rainy mine, was slow growing back especially after the 52 wks of Herceptin. Mine came back in different phases, first white "peach" fuzz, then ever sooo slowly normal hair BUT not my hair. Thin, fine & straight as a stick. Previous to this journey it was thick (even for my age), wavy and could do anything & everything with it.......so easy to work with. Now after 6 yrs. PCF it still looks the same. About a month ago I cut it short (longer in crown) and it's not too bad. At least I feel more a little like my old self. While in chemo I had a lady come up to me with wild bushy hair mostly white & told me not to be too forlorn that the hair would come back but then proceeded to tell me she got the opposite of what she had prior to chemo. I'm so happy for those of you who got close to what you use to have. I think about that lady & groan.......I couldn't get a word out of my mouth that day.....alll I could do was stare at her hair.

Chin up gals....you'll get something eventually. Some of us simply just get it slower than others. Happy I though about getting some microblading done for eyebrows then decided at my age why bother.

One year and five months after chemo (last Herceptin end of February) i have about 8" of hair. Crown of head is last to normalize, I still have some pretty good waves, figure they won't be gone until the top hair gets longer. Right now the top layer is halfway down my ear and waves up right there. Super annoying, sometimes I end up with wings. I slather a ton of conditioner on it and leave on for a long time. Then treat with either Argan oil or something similar, a tiny bit of coconut oil, spritz in some hair spray, and do not comb it again until 100% dry. If I go to beach, between wind and salt air it curls like crazy, but I can get it to lay down if I do the right things to it. Just be patient, it takes awhile. The picture below is with no styling, just a tiny bit of coconut oil. Go easy on coconut oil if you try it,or else you will look like a 50s style greaser hairdo lol.

JustAgirl33 I shaved mine after losing most of it. I have not lost my eyebrows or lashes but they do appear thinner. I have maintained stubble and have not lost it, but there are patches of baldness. As of today I am 15 days from my last infusion I can only assume whatever loss I have is over. I have started using essential oils. Not sure if it works, but a small investment if it does. I am also anxiously awaiting hair. I miss my pony tail. I invested in several good wigs but I amuncomfortable.

Seq24 I read lots of material about what to expect. Chemo sucks and it general took me a week to feel better, but I did not have a lot of the things people experience. I had a mild fever, irritability and aching. Also as someone encouraged miralax for sure!!! I was not provided an option for the steroid but found Benadryl really helped. God Bless to all this all really stinks I have my intake to set up my radiation tomorrow can't wait for a time when all this poking and prodding will end 👍✝️🎉🙏

LimnoGal - I never noticed until today that I had such sideburns! Unbelievable that I never noticed, but you're right, it has to be at a certain light and angle. The hairs were long, but thin and white. I borrowed my husband's beard trimmer to get rid of them. While I was at it, I plucked a few eyebrow hairs.

9 wks PFC - My scalp hair is dark like before chemo, but most strands are baby hair fine. I'm used to very thick strands. I've been taking weekly pics so I can see the changes, but getting impatient. Guess I've forgotten that I was pretty much hairless when chemo ended. Still wearing a hat when going out.

I will be having my 4th and final AC infusion this coming Friday. So far I have not lost all my hair. I have about 1/4 left and have not shaved it. Dr. and nurses all assured me that it would be gone after the 3rd infusion. Most people have said that hair starts growing back during Taxol. So my question is, if I can manage to keep what's left of my hair after AC #4, will that hair start growing again in addition to getting new hair once I start Taxol in early Nov.? Or is that just dead hair that will just sit there? Even though I have felt pretty yucky for a week after each infusion, I have had no side effects to speak of. I was told by one NP that I have defied the odds of AC. I'm wondering if my hair is included in that.

seq24, I didn't lose all of my hair on AC either. I lost most of the rest of it on taxol, but still have some strands of that hair along with the new strands. I did cut the pre-existing ones short, otherwise you will have two lengths of hair. I also found that the old hair is sort of damaged. It is very textured, and not in a good way. Each strand is rough and not healthy.

hi ladies - I'm new to this forum. I'm about a month out from my last chemo TCH and I'll continue with Herceptin unti June. During chemo I lost about 90% of my hair and just have some short rough patches. I haven't noticed any new hair growth - I keep looking fuzz but nothing. Also my eyebrows started falling out yesterday! They thinned dramatically during chemo but now they're falling out! I was so glad to be done with chemo I thought by this time I'd start to see some new hair growth. Feeling a little disappointed.Anyone else on this regime of chemo experince slow hair growth? I'm just worried because ive read taxotere can cause permanent hair loss.

probably too soon after final chemo to notice substantial hair growth. After chemo I still had some hair left, but I looked like a newborn baby or old man with little wispy patches. I ended up buzzing the leftover hair after chemo to even everything out. Mine first grew in and looked like little blackheads on my scalp, then finally got going. Three months after final chemo I had about 1/4" of hair, and I dyed it, then it looked fuller because all the blonde and gray hairs got color. And I believe Herceptin did slow my hair growth because once it finished my hair started growing a lot faster. On our March 2015 chemo forum, everybody got their hair back, but some took longer than others to start seeing hair growth. I think one woman didn't even see much until three months after chemo ended.

Heathet- I'm on the same chemo regime as you but behind you. I had cut my long hair to pixie before starting treatment, then when it was coming out like crazy, shaved it. Still have stubble in a variety of places. I'm curious like you about the return, but popping on this board it seems to vary. Not many doing the regime like the two of us. Keep me posted please! Smile

I did TCHP and I'm still on Herceptin till next March. Last chemo was 6/30. Here's 4 months of growth.. slow going but it's filling in nicely. Also, my eyebrows and eyelashes were GONE! It takes awhile but it does come back. I've read many times here that Herceptin slows the growth. Just glad to have any hair back!

And no chemo curls.. perfectly straight

    Everyone!

It has been a while since I've posted. Am going for my first colour on Thurs of my new hair. I'm not a short hair person so Jill I totally get you when people always say how great short hair look so on me. Even the colour compliments! If mine had some in all silver I may have been okay but I have never in my life had dark hair and will never get use done to it. I also no longer look like a cancer patient, more like it is an intended cut. Ive bee not sending my hairdresser pictures of hair colours I like and bought some violet manic Panic colour to add.

Here is 21 weeks PFC. I'm thinking of going really blonde with purple splashes to funk it up since it will be a while before it's longer again.

    I'm looking at these colours

I know my hairdresser does not want to use bleach tho....so Thursday should be interesting! Back to work gradually 2 weeks from today, on Halloween! Will let you see what happens!

    Dara congrats on finishing Chemo!

DaraB - Are those your real lashes? I had none by the end of Taxol. It took a few weeks to see them again.

Karen - Your hair is thick! Can't wait to see it blonde and purple.

Myra - Both you and Karen have such thick hair. Mine is still fine, though my eyebrow hairs are thick.

    Hello All

It's been a while since I checked in. Working on my online doll shop again. It gives me great mindless joy. I've been an avid doll collector for decades but the time has come to part with a lot of my babies. My DD came up with the idea of an ebay store and it's been a success so far. More fun has been going through all the stored dolls.

I'm doing well considering the stroke. Stronger each day and and keeping my mind focused on a positive future and trying not to mire my thoughts with recurrence.

Going to a survivor workshop put on by my MO. Will be interested to see what goes on. I go to a very large cancer center and never heard of this until I got the word I was NED, or cancer free.

I have plenty of hair. It's so unlike what I lost. Soft and curly and dark.. I was I t hink mostly grey (been coloring for years). Always had a flat iron ready. Now I don't need it. The hardest thing is getting used to not having a lot of hair on my head. When I pass a mirror I always am taken aback by who I see.

Valstim, so happy to hear from you and how you are doing. Heart issues worry me too since I a, still on Hercepton. I am happy to hear you are moving forward Andrew I too would love to see your dolls!

Serenity, to be fair I have always had really thick hair. I used to get my hair dresser to thin it on top! There is still more that isn't the same length as the rest as it was slower to come in. It is at the stage that it likes to do it's own thing. I definitely won't have real blonde hair tomorrow since she won't use bleach but I am trying to convince her to use some just on the tips for the purple to go on. I'm excited for my appointment!

I lost my eyelashes and eyebrows after I finished Taxotere. One eyebrow still has not fully grown back the same as the other but close enough

Hey guys - I'm still trucking right along, just over 8 months pfc. My doctor has me on tamoxifen now and I have to say - the hot flashes / night sweats are killing me. Obviously, I can't take hormone therapy - do any of you have any suggestions? I really miss not being able to get a good night's sleep. :(

Well, she decided my hair was healthy enough to bleach, here it is!! The purple will fade a bit once washed a few times! So nice to not have something I like better with some funk while i grow it out!

Does anyone know if there is a facebook group with lots of pictures of hair growth after chemo? I know this topic is full of them, but as my hair keeps growing I like to compare with others who are as far pfc as me, and it's a pain to go through al the pages here several times ;)

Ladies-a friend recommended going to a different hairdresser (meaning not my normal hairdresser) as my hair grows back in. The thought behind the recommendation is that a new hairdresser doesn't have an image of what you "normally" look like, and might offer up more interesting style options. Thoughts, experiences or recommendations?

Hey LimnoGal that is a great idea. I know in my case, my hairdresser was really distressed when I lost my long locks... That is such a great idea. Thanks.
