Hi ladies, i hear your about relearning how to style hair. I have always had long hair. So I also went to my stylist begging her to show me how to style my hair. I know am not sure if I will grow it long again. Here is me today 14 months post chemo. and one of before.

I use Biotin shampoo. Take hair skin and nails vitamins. Only use products when necessary, and only products from my hairstylist. I have also used a keratin shampoo.

are you on an anastrozole? I have been taking arimidex for 11 months and a month ago I realized I was getting major thinning on top of my head

Anastrozoleeffects estrogen .. low estrogen can cause hair loss

    I am bumming a bit..

Shelabela, I love your hairstyle! How many times have you gotten a trim? I already trimmed mine once and I feel like I need to get it trimmed again. I don't know if I'll grow mine again. My hair was about your length also.

MamaOz, I'm ER+ and premenopausal so taking tamoxifen. I guess that makes sense then why I'm experiencing the thinning as well.

sunnyjay, I've gotten 2 trims. My friend is a beautician and she trims it a little. Keeps a style.

Two weeks out from Taxotere. Best friend said there was fuzz last night. I was on a three week regiment. I started growing each round at two weeks only to loose it again. Next Friday I will be going into new growing territory. My hair was crazy thick so I'm hoping that will serve me in this growing back part. I know a small percentage of Taxotere people end up with permanent bald patches but I'm just not going to think about that. I have bigger BC worries and hope (God willing) that won't be part of my story. I bought a wig but wore it only once and ended up with a collection on fedoras. I wear a fedora, hoop earrings and lots o eye makeup. I don't like the look. I hate not having hair. I had a giddy moment a day or two ago - soooo happy to be on the path to looking normal again. I hope to bleach and color it platinum when its a half inch like Michelle Williams. I have an amazing hair colorist who will be able to handle it. I need to do the research though because that might be too hard on the new follicles. I'll probably have to wait till it has a thicker texture before risking it. I'm ordering Nioxin today. They sell it on Ebay.

    MamaOz, looking lovely! Beautiful colour!

Rachelcarter35, I love Michelle Williams’s blonde pixie too...would love to have that style someday. I am 5 weeks PFC now and still not much happening, scalp feels a bit more rough like sandpaper in patches though so hoping it’s the start of something! I did find two black tiny hairs sprouting on my cheek...grrrr not the hair that I want! Hope everyone is feeling well :)

thanks leesa. I am having some thinning on top most likely from the arimidex, but with the trim and root touch up it helped

    Hope your doing well!

    Thanks hersheykiss and wink22

Hang in there .. I originally (when done chemo) used a nizoral dandruff shampoo to help open up the follicles

Then aragan shampoo. and take a hair , skin and nails vitamin

I didnt color it until 8 months after when it was 2-3 inches

    💕

Just popping in for those who are worried about hair regrowth. Did 12 x Taxol followed by 4 x every 4 weeks AC before surgery, then another 12 x weekly Taxol after surgery. I shaved my hair off a day before my first chemo so that I wouldn't have to watch it slowly fall out.

Hello Wink from Aussieland! And InGerp!

No!! My hair was straight with a slight annoying wave. I have no idea how to tame this beast it’s so thick and curly. Honestly this photo makes it look tame.

I want to grow my hair back long so I haven’t touched it with any trims (although doubt you can do much with it yet-very frustrating). But the curls are poodle-like. I just bought a bunch of styling products from Ouidad yesterday hoping they can help. Any words of wisdom from the chemo curl experts??

I try to remain super thankful as last year at this time -not a thread on my head!! Perhaps solution is to go back to wigs when the weather breaks!!

CBK, was your hair thick before chemo? Mine was baby fine, straight as a board & laid flat against my skull. I'm just over 20 weeks PFC and now have full coverage, but it's still too short to tell if it's thicker than before. Thanks to my Dad's male pattern baldness, the top & crown were much slower to return. So that area is still pretty short while the sides & back are a full inch longer with a bit of curl. So if I don't comb it flat while it's wet, I end up looking like Bozo the clown. Loopy I'm hoping within the next month or so it will be at a stage where I can it to look like a more intentional haircut instead of "recovering from chemo" hair.

    Hello Tabz-

My hair had been thinning very badly before chemo. I think combo of stress, my surgery and being perimenopausal. But no way my hair was even remotely this thick. Although I did have a thick head of hair in my better days.

My hair grew in much like you are describing with the front and crown to fill-in after back and sides. I think it’s starting to even out now. But still so short.

Five months PFC is still so early, right? I know it doesn’t feel that way to you!! It’s going to grow in beautifully. Five months PFC I had not colored my hair yet and sounds like what you are describing the curls were just starting to appear. Little did I know how crazy they would become. My color shifted too.

I’m going to share photo of me 5months PFC since we were on same chemo regime and probably unless you cold-capped you were bald as bald could be a week after your first A/C.

Wow CBK, that's really thick! My hair has always been baby fine, so I'm not getting my hopes up that it will be remarkably thicker.

I did not cold cap (not available here), but I didn't lose my hair until 3 weeks after my first AC and never got completely cue ball bald. I shaved it when my scalp became too sensitive from the shedding, but still had stubble. A week later the stubble was a bit longer & the prickly-ness was annoying, so I shaved it again. Then it started coming back again, so I figured who was I to argue with it, LOL. I had sparse coverage about 1/4" of hair throughout treatment. I did continue taking my Hair, Skin & Nails biotin supplement the whole time, so I'm sure that may have helped.

It's been so hot that I've been going without hats for almost a month now. I've only worn my wig for going to job interviews. Right now the top & front is just reaching one inch while the back is nearly 2 1/2. My regrowth was coming in gray outnumbering the bit of dark hair I had retained. The gray made the coverage look much thinner than it actually was, so I did henna/indigo about a month ago before I started going hat free. I haven't used commercial coloring for over a decade because the henna/indigo blend is much healthier & gentler on my hair.

    Tabz-

That’s impressive you were growing on AC? They gave me one dose of that and my hair was history! Then I lost every brow and lash on Taxol. Wow, I wonder if your supplement was a factor.

I started taking just Biotin when I began Taxol. I began to sprout hair during that treatment. I still take Biotin and a bunch of other supplements.

That sounds like great growth for this stage post-chemo! I hear ya, I’m not sporting any wigs or hats in this heat; it’s been one helluva summer! I’m just happy this one didn’t include chemo!

I use a super mild color I love from Whole Foods. But it is a dye and only lets you lighten up to two shades. I had my hairdresser dye my hair 6 months PFC but it faded in like 2 weeks, so a friend and I took on the job together😁. I know many people say hair is resistant to color post-chemo so I hit it a lot on my own with mild dye

rachelcarter--I'm obsessively rubbing my head too. Lots of blond hairs about 1/4" long plus random much longer ones--same thing on my legs. I am feeling like I'll never get to the point where I need a haircut. :'(

Its another hair loss question. I did 4 round of A/C and began losing my head, pubic and armpit hair between 14-21 days. I was meant to start taxol for 12 weeks (with Hereptin and P every third week) but because of a blood clot, then some abnormal blood work following and then a blender accident with my finger, I was delayed 5 weeks. In that time, I lost my eyebrows and eyelashes and most of my remaining head hair. Today, I have completed 3 rounds of taxol, with my 4th round tomorrow (so 21 days in) and my hair has been growing back in for a couple of weeks now. my eye lashes and eye brows are short, but growing in full and dark. Will I lose my hair a second time because of taxol or will it continue to grow (slowly)? thanks and any similar experiences would be appreciated. I have ready people's hair tart coming back in during the 12 weeks on taxol after A/C, so I thought maybe the taxol itself doesn't cause hairless after hair loss has already occurred? Thanks so much!
