We're having a two-day rainy season which is sure to bring on more mosquitos. This year they are really bad. I was planning to play solo golf for practice but have nixed that plan.
Yesterday dh didn't play golf because of rain. We went to the gym, had breakfast at West Forty restaurant, then went to the bank and to Walmart. Monday is Meatloaf Monday at nearby Clancy's Restaurant, so we went there for dinner with two other couples who are fulltimers in the campground for the summer. DH is a meatloaf fan. For me, Monday was No Cook Monday! Yay!
West Forty has a notice on the entrance door that they're closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. They're short of staff and can't find people to work. That's a common situation. We didn't ask about wages the restaurant pays. I left a generous tip.

Living mindlessly . . . takes an enormous toll. What we get from each
moment depends on the attention we give it, and the quality of our
experience reflects the quality of our awareness.

MC, thank you for your words. I was afraid to jinx myself so never owned up to how upset and acared I was about my sort of VERY slow recovery. I do think I did well immediately after surjury, but went downhill afterwards due to the un-treated anemia. I'm certain it was known about all along, but people were put in charge of my care at varying times and this anemia aspect was just sort of missed until my PCP ( such a blessing for me ) decided to force the issue of GETTING started with handling the problem. She blessed my decision to change Cardiologists and was in fact, all for it -- so easty transition to find the right heart Dr. and another blessing for me.
I think hereafter I should just go ahead and MENTION my fears. I'm always a bit afraid that I'll upset someone who is struggling with heath issues too. Silly I now think.
Going to be horrible hot again. Dh and I don't notice it in the same way as our kids or others necessarily. Recalling the yr. we first came home, walked to town ( we didn't live two miles from town then ) and had a wonderful time. Remarked at the time that it seemed so unusual to us ( we felt rather cool at the time ) no one was out and about downtown. Found a thermomenter and it was 96. Didn't feel bad to us having just come from Calif. Well, one yr. makes all the difference. By the next yr. already we were not walking downtown when it was 96 out. Being older now -- we are back to 'not feeling' as much but it is more dangerous now then it was then.
Hope you can all 'escape' the heat while doing what needs to be done. Have a good day.

Tied a record high yesterday - 99F! Only going to be in the low 80s today so very pleasant. Nice walk at 8:00 am -60F whereas the same time yesterday was 80F.
Still working in the under the stairs closet and feeling accomplished. Good place to be in the heat. The garage also needs tackling as well as the crawlspace.
Jackie - I echo what Mary said.
Carole - ugh mosquito! Thankfully we don't get too many here but there were biting last night.
Dental cleaning this afternoon, annual physical next week. My calcium has been a bit elevated so wondering if she'll be concerned. Last year or the year before it was high and she said to stay off Tums which I have - take Pepcid AC instead. Hope its nothing/
Everyone have a great day.

MCBaker: Glad that you were not injured when Tippy lunged and how you are able to calm him is wonderful. After my one dog was attacked and bitten by a neighbor's dog (in our own yard as well), she was forever afraid when another dog barked at her. All they want to do is escape what they perceive as a threat even if they can't be reached. You are a good dog mom.
Jackie, I think we all have a tendency to downplay our fears relating to our health, so you are not alone. Sharing our fears does not mean we are weak, just human. I know that it is hard to share our true feelings but on this forum, I think there are plenty who are willing to be supportive and caring. You did manage to find someone who is invested in getting you back on your feet and that is a blessing. Your PCP and cardiologist sound like they make a good team. We are here for you and each other in my estimation.
Petite1: you are right this disastrous restoration has been in play since November 2019. While the contractors I have hired to do long neglected and postponed outdoor work have been responsible, keeping to their/my schedule and including me in what needs to be discussed, the restoration company has been a real negative experience. I can't complain about the caliber of the work, just the horrible waits in scheduling the work that as of February 2020 was to "take 3-6 months, tops" and the lack of leadership from the project manager. Of course, there was a delay due to the Covid shutdown but the rest has just been on them. They are unapologetic about the delays as well. So if they had stuck to their original time frame, they would have been done in August 2020 and yet here we are in June of 2022 and still incomplete.
The steps are gone as is the walkway and they are excavating the new walkway today. There has been a change in the original plans due to logistics one cannot predict. The new steps were to be 4 feet wide since the front door is the only way for delivery people/movers to bring in or remove large furniture, etc. The township now mandated 2 guardrails and a handrail on the steps that for 37 years have had neither. So this reduced the width of the steps to less than what I had with no rail. Fortunately we were able to find 5 foot replacements on short notice (just yesterday in less than an hour) and this will allow more width. The curve I wanted in the walkway would mean that my beloved lilac that is about 45 years old, could be damaged or required to move. I don't want either to occur so the area at the bottom of the steps will need to be square which is okay. I will get a wide curve at the abutment with the driveway. Whatever else happens, the new steps and walkway will be the change I wanted and an improvement. They delivered the natural stone for the new lilac enclosure today and I think the pavers. Surprisingly, all this work including the floor refinishing is coming in under my anticipated budget which is also a plus given the economy. Nice to actually have one dream come true.

I just had the details for my surgery by phone today. It is on Thursday. I am going about my usual activities today, trying to not think about letting go of control over my body for a couple of hours in a couple of days. My mechanic is here, working on my bike in the neighbor's garage, while I am in the cool of my apartment. Temperature is supposedly peaking at 94 (1:30). At 4:00 PM the "feels like" will be 104.
I guess I will do some sewing now. I purged my apartment over the past few days, and a friend picked everything up for the church rummage sale. I feel like I have lost some weight.
0 -
Mary, I will be thinking of you Thursday. I'll be going back to Marion for the Podiatrist. Purging does make you feel like you're losing some weight. Good for you -- emptying out the warehouse.

Mcbaker - glad your getting the work done on your bike.
Betrayal - sounds like you have the crew from Green Acres doing your restoration. Hopefully they’ll finish the work this year.
It rained this morning and DH had a dentist appointment, so we walked this afternoon. It was 79, but felt like 85. High humidity. Walked 2 miles. PT said they would focus on my shoulder and expect that the doctor would discharge me from PT on my hip, when I see her in two weeks.
Cleaning and starting to pack for our beach trip next week. Enjoy your day

Hoping everyone’s health issues are on the upswing and Mary, that you do well through and after surgery.
Purging things is lightening the soul. I’m trying to get reorganized back in NY house. Donated a lot of clothing and sneakers. Now having people take back their stuff, get it out of my space. I’ve lived here way too long, and kept way more than necessary.
My latest purchase was 4 new cushions for the patio table/chair set. They were faded but we spend more time in the screen house than out at the table. So I was going to let them be for another season. We’ll, a squirrel tore one cushion apart for the stuffing, guessing to line the nest. I was not amused!
Stay cool and hydrated! 82 here and if you stay in full sun it’s hot. Otherwise it feels great.

Cindy: Not a duct tape moment for the cushion? Guess the squirrel felt they needed to be replaced and why waste good stuffing? Cooler day today but humid after a downpour this AM.
My Dad used to have a running battle with squirrels that stole seed from his bird feeders. Unfortunately they were in trees so there was not much that could be done when they raided. We used to laugh at his rants and one year I gave him a squirrel statue to yell at during the winter since the porch was unheated.
We have a very young buck who visits the yard and it seems he is growing his first antlers. Right now each looks like the letter "Y" perched on his head. He is so small he will be no competition for the very large buck that we usually only see during rutting season. Haven't seen any fawns yet but the mature does have not been around to raid the bird feeder.
Mary, I hope all goes well pre- and post-op for your surgery. Will you have it done as an outpatient or have to stay in the hospital. I find with the new format here I lose track of some info because this forum moves fast. Backtracking is difficult since load time is still slooooooow. I am hoping that someday we will not have excessively large margins on the left, the background will be less glaring, and the font size larger. Seems this update is following the same path as my home restoration... poorly supervised with major delays in finishing.

Wishing you the best results with your surgery, Mary.
Looking forward to photos, Betrayal.
Warm and muggy isn't as miserable as hot and muggy at home in Louisiana, but I'm hoping more pleasant weather returns to Minnesota.
Happy Hour over on Mary's deck was somewhat bizarre yesterday afternoon. Mary and Lyman bought a large pergola for their deck. It has been a spectacle watching it erected. It has a cloth curtain and a net curtain that can be drawn on all sides when needed. Otherwise the curtains are held at the corners with bands. The net curtain was drawn when we went over at 5 pm, our cocktail time. Seven people, including Mary and Lyman, were already seated. The enclosed place made the grouping more intimate than being gathered on an open deck. The net curtain was helpful in keeping out mosquito visitors. I'm waiting to see whether Mary is pleased with the change. Life for Mary includes a lot of grumbling in her quest for perfection.
DH will be playing men's league golf today and I will go to the gym.
Happy Wednesday to all.

Heating up quickly here today, highs in the upper 80s and thunderstorms later this evening. Almost summer.
Sending you healing vibes and prayers for your surgery tomorrow Mcbaker. Will be thinking of you.
Heading to PT later this morning and then more cleaning and packing. We've somehow misplaced a backpack we use for the beach to carry our beach towels. We probably left it at last years beach rental.Oh well.
Enjoy your day

I think I will leave the AC and dehumidifier on for the next few days. With all the storms going through the humidity is very high, and it works hard to catch up after I close up the apartment. It is supposed to be a day surgery.
I think my mechanic is in deep cahoots with my brother. He wants it to be set up perfectly. I gave him a brief autobiographical talk and he gave me his, so fear of a relationship is not going to be a problem. Probably not romantic, but partnership will be good.
My most recent customer is returning to USA, so I will be getting paid and sending another box.

Our a/c is running well this a.m. You know it is hot or soon will be when the a/c ( even if not so much ) runs through the night. Something that didn't happen much until this week. Mary, I would dedfinitely not turn of that air. It is hard to get humidity controlled when you turn off the air for a length of time. We do let animals in and out so let a lot of humidity in, but we try.
We are set at 78. So, coming in from outside -- you have an almost too cold sensation for a while. It evens out after a short while, but I guess that is what makes it tolerable. It also makes a/c more affordable. My mom used to keep it at 80 which I would likely do if my family would not rebel.
Going to help my friend with her house today. I'll be going slow. Tomorrow another trip to Marion for the Podiatrist. I'm going to have to try and combine any trips there. In the space of 4 days I put over $70.00 in my gas tank -- mainly due to going to Marion Tues. The car had been used to run around town for a variety of things so I filled up to go to Marion, and then re-filled when I got back.
Anyway, I hope you all stay as cool as you can and can limit your need to be out to the cooler hours.

I feel for everyone dealing with too hot weather. Having lived in Houston, I vividly remember how miserable it could be. Our high yesterday here in Seattle was 63 and we're hoping to get up to 66 today. Talk about sulking tomato plants.

The FL house when empty we leave it at 80. When we’re in it we keep it at 74. And yes when we come in on real hot days from outside, it feels down right COLD. But the body adjusts quickly.
It’s 84 and sunny here right now. I should have been out enjoying it in the pool. But I had our roofer come check one of the bedroom walls. I discovered lines, like water marks, all down one wall. Not being here who knows what happened. He leans towards an ice damn, or condensation. Either way, the roof and shingles looks fine and it’s just one more thing we need to keep an eye on.
Chiropractor muscle therapist appt at 4. So I did some indoor puttering and will leave for it soon

For some reason, I fell off the forum and had to fill out personal information, again. Of course I had forgotten dates and specifics, but at least I got back on.

Imagine your mind as a garden and thoughts as the seeds you plant. Habitual
negative, unhealthy, self-critical thoughts produce the weeds and thistles of
depression, discontent, and anxiety in the garden of your mind. Luckily, the
opposite is also true. Consistently planting positive, healthy, constructive
thoughts will yield a crop of beautiful feelings, such as gratitude, love, and joy.

Petite, glad you got that straightened out. I'm wondering about 'oddities' too. Now when I sign in, I get tossed to a page that tries to hold me captive till I fill out some profile information. I had my 'profile' on here since almost day one, back in 2007. I sent a note to the mods but you never quite know. I hope I don't have to refill actual profile information because I would not be able to recall most of it now either. Been through quite a bit in the last 15 yrs.
I do recall, coming here was my first experience with a 'blog'. I taught myself on my computer -- so while I struggled with many aspects of it, getting on the blog was as things go, fairly easy. I think it had more to do with how much I NEEDED it. I did have a bit of a time learning how to make it a favorite so it would be easier to get back to.
Will be another sweltering day here. Not sure when this 'heat wave' will break, but I'll sure be glad when it does. I overdid it a bit yesterday. I think I got a mite dehydrated. Checked my blood pressure right before supper ( that I didn't much want ) and it was 77/44. Got some water down and finally got it going back the other way. Feeling good this morning.
We will go to the podiatrist today -- so another sort of off day.
Hope you are all holding up after the heat. Thinking of you MC and hoping all is well.

Tippy is going to be playing with three other dogs today. I miss him already. We had a tornado yesterday. Tippy was a shivering mess. I finally got a chair and picked him up and we sat in a closet for fifteen minutes, with me petting him. I have surgery at 12:15, so plenty of time to wash clothes and the dishes. Petite, good to see you back.

Best of luck with surgery today Mcbaker. Thinking about you today. ❤️
I have also noticed that we get put into a informational page when we log-on. Figure it's a new update. Takes several clicks to get to topics. Guess I'll notify Mods. If my profile disappears I should be able to recreate most of it. I kept a log of my diagnosis and treatments. Other stuff I'd be able to look up in mychart. It's annoying though to have to recreate the information again petite.
Took an early morning walk around the lake in our neighborhood. It's been several months since I've been able to do that walk so it was nice to to be able to. Saw lots of birds and rabbits.Lunch with my brother and SIL today. Will be nice to see them.
Enjoy your day.

I too keep getting tossed and locked into a circle of hell trying to get to my favorites. MODS take note, this site isn’t getting any better it’s only getting worse.
Mary - glad you & tippy survived a tornado! Good luck today, keeping you in my thoughts.
Jackie - your bp was startling low. I hope it levels off in a good rangeGloomy and 65 today, rain predicted around 8 pm. I’ve got my first PT appt at 2 pm with a new group my orthotic doc recommended. This is still for the hamstring, surgery was 8/10 of last year. But my back bothers me from all the body changes. I think it hurts more than the hamstring. Such is life!

I've been having the same profile problem. They had those dates in the past, why did they erase them? I wanted to add my stage IV diagnosis, but finding those other dates involves moving furniture to go to the notebook that has them. I may get around to that someday.
I have to decide today whether to take Ibrance with an enormous copay or something that starts with a K (I was on the phone and couldn't get it written down) that is quite affordable with the possible side effect of hand and foot blisters. I have no idea what to do and they want to know by noon so I can pick up the drug tomorrow. The cheap one is twice a day with food, 12 hours apart. That will take some figuring out.

The surgery went well. Odd to be wearing a pad at 72. Hopefully it will heal up fine and banish the embarrassing secret. Doctor said that something can be done to get my vagina back into pleasing working order, should I want it.
The dog-sitter has cameras watching the dogs, who were in the basement. He did not have fun. Sat watching the stairs almost all the time. She lifted him over the fence and gave him to me. I put him on the ground and tried to hook the leash on, he got nasty and accidentally broke my skin. I gave up and he was at the door of our apartment before I was. He was probably offended that I expected him to run around the neighborhood.
My bike mechanic will be over at nine, so I had better get dressed and ready to help.

Mary - glad to hear that the surgery went well. Sorry about the doggy bite.

So much for a cool summer in MN. The temperature for Sunday is forecast to be 100 degrees. Saturday in the 90's. We're waiting to see whether it's windy tomorrow. If it is, we will probably skip the Farmers Market.
I played with the women's league yesterday. It was cool but so windy I felt exhausted by the time we were finished. I'm the worse golfer in the group but the biggest winner last Thursday. Longest putt took one prize and fewest putts took the prize for the event. I think the total was $9. It will take a while to get rich playing golf!
Yesterday I had a chip in and was rewarded $3.50. Next Thursday we'll learn who won the event. The woman who took over running the league tries to come up with events that make it fair since few people have handicaps.
Haven't decided whether I'll go to the gym or take a walk for exercise.
Mary, yay for a succcessful surgery. Jackie, stay hydrated.
So far I'm not having problems with the site. Fingers crossed.

Mcbaker - glad your surgery went well. Hope your recovery goes smoothly. Hope the dog bite is ok.
It's hot here today. It was 80 when we got up. High around 90. I guess I'll ride the recumbent bike for exercise today.
I use to play golf Carol. I wasn't any good and we mostly played Par 3 county owned courses. I'm pretty short, so I ended up using junior clubs. If I can get my shoulders working again, maybe I'll try to go to the driving range. DH use to play frequently with my brother when they both worked.

Mary, so glad the surgery went well. Poor Tippy probably felt abandoned.
It’s 80 and should hit 84, so we plan on getting in to clean the pool. Tomorrow’s high is 66. If we don’t get in the pool today we most likely won’t be in again for another week when temps are good and no rain predicted.
Funny story, last night we were supposed to get a major storm. It was extremely windy all day. I watched the radar and figured it was now or never to get seed out on the front lawn. God son tore it up plowing this past winter. I run out, wind whipping me, seed blowing from my hand. I didn’t put it in the spreader, just the bag and my hand. Did what I wanted and got back inside before …a very little bit of rain fell. I’ll need to set up the sprinkler today.
Same with yard waste pick up. I heard the truck go down the side street, dead end. I race thru the house to the back yard, ready to drag out the barrels. Zoom zoom, they’re empty.
Calls and texts today - hiring someone to paint 2 upstairs bedrooms. He’ll be over next week to give me an estimate. Also called for soft washing my house. Had to admit my power washer can’t reach the peaks or the dormer sides. He’s getting me an estimate by the end of the day. Hoping it’s reasonable
