Morning ladies! I'm in the "off to a colonoscopy" group so ladies have a good day. For those of you not yet 50, your turn will come soon. At least it is warm, sunny day and I'll get to eat food soon! Have a great one ladies!

Judi - The prep is always worse than the procedure. Hoping for good results and that you'll enjoy an excellent dinner afterwards.

Hi MinusTwo and April .... thanks for the good wishes on my procedure today. Things went well .... had 3 polyps removed and will call back in 10 days for the results. Also informed I have diverticulosis which happens as we age. I honestly have to look this one up but was given a prescription for it. Will look into seeing if I can avoid the meds and do it naturally!

Thanks MinusTwo. I looked it up and have lots of questions. More importantly, I reread the pamphlet that is inserted in my medication box. One of the side effete of Letrozole is that 1 to 10 in every 100 patients had constipation. So, my question is "am I one of those 1 to 10 patient? Now I have to book another appointment with the family doctor. I'm getting so tired of this but I need to be on top of it so problems so occur down the road!

I know what you mean Judi...some of the side effects of these powerful drugs are just awful. I have a few of them myself and they are very disturbing. I have SEVERE joint and bone pain from the exemestane as well as bloating, high blood pressure (and we know this is from the drug as when I took 5 weeks off, my blood pressure was normal!!) for which I take another stupid medication that makes me pee every 10 minutes PLUS, brain fog that really hinders me in my work. BUT, I am too afraid not to take the drug...ugh!

As for diverticulosis, just be careful what you eat...no seeds etc. Look up the special diet for this. Can be painful but livable my friend who has this says.

Hi April, thanks for the info. I've booked an appointment with the doctor today. I also spoke with the pharmacist and she recommended Metamucil .... helps and lowers cholesterol. Maybe I can beat 2 of these. I found that exercising took away my joint and bone pain while on Letrozole. When I stopped exercising it started to come back. Even walking helps. I feel bad for you as you still have more time then me to go on the drug. Yikes, what's a girl supposed to do!

Judi: Glad April was able to add he thoughts. Sounds like there are mixed opinions about fiber. Ironically I had the Big D through out 18 months of BC treatment. Since then I tend to get blocked up. I take Colace several times a week as docs said it isn't habit forming and doesn't cause any other interactions. Also eating 3 prunes every day. If it's not one thing, it's the other. Let us know what your PCP says.

BTW - there's a really good constipation thread on these boards since so many of the meds cause that problem.

Hey MinusTwo, thanks for the info. I didn't know that there was this thread on the Boards but I'll definitely check it out. I never heard of Colace - what is it? But I definitely have prunes in the fridge so I'll start eating them. Funny story - I only can't go to the washroom when I travel so when I was out west, I wasn't going. So I bought these prunes from Costco and they were really good. I ate quite a few and my sister and I were then off to pick up her granddaughter. I had the shits so bad that I could hardly make it home. We were in Subway Sandwich and I just kept going in and out. I said I would never eat another one again but I broke down and bought another bag. So I only had a few but I guess I'll be into them again. It's figuring out how many to have without diarrhea!

Judi: Below is the link for the constipation thread. Lots of good info if you end up needing it. My BS recommended Colace when I had my first surgery since pain meds usually cause constipation. It is an over-the-counter stool softener. I get the original one w/o any laxative, since that would have limitations on how long you could take it. Love your story. I too am trying to figure out how many prunes for how many days. Always a balancing act. I'm convinced that the juniper berries in Gin kept me regular for most of my life but I quit drinking gin while I was quitting smoking and never really got back in the habit.

OK the rest of you... we got sort of side tracked but you'll never be bored here. Hope you're all well. Who knew that smoking habits change drinking habits change body habits!!!

Thanks MinusTwo for the link. I've checked it out and have added to my favourites. Hoping that I become unblocked. You know that two go hand in hand. When I smoked, I never had constipation before. But I also didn't have cancer. Yup, a cup of coffee and a smoke in the morning kept you regular!

Isn't it amazing all the wonderful things smoking can do for you.

OK, OK - now all of you who are still working up to quitting can just ignore that comment.

LisaMarie - Wow, what a wonderful garden. Call me when it's salad time - LOL.

April - is work slowing down?

    Beckers - thinking of you.

VJ - hope the relationship is still growing.

Hi to everyone else. Just for today I will not smoke.

MinusTwo--Boyfriend is still around, going on 15 months now and I have no doubt he will be around for a long time. He is really a great guy. We have talked about marriage and he said he wanted to wait until he sold his company and he is working hard now to do that. He just finished creating a new machine for the car industry and this has generated a lot of interest, so (fingers crossed) maybe soon. thanks for asking, I waited a long time for the right guy but I really got a gem.

I have always found that plain old magnesium oxide pills work the best for regularity. It's the main ingredient in milk of magnesia but cheaper. Main side effect is diarrhea. I start with two pills a day and keep increasing by one pill a day until I need to back off by one.

I'm so excited, my book is now available through Amazon in print (not looking to promote it for sales because anyone on this list can get a free PDF copy-just PM me your email address). It has changed so much throughout the years and I'm really proud of the final result. I self-published it, and Amazon has a great program where you can ship the books to them and they fulfill the orders, so I don't have to hassle with it. I have two more books I'm working on now--one on e-cigarettes and one for healthcare providers on what they need to know to effectively work with smokers.

Bosum - GREAT to hear from you & good for you. What a riot about the R&R guy w/the dogs. Hell no, don't bother mentioning BC on the posts. In fact I wouldn't discuss it with anyone unless the relationship goes far enough to move towards 'clothes optional'. In this day and age, does that mean one date or two? LOL. So glad to have the wisdom of those of you who are younger. Anyway, down the road a ways & I for sure wouldn't post it. Have fun.

Funny thought - wouldn't it be fun to gather together for a few drinks and to giggle & drool about the pictures like we did w/guys when we were young. We could help you choose!! More LOL.

Bosum, so glad to hear of your affairs (so to speak). Anyways, I agree with MT, don't mentioned the "C" word because a) they are new to you, b) they wouldn't understand, and c) when it gets a little more serious then you can casually mention it. In fact, I have a defective boob (nipple inverted and the surgeon swore it would come out over time) and my dh, every so often, gets the bbq tongs out and says he'll take care of it. At first it really bothered me and when I first saw the oncologist, I said that I was getting it fixed. Now, I actually forget about it until I'm putting my cream on or dh is being funny. You know, in the long run there is more to worry about in life. Just go out and enjoy yourself. Hey if you go dutch then you don't owe them anything. If he offers to pay that's because he is a gentlemen. Just make sure you have enough money to pay and if you don't like him, excuse yourself and go out the bathroom window!

Oh yes - memories of Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffanys.

I went to listen to author John LesCroart speak this afternoon and then to dinner with a friend who is ... a smoker. She didn't smoke in my car and you can't smoke in restaurants anymore, but it felt funny to be hanging outside the bookstore & the restaurant while she enjoyed her smokes. It smelled good to me but I didn't really want one. Continued progress - at least for today I didn't smoke again.

Oh we MT we remember those days, don't we. I haven't had the pleasure of hanging outside but I do enjoy walking by the smell and get a whiff. Though in the winter it is a smell that is not enjoyable. Are you o.k.? I hear on the news of the tornados wreaking havoc. I just can't imagine this!Singing

Judi - I'm fine. Thanks for asking. Houston is down on the gulf coast - four+ hours south of Dallas/Ft. Worth. We're a totally different climate - lots of hot & humid. We do occasionally get tornadoes but we're more likely to have hurricanes.

April - How interesting that you met your DH on line. Were you in the same general location or did you have to travel to actually meet physically? How funny that I accepted dates from guys in bars but would have been scared to go out with someone online. Different times.
