RHW, welcome to the squishy side! Now rest up and heal!
Good luck tomorrow, Goldie! Report back when you can.
Kari, that's wonderful that you got your exchange date! I'll bet you're really excited!
Kaos, don't overdo things! Hope you can get some rest tomorrow.
DPiggy, I'll be doing the lat flap next year. I didn't know the pockets had to mold to the implants. I love hearing success stories like your's.
AnotherNYCgirl, thank you for the encouragement. It's so helpful to hear of someone who's living life well after a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Hugs to everyone!

Red, itching isn't good. Sounds like you are having a reaction to some medication. I've heard of this happening to others. Best to call your doctor.

So excited to see all these posts by newly squishy ladies!!! I am so envious. Thankfully I am feeling really good since my most recent surgery (two weeks ago) but those 6 weeks of misery after my BMX were…well…miserable! I'm looking forward to the day I can JUST BE DONE!
And then what? What do we do for check ups now that we have minimal breast tissue and implants? Do they do MRI's instead? PET scan? What? My exchange surgery will be right around my 1 year cancerversary.

I also had the same fill and implant size of 425cc but feel my implants are much smaller than the TE's so wondering if I should have gone bigger. Right now I'm a B and hoped I would be a C. I'm 5'4 127 lbs. Your thoughts would be helpful. I will see my ps tomorrow. Also anyone have stitches high on their chest from exchange and what is it?

My ps expanded me to 450cc and I told him I wanted to be a C and I ended up with 425cc Natrelle implants. I am a B and wish he had gone bigger. Four days on the squishy side. I am 5'4 127 lbs. Any insight would really help.

Gindugirl I know what you mean after my exchange I looked in the mirror and just cried. I miss my old self inside and out and am very depressed. How long did this take to pass and how did you work through it. I think also my expectations were too high for the reconstruction. I came out of surgery smaller than the te's and not sure how to handle this.

sandgar: I just came from a fill and asked my PS about exchange size etc. because it all just seems so far away to me and I don't like not knowing things! I have 600 TE's in. Before BMX I was a 44C. I am very broad shouldered and large boned. (I'm also about 50 lbs overweight.) To get to that size again my PS really wants me to get to 600 on the TE's. (whippetmom was right, of course.)
Last week was my first fill with my new TE's (Had them replaced two weeks ago) I did a 50cc fill and didn't feel a thing. This morning I did a 75 and its tight, but not a problem. We'll see how much it bothers me tonight. Unfortunately she also pulled 50cc off a seroma on my right side, and about 40cc off the left. My body just liked to make all this dang fluid!!! She said as long as she can keep aspirating it with the a needle she won't need to put a drain in. GAWD how I loathe the drains!!! Anyway, if I can handle the 75cc fills, then I should be done by Christmas, and then the rest for two months before I can have my exchange surgery….so end of February. I was hoping for mid January but I guess that was a bit too ambitious. End of Feb is my cancerversary. Moving to the squishy side will be a good way to celebrate, right?

Noon, I asked the same thing recently. What now? Since I'm still in "repair mode" I hadn't seen my breast surgeon since the BMX, just my PS. I stopped by the breast care clinic and asked. Somebody had dropped the ball and I should have been seen at 6 months and it was 12 months. I saw my breast surgeon and had an exam where he felt around all the "edges" of incisions and where lymph nodes are located all over my upper body. He said to come see him every 6 months. If he feels anything he will send me for an MRI, but otherwise there is no regular blood work or test to do. He briefed me on what to look for once I was healed from the final plastic surgery and how a recurrence would present itself if it dared raise its ugly head again. It was comforting to have information. I saw the oncologist at 2 months, 6 months, and 12 months but she said since my anemia has reversed, only come back yearly now to get the results of yearly blood tests. I'm not on any hormone therapy like Tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors.

I see my surgeon for my 6 month exam on Monday...she has said it will be just like what Sandra described. But I am wondering, I had ILCand since it is more of a linear growth than a mass how will just feeling around on the breast area be enough? Not one Dr who tried, and a lot tried, could feel my cancer and my surgeon reminded me how "sneaky" lobular is and how it is harder to detect. So, back to my question...how will feeling around be enough?? I've seen my oncologist since surgery and he does about the same thing.

sandgar - my exchange was 2 weeks ago, & no incisions/stiches on my chest. My PS used same incisions under my breasts to remove TE's & exchange w/ implants.

Mischief, the oncologist explained it to me this way. Lobular cancer has to have lobules to grow in, just like ductal has to have ducts. We don't have those anymore because we had both breasts removed. The cancer has to start there. Since I no longer have lobules and ducts, those types of cancer can't regrow. There are other types of breast cancer that I can get however. Lobular is more worrisome than ductal because it is a marker for another type of breast cancer to occur. (Sure enough I had a lot of lobular on one side and a smaller but aggressive ductal tumor on the other side.) No matter how good and how thorough a breast surgeon is, some breast tissue cells can be left behind and that tissue is usually at the edges where the incisions were. If I am going to develop some other type of breast cancer, it is likely to occur along the incision lines. Since my cancer was not invasive and my nodes were clear, I don't have to have radiation or chemo. My recurrence chances are 1% - 2% so I don't have to have Tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors either. The doctor will check in the future along my the incision areas and the remaining lymph nodes to feel for any bumps or irregularities
Applying that to your similar situation, your lobular cancer was 1a so it had expanded just a little bit beyond the lobules but your doctors believe all of it was removed during the operation. Your nodes were clear so it hadn't gotten that far. Your chances of getting breast cancer again are low but it could happen because of some stray cancer cells that could still be there and because of any tiny remaining breast tissue. The oncologist will calculate your chances, perhaps order an oncotype test, and decide if you would benefit by additional treatment.

Sandra, I found a lump located at about the 11 o'clock area near the top of my implant towards my armpit. I discovered this last Thursday, made a call to my BS office on Friday, and they are so busy they have yet to call me to schedule me to come in. I am calling first thing this morning when they open, this is ridiculous. Yes, I am freaking out a bit, it is a definite lump. I did have fat grafting done, and I can feel along the implant at the top and feel the lumps and bumps, but this one particular lump/bump is very defined, so yes, I am freaking out. Just when ya think you are done with this, at least for a little while to take a breather . . . here we go again. Will have to get it checked out and play the waiting game again.

Frostecat - sending positive thoughts your way. I usually don't make comments about physicians, we all have different experiences, different personalities, & what works for one may not work for the other. But I have to say, I'm very taken back by the fact that your BS or someone from that office did not return your call. Given our histories, we are all high risk, & our concerns should be addressed immediately. Best of luck & please keep us posted.

Thanks Sandra, that makes perfect sense!
Frostecat, That is crazy, I hope you can get in today or tommorrow!

I think I would just show up at the office, if i could not get through, and let them work me in. It is too important for them to be ignoring you.

Frostecat, just wanted to give you a virtual ((hug)).

Off to see the Dr shortly to see how things are progressing and hopefully loose my friends (drains)! Poor truck had to get warmed up it is -25C/-13F brrrrr; the wind is making it even colder. I envy those of you in the warmer parts of the world!

Drain free!!!
I feel SO much better now, now just to finish healing up and back to my new normal on the squishy side.

i had my last drain pulled today. ps said it can take a few months for the implant to drop into place. i was so happy to get rid of the drains, but now my boobs feel very tight and my back has decided to go out. i think it has something to do with the weather getting cooler. i just can't get warm even with the heater and wood stove going. i am bundled up like crazy. i took two advil and a nerve pill for pain since i am allergic to the heavy narcotic types of pills. i see the ps again in four weeks.

Yay for getting your drains pulled! Isn't that the best feeling?
0 -
yes, it sure is. but now the implant is making a funny squeaky noise, lol. i guess the air, etc. has to make its way out (i was a uni mast with other side reduced).

scary and kaos, Yay for no more drains! Now please remember not to over do!
Frostecat, hugs. That is a scary situation. I was in that once. Had a lump appear quickly to about the size of a small egg that the onc caught. I never even felt it. It was a fat filled node. In other words a dead node that let at infiltrate it. Nothing to worry about. Removed during my last TE placement. Many any people n here have D scores and it was scar tissue . Try to hang in there we'll e praying .

I am 48 hours out from fat grafting. Very little pain. I am surprised. I love the results. My muffin top is gone and I can no longer see the edges or bumps in my implants. I still have moderate bruising and swelling but little discomfort. I am pleased with the results
