Thanks everyone-wow how the PSs vary-from 1 week prior to 3 months so far between last fill and exchange. Guess I'll give mine a call the beginning of the week.

My PS wanted 3 months from last fill to exchange. Also, he does the revision of the native breast 2-3 months after that. Some ladies have their implant exchange and revision done at the same time.

I had my revision to the native breast at the same time as implant placement.  PS told me that he would do the breast lift first, (I begged him not to go smaller, and at 1st had even implied that I would be OK going with a small implant in that side) he removed skin but no breast tissue so it sits nice & perky.  Then during the same surgery he removed the TE and put in the silicone implant a 450 cc moderate profile smooth.  At first was very dissapointed, I looked so much smaller than what I was use to.

On my follow up appt, he was wanting compliments of his work.  I was getting more use to it, and I have to say that the breast lift did look good.  However, I am still not satisfied with the size implant he used.  I had adamantly told him I didn't want to be smaller than what I was, but I feel that the mx side does not fill out my bra as well and also does not have much projection.

I am hoping on my 3mo f/u that I can get him to see this, instead of just talking me out of it.  Not that I want more surgery, but darn it if you have to go thru this why can't it be what you want.  I have seen many pictures of patients that don't look nearly as good and maybe I should just be happy that it has healed nicely and I don't have alot of dents, etc.  I also don't want to incur another deductible after the end of the year so I would like to get it done once and for all.

Janiceg415- Yes, for sure you deserve to be happy with your outcome, but hopefully the MX side will start to drop and may match the other side as some months go by.  My implants didn't even fill out my old bras a couple weeks after exchange, and by 5-6 months out they filled out the next cup size.  Then I was happy, it just took a while for things to fall in place.  I'm hoping you find yourself happier as some months go past, best of luck to you!

Question for your ladies who intend to undergo a revision because you don't like your sizing:  does insurance pay for this?

I have no idea where to post this question, so I'll do it here....

I had my exchange on May 31st and am quite pleased with the look and feel of my implants.  However...it appears as though my left one has "fallen" and now I have this "hollow" between my collar bone and the implant.  It makes my sternum appear to be sticking out.  Has this happened to anyone else and is this normal??  I'm definitely going to be calling in the morning but thought I would ask here, too.  It's noticable if I wear a V-Neck of any type...even with a bra on.  I think if I wear a bra that is tighter and is more of a push up style it may or may not be as noticable...but I'm not sure.

    Thanks!!!!

JoanQuilts, I sure as hell hope so! I'm going back for nipples, a bigger size, and a tuck here and there... I have been wondering the same thing but afraid to ask.

dougieswife, I think I might sort of have that if I'm visualizing what you're saying correctly. which is why I'm going a tad bigger, higher and closer. The other thing we discussed is fat grafting.

I certainly hope insurance pays for it, I don't see why it woulnd't if revisions need to be made to gain symmetry.  But I guess all of us will have to look into this.  I think the main thing is that cancer was behind all of this, so it should be covered, right???

dougieswife....I have something similar I think. On my left side, the cancer side, at the top of the implant, towards midline, I have what I call a dent. Wasn't as noticeable at first but as things have settled it is moreso. I asked my PS about it and for me anyway, when my breast surgeon was taking stuff out she took more tissue from that side. My PS said fat grafting would fix it. But my insurance company won't pay for it. So, I either pay out of pocket or live with it. Right now I'm living with it. People don't notice it even in a low cut top, even my PS said it was noticeable. We'll see how long I can live with it though. Better start saving my pennies just in case.

Dougieswife, I have a dent on the cancer side where the SNB was. We knew it was there as expansions progesssed but my PS said to see how everything settled after exchange. They look amazing, but im getting the little dent fixed in a few weeks. Its very cosmetic and my insurance is paying for it.

Does anyone know if sleeping in the same position every night can cause implants to shift? I sleep on my right side and am wondering if that could cause implant in that side to move over time. Anyone's PS said anything about sleeping position?

As for insurance I think all insurance companies look at things differently.  Exchange is considered a revision which does not make any sence to me, this seems like completetion.  I guess nipples are considered nipple reconstruction.  Anyway my PS office told me that many insurance companies will only pay for one revision ie: exchange.  I called my insurance company and they do not have any limits as long as it it medically necessary to make everything correct.  Some pay for fat grafting and some consider that experiemental and will not pay for it.  I guess the law is they have to provide reconstruction but I guess some try to do as little as possible.  My cousins GF had reconstruction using TE's and kept telling her PS that she wanted to be the same size she was before BC which was big.  He made her much smaller.  She ended up going to another PS.  Had the TE's put back in and expanded to the size she wanted and her insurance paid for all of it.

Right now with being expanded to 400 I am wearing a 32C or D bra.  After talking to the PS nurse and her speaking the the PS.  He is going to use mentor 450's HP silicone.  He said he can go 50cc larger without expanding me any further.  I really hope I am going to be happy with this size.

Greenmonkey I did look at your blog and you do look amazing.

janiceg415- I feel the same way. I'm really not being vain. I feel that after all this the one thing I would have control over was how I look afterwards. I am not happy with the size of my implants. I did 450cc saline implant but I look like a small b cup.

Does anyone know what is involved if you want to have a revision and go one size larger?

Oh I'm sorry you are not happy with the size. Not having done mine yet though I  have no idea how it works but I thought I read on one of the boards that they could take up to 3 months to actually "fluff" to their fullest? Could you still have more fluffing to do? What do the PS say about when the implants will look their best?

I hope they do fluff up. My ps didnt say. I saw him for post op visit last week and he said this was the size. I didnt say anything to him at the time about the size because I thought they would shift a bit. I'll be seeing him next month and I'll discuss it further.

I had my exchange surgery on 7/20/12.  I now have to decide on whether to get nipples or not.  I was leaning toward  not - I love not having to wear a bra - my husband is with me with whatever my decision.  I was wondering if there are others out there who have elected to not get nipples and whether they are still happy with that decision.

Beckyv.....I'm not getting nipples and haven't given it a second thought. In my opinion, why have something there that i can't feel but will 'see'. I just don't want the headlight look no matter how minimal. My PS was a little suprised but understood. I'm almost 5 months out from exchange.

Instead I'm opting for 3D nipple tattoos. I'm having them done in October. This way when I look in the mirror I'll have nips!

    Good luck with your decision.

I am not a candidate for nipple reconstruction because my muscle is not strong enough. I had a UMX and as I wait for my exchange, i kind of like not wearing a bra and not having my headlight on. I still have one on my native breast. LOL. I dont know if i will do a tatoo, but will do a 3d one if decide to go forward. I am 60 and dont have a DH, so it really doesn't matter.

I LOVE not wearing a bra!!!  The TEs make it easy.  LOL  I was a DDD before my BMX, so I don't miss bras at all!  I am hoping that mybe I can get away with not wearing any ever!  LOL

Mool - I'm going to NOLA in October for my 3-D tattoos with Vinne Meyers.  When I started leaning in that direction, my PS was really supportive of my decision.  As for my DH, he stays home while my sister and I fly to NOLA for some party time and new nips!

Mari - Before my BMX I was about the same size as you, too.  I LOVE NOT WEARING A BRA WITH SOME OF MY NEW CLOTHES!

    Take care,

2FriedEggs - Yes, each of my MRIs has been done the same....lying on my stomach with breasts (or implants) in the "thingy" Surprised.  BTW, just got a copy of the report today and nothing worrisome showed up this time so no recommendations for another followup MRI at this time..yay!  As a follow-up to my former post about MRIs the report also states that "This is not the optimum protocol for evaluating implant integrity, but they appear to be grossly intact."  So there apparently would need to be a major rupture to show up on a diagnostic MRI for lumps, it likely would not show something small because not the proper technique to see the implant walls well.

I am wondering when you decided that you were finished with the fills and were the right size for exchange? My PS told me on my last fill visit that he thinks I am done. Isn't that my decision? I go in tomorrow for a 30 minute appt to discuss the exchange surgery and set a date. I guess he will give me a partial fill tomorrow if I insist on one more. I had 150 during surgery, and then had 3 fill appts with 100 ccs each fill, so I am now at 450 ccs. I am very happy with my current size, but I read on here that they end up being smaller after exchange and that people are not happy, and am scared that I will wish I went bigger. I am 5'6 and 136 lbs, and will be having high profile mentor cohesive gels put in. Do I just have boobie greed? I was an A cup before surgery.

Rckinrobin no you don't have boobie greed.  I am in the same boat as you.  My exchange is scheduled for Aug 21st.  I am currently at 400 and will be getting 450 mentor hp silicone.  I am 5'3" 117lbs.  I really like the way I look.  I decided on the extra 50cc because everyone keeps saying they will look smaller.  Hopefully the 50cc will do the trick.  Also I was a AA before so very flat indeed.
