Thank goodness MC. I'm no longer in mourning for the "broken" egg. You know, it sounded 'right' after reading it. Anyway, here's hoping that all else is fine with the 'three' eggs.
Good afternoon. I went to work today despite the 'back' and I can't say I feel better yet, but I certainly don't feel worse. I hope it is the result of my aspirin therapy. Using hot and cold at times as well.
Glad to have a couple days off although there are always things to do here. Nice part is that I don't have to do them with major gusto. I can just plod along.

LD422 - Ken has had a pacemaker for 14 years - in fact he's already had it replaced once. I think they only work for d-fib, not a-fib but I have no medical background other than being married to a surgeon. I am extremely frustrated. He called last night about 6 and said he had been discharged. No discussion with me about discharge planning and I think he needs to go to a rehab rather than have home health care and PT a few days a week. He's still getting IV drugs and thinks he's only been walked as far as the bathroom 3 times. That may be correct or not, but either way it suggests that he is not ready to be in my care. He was mentally capable and walked 4-5 miles a day until last Friday night. At least I made enough noise to get the discharge orders cancelled. I don't think I could get him out of the car and into the house much less manage his pain medications. So that's my rant for the night! Going to walk Mutz and try to get some sleep.

What I know about a-fib will fit into a thimble with plenty of room left over, so I just "assumed" a pacemaker might help. Sorry!! I need to try not to give medical advice on the internet, lol.

Cloudy outside but then we have rain in the forecast for the next several days. Just hoping we don't get too much. The gray will be not so welcome by me.
The above quote is a repeat which I often do. This one is special to me as it was never more true for me then when we moved back home here. In 1996 my dad passed away and Mom brought him home to bury him and chose to stay -- only returning to Calif. long enough to handle her move. The moment she left Calif. it no longer felt like home to me.
Something kept ( mentally ) urging me to come back home as well. I felt like my Dh would resist and put it off. The persistent feeling ( idea/soft but insistent voice ) just kept going. Finally when I thought I'd have to likely cry and plead for the next 6 mos. minimum, Dh thought it over for a couple of minutes and said, ok. Fine. We'll do it. Well, we were able to buy a house here long distance, sell our very little and old mobile home for a great price, hire a moving company that was extremely reasonable, and move here all in less than 6 mos. It is really how those things we are really supposed to for sure do turn out.I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday.

DH has a pacemaker that keeps his heart pumping but doesn't do anything for a heart attack. My niece's husband had a cardiac arrest. His implant would shock him when his heart stopped. He was much younger than DH, so that may have had something to do with the different kinds. DH's heart would just stop beating and he would pass out. The halter monitor didn't pick it up, but the implanted one showed what was happening right away. His cardiologist showed us the print out. I see why they call it flat lining.

Ken seems have turned a corner and the plan is to move him to rehab tomorrow or Monday (according to his surgeon, it depends on whether they can get "transportation" on a Sunday). It seems to me that it would be cheaper and he could get the care, mainly PT, he currently needs to get his strength back if they would pay the overtime to move patients on the weekend. Neither the hospital nor the rehab are small places. I live in a large suburb of Phoenix, not some rural area north of the Grand Canyon. If someone could get him in and out of my car, I could even drive him to the new place which Is less from a mile from the hospital but of course they couldn't let me do that. It would have also been cheaper in the end, if PT had started the day after surgery, not today with one short walk and maybe no PT tomorrow. End of tonight's rant!

Taco, that is good news and now I'm hoping that rehab gets started as soon as possible. Sigh !!! Is it a covid thing that everything seems to have odd delays not making much sense.
We are starting into better weather today as far as temps. Does seems like some muted some as well. A little wet on the windshield yesterday but for the most part minor. I'll be glad for the slightly warmer temps anyway. 70's and 80's. Lower 80's hopefully.
Back is still requiring aspirin. Maybe I'll have to consult the PCP and get some help. We'll see. Have to see the Urologist tomorrow. Guess we will set up a time to go to the hospital for the "kidney/bladder scope".

It is gray today and good chance of rain. At least it will be warm enough. I will have to hope that the gray doesn't stay too long. Nothing much going here. Last night I had a really good night. All night w/o my back hurting. Seemed to have re -awakened this a.m. Hoping maybe it is on the way to getting better and more stable.

Good morning. It is a pleasant morning, so far. Just curious, since the CDC state those that have completed their vaccines can go maskless, has anyone gone without their mask. I went into the Dollar General without the mask, but I was the only one. The next day I went to Publix and 75% of the shoppers had masks. Yesterday I went back to Publix and it was about 50%. Of course no one is saying "Show me your Vac Pass." Just your thoughts and experiences.

I haven't written in a long time. Doing school long distance, daily, has thrown me for a loop. Plus all the things needing attention at FL house have been keeping me busy.
I had started a list a week or more ago, so I could address each person who posted, but it got thrown out at some point. I've missed birthdays, hospitalizations, illnesses too. Hoping Keywestfan is in Key West and doing fine. Hoping Petites husband gets some relief, its been too long with those headaches, and I know that it hinders your sleep too. Tacos husband, it's a good thing you spoke up! Welcome to new members too.
SWFL hot as could be, although humidity recently dropped a lot. I've been keeping up with a bike ride every morning around 9 AM, 2 speedy loops around the development (about 2 miles). Then late in the evening 7-8 PM we both go for a zoom around once. I think I'm about 10 pounds heaver than I was in May of last year, so I need the exercise. Sitting in front of a computer screen M-F vs working out hard for an hour M-F takes its toll. School ends June 25th. I think I'm looking forward to it more than I did as a kid!!
We leave next Sunday to return to NY. Packing up and cleaning up on Saturday. I'll miss the bike rides, but will substitute the rowing machine for it. I'll be glad to get the NY pool open, screen house up, and get my planters full of flowers. I'm looking to be back to this house in early November, at least that is what I told the post office for forwarding my mail!
PS - being in south west Florida our beaches are now contaminated by red tide. Releasing water from Lake O, into the Caloosahatchee river, to flow out into the gulf is one of the worst thing that is allowed in this state.

Petite, I have gone "bare faced" selectively. At lunch with a group of vaccinated friends and yesterday teaching a genealogy class to a group of vaccinated people. Did wear a mask to the grocery store as they still had their sign up. Noted there were a few more than usual customers without masks, all employees were masked. Not getting rid of the masks I made, though. There are still places where we will need them.

I intend to continue to wear a mask at the grocery store and other public places. I'm not taking their word that they're vaccinated. Our county is mostly standing in line for the vaccine. To me, it was a no brainer. I'm too old to worry about long term side effects and old enough to be on the iffy side if I contract Covid. Actually, I think Kroger and Costco are requesting masking. I did eat out with my book club. Everyone was vaccinated and we were seated at a distance from other people. Wait staff was masked. We took ours off to eat but wore them to order and pay.
I have about 5 cut out and ready to sew. If my back ache would let up I would go ahead and get them done. Today, however, it's taxes.

First time on this thread, I think. Mask mandate still in effect in Calif. went walking outside with a friend no mask, only wearing when passing people on the same side of the street and in the busy downtown area near the restaurants with people sidewalk dining. Everyone in all stores this weekend still wearing masks, no change

Veeder, I assume that is your last name. I have read some New Amsterdam Dutch genealogies, and wonder if that is your (or your husband's) origin. I went to Mass yesterday, and for the first time mask-wearing was about 50/50.

I'm going to continue to wear a mask in stores/shops/post office/bank/etc. for the indeterminate future This is Texas after all and lots of people make it a point to go "unmasked" whether they are vaccinated or not. I won't be eating in a restaurant yet except maybe on a patio. I won't wear a mask outside but only if I can still have 6 ft of distance. Today I went to a friends house for a small B-day lunch. First time since this started. Six people and all were fully vaccinated. We'd planned to eat outside, but Mother Nature had other ideas.

I have been going maskless at the houses where I work as everyone has had their shots, including me. I still wear them at Walmart and other stores. I do not have to put them on at the Urologists ofc. I hate to admit that he buys into some of the conspiracies. I/Dh have just ignored ( though I grind my teeth a bit ) his sm. mention of things we know are not so. I'd really have to think about it all were he move vocal but he is not. He is otherwise a good Dr. and I feel reluctance to switch now. He has been honest about his old fashioned methods and happily referred me out to a surgeon who specialized in sm. incision robotically managed surgery. So far it has been a fair trade, but it is because we don't hear much from him. I really think ( though he checked that we had had shots first ) part of his thing is he wants to believe we didn't need so many precautions for so long. I recall not so long ago his making sure we kept far away from him and his nurse etc. only to turn fairly cavalier now that he thinks the government may have tried to put one over on him. I'd be amused but it is my own medical situation that is at play.
Otherwise we expect to use masks more than not. I'd love not too, but I think we have to wait for our state and county determinations on what is expected of us. I do think it sounded confusing sort of coming out of the blue from Pres. Biden a couple days ago.

CindyNY- Leaving Key West today, back to Evanston,Il. I do have such a love of Key West and its beautiful, somewhat seedy, most leafy streets, and always feel happy to be here. Like life, it’s wonderful, but mixed. It has been dazingly hot with high humidity, most uncomfortable. And I think we may be the oldest ever to be on this island. Hoards of young people, crowds everywhere lining the streets; of course, even before this weeks CDC statement, no one wearing a mask. Have still managed to walk well over 10k each day, but dripping and still feeling vulnerable from my “mechanical “ fall 5 weeks ago The food is wonderful, the restaurants inventive and fun, lizards and roosters running around. And freedom from doctors, dentist appointments, which will be galore when we return. Tomorrow, periodontist, then Friday, breast surgeon’s NP, then dentist and endodontist. So, this has been a most appreciated week.

DH continues to have headaches and now feeling cold, particularly feet and legs. He is very frustrated. He just took meds and went back to bed.so, today it was one at 2:54 and 9:00. The meds knock him out for a while. I pray this ends soon.

Keywestfan, so glad you have enjoyed your trip to Key West. We were Key West fans some years ago when it was quieter and probably more seedy. Then the Sunset ritual was popular but there weren't hordes of people. This was probably a good time to visit while the huge cruise ships weren't coming into port.
We had storms overnight and weren't aware of a tornado warning in our immediate area until those horrible noises from our cell phones woke us from sound sleep. This morning the news is full of pictures of flooding in the state.
We will be wearing masks less, depending on the situation. I wore one into the post office yesterday. It is very good news that the fully vaccinated are proving to be protected. With the vaccine so available, I can't feel too much sympathy for those who don't take advantage of the opportunity to be vaccinated. We are all responsible for taking care of ourselves as much as we can. I expect that a booster shot will be necessary within a year.
I have a friend older than I who has never had a flu shot. She takes one med for bp and prides herself on being healthy and fit. I think she's foolish not to be vaccinated but I have to admit she has done a better job of staying youthful than I have. She exercises several days a week in a gym, is a good golfer, and eats healthy. Who am I to advise her?
