Betrayal, I am so glad things are coming along for you.

I had fasting labs this morning. When I got home, I wanted to eat everything in sight. I am stuffed, now and will probably take a short nap.

Cindy, We had frost this morning. My poor yard.

A beautiful sun outside and it may get up to 60 today. Tomorrow as well. I love (who wouldn't) it when it is gorgeous like this. Did hear some negative news today. My hairdresser has had a return of her cancer. It is in her brain, bones, and lungs. It was a surprise to her as I think as she had just reached her five yr. mark, I think. Times go so fast I'm not sure. Anyway, she is very religious and maintains high optimism that she will come through okay. I wish I felt stronger about it. She is back to work and has once again shaved her head so that she doesn't have to go thru with the hair loss issues that are coming.

I'm getting ready to start visiting with my friends, Jo and Dr. B. again. Their daughter had covid (sounds like it was Omicron) but is over it now. She quarantined herself in the basement which was easy for her. Her bedroom, (one of five) is downstairs along with a generous living area and kitchenette. Nice bathroom and office space and she was able to work from home -- so I will not worry about going now.

Hoping you all have a fine day and lots of sun to keep you cozy outdoors.

I didn't get much sleep last night. My whole leg was hurting. I am expecting a neoprene knee brace in the mail today... my own money. I am staying off it as much as possible. I do have a small project for myself today. My client is being quiet, busy at work, I presume. I have another getting stuff ready to ship-- just my luck that both will appear at once, although they say no rush.

I am also getting an application for a different apartment in the mail in the next few days. I have my working copy from the previous application sitting on my table, ready for details.

Beaver Dam. Where my sister lives. More access to travel (major airport close by) and they have a camper. YMCA for doing my prescribed exercises, and I think free transportation, apartments have dishwashers. Better access to dental services.

Mary, I can see why you would like to move. So many plusses to it. Being near family would almost be enough for me. Dishwashers second followed by everything else. Here's hoping it doesn't take long. Good Luck.

Going to be our first warm day. Maybe rain already tonight. Ugg. Well, it is sort of normal behavior for this time of yr. We are hopeful that our SIL will soon be able to return home here. He will first drive cross country with his sister to Fla. and fly home from there. It has been a long time. He had to go right before Christmas to Calif. as his mom had a return of her cancer. The 4th. time for her. Sadly, she won't be with us much longer. SIL looks at our state as his real home. Much has changed in Calif. Even the weather is not nearly as pleasant as it once was with a lot more humidity cropping up. Fires seem far worse as well. So, he is anxious not for his mother to pass, but to get out of a state that he doesn't like and hasn't for some time. We are all quite anxious to have him back.

Day before yesterday I called the place where mom lived. The manager was very accommodating once I told her who I was. Their application is in the mail.

Mary - wow - lots of reasons to move! How could you not?

It's been snowing since 2pm and its now 7:15pm. It's supposed to snow till midnight. Wonder what will be with school tomorrow.

Everyone stay safe and stay warm.

Mary- fingers crossed you get into the new apartment.

We rented a boat with another couple and spent the day out on the water. It was so nice! I think I may get into a class on boating safety so I’ll be able to do it again with my niece and her daughter over Easter vacation. I’ve got some time before they’re here. It was 83 and we had a nice breeze so we were never hot.

Cindy, It was beautiful, yesterday. I took a long walk with BFF. It was very pleasant with wind coming in off the Gulf. It will get up to 82, today.

Mary, wishing you success with the move to a new location. I agree with others that it seems like a good idea.

Yesterday I cleaned the interior of my car. Instead of cleaning the outside, I decided to wait until after the rain in the forecast and go to a good car wash that's near by. Maybe tomorrow.

It's warm and gloomy here this morning. Cooler weather is supposed to be on the way.

The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. Carole, you are speaking my language. In the winter I go to the car wash but do try to find a nice day to do the inside of my car. My daughter has been using my car since before this past Dec. I borrow it now and then from her. So not doing it so much. She has done well keeping the inside good. She knows she better. She does not take it to the carwash because it makes her so edgy.

Rained all last night and still pouring on and off this morning. A lot of water standing out in the yard. We had a couple of sunny warm days but certainly not enough to dry out our already high-water table. I'll be glad when the rain stops. I have two big cats that insist on going out even though they get wet. They have to come in at night and stay indoors -- so they will face almost anything when morning light comes.

Nothing special today and especially not with this weather. Good time to curl up and have a nap or two which is generally easy when it rains.

Good morning. It was warm and sunny, yesterday. I was energized and got somethings done that have been put off. Today it is overcast with dense fog. Saturday is a little cooler and then a pleasant Sunday.

My lab results for the PCP came in and my Cholesterol was a little high. He will probably adjust my meds. MO is next week and more labs, DH is not doing well this morning. He got very angry at an acquaintance, yesterday, and his BP went through the roof. He did not sleep well at all. We just had cereal for breakfast and he has gone back to sleep. It is laundry day and the first load is going. I need to go to the library and a store run, then I may just read a book.

I move through my day-to-day life with a sense of appreciation and gratitude that comes from knowing how fortunate I truly am and how unearned all that I am thankful for really is. To have this perspective in my everyday consciousness is in itself a gift, for it leads to feeling "graced," or blessed, each time. . . . Every time I see beauty around me I appreciate what I am seeing, and simultaneously I have this sense of appreciation—for being alive to have this particular moment. -Jean Shinoda Bolen

petite, sorry to hear about your Dh's upset. Hopefully the issue will resolve enough to bring some peace of mind. Reading a book latter sounds like good therapy for a gray foggy day.

We had a light snow late yesterday. I'm trying a new recipe I found for home-made spaghetti sauce. It doesn't have much salt in it. That was the big draw. Doesn't have much for ingredients in it, but the instructions for cooking do say that it needs to be simmered for at least two hrs. and no less. I had to add water to keep it from drying too much. I did put in a bit more basil then called for and white pepper along with the regular pepper. Trial run tonight. I hope we are happy with it. I kept trying it and it did seem to improve with a long simmer cycle.

Not a lot planned for today, but some bills to pay. I think it will get up to 40 during the day with a good amt. of sun. That dusting may leave as quick as it came. Hope so. I'm done with the snow and will be more than glad when it is done with us.

83 here today and humidity feels high. All next week looks hot. So more pool hanging and not much work seems to be the plan. It may be crowded with kids on winter break. We’ll play it by ear.

Petite, hoping your DH calms and his bp resumes to normal. Illinois - hope your sauce comes out great. Mary, keep us posted on the apartment.

Tonight is a birthday celebration for our next door neighbor. We’re all meeting in his driveway to grill burgers and share some sides. Bring your own chairs.

Tomorrow we’re supposed to go to a casino for an outdoor, all day, concert with car show and some other perks. I’m hoping it’s not this hot & humid or I’ll melt quickly. I could always go inside and play the slots if it gets too hot out.

    Have a great weekend!

Mary, your plans for a new apartment sound fantastic so I hope all goes well. Will you still be able to garden?

Petite, hope DH's bp drops to a more reasonable range.

Cindy, love your weather and while we are to get into the 50's over the weekend, I'd like yours better sans humidity. Enjoy the concert, it sounds like fun.

Jackie, how did the spaghetti sauce turn out? I used to do this but hated the splatters I got so now I combine everything (including raw sausage and meatballs) into a large corning dish with lid and bake it for 90 minutes or more. I make the sauce using canned tomato sauce and puree, add the Italian spices, basil (and I like bay leaves), garlic cloves that I want but no salt other than what is in the canned sauces. I do the same with homemade chili. When I used to cook it on top the stove, I used to take the lid off and allow it to cool before refrigerating only to find one of my cat's dipping her paw into the sauce and licking it off. From the looks of things she had "double dipped" several times and perhaps had hooked herself a meatball? (there was a streak on the floor), so after that no cooling without a lid! She liked French green beans, too.

I heartily second your yay, petite. Sorry to hear your Dh is feeling so poorly. Hopefully, it will pass quickly, and he will be on the mend.

Have a bright sun outside and the light snow dusting is long gone. Just the way I like it for now. We will warm a bit in the coming days and that will be quite welcome. Not doing too much today. Daughter has the weekend off and hope they don't call her in. Seems like most weekends she goes for at least half a normal shift. Maybe she will get lucky and have her whole two days this time.

The sauce turned out pretty good despite the fact that I had to add water a few times to keep it from being too thick. Everyone liked it. Like I'm saying all three of us here. We used it for putting on hot dogs (quite good) and of course the spaghetti as well as having just enough left over to use for macaroni (slumgullion). Haven't tried that one yet, but I think no one will turn it down.

Now that I've pretty much followed the original recipe, I can substitute some spices but will only use 96% gr. beef. I used Hunt's Tomato Paste because it is no salt added, and there are some no salt added tomatoes. Didn't find those this time but since the original recipe didn't have a lot of ingredients, I knew I could be okay on salt level. I routinely 'adjust' recipes once I have made it to original directions so that I get a feel for what it WOULD taste like -- then I have a direction for changes. I will likely put more Italian style spices in this next time. Likely will stick to A version of this since this one can be easily adjusted for no or low salt. Using different spices (as long as they don't have too much salt) is the best way I know to cover up not using salt or making up for using a lot less.

ETA: I used a deep pot so I wouldn't splash. It worked okay the first night (not eating that night) but the nest night I did manage to splash on the stove, grrrr. I used to use the let it cool on the stove method too -- and quickly caught my felines trying to taste test the food. So, I too now routinely have to leave a lid on when cooling to make sure no one 'dips' in. I am fortunate that we have something of an open kitchen to the living room.....I have a sort of L shape to the foyer which L's to the living room to the right. The living L's to the kitchen to the left.

Good thing most of the time I've caught the feline part of our family before they could ruin anything left out. I keep a spray bottle of water handy to dissuade them from getting too rowdy around the table or counters. So far, so good -- but I don't tempt by leaving food too un-covered just in case I'm not looking at the right times.

Petite, I pray your hubby's illness resolves quickly.

Betrayal, no gardening privilege there. Sis has a large lot. I probably won't be gardening much this summer with my knee, but sis confesses to a brown thumb. Hopefully bil can churn up a nice-size garden at their place, and Laura and I can garden it together.

I got the application yesterday. Will photocopy it so I can send in a clean copy. Tippy is a bit over-weight for their restrictions, but I can plead lack of exercise and the length of time I have had him.

I made and canned spaghetti sauce last summer, with Mrs. Wage's packets. It probably is fairly low-salt, with my own tomatoes, peppers, and onions. Sausage is salty, but I just use hamburger, which is cooked ahead of time and frozen.

Going to make some star anise snickerdoodles today. I am checking every cookie recipe I make to be sure they are ok for Tippy. But I have already wasted half the day reading.

I used to make spaghetti sauce but now I use Rao's jarred sauce most of the time. I like it better than my own. It's pricey for cooking a big meal for a family but good for just two people. Now Sam's Club is selling it in multi packs.

I downloaded the Basic Turbo Tax this morning and did our federal tax returns. The program includes e-filing. The state tax return isn't due until May. The state web site has a user friendly online filing program similar to Turbo Tax and it's free. I had read that the federal tax web site has a free program but I decided to go with the familiar.

Now I will check out some of the Saturday cooking shows on PBS.

What we believe about ourselves can hold us hostage. Over the years I have come to respect the power of people's beliefs. The thing that has amazed me is that a belief is more than just an idea--it seems to shift the way in which we actually experience ourselves and our lives. According to Talmudic teaching, "We do not see things as they are. We see them as we are." A belief is like a pair of sunglasses. When we wear a belief and look at life through it, it is difficult to convince ourselves that what we see is not real. . . . Sometimes because of our beliefs we may have never seen ourselves or life whole before. No matter. We can recognize life anyway. Our life force may not require us to strengthen it. We often just need to free it where it has gotten trapped in beliefs, attitudes, judgment, and shame. -Rachel Naomi Remen

Due to be close to 60 today. I hope so. I just hope not to get too much wind. That will make it seem cooler. Nothing special today. Dh is wanting to go visiting to our friend's house. Dr. B and Jo. Maybe we will. I've veered between not wanting to 'take' anything with me that might make them ill. Mainly as Dh goes out here to do our shopping and daughter works as well. We have been fortunate so far as I furiously knock-on wood. I need to go to the beauty-shop and get something done with my hair. I have just put that off for pretty much the same reason. They have displayed a lack of care that anyone wear a mask at any time -- so I worry about it. With Omicron especially even some masks are not totally safe. Hoping though that as Omicron seems to be winding down, it might be okay. Also since Beth will be under-going chemo (if not doing it already) she will not want to take chances I don't think. I will likely give it a whirl. I can wear a mask if I want, and I will likely do that.

Mary -- I avoid sausage for the same reason. Too much salt.

We went up the casino for the outdoor concert yesterday. During a “pin up” contest we went inside to the casino. I put my $20 in a slot machine, and played 3 lines per time. I was down to $5 and thinking oh well, when I won $254. Cashed out and was back to our chairs for the next band.

Sandy - I haven’t seen you on here in quite some time. Did I miss something, a vacation possibly, in postings?

This coming week looks HOT. Our FLresidents love the heat, I enjoy it to a point. But the humidity that comes with it makes doing anything a chore. Like today I should have been out for my bike ride already, temps climb fast.
