mom3 - I wouldn't get so caught up on the letter of the cup size.  I am a 34D, but I don't look bigger than a C, maybe even a B in some clothes.  Also, the smaller the band size, the bigger the cup size... so a 32D is the same cup size as a 34C, 36B, 38A.  I'm sure you look great!  :)

Marie - congrats on your exchange surgery.  Yeah for you!!!

Thanks everyone for the ideas about my friend's funeral.  I was going to get a restaurant GC, but then I got really sick with food poisoning and couldn't leave the house.  I ended up ordering a plant with white flowers from a local florist.  Hopefully it looks nice.  I have a friend who is going that will check to make sure the plant makes it.  I went onto her Caring Bridge site after ordering the plant/flowers and saw she has a donation site.  I'm still contemplating sending a card with a GC or donating to the site.

I keep forgetting to tell you all that I finished rads with no major issues to my silicone implants.  My rads side does look a bit smaller, but I think it's from the surgeries it endured last year.   My onco asked me what size cup I was and I said a D, but maybe a C+ on the right. The right side is a little tanner.  LOL!  I'm going to follow up with my PS, but have to focus on my not so fun hysterectomy coming up in a couple months.  :(

Kitty cat, I had the hysterectomy too and it wasn't too bad. Had it on Wednesday and I could have worked Monday (I didn't bc I had insurance that pays me for time off) . If you can do it laproscopically I would recommend it. Also, wear some loose pants bc your stomach will be bloated from the gas but it passes in a few days.

    Good luck,

    Karyn

Thanks all.  I am thinking of going for the revision work I need in the fall.  I hate that I have to wait because of $.  Our deductable starts all over again.  We had my exchange done before the new year began so it would be covered!  We are still paying off the deductable from last year!  I hate cancer.  I really hate that revision work is almost a given and yet we are charged for it.

Deborah, I did not post any pictures yet but I plan to maybe tonight.. The left side looks great! There is a lot of upper pole fullness and I love it. The right side is a just a tad bit lower and not so full on the top but still 90% better than it was. This plastic surgeon did a fabulous job. She told me before the surgery that she was going to do what she could but did not guarantee that she wouldn't need to do another surgery...She is quite the perfectionist... I really like her.. Honestly I could live with the way they are right now but I know there are going to be a lot of changes in the next few months.. I am in no rush. Time tells all. I am just glad that this PS does do lipo and fat-grafting. My last plastic surgeon acted like he never heard of such a thing for breast reconstruction...

Password to picture forum: I can't find where I was given access to the forum or what I did with the password. I got it a few months ago, but then I was in the hospital, etc., etc., and never accessed it much. Now, I'm on board for my exchange at the end of March and I'd like to see some pics of others. I'm trying to decide what to do about  nipples and about what type implants I want. I emailed TimTam, but haven't received an answer. Do ya'll know who else I might can contact about this? Thanks.

    Hi All!

I was getting along just fine and then today I hit a wall - I'm so tired and this drain is killing me!  Every time I move I feel the stitches pinching me.

I'm being good to stay on top of my antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.  The PS told me that he poured anti-inflammatory around the implant before he closed me up - no wonder I felt so good and had so much drainage!

I'm still trying to do my exercises so I don't have a repeat of last time - burning/ripping pain from the nerves - and I feel like I've got pretty good mobility for this stage of recovery.

I did post my photos on the picture forum and will post more once I get the drain out.

One obvious difference is the projection but being that the implant is under the muscle and the native side was lifted/reduced it's to be expected.  My PS did warn me about that.

I hope that with time the swelling will come down around the native side and around the implant where he did some lipo and it won't be so noticeable in clothes.

Who knew the lipo hurt so much afterwards?  I had no idea!

Is there "drop and fluff" with implant replacement?  I am scheduled to have implant replacement and want to know if what I wake up with will be mine to keep or if I will need to wait for things to drop and fluff again.  I would appreciate any advice from those who have been through revision.

Also, if anyone can share their experience with saline to silicone I would appreciate it.  Is silicone heavier or lighter, more comfortable or not, look better?

Marie:  I would not do any excercises for 2-6 weeks.  You want to heal first!

flacracker:  Congratulations!  I am going in to have mine done on the 22nd!  May I ask what procedure(s) you did?

4Darla:  Although I cannot answer most of your questions, I can say that with reconstruction, silicone looks beter then saline and feels more like natural breasts.  I don't now that they would be heavier, as it is all liquid!  From what I understand, you should have less rippling with silicone.  Is your PS planning to do any fat grafting?  This also helps with rippling.  I would think that there is always drop and fluff, since it's really our muscles finally relaxing enough so that the implant drops into place.  Best of luck to you with your revision!

Hi all, sounds like everyone is getting along just great!

Laura, hon, I had rads and recon...I have not done any fat grafting but is there anything I can help you with re: this?  I had necrosis, patching up of recon, but I'd like to look into fat grafting too, if only for the wrinkles on my face that have developed courtesty of BC.

    love to all

    4Darla:

Saline does weigh less than silicone but, there is not a significant weight difference? One cc of silicone gel weighs 0.0375 ounces. For example, a 400cc silicone gel implant would then weigh 15 ozs. (0.94 lbs) and a pair would weigh 30 ozs. or 1.875 pounds. Conversely, a cc of saline weighs 0.0325 ozs. A 400cc saline implant would then weigh 13 ounces (0.81 lbs.) and a pair would weigh 26 ounces or 1.62 lbs. The difference at 400cc would be around 0.2 pounds or about 3 ozs.

Seafoobs:  Thanks for that!  I obvously know nothing about weight and measures!!!  Maybe this is part of the reason why silicone has better results?

    MBJ:

It doesn't have to do with weight, it has to do with viscosity.  Viscosity is the quantity that describes a fluid's resistance to flow.  The less viscous the fluid is, the easier it is to move.  Maple syrup compared to honey.  So, saline moves easily, the silicone takes more pressure.  It seems the gummies may be proving to be too viscous (firm).

MBJ thanks for the warning and I shouldn't have said "arm exercises" in my earlier post.

I'm not really exercising as much as I am moving my arm around so it doesn't get stiff.  The last time I had surgery - TE in Sept 09 - I did the "broken wing" thing and ended up with all kinds of trouble.  This time round I'm making sure to straighten my back and pull my shoulders back as well as gently move my arm around.

Marie -- you are right to do those movements.  Arm circles, flap arms like chicken wings, shoulder rolls... these all keep the shoulder from getting stiff (also can unstiffen a stiff shoulder as well).  No lifting, no reaching up till you get permission from your PS :)

    MBJ,

Thank you! I had skin grafting and lipo. The lipo was needed because of a shelf on the left side. and My PS took the skin from around the sides and made the nips, like said before WOW! I did tell my PS that I did not want my nips to have high beams on! hehehe! So far not bad! So does anyone have any suggestions about lotion for the nips????? Please.

    hugs Wanda

hi ladies, wanda, congrats on the nips!  I actually need a permanent high beam to match the other one, which is always on.

What technique did your PS use?

(cocoa butter all the way for me, but PS will tell you what to use/not use)  Sometimes due to risk of infection they don't want you to put anything on them for awhle)

ESTEPP! Just pm me your email. Of course I will send some pics and help however I can!! If I can help anybody along this path I would love it!!! Still a little black and blue and a weird yellow with tape still on, but you are a hairdresser..right? That means you are creative and can visualize a good end result with me!!!!!! :)

    Yippee!

My drain was taken out this morning - not sure what the rules are but my PS says if less than 30 cc draining in a 12 hour period it can come out.

What a relief!  The stitches that held that drain in just about killed me everytime I moved.  I'm so happy it's now gone.

So I just have to wait 24 more hours and then I can shower again!!

Everything is looking good but I too have the weird bright yellow bruising on my native side.

When the nurse took out the drain and changed my pads she gave me a hand mirror so I could get a real good look at everything.

I was pleasantly surprised that the PS made my aereola and nipple smaller on my native side.

She said that the PS often does that.  Anyone else have that experience?

I'm too lazy right now to go read backwards...but Congrats Marie!!! Sounds great!! What all did you have done?

Did you have nips done on both breasts? What's style????I'd love to hear all about anyone getting nips post rads. Those drains are THE WORST!! I think I actually had scar tissue form around where one was yanked out it was so brutal.

    From....your fellow yellow sister ; )

    Okay..just read your posts Marie...Exchange Surgery...what a wonderful milestone.

I had the lipo done a few weeks ago. Great results so far...but holy cannoli...no one tells you about the pain, do they?! I had no idea!! I actually didn't fill my pain prescription initially....thought it was all no big deal. I survived the first night with nothing...but as soon as that sun came up, boy did I get that percocet filled!! I only needed it a couple of days, and only took half doses. I think the stuff makes me feel worse if I take a full dose, or for too many days.

Geewhiz I knew from the last time (TE surgery) to fill my RX and start taking it right away.  Anti-inflammatories work for me but take time to build up.  So far so good!

I am not having nips "made" but instead doing the 3D nipple tattoos.  I'm sooo lucky there is a fabulous tattoo artist near me who does great work.  I just have to wait 6 months before I can do that.

Although my PS did say that he could do an "in office procedure" to give me a nip projection.  I'm going to get through this exchange recovery and then get more info from him.

If you get any news on the in office projection technique I am all ears. I will do the tattoos as well, but would love some kind of projection. I do not want to do the areolas....sounds painful. My ps that did the fat grafting told me that I could come back in a few months and we could do a little grafting to the areola area. Apparently any further techniques to the area will last longer, or hold up better. The nipple projection would hold up much better.

    Thank you Anniealso,

Ok I might be a little not sure on the technique my PS used. All I can tell you is that the skin came from my sides and he sewn on like a sponge on top of them. That was left on for about a week, then he took off the sponges and  is that what you wanted to know?? I am sorry I didn't asked what it was called. You can take off the High beam. I hope I was helpful.
