The sun is out and we have beautiful snow scenes out every window that isn't covered by a hurricane shutter. There were some great pictures of New Orleans on Facebook. And our neighbors posted a lovely picture of their pink Victorian house. Belinda called the picture Peaceful Pink. Today will be hazardous travel because the temperatures remain in freezing range and melting snow will turn to black ice. We have no need to get out so will continue in Hunker Down mode.
Happy Winter Wednesday.

We are getting some relief today, with a predicted high of 28 deg. Friday and on for a while, temps above freezing, back to "normal". I think this cold weather came about because of smoke from southern California.

We started at 9 degrees this morning and it is now 18. At 9, the weatherman said it was actually minus zero due to the chill factor. I am doing laundry and trying to do more editing on the 3 family stories I have written. I need to add the Coat of Arms to the one, and just find the needed information that I have highlighted in red on the 2 others. I've updated the citations in the stories as well as the reference list.
Funny how you can sometimes have a brainstorm in the middle of the night and then follow through in the morning. This occurred around 4 am and it was a means of linking the stories together while explaining their significance.
I was doing laundry today so I had some breaks to ponder any new revelations. While I use Ancestry to record data, there is no mechanism to save it to my own private record like those who use what Taco uses. I plan on printing out what is important and save it in binders for anyone else who may wish to follow in my research footsteps. I found myself just collecting names and I no longer wish to do that. I will print out information on my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and list their children without researching them further and maybe add a personal note about each that reflect a memory or memories.
It is sunny today which is welcome after yesterday's gloom. I have been asking my orthopedic surgeon's office to provide a PAT schedule since December. My surgery is in April and we do not return from our cruise until the end of the first week in March. I did request on multiple occasions a prescription for prehab PT and finally got that. I have scheduled appointments in March for PT, cardiology, eye doctor and MRI (if possible). I am trying to not schedule anything immediately post-TKR. I am trying to get a dental cleaning in March as well. Finally, today after another email to the ortho surgeon's office they called and I have a PAT appointment. For my first surgery, I had all this scheduled within a week of my office appointment and my surgery wasn't for 4 months later but this time not timely and I found this to be odd.
Regan has not been getting walks so she has cabin fever. DH says it is too cold and we are concerned about the salt they use on the sidewalks where he walks her. She got a piece embedded between her pads one day and was limping. He said it was hard to get out, too. We do wash her feet after but don't want her to get a cut pad.
My DB and DSIL have a second home in the FL panhandle. They got 5 inches of snow and only one neighbor, an Indiana transplant, brought their snow shovel with them. She sent me photos of her palms, her camellia that was in bloom and reported it was 27 degrees this morning. They are staying in the house because other than a few sweat shirts and jeans they don't have any winter clothing there, it's all at their house up here. Moved there to escape winter and it still found them.
Sandy, glad you were able to get medical follow-up scheduled so easily. Nice perk for being a physician's wife.
Carole, I am sure your DH is chomping at the bit to get his knee done but better safe than sorry.
Got in contact with PCP about need for second Covid vaccine that seems to be recommended this year. So got the go ahead to get one before our trip. We'll go to CVS for it. Seems the CDC recommended a second one 6 months after the last one but as early as 2 months if need be. We had ours in August so we qualify. DH has thyroid nodule bx tomorrow so we may go on Friday since that is supposed to be a warmer (haha) day. Do not want to become ill on this cruise.
harley07, we leave for Miami on 2/7 and pick up the cruise on 2/8. I bought lightweight long Johns for when we went to Jackson Hole in February and they worked really well. We took sleigh rides (twice) through the Elk preserve and even though they provided a lap blanket it wasn't large enough to cover more. I was not cold due to the long johns and layering plus a Lands End Snow Squall jacket. The ride lasts for about 45 minutes so you are exposed and much of the time we were standing up to take photos. Enjoy your cruise and please take photos of the Northern lights.
petite1, glad you didn't get any snow. cindyny, just bundle up if you have to go out.
Have a good day.

Good afternoon. Back from Marion. It was interesting. I gave up my personal Podiatry visit so Dh to get in to see the Podiatry Dr. The issue was — the tech does my podiatry work and she and the Dr. have different schedules which would have meant (had I not given up my appt.) going one day for me and the next day to Dh. At 150 miles round trip I was not going to do that so gave up my appt.
Alls well that ends well. Dh did see the Dr. but found he no longer needs the surgery on his feet. Why? Who knows. I'm glad but it is interesting that it was so needed a few yrs. ago and not know. Supposedly it was not something that would 'cure' on its own.
At the same time, due to weather and cancellations, the tech ended up having time to do my feet which she did so I will not have toenails trying to push their way into my shoe leather. Also, now Dh can schedule his podiatry trims at the same time as mine so that we can both get service at the same time. Dh has been going to salons just to have his toenails trimmed.
27 degrees right now but about 15 degrees when we left this morning. There is still ice in our lane. Thankfully, the roads are free of ice, but enough trees (even nude) to block enough sun to keep the ice from full melt in our lane to our house — so turning off the road going a bit over half a block, then turning up the lane — another long block, and then into our driveway. It's not real far but something of a jaunt if you are on ice. One of these days (hopefully) the ice will all melt.

DH is now scheduled for TKR tomorrow thanks to a cancellation. I just asked him if he is nervous and he answered, "Not yet." I definitely have some anxiety. He now gets pedicures at salons since having the first one this past summer. I should do the same to get my toenails trimmed. I don't do a great job with the clippers.
The world outside is still white this morning. The temperature should rise into the 40's during the day. I'm hoping that by tomorrow driving will be safe. DH will drive to the surgery center and I will be driving myself home later in the day. He will spend one night and be discharged on Saturday if all goes according to plan. Then the challenge of week one will begin.
There were a lot of snow pictures on Facebook this morning. Some good Mardi Gras style snowmen. And a lot of pictures people took and posted. Our next door neighbors took some really great pictures and videos. I wish I had asked them to take a picture of our house from the street but I didn't think of it.
Happy Thursday.

Good morning. 36 degrees. It will drop into the twenties over night. I covered what plants I could and will hope for the best. My biggest worry is the Bird of Paradise. I almost lost it 2 years ago. 27 degrees is it's death point.
I have a PET/CT scan scheduled on Monday. My GYN and PCP are worried about the lump in my arm pit.
I have a grief meeting and a luncheon scheduled today, but they conflict. I am just going to the meeting and skipping the lunch. My holiday pounds drop a little then go right back up.

26 degrees here and the sun keeps trying to come out. I hope it stays this time. There are some clouds, but hope they are not enough to lose too much of that sun.
I think so far we have had strange weather patterns in a lot of areas, like Louisiana. While we have had 'our' weather before, it has been a long time. Many yrs. ago (like when we first returned home in 1997, we could expect one month of snowfalls (not always real deep mind you) and one month of cold. They were not always paced well, but that was sort of the yearly expectation. Then these last few years, we had very light snowfalls, if any and usually more rain for the major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. Even this year we had rain for Christmas Day.
It is worrisome that changes in government will likely cancel much of the climate work and cooperation that was going on. That is sad but I hope to whatever degree, restorable in a few years. Most of you know by now I am big on hope and always have been. Every day to me is new and can have great opportunities. Just think I may have to wait for some time to realize much more of them.
Hope all of you are enjoying some of the sun's warming cheerful rays. Soon (it's already on my mind a tiny bit) I will start longing for Spring and watching for the first signs. I'll have to wait for about 6 weeks for sure though, till I can get super enthusiastic. I can dream till then. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

My hair was cut on Wednesday. I’ll know tonight if it’s short enough, after shampooing & drying.
Our event for today was cancelled. Seems at 51 degrees, with windchill making it feel 45, they didn’t think they’d get a good showing. I was glad! I can stay in my long yoga pants & sweatshirt.
I did all my baking yesterday- beer bread, and the cabbage casserole I think was Betrayal’s recipe. I did it to warm my house up. Food came out great, and warmed up the house too.
I didn’t take notes, but read everything.
Carole, I’m glad your husband is getting TKR done tomorrow.
Petite, good luck with your tests for the lump. Monday will be here quickly.
Sandy, my partner is on Eliquis without any issues. Hoping you’re staying warm. Jackie, I’m glad you and dh were both able to get your feet taken care of.I didn’t get a walk in this morning. It was raining on & off, and with it being windy and cooler out, I didn’t have it in me. Tomorrow I’m hoping there’s no rain.
Petite my new Bougainville and desert rose are in my garage. The flowers drop off when it’s too cold. Here’s hoping your bird of Paradise survives!0 -
Welcome back, Sandy. And a belated happy birthday (at least I think it's now belated), It's not just Chicago for permit delays. Hate to be the messenger but they will need to reinspect after each step. Your Gala outfit sounds really fun. A jeweled cane even.
I will quit complaining about our "cold" weather here. We have really become acclimated to the warmer temps.
Our poor daughter has been without heat for over a week. She has hot water and has managed to find a few space heaters but Maine is also VERY cold. She's afraid to leave the house with the space heaters going and afraid of pipes freezing if she isn't there. So on top of everything else she is eating up her vacation and personal time. Hate to think what her electric bill will be.
Ken's teeth surgery wasn't as bad as expected and he's doing well. Thank goodness I only had to walk Mutz a few days. He came and licked me awake when he needed to go out in the morning but we slept later than Ken does. I'm still smiling about the buttons, Chris.
Betrayal, I did an article for our local genealogy publication. I am descended from 4 of the 8 children of Henry Adams, the grandfather of the 3rd President (through another son). It was fun to do. Hope your idea for merging your families work.
Be careful everyone. Covid is about here.

Hi everyone am recovering here also in the coastal Carolinas from very low temps and lots of snow. Just unheard of here. We were gifted a sego palm last year when we moved here. I'm not sure it has survived all this. Looks pretty yellow out in the yard.
Cindy the food you made sounds great. I have been walking also, but to indoor YouTube videos. I actually like doing them and according to fitbit they are a good workout.
Petite in your pocket for good news from your testing.
Illinois I'm glad all your appointments were able to be consolidated. Regarding hope, I heard a good quote once: "Never take away someone's hope. It may be all they have." I think in this age of "tough love" (often very necessary) we at the same time need to remember we are all fragile.
Carole hope all goes very well with DHs TKR.
Hi to everyone else and have a warming day.

Petite, in your pocket for the PET scan—hoping the axillary lump is either scar tissue, a swollen gland from infection, or a lipoma.
Carole, in your pocket as well for your husband's TKR. It's not as easy a rehab as a hip replacement, and I don't envy your caregiving burden. I think that's why Bob refuses to do anything (more than orthotics and the occasional cortisone shot) about his own knees so long as he still has cartilage—not only would he have to take at least 6-10 weeks off, he'd be stuck at home with me; and all the fetching he had to do for me while I was living on the couch for 3 weeks with my sprained ankle/busted foot likely gave him pause what we'd be in for were the tables turned. Difference, of course, is that with a TKR you're fully-weightbearing as soon as the anesthesia wears off, and some PTs have you doing stairs within a week. (One guy at Rush has his patients doing stairs the same day…and then released to home).
Bob had nothing to do with my being able to get my heart tests scheduled so fast—my PCP marked the referral "STAT." They actually wanted me to do it today (nope—PT/workout in the afternoon followed by my birthday dinner—a winemaker dinner at McCormick & Schmick) or tomorrow (nope again, as I'm taking Gordy to a paella class/lunch at Ba Ba Ree Ba, the tapas place we've gone to since he was only 2 years old). They don't do it Saturday (and I have a guitar party out in the NW 'burbs anyway), so Monday it is. Bob warned me I almost certainly will need a cardiac cath (ugh) but not necessarily stenting. My Agatston calcium score is 1200, with the highest component (600) being the LAD artery, aka the "widowmaker." Bob explained that though he agrees with the PCP that I definitely have CAD, that doesn't necesarily translate to sufficient narrowing of the lumens to constitute stenosis; and medical/dietary management may be all I need. But they'd have to image my arteries to see how patent vs. narrowed they are, and do a stress test to see how well my heart actually functions. It's irrelevant that I'm asymptomatic: Bob says that for 30% of CAD patients the first symptom is the actual attack or stroke.
The property owner came by yesterday and told me that paradoxically I'd set the thermostat too high—the ancient boiler was not designed for subzero winters and above 76-78 or so was actually overdriving itself to the point where it could not produce enough heat. We backed it down to 76; it took about 18 hrs, but the ambient temp is 68-69. He also brought a space heater, which is helping a lot. I'm in a single layer of PJs right now—and it's 5F outside, with -5 wind chill. No need for heating pads tonight. The cats have gone back up into my room again, now that it's no longer frigid (when we plugged in the space heater, it was only 58F in the bedrooms! No wonder I bundled up). As to converting the 3 pathetic little wall radiators to baseboards, the estimate is $12-15K. The owner is fairly shocked. When he bought the place to rent out, he never expected the winters to be so brutal, otherwise he'd have done the necessary mods right then & there.

Everybody really knows what to do to have his or her life filled with joy. What is it? Quit hating people; start loving them. Quit being mad at people; start liking them. Quit doing wrong; quit being filled with fear. Quit thinking about yourself and go out and do something for other people. Everybody knows what you have to do to be happy. But the wisdom of the test lies in the final words: "If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them."

Sunny this morning if pretty cool at 8 degrees. It will warm up I'm sure. Most of us seem to be hanging in there with the artic DRAG going on. Sandy, I'm so delighted your landlord was able to come by and give you a heads-up on how the old boiler will best function for you. I really can't imagine having to undergo such cold. Then again, I'm pretty cold natured and feel somewhat cool in our house at 71 which is where we've kept it during our cold outdoor temps. Still, the minute I get doing things I warm pretty good so I wouldn't want it up any higher. I hope now you can un-thaw and enjoy some almost 'normal' warmth.
It's usually never that easy, but I wonder if your landlord could get a boost from installing a new "energy efficient" furnace system in the house. Maybe you only get that if it's your primary residence. He'd have to wait anyway, likely.
Hope everyone having tests, procedures or any healing will do fine. Sandy, hope you enjoy that birthday dinner and as well the one with Gordy. It all sounds delightful and then have 'good' tests after.
Nothing special on today. The normal. My kids are over at Ron's son's house watching the baby while the son and mom go to Carbondale (right next to the VA in Marion where we go) for the mom to have a heart procedure. Not sure but sort of standard for her I think and should take just a few hours and back home.
Hope you all have a good day. Stay warm.

Belated happy birthday, Sandy. Many happy returns and many more birthdays to come. Hope you enjoy all those meals. Not a fish/shrimp fan but they do sound good. We have a McCormick and Schmick in Philly but have never been there. Good luck with the studies as well.
According to the thermometer it is 25 degrees which is a warm up over the past few days but we are not expected to reach the freezing point. There is a breeze so I imagine the wind chill is making it feel colder.
Finished the family story I was working on but as with all genealogy it still has some holes that need to be filled. I still have 2 that need some attention but will save them for later. I did figure a way to tie them all together with a brief statement about how they contribute to the family lineage. My cousin thinks she can download my Ancestry data into some sort of private document which I may take her up on in the future.
With my TKR they ensure you can do steps before you are discharged and you walk the same day for about 90 feet. I used my walker for about 2 weeks and then used my cane. PT was resumed 3 weeks after the replacement. They no longer admit to rehab facilities in this area and there are some orthopods (affiliated with Rothman Institute) who don't order PT at all, they hand you a sheet of exercises and you are on your own. I really did not require much waiting on post-op though cooking was off the table for 6 weeks. Dh is not a cook but can reheat food well. I always have precooked foods stored in the freezer for these occasions.
Need to start planning wardrobe for cruise. We do have free laundry as a perk so this means I can pack less slacks but also have more variety in tops, casual versus dressier, and still make the weight limit. Turn around is usually a day so no issues with delay. Just want to coordinate outfits to maximize wear. We are going to be in tropical weather so have to think about lighter weight slacks which I don't have. So time to wardrobe shop what I do have and make decisions on what to take.
Need to get moving. Hope everyone has a good day.

As for the Apple Watch, I read that the problem was almost always software—so I went to the Watch app on my phone and turned off anything that might have been draining the battery (background refresh, always-on display and even "wake om wrist raise," optimized charge limit, even going into low-power mode); but the longer it was on a plugged-in charger (USB or bedside Qi), it kept draining, reaching 6% even as it read "charging to full." So I decided in desperation to try rebooting it (turning it off till the Apple logo appeared). Went out to dinner. Voilá: within 90 min. it was 100%. So it wasn't temperature-related—it never got below 55F indoors, which is actually within the recommended temp range—but merely a "nervous breakdown." (Hey, if human neurosis is a "software problem…").
Chris, the CA wildfires have nothing to do with the arctic temps in the Midwest (and snow in the deep South). This time of year, the jet stream naturally shifts south, bringing a polar air mass to the northern states; but global climate change has raised the temp of the oceans (including Arctic), roiling the upper air to the point where it moved further south than usual. But now that winds are shifting up from the southwest, not only are we getting a warmup (to "normal" levels), but also getting some of that wildfire smoke (as we did from the Canadian wildfires in 2023). One more reason to stock up on masks again but wear them outdoors: protection from both cold air and pollution.

Betrayal, Chico's is a great go-to for cruisewear, especially their discount "Off the Rack" site (or outlets, if you have one near you). Their Travelers and Zenergy collections can be used to create interchangeable "capsule wardrobes," and can be rolled up for packing without needing ironing at your destination. I can live out of a "clamshell" suitcase for the duration of my trip (except for formal wear that needs hanging up).
When I had my TKRs, they had me up & walking down the hall as soon as I was wheeled back to my room! The PT made me walk all the way down to the end of the corridor and back. The next day I had PT; the day after that I was transferred to inpatient rehab because the PT protocol was twice a day and OT every day—no way was I going to be able to go up & down my outside stairs twice a day to go to & from the PT clinic (ATI the first time, which once I got home sent a van 3x/week; Athletico once I was home, after the L knee because I was able to drive).
The first rehab center had me using a cane right away (I was there 10 days, and it was terrible—food awful, not allowed to use the dining room because I couldn't carry a tray, and on the same floor as dementia & MRSA patients); the second had me work up from wheelchair to cane. I was there two weeks, and it was like a resort with drugs. I had a reserved table in the dining room, a menu to choose from (no wine because I was on opioids) and allowed to have guests dine with me; movies (with popcorn) every 3 days, weekly mocktail parties & manicures, ice cream parlor and freshly-baked cookies at all time (real coffee too, even espresso—at the first center, I had to bribe the nurses so I could get my daily caffeine). At both centers, stair climbing was the last day before I was released; and each time there was a scheduled 20-min. outdoor supervised walk with my PT. Unfortunately, the first time it was 100F outside, so our walks were down the hallways between the inpatient and residential (independent living) wings. And I did get to give a concert at both facilities.
When I was released, I had 2 weeks of visiting PT & nurses (vitals & INR draws), and then outpatient PT. I also did "prehab" at Athletico before the second TKR, and it got me into much better shape to withstand surgery & recovery.

Appreciate the cruise tips Betrayal and Sandy. We are headed to Paris then Normandie via River cruise in late spring. I'm starting to mentally pack.

Sandy, thanks for the Chico's referral. There isn't one close to me though and I am so short legged that even petite pants have to be hemmed or I am walking on them. Long trunk so I usually buy regular sized tops so my belly isn't visible when I raise my arms or reach and short arms so long sleeved shirts can be a challenge.
So I'll stick to closet shopping and I do have part of a closet dedicated to what I call travel/cruise clothing. I, also shop on Poshmark for "new with tags" items in my favorite brands (Talbots, Lands End, or Jones NY) or online Lands End knowing they will fit though I do have to shorten their pants.
Glad you were able to resurrect the Apple watch.
I know I am shrinking because I can no longer reach the upper shelves of my cabinets easily. My closet upper hang areas now require a step stool to comfortably hang up clothes. Shrinking means my BMI would be further skewed, so another reason to politely decline being weighed. It is what it is and they have now proven that dieting doesn't work. I eat healthy, could eat healthier, but as my mother used to say, "I used to eat to live, and now I live to eat." At my age I am not denying myself occasional pleasures.
reader425, what are your reading recommendations? I am reading some very old Josephine Tey mysteries since I like British mystery authors. Sorry your sego palm took a hit, but fingers crossed it sheds those yellow fronds and recovers. My DB and DSIL live in the FL panhandle and she sent photos of her snow covered plants: many palms and a camellia.
petite1, fingers crossed that your scan is clear. Better safe than sorry but I can identify with the anxiety these further tests cause. I try not to think about my MRI in March for the same reason. Just take a deep breath and know we have your back.
Did decide which slacks I will be taking and pulled them out of the closet, as well as some light- weight cotton sweaters placed nearby. I need to find some tees for days at sea or for some excursions since it will be hot. Still need to flesh this out more.
Waving hi to everyone I didn't mention and again, hope you have a good day.

I did forget to mention that on my last CBC panel, my MGUS was gone (though I still have a slightly low immune globulin level). So my heme-onc has discharged me from her care.
Karen, if you're lurking here, our Lyft driver last night was a "Beta Israel" Ethiopian whose kids made aliyah and are living & working in Beersheba. (I immediately thought of your daughter). It was delightful to hear not just "thank you" as we exited but "todah rabbah."

The moment of grace comes to us in the dynamics of any situation we walk into. It is an opportunity that God sews into the fabric of a routine situation. It is a chance to do something creative, something helpful, something healing, something that makes one unmarked spot in the world better off for our having been there. We catch it if we are people of discernment.

Petite, sorry about your Bird of Paradise. I see icy spots out on the lawn this morning but it will be warming up. DH had his surgery yesterday and I was told everything went well. He stayed overnight and I came home. It was a long day for both of us since there was a delay at the surgery center and he wasn't taken to surgery until about 1 pm. We were there at 9 am as instructed. All we were told was that one of the doctor's surgeries went much longer than planned.
DH will be discharged today and I will bring him home. Wish us both a good recovery. I'm sure week one will be a challenge for both of us.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and concern.

petite1, don't pull the bird of paradise out. See if it will survive since the roots are underground or if in a pot, somewhat protected. I thought my one hibiscus was a goner but it defied all expectations, came back and bloomed again.
We are still in the deep freeze, it was 15 when I looked at 7 am and it is now 16.5 degrees at 8:45. Regan's barking woke me at 7:15 because she needed to go out. She is all business at that hour of the morning though I had to encourage her to go "pee" before I would let her back in.
Got appointments for Covid vaccines at 3 today for both of us at CVS. Could have gotten them yesterday but we plan on getting the shots, hitting the grocery store and then going to dinner since they are all in close proximity to CVS. We have lots of gift cards for Bonefish Grill so we'll head there.
I made corned beef specials for dinner this week and they were so good. I want to pick up some more and make Reuben's since I have swiss cheese and sauerkraut.
Remembered that cotton sweaters need to dry flat and be reshaped after washing so they will not go on cruise. I don't want them to shrink so I will find some light weight ones that are a blend and dryer safe. Dinners, other than specialty dining or dress up nights, are more casual now. They still ban shorts but I just took a couple of blouses that I used if we were on cruise days, otherwise it was whatever I had worn for excursions since we were usually returning within 30 minutes of our dinner seating. In the past it was quite hectic to dash back to your room to wash up and change for dinner. Looking forward to not having to live out of a suitcase or repacking every other day.
More closet shopping today in travel closet to try to finalize excursion versus sea days plus dress up nights. I always seem to pull out more than I need and then cull as I am doing the final packing. I bought a new pair of silver shoes to replace the wedges I had that the heel constantly slipped. Not comfortable to feel like you are going to lose your shoes with every step. I had a matching black pair as well, with the same issue, so they will go to DSIL who loves getting shoes I have barely worn. I've worn the black ones maybe 4 times and the silver ones once.
On one of our trips I met a woman who shopped Goodwill for clothes for her trip, mostly tops. She wouldn't buy anything over $5 and then threw them away or left them in the room for adoption. She only traveled with one bag and then was able to just take home whatever she purchased. It worked for her but I am not sure the trade off would work for everyone.
Reader, we were in Paris in the fall. We had dinner on the Eiffel tower and my favorite trip was to L'Orangerie to see the Monet's. The vendors will try to soak you for $10 if you are in to souvenir baseball caps, do not pay more than $6. I collect embroidered destination caps but realize they are all made in China. Loved Normandie as my Dad landed there at a later date. What excursions do you have available to you? If one to Giverny is offered, it is wonderful if you are a gardener, especially if you will be there in the spring.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Sorry I disappeared for a bit.
I went to see the plastic surgeon about the revision on my water balloon. They agreed that it must be uncomfortable, and that it IS ugly. They set a date, and even gave me a bottle of Hibiclens. It will be three weeks before they get the prior approval. I told them the history of my weight loss, and they agreed that I am not likely to regain it so long as I have my dog.
Tippy now has nine buttons. We often talk about events that have already happened. I am thinking about a past tense marker, but first we need "Mama" and "Tippy". I also got a label maker. Will show you his board later. He is now taking 1/4 tsp of Miralax.
Plant loss due to cold weather. I can understand your pain. I am again getting some sunlight through north-east facing windows.
Carole, I will be praying that hubby's recovery will run smoothly. Up and down four steps is required before release.
Sandy, my medical driver company employs African immigrants, mostly Catholic. I think I am going to get the same driver on a consistent basis. We vented about Trump most of the way there and back. My systolic blood pressure at the Dr office was 110. I think it was a result of having vented.
My Fitbit, I think, is dead. I am not wearing anything on my left wrist. My sleep, I think, is pretty stable now, so I don't need it anymore. Since adding magnesium to my bedtime meds, I know I have been having more dreams, with very little upsetting content.
Petite, prayers that next Monday goes well.

Happy Sunday to everyone. Going to be warmer here again today. Hope a lot more of the drive-way ice goes. Can't believe how long it has HELD out there. Then again by the time the warmest rays of the sun have come, the big four car garage we have is casting a lot of shadows — so early in the morn it looks like an ice rink in front of the garage. Out here where we live (although on this property it is not the case) people sometimes put their garage in front of their houses so as not to block their view of the lake. We don't have any real lake behind us but the garage is in front anyway.
Chris, glad you are back. I'm glad there is good agreement with your medical issues. Sometimes that seems iffy and you have to go through a lot of song and dance to get on the same page.
I concur about Tippy. As well, I'm all for a campion who is almost agreeable most of the time and the sassy talk-back minimal. It's why I love animals. They don't talk back much and when you converse with them they often listen attentively and sometimes even nod at the right places. Also, they don't tell on you if you happen to get into a gripe session about what a friend or neighbor may have done that upset you, or even another family member. They are super at keeping secrets.
I was amused at your venting session but I applaud your being able to feel you could. Sometimes we just need to let loose. Look for a pm from me later.
I go tomorrow for my hair appt. I'm looking forward to it. Haven't had my hair done since Beth, my salon lady passed away. She had her first cancer several years after mine. At the time I wondered about things since she was having therapies first to shrink her tumor so she could have her lumpectomy. Sadly, within the three yrs. just after, her cancer returned. She made it through a yr. or so of chemo but then problems developed, and the answer was many many thousands and she didn't have that sort of funds. Within just a short while she was gone. So, I've held off.
My daughter came home the other day with an address and name of a somewhat newer salon and said she had talked to a person who had hair much like mine, but also this person had very damaged hair. By what I don't know. She talked about the fabulous cut she had. So, I decided I'd give the person a crack at it. I have thin, fine hair which has always been a problem to me. Exacerbated by the fact that I am on the somewhat homely side, and don't use make-up since I don't see well to apply it. I can always go back to Beth's salon if I don't think it has been worth it. I know its not the best indicator by far, but I do note that the perms at the new place are $27.00 higher than Beth's salon — so I'm thinking anyone who goes to The Refinery has a right to expect that the stylists there are pretty up on how to handle people who don't have easy to work with conditions in their personal hair make-up. Here's hoping.
Then the next day it's once again time for Lil'Red to go to the Doggie beauty shop.
Hope you all have a good day, decent weather and as few worries as possible.

Jackie, my hair stylist has gone up to $35 for a haircut, which is on the low end of the price spectrum. I'm fortunate to have thick hair with body. My mother still had lovely hair when she passed at age 96.
We had a rough night. DH didn't sleep well which means I didn't sleep well. He moved from the bed to the recliner in the living room during the night. The home health nurse is here now asking him questions that should be on his medical record. The therapist will be coming next. After he leaves, I'll make dh some breakfast.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

I have a large white bird of paradise. I did lose some large stalks (like tree trunks) to hurricane Ian, but some survived and have thrived. Birds love them, bees too. Petite, I’d let yours go a while to see if it comes back.
Reader, did your sego palm survive?
Sandy, belated happy birthday! Dinner sounded great. Heating not so much, but seems progress was made with the owners help.
Jackie, my dad always kept the heat at 72, no changing it. Good luck with your hair cut! I used a new person in FL and will likely go back to her again.
Chris, my Fitbit dies yearly. I used to think it was from the pool, but I’ve come to believe 1 year is its life.
Betrayal, best to shop what you’ve got. I like the Goodwill shopper, I’ve never cruised and wouldn’t want to invest in cruise wear.
Carole, glad surgery went well for dh. But dang, the not sleeping affects the whole house. Hope you both get a good nights rest.
Yesterday I started gathering items for the 2/8 garage sale. So much left from previous owners I’ve kept but really don’t need. I hope to get rid of it. What doesn’t sell will go off to be donated. Partner dug out dirt from alongside the AC pad; trimmed banana trees; and took out dead stuff from the bird of paradise - cleaned it out and trimmed it back. It was sunny with a high if 60, so good working weather.
It’s 69 now with full sun, high should be 73. I did get a walk in when it was 61, came back it was 64. Future days I’ll no longer be able to dilly dally in the morning if I want to get a walk in before temps kill me.I’ve got a bloodwork appointment tomorrow at 11:15, checking thyroid. I’ll bring a book. My audio book finished yesterday soon after I started walking. Started a new audio book on today’s walk.
Plans for today are to possibly grill a steak, if I remember to get it out if the freezer. And football! Tough choices on who will win, I think all these teams are tough to beat. Enjoy your Sunday!
