I just found this thread.  Thank you Foots and everyone else praying for me!  I was so sad and scared the week of my diagnosis.  My mind kept wandering to the "dark side" of sadness and despair (as my sister and I call it).  I had a friend come over with his sister who prayed with me and for my healing.  It was one of the most amazing experiences.  I felt so good and positive after that.  I feel I can beat this thing and have many angels to guide me along the way!  :)

bcincolorado - thank you too for all of your prayers.  I am very touched by this.  I prayed today for all of our sisters that we find comfort and healing.

I received 3 cards in the mail today with people praying for me. One sent me a Saint Agatha!  The funny thing is that none of these people know each other and they are all from different parts of the country. :)

Lord, bless my sisters on the boards here. Thank you so much that we can hold each other up before you. Thank you, Lord, for who you are and that you are a caring God and love each one of us. Help us to know you better and love you more. Pour out your love and mercy on all of the ladies here: be with us as we try to walk with your Spirit and serve you in all of our situations. May your name be glorified. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Oh Merciful Healer.

Your compassion is abundantly clear in the blossoms all around and their glorious color bringing joy to our hearts as this season of growth and promise unfolds all around us. Your attention to detail is even more amazing as we zoom in on the structure of the individual bloom as it unfolds. Your word tells us that you know each particular sparrow -- how much more you love each of us your children.

Our community here is gathered together with a common denominator of dis-ease. You are our source of 'ease.' We see the ease of our sister Footie as she prays for us each by name. We see your ease in our fellow sisters gathered here together to hold one another up, through times of difficulty, concern and challenge. We each minister to one another thru our example, thru our prayers, thru our efforts on one another's behalf. I ask that you bring peace to us individually and as a community.

We know fear. We know pain. We know your desire for us is wholeness. We know that your example is one of reaching out in the midst of these very real circumstances with hope & with promise. May we be your light to one another. May those who have the skill to articulate your love and support do so when they are able. By so doing another may be boosted by what they know in their heart, yet grapple with in their head because of the details which threaten to overwhelm.

We ask that our medical teams be given empathy and caring....that they act with concern and responsibility and professionalism and wisdom beyond their training. We ask that you guide them as they care for us. We ask that our decision making be blessed by your Divine guidance and direction. We ask that you look over those in our very midst who are lost, adrift, frightened or alone. We ask that you bless those who are overwhelmed and afraid. We ask that you guide us to reach out to those here who are in need.

We give thanks for the resource that this site gives us. We give thanks to those who sponsor us, that we may weave a community of caring -- beyond borders and divisions. We give thanks for those in our midst who shine Your Light to us in their posts, in their care and in their support of one another.

You know the concerns of our individual hearts. May you lift us up in our time of need. We are gathered here in Your name. We ask and we believe.

Guide us to be your people in the midst of this experience. Hold us each in the palm of your hand that we may be strengthened for the journey ahead.

    This is an awesome story:

After a few of the usual Sunday evening hymns,
the church's  pastor slowly stood up,
walked over to the pulpit and,
before he gave  his sermon for the evening,
he briefly introduced a guest minister
who was in the  service that evening.
In the introduction, the pastor told the
congregation that the guest minister was
one of his dearest childhood friends and
that he wanted him to have a few moments
to greet the church and share whatever
he felt would be appropriate for the service.

With that, an elderly man stepped up to the
     pulpit and began to speak.
A father, his son, and a friend of his son were
sailing off the pacific coast,' he began.
When a fast approaching storm blocked any
attempt to get back to the shore.  The waves
were so high, that even though the
father was an experienced sailor, he could not
keep the boat upright and the three were swept
into the ocean as the boat capsized.'
The old man hesitated for a moment,
making eye contact with two teenagers who were,
for the first time since the service began,
looking somewhat interested in his story.
The aged minister continued with his story,
'grabbing a rescue line, the father had to make the
most excruciating decision of his life: to which boy old he throws the other end of the life line.  E only had seconds to make the decision. The father knew that his son was a Christian and
he, also, knew that his son's friend was not.
The agony of his decision could not be matched by
    the torrent of waves.
As the father yelled out, 'I love you, son!'  They threw out the life line to his son's friend.
By the time the father had pulled the friend back
to the capsized boat, his son had disappeared beneath
the raging swells into the black of night.
      His body was never recovered.
By this time, the two teenagers were sitting up
straight in the pew, anxiously waiting
for the next words to come out of the old minister's mouth.
'The father,' he continued, 'knew his son would
step into eternity with Jesus and he could not
bear the thought of his son's friend stepping into
an eternity without Jesus... Therefore, he sacrificed
his son to save the son's friend. How great is the love of god that he should do the same for us... Our Heavenly father sacrificed his only begotten son that we could be saved. I urge you to   accept his offer to rescue you and take a hold of the
life line he is throwing out to you in this service.'
with that, the old man turned and sat back down in
his chair as silence filled the room the pastor again walked slowly to the pulpit and delivered a brief sermon with an invitation at the end. However, no one responded to the appeal.
Within minutes after the service ended,  the two
teenagers were at the old man's side 'that was a nice story,' politely stated  one of  them, ‘but I don't think it was very realistic for a  father to give  up his only son's life in hopes that
the other boy would become a Christian.'
'Well, you've got a point there,' the old man replied,
glancing down at his worn bible. A big smile broadened
his narrow face. He once again looked up at the boys
and said, ‘it sure isn't very realistic, is it? But,
I'm standing here today to tell you
that story gives me a glimpse of what it must have been like for god   to give up his son for me...
You see...I was that father and your pastor is my son's friend.
