eyes!
I'm 13 1/2 weeks PFC. My eyelashes are basically back--thickness-wise they're where they were, length-wise almost. Brows are back. Probably TMI, but I reacquainted myself with my waxologist and hadn't missed that pain. Legs need daily shaving. The hair on my head is very thick and I plan to completely ditch the wig in a few weeks, after I get it colored. I skip the wig on weekends out and about now but still not for work; it's grayer than I'd like and I'd still like a little more length up top. Overall, though, I'm happy.

I am 9 weeks pfc and my hair is growing like grass. Just all of a sudden, like overnight. I'm amazed for now because it's mostly dark. my eyebrows are back, and my eyelashes too. Hair on legs has reappeared. Wish it had stayed awol a while longer.
I could not really see much growth until the last 2 weeks.

Valstim52...I hope I can say the same as you in a few weeks. This Wednesday will be 6 weeks for me since my last infusion. I have no hair, although my head feels very fuzzy. Trying not to worry.

Suchick...I am in the same boat as you. This Wednesday will be six weeks since my last TC infusion. I begin rads in two hours. I have no hair, although my head feels fuzzy. Let's keep in touch and compare as time goes by

Today's my first day back at work post surgery (6/1). I had been wearing my wig up until surgery and haven't put it back on since. My hair is much shorter and greyer than I'd like it to be, but I just can't deal with a wig/hat/scarf in this heat. I'm starting Carboplatin and Xeloda next week, and supposedly hair loss is rare. Keeping fingers crossed! Here I am today - 10 weeks since last chemo:

kellychameleon...you just look so pretty and chic!!! The actual color may change as the weeks pass by. When mine started coming back, it definately was a steel grey. I had always had reddish brown with just a touch of grey at the temples. But, it is slowly developing a new color (not sure yet what to call it, as it all looks like it is frosted with different shades of brown). Anyway, you look great and I hope your first day back to work goes well. I am sure you will be pooped before the day is over.

Thanks so much, biscuits! That was so nice of you and made me feel really good! First day back was fine. I made it through the day and got lots of compliments. It felt freeing to just go with it and not have an itchy, sweaty head.

sorry to be late to the party but I agree that you look really cute and rock the look, kellychameleon!
I feel lucky that my chemo was in fall (if one can feel lucky about such a thing). I can't imagine having to wear a hat or wig in the triple digits we are having now. Fortunately, my hair has gotten back to the perfect for summer short look...
Hugs to all

Kelly you look beautiful. Congrats on being back at work. And I agree with octo is is nice to have a free head esp in this humidity in the summer. Plus now your head gets to breathe.

Kelly, - you look terrific!
Imjakes, - what do your onc or dermatologist suggest? Have you tried minoxodil? Hair can be very slow, - so maybe you will still have it return!

Kelly, you look so much like my sister-in-law! You look super cute.

Kelly you look great, and congrats on back to work.

@Paxton29 thank you!!💙@anotherNYCGirl onc has not said much about my lack of hair growth other than to send me to my general practitioner. gp is sending me to the dermatologist. I see the dermatologist July 12. She will determine if my follicles are dead or not. So, the waiting game.

Imjakes, your hair may be slow coming back, but look at your fabulous eyebrows!!
Kelly, you look great!
I have three taxol treatments to go and my hair is growing back. But it's growing back like male pattern baldness, around the sides and a patch in the front. Sparse on the top.

thank you @LoveMyVizsla! In actuality I have very few eyebrows left, I draw them on every day. What's weird is I didn't lose my eyebrows or eyelashes until about 4 months pfc...
I think your hair will come in nicely once you're off the taxol! I really wish I would have done the taxol regimen instead of the taxotere, but I was not aware or told of the chances of permanent hair loss with taxotere!!

Imjakes...could pills or Herceptin if you are still taking it just be slowing the growth? Top of my head is much slower growing. I have Herceptin again on Tues, will keep an eye on mine to see if it slows it at all. It took so long for you to loose your eyebrows and eyelashes that maybe your body just reacts different and the regrowth is delayed. I'm hoping you will continue with hair growth

Konakona....it's coming in quite nicely for only being a month PFC! Mine was about nine weeks out when it looked like yours. I am at the six month mark and I am happy with how it looks. Curly, instead of the straight hair that I've always had. Hang in there. It won't be long before you will be sporting a short, chic hairdo

It's now been 21 weeks PFC. I feel like my hair should be longer. Half an inch a month - five months - 2 1/2 inches right? Or not!
It is longer than it looks because I'm definitely getting some chemo curl as you can see where I pulled it straight. It has a lot of grey, but also is darker than I thought it might be considering that I'll be turning 67 this week. I have made the plunge and go out without a wig or hat unless I'm going to be in the sun for a period of time.

I am now 6 weeks pfc and finally my head is covered and some curls. I didnt really see much growth until about 2 weeks ago, now its like each day it's growing more and more. I was really worried, but now not as much. Just wonder how long it will take to get some inches.

brithael, I was doing the same math last night. I am almost 6 months PFC and my hair is only about an in and a half long, and curly so it looks shorter. I am much more gray than you. (I am 49)

VickiRides my hair sounds much like yours. I'm 6 months out, just over one and a half inches, chemo curl and very grey.
My DIL bought me some tinted shampoo (De Lorenzo) and it does seem to give a little coverage over the grey.

Smurfette, thanks for mentioning that shampoo. I don't want to commit to coloring my hair again, but I've been wanting to lessen the gray. Off to Google it ...

My DIL is a hairdresser and suggested I hold off on dyes for at least 6 months. That 6 months is just about up.
She is looking into "safer" dyes for me at the moment.
I put the shampoo on dry hair about 30 minutes before my shower. Then just rinse out.
Will include a pic.
