    Hey All,

I am three days out from my exchange and feeling pretty good.  The pain I have is from the liposuction.  I got a chance to peak at the new girls this past Wednesday and was very pleased.  I am still swollen but, things look real good.  I have been experiencing a bloody nose for the past two days.  Not sure if its weather related (in the Pacific NW and its cold) or what.  I am still itching a bit but, was given medication for that.

I'm suppose to keep my stomach area wrapped tight!  Not fully sure why.  I was given a wrap upon leaving the hospital this past Tuesday.  I was told to switch to spanx since im short wasted.  The spanx keep rolling down so I've given up on that.  Also, I have drains which were placed on the sides of my stomach so I cant pull the spanx up to far.  My DM just washed the wrap so, I will wear that for the next few days.

I'm just taking it day by day but doing well.

Olaf, I also had the same size te's and implants after exchange last week and wondered what size bra that put you in.

My exchange surgery went well this morning. I was in surgery for two hours. I was exchanged from my Allergan 133-MV-16-TEs that were filled to the recommended 700 cc to the Allergan Natrelle 410FF 655g anatomically shaped silicone-filled implants. My surgery was at 7:30 a.m. and we left the hospital before noon. Because it is roughly a two-hour drive to the hospital from our home, my husband and I stayed at a hotel directly across from the hospital, which was a wise decision seeing that I had to report to the hospital at 5:30 a.m. It was pretty cold walking over to the hospital at 5 a.m. this morning in Pittsburgh! The hospitals we have stayed at during this bc journey have all given us a medical rate, which has been greatly appreciated. If you ever need to do the same, ask if they offer a reduced rate when you make your reservation.

I woke up in some pain, but it was quickly resolved via IV and oral meds. I came home in a surgical bra stuffed with gauze. My PS had to do some pocket, and I can feel it. I am taking Hydrocodone as needed. I was told not to take Advil. I was also instructed not to shower until Sunday (in two days), and I will be able to permanently remove the gauze at that time unless needed. I am to continue to wear the surgical bra until my two-week post op appointment. All in all, the implants feel much better than the TEs . It may be my imagination, but the implants feel lighter than the TEs. I also do not feel the presence of excess tissue under my arms; and although I know it is still early, I am not having the muscle spasms I had with the TEs. I guess I will not truly be able to tell how the implants feel until I am off the pain meds the the swelling goes down in the weeks ahead.

Day 11 post exchange to the squishy side (drains pulled on day 8), feeling great no pain but body does tell me when to ease up. Getting excited to head back to work Monday ... I am a P.E. teacher Gr 1 - 12. Doctor gave me the *squint eye* when I suggested a "Welcome Back Dodgeball Tournament"! Sigh - guess I will just have to settle with watching for a while yet!

I hope everyone is feeling well - enjoy the weekend!

    kaos, naughty naughty! Dodgeball.

Vfay, dis the P'S take out the mudflaps during sx? Maybe that's why you don't feel them. Heal fast!

I found sanitary napkins to be helpful for drainage leaks until the hole plugs up.

All on the squishie side, remember not to do too much.

    Much love

I also go in this Friday. Switch out the right implant for a larger size to match the left. All along the right has been bigger sizes because more scooped out during cancer surgery, so not sure why ps put in same size implants in May. Anyway, will put in the larger one and finish lipo on the left of what is left after May. I have to say that seeing the difference in the drop and fluff over the 6 months is a big difference. I thought after 3 months or so I could see where theyd be but for me, they have kept shaping. It is soooo hard, but try to be patient all, when looking at them. It takes a long time to see the final results...

I haven't been here for awhile but see the difference in recommendations/approaches by Plastic Surgeons remains the same! I had no drains and did not have to wear a surgical bra after my exchange. I was also allowed to shower within 24 hours. I really don't understand why everyone is given such differing instructions/treatment but it makes me super thankful for how my exchange process went down. I also never had the drop and fluff thing occur - mine look the same today as 7 months ago when I had surgery. I asked my PS why I didn't have the drop and fluff experience I always hear about and he told me it was because I have high impact implants. I am not sure if others with high impact implants had the same experience as I did but I am very pleased with the results.

Best of luck to all you ladies who just had your exchanges and/or have them set for the near future. If I have learned anything here it is that you can try to plan or expect things but everyone is different so just go in with a positive attitude and hope for the best.

    Happy

hipz--I have never heard the term "high impact implants."  Does this mean that they would not rupture in a car crash???  I find this kind of funny--sorry for my twisted sense of humor.  Possibly, you have high "profile" implants?  SillyHeart

I too dont understand the variety of instructions. But Im grateful my ps is one of the more relaxed instructions ones. ASide from no showering til drains were out, once the surgery wrap is off in 2-3 days I havent needed a bra, spanx, or support of any type. He would support (ha!) my choice if I wanted to wear a bra, but I dont and he doesnt seem to care. My implants are pretty small tho (285, 320) so big droop shouldnt be an issue.

Hello again ladies!! Thank you all so much for answering my questions! I've written down the types of bras you've all suggested. My exchange surgery is tomorrow and I am soooo nervous!! I will be getting Allergen Style 45 round high profile. My PS, Dr. Lesley Wong at UK, is wonderful about returning my emails when I have any questions. I developed "wrist drop" in my left hand. The entire top of my hand, thumb, the the tips of my fingers are completely numb. She is sending me to a neurologist for this.

This is her reply to my question about the implant:

"Yes, soft round silicone "cohesive" gel implants. They are Allergan style 45 if you want to google them. I will do my best to keep the implants from being too far under your arms and also to smooth out that roll. Sometimes fat grafting later can help if there are any wrinkles in the skin and to fill out any grooves around those rolls. The implants are definitely softer than the expanders."

Has anyone ever had Allergen style 45 implants? What's been your experience with them if so?

Thanks so much for all your help ladies!!!! You gals are a Godsend!!

My BS had a cancellation and was able to see me this morning. She not only felt but saw the lump that I had found. I asked if she would be able to tell from the ultrasound what it is, and she said she can get a pretty good idea, and if it appeared to be a solid mass she wouldn't hesitate to put a needle in it right then and there. She used the ultrasound and said it appeared to be fat necrosis - whew!

But I'm not out of the woods yet, she asked me to come back in one month to take a look at it again. She explained that when you have fat grafting done, that once the blood supply is starting to cut off from the fat it can snap into the shape of a ball which is what appears to have happened. She told me after it "dies" it liquifies and looks like butter when removed.

She said I did the right thing by coming in to have it checked out.

I have a weight lifted off my shoulders, for now, then she also handed me my orders for a mammogram ... arghh!

Just wanted to give you all the heads up in case you should experience this after exchange/fat grafting.

    Hi Ladies.

I had implants at one time, but unfortunately they didn't work out for me. I went on to have a diep, and am still in the process of the finishing touches.

I have a question. When I first had my bmx there was a strange sensation behind my breast bone when I had a cold, or cool drink. I could feel it going down, like a thermos with no insulation. The sensation has gone away. I don't know when. What I am trying to figure out is if it went away after diep since I now have fat insulation again, or did it just go away on it's own over time. I came here because there are a lot of you with implants, and I was wondering if you still have that sensation long after reconstruction is done?

Frostecat--so happy to hear this good news.  On the bright side, you should feel little discomfort with the mammogram since the breast tissue has been removed.  I had one not long ago on one breast/armpit so that the docs could keep an eye on an enlarged benign lymph node which was biopsied and a biopsy clip was inserted.

Previous to the lymph node biopsy in September, my BS has told me to schedule a breast MRI which is coming up next month to "check the integrity of the implants."  I hope that is less painful too now that the breast tissue has been removed.

Question for those of you who had revisions from silicone rounds to 410 anatomicals:  Do they FEEL any different to you--not necessarily what you feel with your hands but how they feel on your body?  PS is recommending a revision from silicone rounds to 410's.

Bethq, I had my exchange in June and after 1 week was told no bra was required. I've just been wearing a midriff type tank with soft cup liners in, with a 2 inch stretch lace on the bottom....found them at Wal-Mart for $5.99. I have not had any side migration. These tank bras don't really have any support or separation to them.....I just started wearing these because I couldn't find s support bra or any other bra that didn't aggravate my internal stitch line of my pectorals. So, it seems there must be something going on with your implants? Maybe you might want to check on with your PS?? Good luck.

I am confused I thought after having MX and having implants that you no longer should have a mammorgram as it could rupture the implants. Since my bmx in May 2013 I have seen my BS for 3 followups which were breast exam but no other tests and I go back in another 6 months. He stated no need for anything unless we "feel" something

LoriWNY I was one that switched from rounds to 410's and yes they do feel a little different but I prefer them over the rounds, I had a lot of ripples with the rounds and when laying down they just disappeared to the sides like my old saggy boobs did and the indents in my chest where extremely noticeable. They have a very natural shape and I like the cleavage I have

cateyz2, I was also told no more mammo, just MRI every 3-5 years to check integrity of implants. No blood tests either. Just if something shows up before that then they would check them out.
