LG300 -- did you get gummies?  If so, gummies don't drop and fluff much because they are textured.  Also, if you had textured silicone rounds (as opposed to smooth) I think that also does not drop and fluff.

Deekay -- go to the very first post of your thread and you can change the title from there (you created the title on that first post).  Just type over and/or add to what is there.

I also can relate to the nightmare happening to someone else feeling... but I have to say I have gotten to the point now (at just about 2 years since initial diagnosis of DCIS in early May 2009) where I no longer feel that way.

LG300:  I had mine done at the surgical center, not at the hospital.  Maybe since you had all of those problems they would make an exception-what I nightmare, I remember it all!

DawneHope -- Trust me, a bony chest does not automatically translate to a thin bod everywhere else!  However, I'm still amazed that, like some other women here, my docs told me I was too thin for reconstruction using my own tissue.  It's an ongoing joke with my DH and me because I always say I feel fat.  Thanks for bumping your thread!

MBJ -- Free return shipping, that helps.  Maybe I'll have to give it a shot when the time comes.  Still sitting around in this awful surgical bra right now!

Pegs I will keep you in m y prayers tomorrow and for you to have peace today. My pain post exchange was not too bad.

Deekay I hope everything works out for you today and your nips are the perfect size for you.

survivorwoman2 more days for you and I. I have not been sleeping to well and yesterday got a call changing my day to today then later in the day putting me back to Thursday so I was a little crazy yesterday. Well I am in a training class at work for 4 hours today so my day should pass pretty quickly.

MBJ and anyone who can comment how long will I need to bandage the nips after and were they painful? I have quite a  bit of feeling in that area so I am a little bit concerned.

I hope everyone is having a good week and is not to nervous for the surgeries.

Has anyone experienced this near the end or after having t/e in for 6 months? i have less than a week till i see the ps, like i said but is this pain normal? and im sure he will not make exchange for at least 1-2 weeks from our planning appt May 2nd ouccchhhhh anyone please

beacher:  I would contact your PS immediately.  It is possible that it rotated but I wouldn't take any chances-you are so close!  Gentle hugs.

beacher4209,  I just had a fill yesterday and I am still in pain.  I took some leftover Oxycodone and aleve, but still was unable to sleep because of the pain.  I am not going out today because I am so tired and in pain.  Hopefully this will pass after a few days, because I still have two more fills to go - ouch!

Rebecca:   I still have this area bandaged as the underside of the nipple/areola is still healing, however, if you are just having nipples plan on 4 to 8 weeks.  I also wear a rubber nipple cover to protect it.  I also have lots of feeling, however, this surgery was pretty easy and I think this is because I didn't do general.  The area aches sometimes, but not even enough to take aspirin or the prescription they gave me.

Pegs:  We all vary so much depending on how much pocket work is done and if you need drains or not.  I couldn't drive for two weeks and two weeks off is usually the standard even if you are having just a cosmetic augmentation.  Are you unable to take the time off?  I recommend it!  You don't want to ruin what was just done.

Lilah..so good to hear that you had both an implant and reduction. I am doing the same. I'm going to have to trust my plastic surgeon about the size and of course (after reading so much here), and let time take it course. I'm hoping to have silicone on my implant side.

Are you happy with the reduction? Was your reduction side swollen for a long time. How long were you out of commission (unable to lift arms). Did your PS advise you on any special bra? My PS just said to continue wearing camisoles.  But I'm not feeling comfortable with that.

Im also a jetskiier. And about 8 weeks after my surgery I will be go away for a week with my g/f's for a week of jetskiing.  I'm hoping this is possible. Even if I have to wear 3 bras to keep me from bouncing. As strainge as that is (my worries if I can ride), after all we go through, I'm looking forward for this week away. And hopefully, not watching from the shore. Have kindle will travel if I have to.

    thank you for your input!

    Pegs,

Good Luck with your exchange tommorrow.  The exchange is much easier than the mastectomy.  I took percocet for 2 days and was fine after that.  I did not have any drains with exchange.  My PS did move my boobs closer together as they were spread a little bit with the expanders.  This can cause a little pain for a couple of days.  You should be fine.

MBJ-- thank you!  Finding this discussion board has been a god-send and I will definitely keep posting!

Everyone's plastic surgeons are so different!  I came out of exchange surgery last friday with no drains and no binder or special bra to wear!  Now I was super glad about the drains...it took 57 days after my BMX in January to finally be free of those darn things!! But was really surprisd by no special bra.  When I asked PS about it yesterday at post op appt he said that long term they had no real benefits so he did not like to subject his patients to the discomfort.  Hmm... from the sounds of it they are not the most fun to wear but really nada about the recon process is comfy so why would that change now lol!? I think I would rather be uncomfy for a time and have better placed/looking foobs than not.  Anyone else not have to wear it post exchange?  Im escpecially wondering about it because although the PSsaid he placed the implants closer together it seems they are even farther apart than the tissue expanders were....

almostdone:  Did you have Alloderm, too?  I know this helps to keep them in place but it seems the most common difficulty with implant recon is them moving under the armpits before they are fully healed which can take up to a year, Alloderm or not!  So, although there are PS's that don't specify a bra, no matter what size or type of implant recon, I would stay in a bra forever during the day and at least wear a sleep bra at night.

I have no idea why there is so much pain with my TE's.  They are filled to 480 cc's and have the capacity for 700cc's.  The pain is on the same level as my BMX.  Muscle spasms, sharp, knife-like pains and extreme tightness.  The funny thing is I had implants prior to BC, so I would have thought my non-cancer side would already be stretched out.  Only two months and one week more of these TE's...

Slinky, that sounds like too much pain.  I had that happen once during fills when they put 100ccs in.  The joints in my shoulder, arm and wrist were killing me.  I had to do something, I could not take the pain which didn't kick in fully for about 30 minutes.  My PS told me that surgery meds (which I had left over) don't do much for this type of pain.  I went back in to the PS's office and they took out 30ccs.  Instant relief!!  Pain absolutley gone!!!  I never did 100ccs again.  I hope you live close enough to your doc's to consider this option.

P.S.  FYI, I had done 100ccs previous to this one and got through it.  This fill was towards the middle of my fill period and obviously put pressure somewhere that jacked up the pain.

deekaay, I am going to give it one more night.  If it is still this painful, I will go to the PS to get some removed.  This is my 3rd 100 fill, so I am surprised about the pain - must be pressing on some nerves.  Good to know someone else has had the same issues and there is a simple solution!

MBJ I am also having fat grafting bilat so I will hope for no pain like you are talking about. I guess I thought it would heal faster. Where did you get the nipple guard?

rebetata and MBJ when they did your fat grafting they will or did leave in the current implants right and just injected the fat around it?

Slinky.... don't be afraid to get some taken out!  All of my fills were 100cc and had no problems until the second to last one.  then Ouch!  Right side felt fine but the left side felt much like you were describing. I waited three days thinking it would go away but it never did so my PS took 25 out and it was immediate relief.  He also prescribed me Flexeril 10mg to take at night and then right away in the morning and that really helped with the muscle spasms.  Good luck!

Pegs, best of luck to you tomorrow!  I'm 4 days out from exchange.  I feel pretty good, but I do have a surgical bra and a drain until Thursday.  I definitely would not want to to go work like this.  I have been going out for slow walks, and my nurse encouraged that.

MBJ- yes, I do have Alloderm.   I have been wearing camis 24/7 but will switch to bras!  Don't want them getting ny further apart than they already are!
