Hi there, the hair started growing back about a month out after perjecta and taxotere were halted. Still am on herceptin. Taste buds came back 80% as well!!! I know have a silver short punk with a bit of dark. Used to be a red head... Love the punk silver short... it looks awesome.

Hair came in roughly five weeks after halting perjeta and taxotere. Still on Herceptin, neupogen and zometa. I was a red head until chemo -- diagnosed stage four last July -- now I have gorgeous short silver punk. Never lost the eye lashes nor eyebrows.

At 6 months PFC I had 1 1/2 inches...I had it trimmed so it looked like super short pixie. That is when I quit wearing hats unless outside...I live in Wisconsin. It came in white baby fuzz, the dead mouse grey. I tried highlights bit it bleaches out to ugly yellow. My cosmotoligist uses organic colors....Nothing worked. So unless I go with ammonia/chemical color I will probably leave it alone. I do use purple toner color shampoo and conditioner and it makes the highlights white. No eyebrows yet....1 year anniversary PFC is 7/13. I will have them tatooed in August....

Hi ladies what do you think too short to go to work without wig? I have a small bald spot on top that is bothering me. 14 weeks PFC but I shaved it again at 7 weeks to get rid of the chemo white hair.

I think that you look great! If you are comfortable enough, then go without your wig. With the warmer weather upon us, you will be glad you did. I didn't even have quite as much as you when I finally pulled off my hat and said "that's enough". It truly is a freeing experience

6 weeks PFC ...top is the last pic. It is coming in slower but has a lot of the chemo gray up there which is harder to see. Will be interesting to see what the final colour will be......before I dye it!!!!

I really enjoyed seeing everyone's pictures when I was going through chemo so I thought I'd share. This is 4 weeks post final chemo. I went back to work about 3 weeks later with no wig or scarf! It was mid July, hot, and I was tired of covering it up. I was real excited to have eyebrows! I was very nervous that it was going to be really gray, but it got darker later. I was 49 during chemo.
This is over 5 months after my last chemo. Still pretty short! I've heard that Herceptin can slow hair regrowth and I was getting it for a year.
This is a selfie from tonight. It's kind of messy--I've been to the gym and the makeup is mostly gone. But the hair is getting quite bushy. I have had it trimmed several times on the bottom to keep the mullet at bay. I am currently 13 months post chemo.

I am almost 5 months pfc. I have no idea how to tame these curls growing in! It's too short to even think about using a straightener yet. I guess I will just have to hear threw the awkward stage.

17 weeks PFC. I have been lurking on this board for months watching everyone's hair growth and wondering when mine would finally get going. I think I am finally there! I am still wearing the wig to work and the neighborhood grocery, but going without most other places. I hope I can ditch it for good in a month or two0 -

I am just over 15 weeks PFC and work is the only place I still wear the wig. But hopefully it will be long enough to color and get rid of the gray soon and then it's bye bye wig. This pic is from today (no, I was not actively driving!)

I am nowhere near that length, Paxton. Though I think I am older than most of you here and am on Herceptin. I heard that can slow hair growth. I am just glad it is finally starting to grow! I was worried for quite a while.

Wow, Paxton, your hair looks pretty good for 15 weeks pfc. Mine was just about the same length as yours, PJay, at over 5 months pfc, and your current photo gives me so much hope! I ditched my wig at about 4 months because it just got too dang hot once my hair really started growing, and just wore hats and scarves. I had it professionally trimmed and colored at 6 months and then ditched any coverings full time afterwards. Funny, PJay, my stylist said she'd trim it like a pixie to avoid the mullet, too! I went to an Aveda spa that specializes in cancer patients, because the owner herself had cancer, and they use color that is 98% pure; no foul smell at all. It was very pricey, but I think after all I've been through this last year, I'm worth the price and the pampering! I was very pleased with the results and it really made me feel whole again. I had my last Herceptin tx on July 1 and I wondered if it may have slowed my hair growth because now my hair seems to be growing faster; my bangs especially. Yeah! I think I'll be ready for another trim near the end of July.

Paxton, you look great. You must have had thick hair to start with. Mine has always been thin and fine. Although I never lost mine completely, what is there seems to be falling out, slowly, now that I have one taxol left.

I have heard that Herceptin does slow hair growth, so you unfortunately still have to be patient--cancer just gives us so much, doesn't it?
Yes, LovesMyViszla, I had super mega thick hair before and it seems it is returning that way, though I did just start Tamoxifen which could cause thinning. Dear Lord, I promise not to complain about my thick hair any more .... And my hairdressers need to stop complaining too--that is, when it grows out long enough to wear them out again.

I am 12 weeks pfc and have so much less hair then I expected I would have by now. Guess herceptin (and tamoxifen?) is the reason, will definitly keep wearing my wig till the end of the year, probably even longer.

Hello all,
Have been absent for awhile. I was pfc 3/14 and Herceptin 11/14. Still on exemestane (which thins my hair unless on biotin) and taking Biotin 2-3x a week. Mine came back all white and stayed white. So now I dye every few weeks to keep roots colored. My hair is dark brown so white is very noticeable. Cut my ends and bangs regularly, while I have all my hair back and growing great. It is a very different texture than before.

I am eight weeks pfc with just a fuzzy head. I check every day for more hair‼️ I am really hoping that something starts happening soon

I'm posting these pics for inspiration for you all. The top one is 8 weeks PFC, the middle one is 12 weeks PFC, and the bottom one is 6 months PFC. I regularly colored my hair before but my hair came back much more gray than I think I had before. I was going to try to not color it but I realized it was causing me stress so I did have it colored. I felt so much more confident going without a wig after that. It just takes time and lots of patience.

In my experience, Herceptin did slow hair growth, but it still filled in and grew. About a month post Herceptin, I really saw the growth. For me it is easy to measure. I am dyed dark brown and hair comes in totally white. I color about every 4 weeks and when I do I have a good root of close to an inch showing.

Got the courage and bit the bullet this morning: shaved the last of my hair. There was less maybe a hundred strands left, and I wasn't getting the benefit of it hanging out there bottom of a scarf anymore.
I had thick hair to start with, and lost two thirds on AC, and the rest about 3 or so weeks into Taxol.
But the good news is I have a tiny growth of dark fuzz on my head. Maybe a quarter inch, mostly in the parts where I lost my hair first. I had Taxol #7 yesterday.
And I have a bit of white fuzz on my chin and my armpits. Not rejoicing in those so much!
One eyebrow has about five hairs left on it, one substantially more. I've never been much of a make up person, so I feel a bit ridiculous putting make up on every time I leave the house, just so I look like a gypsy under my scarves rather than a sick person.0 -
I agree about feeling more confident going without my wig after coloring my hair. The salt and pepper color I had was actually kinda pretty, my mother really loved it, but I'm not ready for all gray permanently just yet.

So happy to finally start seeing growth! This is 2 weeks pfc after a 2 month break between chemo #5&6. Had to take a break for awhile to regain my strength.. Hoping the last chemo/TCHP doesn't knock out what I've gained. Looks to be full coverage and darker than expected. I'm hoping the next 6 mos of Herceptin won't inhibit growth. Eyebrows are still half gone and few eyelashes to speak of but its still early.

Akioli, I think your growth looks nice. It is even and not splotchy like mine. I think I am going to shave my head and start over. Last chemo is Thursday.

LoveMyVizsla I shaved it at 7 weeks PFC, it was growing but I still have the longer white chemo hair that never fell out and it looked bad. I posted a picture on 7/6 if you go back you can see what it is now.

I'd like to share something that's worked for me as my hair's growing back.
My neighbour successfully beat breast cancer 2 years ago and when I finished chemo, she gave me a baby brush. It was a tad unusual to say the least. She then explained that I should brush my hair, as often as I like (and I like it a lot so I did it a lot), and now everyone comments on how 'well-behaved' my hair is. It lies nicely against my head. She said it trains the hair as it grows and it seems to have worked for me.
My rads nurse also suggested using my most-affected arm to do this, like exercise and she's also right. It's been very helpful in getting my very stiff and sore arm to move more.
Everyone's hair looks lovely, it's so nice to see again once it comes in, isn't it?
