May be the old quibble about whether encapsulated cancerous cells are precancerous or cancer. Either way, nothing to sneeze at.

IllinoisLady: Hope your Dr. B is wrong. As much as they hate to admit they are wrong, eyeballing something and calling it cancer versus a pathology report outcome, I'll put my money on the path report. Glad they are out and fingers crossed.
Sun is out today in full blast and so welcome. My purple and white iris has bloomed with 3 flowers for the third time this year and it is beautiful. Never had it bloom this late in the year. Still have one pink and white dahlia in bloom as well.
The siding people showed up this AM to install last piece of siding and to install ports for bathroom exhaust fans. So now the exterior is finished. The chimney still has some brick repair and pointing to be done but the house from the exterior finally looks whole. Can't say the same for the interior though. Have a good weekend.

Betrayal, good that things are finally coming together for you with the house.

Mary: Thank you. It's like baby steps and I am grateful when one area appears normal.
I had a lighter moment today when I realized that some of the rooms in the house could have been deemed "storage units" because they have been used that way for the last year. So instead of viewing them as "hoarder" scenes, viewing them as storage units means at some point they will be returned to their original purpose. So the dining room is a storage unit as is part of the family room, and the living room is the temporary holding area for the MBR closet organizer, also the site for sorting and culling items for donation and the temporary green house for displaced house plants. So I am trying to make lemonade with all these lemons.

Pretty damp outside, but I'm hoping for no more rain. There is plenty enough wind though so who knows for sure. I think I have to see where my daily weather report got to. Going to have a good day though. Tomorrow it bussies back up. That is okay.
In between the three people I will be helping thru the week, I have projects here to work on. They won't go as far as would be nice, but my schedule won't be this busy for too long I don't think. All depends on how quick my friend can start feeling comfortable and secure with her new hip.
I hope you all have a good day.

Hope it was a nice day Illinois! We had wind and now some rain but not too bad. I woke up slow with a headache so zoom chuch was later; had a zoom breast cancer support meeting also, then mostly reading and relaxing. An easy dinner and early to bed to read. Our book club made new selections so I'm off and running.
To the A.M. posters have a great start to your week. 🙂

To the people who love you, you are beautiful already.
This is not because they're blind to your shortcomings
but because they so clearly see your soul.

Sunny this morning, maybe some wind later, but it is quiet now. Likely in the low 60's so a bit of improvement. My busy time starts today, but it should be fine and only a couple of added things so far. That's okay as I can drop one job off tomorrow -- I will have Tues. and Thurs. off each week until my friend recovers for her hip replacement surgery. I hope she does well. She was really limping the other day. She is such a good person.
Looking forward to things getting quiet soon as we transition to a new president and new yr. Mainly hoping that we at last can take the steps that will ACTUALLY start really helping us gain some control over this awful virus. I so want everyone to be safe and continue to be sad for all those and their families who we have lost.
Hope you all have a great Monday.

Ditto about the message.
After last night's heavy rain accompanied by high winds, today is sunny and clear. Temp in the 50's now with a light breeze. Going to PT for evaluation of my knee now that orthovisc shots are done. Supposedly it will take a month to see if I get any benefits, so here's hoping. According to x-ray's right knee is just as bad with arthritis changes as left but (fingers crossed) it doesn't hurt.
My DB had a rough night so my DSIL is dragging him to the ER for re-evaluation. He's almost 2 weeks out from Covid dx and my DSIL feels it is time for a chest xray and more antibiotics. He has underlying lung issues related to psoriatic arthritis so this is the concern. She said he had a great day yesterday but was up most of the night. Keep him in your prayers, please.

Hi all...I've been reading back to October and it's been busy here.
Puffin, I am glad your cyst was not cancerous. I would not wish ovarian cancer on anyone. If I knew what I know now, I would have removed all female parts after I was done with babies.
Gleason, I hope you are doing OK with the treatment phase of BC. I had temporary loss of balance during chemo, and fatigue. No real pain.
PNW, MBC is a tough diagnosis to start. You are still "young" and should get those genetic tests done. There are new therapies and trials for MBC, and women are living longer. I hope you have found an informative Stage 4 group on BCO.
I enjoyed the coffee discussion. I have a Keurig and like weak coffee. I also have Nespresso and I use the milk frother for lattes. A dash of cinnamon helps me reduce adding sugar.
I did not start drinking coffee until my 50s.
Petit, I love the coffee grinder. I know my mom had a red one. Great memory!Betrayal, you have been through so much with the renovation. You are right to stay on the premises to oversee the work and your belongings. We will be renovating much of our home within the next year and am planning to stay except for when utilities will be disconnected for more than a day.
Sorry to hear about your brother and sister-in-law with Covid. These are challenging times. I hope they pull through strongly.
Jackie, I am glad your DH's surgery is behind him. Back surgery is tough...glad he is mobile and hopeful for the future!
I do hope any confusion about your biopsy results will be resolved. I am hoping you will be cleared of disease. What a year you've had!
We had a late first hard frost in November, which instantly killed the annuals in my deck boxes. Then we had a long period of temps in the 60s and 70s. We went to the beach, hiked, worked outside, and loved the November surprise. Then it rained and rained last week, ending with last night's tornado warning. We had torrential rain and winds; but they quickly passed through Eastern Long Island.
It's been two years since my ovarian cancer surgery and 21 months of remission. The class is fully online; but it won't run if it's under-enrolled.
I retired in January, thinking I'd travel and visit long lost friends and my brother in Ohio. This year has brought much disappointment for many of us. I hope next spring/summer that I will have another chance.
Best wishes to all,
Joan0 -
Joan, it was good to hear from you again, how special that you sent us individualized notes!

WAVING HI TO JOAN!....and and everyone else....!
I read BCO, but depending how my RIGHT hand is doing, I rarely reply....and am wearing a brace on it....and putting off the surgery, .....as I had surgery on my left hand, years ago,, so I know the surgery is a LONG recovery.....involving removing one of the tendons in my forearm, remoiving it and coiling it around the nerve in the 3rd portion of the thumb, and then after surgery a cast from hand to elbow for TOO LONG and then PT.
Taking a rest....hugs to all!
Di

Joan - great to see you. Thanks for the updaate And look - Puffin & Di too. Sorry Di about your hand.

It feels like old home week with hearing from people who haven't been checking in.
Di, I can see why putting repair off seems reasonable. That's a lot of down time.

Joan, I hope a Covid vaccine will improve your opportunities for travel in the next few years.
I definitely am experiencing some Covid fatigue but continue to take precautions like wearing a mask and maintaining distance as much as possible. The news about the vaccines is encouraging.
I planted some Pansy plants in planters on the patio and am watering them and dead heading the blossoms. Pansies are cold tolerant and are very pretty in the early spring.

Good morning, ladies. Good hearing from Di and Joan. It is a pretty morning and 48 degrees. DH has a dental appointment and has to wear a mask. He was able to get a big mask that is more comfortable for him to wear. One of his former coworkers is in the hospital with COVID 19 plus pneumonia complications and not doing well. That is the first person that he knows with it.
Hope everyone has a pleasant day.

Joan, sending my love and care to you.
Di, it does sound so daunting. Apparently not much in the way of improving this type of surgery. Wish that were not so. Good to hear otherwise that you are okay and keep up with us.
Sunny here today but pretty cool. Still waiting on any updates on my path reports. Sigh. It will all come out okay, but I'm thankful to have plenty to keep me busy while I wait. I hope you all have a really good day.

Weather has been ok, not great. But I've been able to get out for walks every day. Tomorrow the high should hit 32! We still have leaves to get up. Weekend warming up into the 50's so we still have time, but not a lot.
I spent last night wrapping Christmas gifts. Ran to the $Tree for more Christmas tissue paper & tags. Before covid, and me agreeing to help with remote school for my grand niece, I would have been in FL by now. The last time I spent Christmas in NY it was due to BC, 2017. My rads started the day after Christmas. I have some supplies, random Christmas decorations too. But my life story of ornanents are in FL now, along with wrapping paper, etc.
Our COVID rates are going up here. Although they're much higher in our FL neighborhood. There is talk of more cuts at the schools, possible furloughs. Multiple schools aroundchete have had to close for a time. And I think almost all the colleges have gone to virtual only. Strange tines indeed.
I reread my post, it sounds down...sorry. I'm not down, just hunkering down. Have a good night!

Our COVID rates have spiked dramatically, so we're under a "stay-home advisory." Nowhere near as strict as last spring's stay-home order (e.g., salons and retail are open, as is outdoor dining & drinking till 11pm for the cold-hardy). Goal is to bend the curve enough to make a careful, prudent indoor family Christmas possible.
My back is better, though not 100%, but I'll take it. No need to take Baclofen during the day, and I've gone from accompanying my Tylenol with 3 ibuprofen TID to 2 Aleve BID to 1 Aleve BID (plus topicals). Stretches help, as does heat.
My ocular-onc checkup is tomorrow 12:45. It'll be dilated (plus imaging), but by the time I'm done it will be getting dark enough for me to wear cataract shades over my sunglasses--and I'll be driving away from the sunset. The alternative would be to have my HK drop me off and then have to hang around till Bob can come get me, but I have no idea when that'd be--otherwise, have to risk a rideshare. Nope. I've driven dilated several times before, and I can be very, very careful.

Sandy, Will be sending you every magic charm and spell, starting at 12:45, for a nifty ocular-onc report which sounds from all you’ve said and how symptomless you’ve been, that it will be good.
On a different note,of course you were on Jeopardy- you know tons about tons of everything

Good morning, ladies. It was a cool 46 degrees when I got up. Going to 70. My Florida cats hate it. They think it is a day to just snuggle up. I can agree with that, but too much to do.

I check in every couple days, just don't post much. Covid soaring here too. Will be staying home for Thanksgiving. The snow we've had has melted, a year that driving to family for Thanksgiving dinner would have been pleasant. I remember one Thanksgiving when we arrived at Lew's mom's house she had 4 snowmen lined up along her driveway.

Puffin2014: What a great story about the snowmen welcoming committee. How clever!
We will be sheltering in for Thanksgiving with DD and DSIL since Covid numbers in PA are on the rise. We ordered a meal, for the first time, from Maggiano's to be picked up on Thanksgiving. So I do not even need to reheat since it is supposed to be "hot". I will let you know if it is worth it. I have a free turkey coupon so I will get one and save it in freezer for a future meal. Can't use dining room yet since it is still in "storage locker mode" so I don't want to dig out the china. etc. Makes it hard to embrace holidays when you are living in a construction zone.

Sometimes things which at the moment may be perceived as obstacles--and actually be obstacles, difficulties, or drawbacks--can in the long run result in some good end which would not have occurred if it had not been for the obstacle.
Steve Allen0 -
Puffin, I was excited to see your name pop up. Good to hear from you. I also liked your welcoming committee of several yrs. ago. We will not be doing anything. I likely will make a roast since we can get several meals from it afterward. Actually -- just not in a turkey mood this yr.
Betrayal, I will be waiting to hear how your turkey dinner turned out. Maggiano's is where the Illinois Ladies used to meet all the time after the Illinois Ladies thread got started -- back in 2007. That is when I first got on a blog of ANY kind -- necessity can get you where you need to go - and though the thread is still there and I post a quote every day, few entries show up. Many of the original women do from time to time let me know that they still jump in there to read the quote so I always make sure to get it in. I think I may have been the last one who was the guest of honor way back then. The only time I made the long trip to the Chicago area ( Schamburg to be exact ) . Not sure of the spelling, but I am about 4 hrs. south of Chicago.
Petite it was very cold here this morning. About 34 degrees I think. Brrr. The next couple of days will be a bit better. Can't say I'm ready, but usually I never am. I just find a way to adjust once it happens..
Sandy fingers crossed for you.

I'm still getting the annual $25 Holiday coupon for a ham or turkey as a Sanford Hospital employee, even though I've been retired for 7 years. So I went shopping today, got a buy one get one free boneless ham, which didn't quite come to $25 so I was able to pick up fresh veggies to make up the difference. So I got 7# of ham, a baking potato, 1# carrots and 3/4# grapes for $.14. I'll cut the ham up into 6 and 8 oz chunks to freeze, which is the amount of ham most of my recipes call for. Then I went to the store that had sweet potatoes on sale for $.55/# and bought 10#. Will bake and peel them, then cut them into cubes and freeze them in 1# ziplock bags to eat over the winter.

Good to hear from you again, Puffin. Hope you're staying safe. Another of our ND sisters, ruthbru, is battling COVID at home (she caught it despite being ultra-careful). As of last night she was improving. Fingers (and toes and even eyes) crossed for a complete recovery!
Had my ocular-onc appt. today. Bad(-ish) news is that we don't have a path report because the location & minuscule size of the tumor made it impossible to safely harvest enough cells to assay for markers w/o risking spread. (But I'd been warned that was likely). Good news is that the tumor has shrunken by 10% (in 3 months). The onc. says that's excellent, and it should continue to shrink (albeit more slowly) over the next 3 years, possibly to only 40% of its original size (which was 2.6mm). My vision has improved with the new progressives prescription: I gained 2 "lines" at the bottom of the chart in the L eye and lost nothing in the R. The onc. says there will be a staff meeting at UIC Hosp. this week, which will probably result in a decision to cancel all elective procedures (i.e., those not for life-saving purposes). So no cataract or retina surgeries till the "curve bends" down sufficiently. Think I'll defer rescheduling my allergy challenge test too, which is as "elective" as it gets. I will likely keep next week's mani-pedi appt. so long as the salon is allowed to remain open. (Our state's new "Tier 3" mitigations under the "stay-home advisory" are less strict than those in force during last spring's "stay-home order"). Bob says Christ Hosp. has already canceled electives--and may actually include heart valve replacements, LVADs and Watchman implantations in that definition. We dipped below 10K new cases today for the first time in well over a week, but deaths & hospitalizations are up.
The "kids" will come over T'giving eve to sit on the deck for distanced & masked cocktails, coffee & dessert. Bob & I will have Cellars' catered turkey-breast dinner delivered hot on T-day itself--just the two of us.
