Candie,
Glad to hear that you are still going strong!! You all were my inspiration when I first started and didn't know how I was going to make it through the next hour much less a day, week, month or.... gasp... year!
If you would like to be added to the list, it would be my privilege to add you... Just post or PM your quit date!0 -
Bama,
Yikes! 2 1/2 hours is long but, then I have never had one so maybe that 's the norm! All that matters is that you are happy with them... i have seen others that have gotten regular tattoos and they do look a little raw while they heal but in the end they look great! Hope it didn't hurt and that you are comfortable tonight!
Lisamarie,
Love the new avatars.... Congrats on 7 Weeks!!! That PS is going to be smiling ear-to-ear when you tell him! All of those times we have all seen the 'disappointed doctor scowl' when we say we
are still smoking will fade when they tell you how happy they are for you!! So very proud of you....
Jo,
Thinking of you and hoping that all went well and that you are resting comfortably.... Sending very gentle hugs your way......
Karen,
See you in a few over on the AI thread.......0 -
Bama, hope it wasn't painful, that is the last step in reconstruction right? hope they look marvalous when you are all healed. 2and 1/2 is a long time to lay still. gentle hugs Jo, hope you are resting easy, gentle hugs to you too. I really missed not having you on the thread today, a day without Jo is rather strange. Talk to you when you are able. Seaside, a few minutes more, I hope PP can do a song from Motown, it was a limited number of songs that Sheila posted.

lisamarie, you can do this, Jo would be coaching you to stay strong, just for today I will not smoke. You are a strong woman with all of us here for you, you have faced bigger demons, you have faced cancer and won over it. Soon Jo will be back on the thread telling you how proud of you she is for having resisted temptation and you will assure her that you have fought the good fight and won. You are able to surmount both of these cravings because YOU HAVE NOT SMOKED< JUST FOR TODAY. love and hugs, Karen

Fear releasing activity:
• Sit in a quiet place, slow your breathing down. Breathe in for 5 seconds, exhale for 5 seconds. Repeat and concentrate on your breath. Let go of all thoughts and tensions. Try to relax as much as possible.
• Imagine you are floating in the clouds. You are able to look down at your life like looking down at a road. You can see where you currently are, where you have been and where you are going.
• See a situation in the past where you were also fearful or lacked the skills you needed to accomplish something but you overcame that fear and you learned new skills. See that situation in your present life and notice the fear is gone. All you feel is a sense of accomplishment for overcoming that fear or lack of skill. Notice how good you feel.
• Now imagine you are looking at your life one month from your quit date. There is no more fear of quitting. You are living your life as a non-smoker feeling happy and pleased with your decision, feeling pride in your accomplishment. You see yourself having learned new skills to fill in where your cigarettes used to be. You realize you overcame your fear and have successful broken any connection to your fear of quitting and those fears are a thing of the past, just like the fears you experienced in the previous situation you overcame. Notice how good you feel.0 -
Lisamarie...you can do this. I am doing great with the non smoking. Believe it or not the only time I really need and want one is before a surgeryor medical procedure of some kind!! But I do not have one.
Jo you are in my prayers!!
Have a good day everyone...remember...just for today we will not smoke!
hugs

Hi babs, of course you can do this, you already battled cancer. Just keep taking those little steps, and repeating "just for today - I will not smoke". Chew gum, chew on a straw or swizzle stick, remember to drink lots of water,. breathe deeply. Exercising helps too. Reread VJ's post, written 5 hours ago on this thread. You've already finished 3 days, let's get 4 under your belt. Stay strong babs, you can do it.Karen.

lisamarie, thank you for keeping us informed. Maybe with the bloodwork they will find out what the problem is and she'll be released tomrrow, she's probably straining at the bit to get out of there. With it being a weekend, it may be Monday before we hear from our Jo, they don't do much on the weekends. Keep the news coming, take care lisamarie, hugs, Karen

Lisamarie,
I know that, given your upcoming surgery, what is going on with Jo has something to do with how you're feeling... Just remember, as different and individual as we are in our diagnosis, we are as well in our responses to treatment and surgery...
Jo has lots of prayers behind her and we will all be pulling for you as well! Smoking now won't change anything....
Hugs and much love.....0
