LisaMarie - I too am sorry about the sore throat. Yuck. But it's great that you have a job interview already. Good luck tomorrow.

Lisamarie, good luck today! I know that you will stay strong and come out of this nightmare slowly but surely. You are a survivor.
Bosum, I know exactly the struggle. The crutch was always that cigarette in stress and I have had a lot of that in my life for sure. I feel like singing a chorus of that old prison song..."nobody knows the trouble I've seen..." LOL You can do this girl! I am rooting for you!
Hey Judi, those are all great! I kept looking for the thumbs up button like on facebook to "like" the posts...LOL
SVG, great job!! Amazing actually. This stuff is HARD and so a million thumbs up for you!
Minus, you too have had a lot of loss lately and I am so sorry that you are going through this but you are always here for everyone else. I am sorry your friend is still struggling with the death of her husband. I hope that she can turn a corner. I know this pain. I have had enough of it lately and so have we all pretty much. I am realizing more and more that this is truly a part of life I did not think about much until I started losing so many people.
My friend's funeral was unreal...on so many levels. First of all, the crowds were just staggering. I think his son said they went through 3 or 4 guest books at the funeral home. Dominic was very beloved to many people. We used to call him the "unofficial mayor" of New Haven...lol. Hundreds and hundreds of people came to pay respects. His 3 sons were blown away. He was such a good person which is why this hit me so hard. Always willing to lend a hand to ANYONE who needed it. In this instance, with ALS, I do know this was a blessing for him as he had an extremely aggressive form of the disease. I just can't believe he is gone.

I am still under weather .. and yo know who is busy begging me back .. then cursing me out then sorry and begging me back .. I'd be an asshole excuse my language to turn back now .. I just cannot do it anymore ..
Having fun with the granddaughter .. and my pregnant daughter due next month .. just doing the ME thing now and the Grandma thing .. Not thinking about Dating any time soon ... besides I think It was hard enough for me to date the last one .. as I cant even bare looking at my scars ... ho hum .. I need time to heal .. xooxoxxo

Hi all!
I am new to this board and decided to check in. I smoked a pack a day for 30 years. I am now 54. My husband had a heart attack in July 2015 So I had to quit smoking or spend all my time freezing my butt off smoking outside in the cold of winter. I quit in September 2015. I never thought I could do it but I managed by switching to e-cig. Everything was working out well until 11/17/2015 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
As I started down this new diagnostic road I was grateful I had already quit smoking. Once I started seeing surgeon's I soon realized I had a way to go. My PS said no nicotine because it constructs blood vessels and impedes healing. I frantically got online and started ordering 0% nicotine liquid for my BE Express kit and 0% nicotne cartridges for my Blu. None of these fast the same, but it resembles smoking enough for me to stick with it. Ive found I don't miss the nicotine so much but I can continue to enjoy the rituals of smoking without worrying about my health.
My surgeon is very pleased and I am 23 days post op without any complications. Has anyone else here gone the 0% nicotine e-cig way like I have? I honestly don't know how I would have handled all the stress of the diagnosis and treatment without the crutch of my e-cig. First it was 5 months of worrying about my husband (heart attack, open heart surgery then a stroke) and his recovery.....then my diagnosis with bilateral mastectomy done exactly one month later (everything moved really fast for me).
Dealing with everything that comes with the diagnosis of BC, I really can't imagine you all's struggle to quit smoking on top of it all. I am in awe you guys are doing it. I am a nonsmoker now but I can't imagine my life without being able to vape on my e-cig.
So, anyone else going the fake cigarette way like I am?

AnnieKay - welcome. wow, you did have quite a year. Great that you found something that work for you - the e smoke. I think April did e-smokes. If I'm reading your data correctly, you have a TE exchange in your future. Don't let them fill you so fast that it hurts. I kept it down to 50ccs each time.
LisaMarie - Yay, Yay, Yay !!! Sounds like you've finally wiped your hands of that insufferable AH. And several other words that I won't use that I still think are appropriate. Can you block him from calling/texting your phone? Or just not answer his calls? You're physically far enough away that he can't retaliate. Just don't talk to him for awhile. Sorry the cold is hanging on. Keep pushing on the job front.
Bosum - so was the job interview good or bad? I laughed about the blond chin hair. I have 3 or 4 that have come in black. I do need to schedule electrolysis soon, but I keep plucking (when I can see them). I know that's a no-no, but... Eeek.
April - love your long post. What a nice tribute to your friend that so many people were at the funeral.
Judi - so how do you like being back in the snow country? LOL. January is our worst month. But that's relative. I'm excited that the last two nights didn't get below 36 and tonight's back up to 40. Whew. Still hoping for a travel log when you get time.

Welcome AnnieKay ... wow you have been through enough but are strong enough not to go back on the ciggies. Good for you! I haven't experienced the mastectomy route so I have no answers for you but others will chime in. April, wow on your friend's funeral. I'm like Bosum, who would come. I've decided to go the "no funeral route" as I'm cheap on that but if I was as well liked and though of as your friend, I would go all out. MT, hoping you spirits are up. To you and Bosum, I have a tan on my face and I saw three hairs. Electrolysis it is on Friday but I'm thinking of getting a laser opinion. MT, I HATE WINTER. Yesterday, we had a "storm weather warning" and starting snowing yesterday afternoon with squalls today and some white-out conditions when driving. To boot, my rear wiper not working on my rear window - can't see squat. Oh boy, another 4 months of this. Yay!

LisaMarie - hope the cold breaks loose soon. Once you're feeling better it should be easier to do your job searching. I'm dragging my feet on Windows 10. My son keeps telling me to move forward, but I'm happy as a clam with Windows 7 so I'm sticking. Good luck getting those computer issues resolved. Sorry about the house full of smokers but glad you're holding firm. Hey, I didn't smoke today either!!!

Hi ladies. Just an FYI on the computer front....... My husband works with computers and computer networks and has for years so he is my own personal computer geek/expert.
lisamarie you can try going back to a restore point before you upgraded and it might take you back to your original operating system. Also do a Google search about getting rid of the Windows 10 and go to a Microsoft only site; there you should find reliable information on how to get rid of it. At work they had my husband test out Windows 10 Just as they do any newer operating system, and he hated it. New OS a always have a few bugs that need fixing and they don't upgrade until they feel the bulk of them are fixed. My husband works for the county school district and if upgraded go wrong school districts all over the county start crashing and causing major problems.
So that was my 2 cents for what it's worth..... Good luck!

Thanks for being so helpful Anniekay80! I was going to upgrade to 10 and was hesitating. Now I will wait for sure!
Lisamarie, hope you feel better honey. As for living with smokers, that is tough but my hubby still smoked for 7 months after I quit and I still stayed with it. I know you will too!!
Ok, at work and have to run. I did NOT win powerball last night so here I sit...working my fingers to the bone...LOL

Ha, ha April or the others, unless you are the skate boarder who shared in the "win" then I know it's not you. Too bad, it would have been nice!

April - I didn't win either. However I've never bought a ticket so it's pretty hard to be a contender.
AnnieKay - Thanks. I too am continuing to delay the installation. I think MS will support Windows 7 & 8 through 2020 if I remember correctly.
Had lunch today with an old friend who still smokes. I took her the wonderful hand-made pottery, wind proof, signed ashtray I got in St. Martin in 1994on the trip w/my BFF & smoking buddy who worked at a hospital w/this lady. They always included me in their "smoking club" lunches & dinners. Maurine died in 2005 so I knew this lady would enjoy using the ash tray. But I'll miss looking at it on my shelfSat on a bench by a fountain after lunch & visited through three cigarettes. Don't panic - her not me. Sure smelled good, but just for today I did not smoke.

AnnieK how can you restart the old operating system ? I dont know much about this .. anyway thanks for the info .
Still depressed .

LisaMarie, don't be depressed. You have too much going for you. Sometimes it's a slow start but you'll get there.

LisaMarie - I know it's winter, but I'm sending imaginary flowers!!! Let me know which are your favorites after you take some time to smell them.

I will talk to my husband tonight after work and see if he can find the perfect step by step web page to help you. I'm in pain today and a little muzzy headed so I don't think I can explain it clearly. But just to get you started....search computer for "restore" MS has a restore to previous settings area that can undo some of the things we install or change on our computers that we end up not liking.
I'll try to get back to you tonight on this.

Yeah Bosum - how are you? We miss you!

LisaMarie, you answered your own question. If you are around four smokers and "feel as if you are going to die from it all" then you are stronger then you think. As my dh says "if if's and but's were candy and nuts, then everyday would be Christmas". Those around you are so right and you have just left a cruel and difficult world. It will all come together and you will wonder why it all happened but trust me, everything happens for a reason. I don't know what or why, it just does. But I do know how you are feeling. My shower faucets don't turn on well and/or leak and I hate showering knowing that I may just need a plumber sooner then I think. I know it's not the same but life just throws us curves. As my big sis says "some things aren't just worth the squeeze" and for me, this is one of them. For you, enjoy your family, regroup and think what's best for LISAMARIE!
