    Oooooooooh Mallemeeeeeeee..........

TODAY is your 1 MONTH quit-aversary AND your husband is right there behind you!!!!  In the beginning, did you think you would make it this far?  Sooooo proud of BOTH of you!

I put in my first garden last year.  Just starting to plan what I want to plant this year, too!

Sweet... 13 pounds! Yikes.  In your avatar you look so slender, in fact I thought originally that your name was because you liked aerobics.... not Aerosmith...lol  You must be down to just a bit of nothing!

Sounds like a good idea to wait until you're sure before having that Caesar Salad BUT, I bet when you do, it going to be the best darn salad EVER!!!

Glad you have come to a decision on your last chemo.  When will your last chemo be?

Having the little ones around can really be a lot of fun!  I have a niece that's 8 years old and I always love it when she's around!  She has the greatest imagination!! Almost makes me miss my own at that age!

I really can't tell you how absolutely proud and truly HAPPY I am for you that, you were able to be with your daughter... while she was smoking.... and NOT smoke!!!  That is just BEYOND huge for you (or anyone for that matter) because that has always been such a big trigger for you!  I do believe, this is YOUR time!!

If you listen really carefully out your window, you may hear the applause all the way from NY!!!

sweet, hope that this last treatment treats you gently, I so admire the fact that you are quiting during treatment.  And you sound like a non-smoker now, you have really quit, especially when you can sit with your daughter and the cigarettes right there and stand firm.  Isn't it great when they don't smell good.  Now, the next form for a doctor that you fill out, you get to check, non-smoker!  It's quite an accmplishment.  Way to go, sweet.   Karen

    Karen,

Glad to hear from you.  Was thinking about you this morning and wondering how you were!  We're getting some really ugly weather here today... Started as rain, went to ice and now a really wet, heavy snow!  I'm thinking this winter can't be done with too soon!!

    Hi All,

I actually put on some weight before dx, (got comfortable in a new relationship) LOL. So I  still want to loose a few more pounds. I will put on a few once eating returns to normal, but I will try to keep it under control so that I dont have too much too loose when tx is over.

My grandson went home. :( I miss him already. He added life to the house. Even though all he wants to do is play video/computer games. (I notice an almost addiction) so I found a website with childrens short stories, and after a little while of a game he was playing, I made him read to me. This country is out of control with all the video games. It is numbing the minds of our children!!

Seaside, I cant hear the applause over all the heavy rain I am getting here. haha. At least it's not snow for me.

Well, off to eat a little dinner. (I hope) :)

Seaside, I too have had enough of it.  Yesterday was the definition of the word dreary, with heavy rain all day, and the snowpiles melted.  Today they came back, about 3 inches of snow total and dreary again.  I did see in the long range forecast, 2 days of sun.  I've forgotten what it looked like, can't wait till it gets here.  As you said it would, I have long streches of time that I don't think of smoking - all those years I stood outside to smoke.  I did meet some nice people out there though.  I think I'm in my 6th week of not smoking and have met some really nice people here.  I have started journaling about my godmother.  I do it in the A.M., so it colors my days.  I write about good memories, stupid things that made us laugh, the hints she gave about being ready to "pass over".The ways in which her quality of life had in fact made her feel "bored and not needed". She was such a wise woman and I keep her alive in my heart.  I was fortunate to have her in my life as long as I did.  Karen

    Karen,

I think the journaling is a fabulous idea!!! I think it will be very healing for you and such a beautiful tribute to your godmother!

I wish I would have thought of doing something similar when my Grandmother passed away.  She was the kindest, most gentle woman you would ever want to meet.  I thought she would live forever but, she passed shortly before my daughter's 1st birthday at the age of 72.  I was 28!  The thing I am most grateful for is that she came for a visit and was able to meet her great-granddaughter just 2 months before!  I still miss her!

You are right... Those that we love will live on in our hearts forever!  We just sure wish they lived on forever, here! A lifetime is never long enough!

    Take care and hugs!

Jan, sounds like you are just bubbling over with joy.  Will the girls be your first grandchildren?  It is oh so very special to hold them for that first time.  I can remember it like it was yesterday. Karen

    Jan and Karen.... LOL....

I guess we all DO speak a kind of different language here on these threads and unless you know the back story, it can be sort of confusing!  Jan's going in for her exchange on Friday so the "twins" we are talking about are her brand-new breasts!

Although baby grandchildren twins would be A-OK for me!!

I truly can't remember anything... lol!

But I have gotten good at writing notes to myself, which I do when one of us has an important date coming up!  As for the quit-aversaries.. I just refer back to the quit smoking roll call list!

    Karen,

No need to feel embarassed!!! I'm sure we've all read something, here or elsewhere, before and thought it meant something TOTALLY different than it did!  Makes for some interesting stories!!!  I know I have a few!

Congrats Jan, I will be thinking of you on Friday, and praying for a quick and easy recovery!

Karen, The scrapbooking is a great idea and Im glad it's helping you. When my mom passed, my MIL (at the time) mailed me a package, it included 2 scrapbooks and all kinds of stickers, pens, ect for me and my brother to sit down together and make scrapbooks. Well, Im not a crafty person and dont see my brother that often, so it is still sitting in my closet. (He isnt the type to make a scrapbook anyway). But it was a very thoughtful gift. I'm not sure what I will do with them. I have no idea how to scrapbook.

Jennifer, Yes, we do speak a different language here thats for sure.... It's nice to use the abbreviations and have people know what Im talking about. Sometimes I just dont tell people things (like on facebook) because I dont feel like typing it all out...

    Yes,

    annettek,

Congrats! Time flys.  I think Im 18 days now. Yes, still very early in my quit, but I feel really good about it. I was always the one to slip at day 3, this time, I had 1 slip around day 11 or 12, but knew right away that I screwed up. I didnt even get that "rush" or "relief" I was looking for, only bad breath and stinky cloths. LOL. Keep going, you can do it. I was a pack (sometimes up to 2) packs a day for 27 years.

Did you go cold turkey or using NRT's? I'm using the patch with great success.

Webwriter hasn't posted or logged in since Oct 09 so unfortunately I am not sure if she was successful with her effort to quit smoking.  I have been curious too...

    YEAH annetek!!!!

You said you were going to post back with a quit date BUT you have done even BETTER!!!  Congrats on 5 (soon to be 6) days!!! You are through the worst days!  Things will get gradually better for the next couple weeks and then rapidly improve from there!!

If I do the math right, your quit date is March 2nd  or 3rd?  I would be happy to add you to our quit smoking roll call, if you would like!  Let me know if you would like me to do that and post your actual date!

VERY happy for you.... I found it to be helpful to keep Alan Carr's book handy and, when I was struggling, I re-read the sections that pertained to what I was having trouble with... That helped a LOT!

You are doing so well!!! Keep it going!

    Jan,

Yes, my lumpectomy was scheduled for 3:00.... Yuck!  It did make for a long day but, a lumpectomy isn't NEARLY as exciting as an exchange!!! I'm sure you will be so excited that the day will just fly by!!!

Edited to add: I, too, often wonder about what became of webwriter and all of the others that started this thread!  Did they quit?  How are they doing today?  Would LOVE to hear back from some of them!

    Karen....

It seems I spoke waaaaaaay to soon about spring being just around the corner!!   We got just SLAMMED with snow yesterday and last night!!

Forecast, yesterday morning was for ice changing to snow with 3-5 inches predicted... Ehhhh, baby stuff... By late afternoon the prediction was 6-10 inches.... Ok, you've got my attention....  By night, the prediction was 16+ inches... Holy Crap!

Actual total where I am.... 18 - 24 inches!   No school.  Even the colleges are closed!  Entire county in a state of emergency until 5 pm today!  Today was a dig out day!!  Soooooo ready to be done!!
