Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

Jackie, it's 60 degrees here in north MN this morning. The gentle rain on the roof top of the camper was so soothing that I didn't get up until 7:30. Our summer is coming to an end. We will be heading south after the leaves turn. Usually that's the first week in October.
Best wishes to all those dealing with injury or bad health.
I admired Queen Elizabeth but am already tiring of all the tv coverage.

Our days are starting out in the low 60s, then heating up to the upper 70s/low 80s. Wonderful beginning of fall.
DD, son-in-law and Piper are scheduled to be released from the hospital this afternoon. We live an hour away and plan to swing by Costco for a few things and stay for dinner. Tomorrow we’ll pick up groceries for them and go earlier in the day. Excited to see them and meet my granddaughter.
Hope everyone has a healthy and pain free day.

We are back to more sunshine, but so far ( I'm crossing my fingers ) we have not had any super heat. A bit of humidity, but when it is not too hot, the humidty isn't as bothersome to me. All in all, we have had an odd summer. There were only a slight few days, mainly intermingled somewhat, that were really wamer to the point of discomfort. I'm hoping this that we are having now just carries over into full Fall.
Carole, I am a bit like you. Hearing almost nothing but the U.K. and Queen Elizabeth is just as wearing as when one of our high-ups gets all day coverage for several days. It is all right with me that extra recognition is given and I understand and even approve, but other things are going on in the world and it would be nice if every hour or two, some time get devoted to some of the news we would ordinarily hear.
Otherwise, going to go over and visit my cousin -- their garden is bursting with tomatoes and they need someone to help eat them. There are some tomato sandwiches in my future I do think. If carefully done -- even a BLT could happen. One of my favorite sanwiches.
Had my phone appt. with Dr. Ruben. She is happy with how things are going. She would like to get the Carvedilol upped a bit more, but feels like we should give me another month on it as she upped it slightly before and while I was able to take the higher dosage of Losartan, the Carvedilol seems a bit trickier. Anyway, on that appt. I will go into Marion for it. She is aware ( although gas prices are coming down fairly good right now ) that I do not get travel allowance. ( I'm considered far enough away to be assigned and out of clinic service here where I live ) but not apparently far enough to get travel pay so she does me the favor or a phone visit every other time.
Hope you are all having a great day.

Sandy, using tape on that joint might just prevent it from slipping as much. I'll call and ask for a referral. At this point, anything that will delay replacement is a good idea.

Mary, another possibility is getting fitted for an "unloader brace." (Assuming of course that your main problem is incipient bone-on-bone OA). What it does is shift the weight to the "condyle" (the half of the knee joint) with more remaining cartilage. It bought me an entire year before my R TKR. My insurance covered it (as will Medicare). The rep (or your ortho's trainer) uses a form with moving plastic pins to make a "mold" of the joint (much comfier than taking a plaster cast, but that works too). I was even able to choose the color I wanted: purple metal-flake. (Almost went with the candy-apple red). You can wear it over or under slacks, or under skirts--there are adjustable Velcro straps much like those on a walking cast-boot. You can still fully articulate (bend) your knee, but the weight is shifted off the more painful section. I even wore it under my slacks in the Bar Show--choreography & all. Nobody was the wiser.

No, before the accident, Thanksgiving last year, I had minimal arthritis in that knee. Cartilege was OK. Had never had problems wit that knee.

Quite a nerve-wracking day yesterday.I’m having total left hip replacement Monday, the 12th, and am freaked and in dread and terror. Yesterday, Friday, had to go to Skokie Hospital for Covid test and for yearly mammo and first ultrasound for dense breasts. The timing of the coming up hip replacement and scanxiety was hard on my already revved up nervous system. Mammo, ultrasound okay. But, having trained as a medical librarian before becoming a social worker, I read numerous scientific articles on estrogen depletion and Osteoarthritis of the hip and knee and became convinced that Arimidex had caused cartilage destruction so that hip replacement is necessary. I’ve been off Arimidex for 3 months, after 3 years, but am to go back on after surgery for 2 more years. Scared of that, scared of not taking it,feeling sorry that all this has occured. Have to be at hospital 5:15 am, surgery 7:30. Have a wonderful surgeon, O’Rourke, who uses the posterior approach, with all its difficult to follow 4 month precautions, against dislocation instead of the anterior approach which has an easier recovery and no restrictions, because of better visualization as where to place the implant. Eeek!

On life's journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter,
wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection
by night. If a person lives a pure life nothing can destroy him or
her; If one has conquered greed nothing can limit one's freedom.

Wow, so much to read giving me so many questions! (A good thing, not bad.)
Mary, I am so sorry to read about your bike accident last year, and your recent fall. I have different knee issues, but one thing I do know, knee issues hurt!
As many of you said, I too am not a fan of so much coverage about the Queen. That said, I have had it with politics too. I live in PA, a battleground state and the ads on TV are nasty. I am currently reg. as a Democrat, (was Republican most of my life) DH is a Republican, (the old school kind) but after the fall election, I am switching to PA's version of "Independent." I can't help but think that most voters are more moderate. I just want to vote for whoever seems like they will do a good job, not necessarily which party they are affiliated with. I also hate that the two sides seem to always butt heads, because you never know when someone else has better idea. The reason I bring this up is that while I am not fond of "Queen" news, it would just be more political news where I live, and I hate that even more! I am glad to be "old" now, but fear what the world will be like for my children and grandchildren. I still believe most people are kind, caring and have good will.
Sandy, I am so interested in that brace you mentioned. I have OA in right knee, also my knee slips. I did weeks of therapy, worked really well, but now it is happening again. I am trying to fit in the exercises, but with work and my mastectomy/expander surgery coming up Oct 12th, I can't seem to focus on both health issues. Ugh! Breast first, then knee.
illinosislady, I take Carvedilol too. I also take Quinapril HCTZ , (not from manufacturer in the news a few months ago). When I had my left mastectomy in 2019, I was told the morning of the surgery to take the Quinapril, not the Carvedilol, which surprised me.
keywestfan, so you were a Social Worker? Did you work in a hospital? I had one who helped me beyond belief, when I had my last surgery. I can honestly say I don't know how I would have gotten through it all without her! My surgeon, who went on to be the Dean of a major medical school in Phila, that also is affiliated with the cancer hospital I went to, denied me a bilateral surgery. The emotional mess I went through was huge. I was also still in shock of getting a new breast cancer after almost 16 years. I wish I could at least tell this former surgeon that thanks to him, I now have it in the other breast! Sadly, he passed away last year. He was kind but told me it was against hospital policy to remove a healthy breast. My October surgery is at a local hospital, which I feel so much better about! I am considering asking my nurse navigator if she can set me up with a Social Worker before my surgery, because while I have no current anger issues about what happened in the past, and I feel positive moving forward, I am not in pain now. Mentally I am good now, although I have had some waves of anxiety over the thought of going through all this yet a third time. I just want to know I have some mental support, if I start to shift to "anger" mode. Anger is the worst emotion, and it will suck all the good thoughts out of me. I REALLY want to avoid that!
My DD asked me if I can watch my grandson on Thursday night at his soccer practice. He is 8 and his sister who is 6 has practice at the same time different field. Her husband will be away on business. Of course I said YES!!!! I will set up a lawn chair and take in every precious moment! I think that is the "law" for grandparents, right??? I am looking forward to it! Weather should be nice too!

Keywestfan - not sure if you’re able / want to request it or not, but before my first mastectomy, I had my PCP prescribe Valium. She gave me a small amount, just to get through the days leading up to the surgery. Sending you healing vibes and prayers for your surgery.
Spent the last two days with my new granddaughter. On cloud nine. They got home yesterday afternoon, so we picked up some items from Costco for dinner and snacks. Today we ran a few errands for them while they took the baby to the pediatrician. Plan to find a day or two go back next week.
Have a nice evening.

Mavericksmom, just in passing, we keep any discussions on politics or religion ( I'm not religious as much as spiritual ) pretty much at a minimum and pretty general when we might make reference but glad to hear there is company for the too much Queen and or other dignitaries when something happens, and it seems to go on for days. I, like I'm sure most everyone, want to keep abreast of what is going on currently, locally and nationally, but hearing the same things day after day just isn't my preference at all.
Maverick I likely mentioned or you picked up on it at some point that I had high blood pressure before my heart surjury. I actually took three pills for it. Two BP pills and a water pill to assist the BP's. Well, after the heart surjury ( mitral valve replacement with pig valve ) my blood pressure has been low and so far
stayed that way. It used to upset me that I had to 'temper' my blood pressure all the time, and never dreamed I'd end up with the problem in reverse. Anyway, my Dr. is trying to slowly ( she has me on the highest level of Lo sartan now ) increase my Carvedilol w/o dropping my blood pressure and it is taking some time to accomplish it. The Losartan increase was fairly easy.
I've never taken so many pills it seems like, yet I don't know that it is more then I use to take ( with the extra blood pressure meds ) but rather about the same amt. with the fact that the heart pills are twice a day , rather than once. I also take a half a pill for cholesterol and a half of one for diabetes, but I have neither issue. They add some oomph to the heart and so I take them as well.
It has gotten overcast and could rain/'storm a bit later. I gave the big bathroom a work-over. I don't use it much and let the other three household members, but they don't clean it up sadly. It was quite a chore. In order to clean it, I usually take clean clothers in ( once I have it clean enough ) and make up a solution ( mainly Murphy's Wood Soap ) in a bucket with a scrub brush and then get in the shower and have at it. When I'm done I step out and get my soap, shampoo and washcloth, turn on the water and rinse, rinse, rinse while I'm cleaning up myself. Then after I dry everything and use windex on it. It is a big room with walk-in shower, garden tub, big mirror and sink with attaached towel cupboard and storage. Takes a couple hours if you don't stop. I'm bushed.

Picked up our rescue Dal from her former owner today. Took nearly 2 hours to get there. Owner well-intentioned but dog is 2 and vet care was limited to state mandated rabies shot and emergency vet visit for an abscess a year ago. Owner mentioned she also has several pugs, cats and children, so busy household. She expressed gratitude that she was a private adoption and not going to a breeder.
Normally rescue will not pay for dogs but in this instance the Dal Rescue wanted her out of this environment so they agreed to buy her. We will pay for vet care in lieu of an adoption fee. We adopted our late Dal from this same Dal Rescue, attended their annual picnics (pre-Covid) and have a good rapport with the owner. It was serendipity that we were searching from a liver Dal when they learned of one being available. Liver Dals are hard to find and she said she has only found 1 for every 50 black Dals she rescues. So it was a win-win for both parties.
She is a petite Dal with one hazel and one blue eye with no hearing issues. She has had no obedience training which will have to wait until she is UTD on all required shots and has been spayed. Will delay spaying to allow her to adjust to new environment and routines. She is pretty with a mixed spotting of both liver and black spots. She has conked out on dog bed near me for the present. Is house trained but will crate at night until we ensure she can signal when she needs out here. She has warmed up to me and given some kisses (cheese is a wonderful bonding treat) and had a bath due to residual fleas (owner bathed her before we took her but some survived). Dawn dish detergent works wonders on flea removal (recommended by owner of Dalmatian Rescue we use) and from the appearance of her skin, she may have some reactivity from flea bites. To see vet first thing Monday morning. Hopefully she doesn't have heart worms.

I'm so glad to hear your Dal is safe with you Betrayal. If only dogs could 'really ' talk. Of course, in my imagination Miss Dal is happpy to have a 'quiet' place and is likely hoping it is HOME and praying that her happiness ( cheese contributions ) continues. I wonder if you may find out that she has a flea allergy or just bad irritation from the bites when you see your Vet. Sure sounds like your rapport with the Dal Rescue owners worked well for all concerned, but most importantly for the dog. What is not to love that a dog and great friends and potential owners were able to seamlessly come together for the tremendous benefit of a dog getting its forever home. Fingers crossed double that all goes well with the Vet and then Darling Dal can settle in for sure and for good.

Praying for good luck with your new polka-dot baby, betrayal. My baby is doing fine. He just talked me into a brief walk. I knew he needed one, because it is raining.
I made zucchini bread with yellow summer squash. A big recipe, three cups of flour and filled a cake-pan. I saw some pretty okra blossoms in my garden. Yesterday I made some dill pickled okra and some sweet and hot pickled tomatillos. Two pints of the former and two quarts of the latter. I also have a bit under a quart of vinegar mixture for the latter with a few vegetables in the refrigerator. A friend brought over a five-gallon bucket of apples late this morning, so my dehydrator is running. You would think I was a farm-wife.

I'm a bit anxious to find another companion for Minnie. Sometimes I feel like she just misses Bill. She has a quizzical look from time to time -- then meanders over to the couch where her bed is kept and gets in. She just seems to be missing part of the spark that kept her going. Dh is not at all anxious, but he will fall head over heels -- just like he did when I informed him that Minnie ( un-named at the time ) was coming home with us to be our dog. We didn't "need" another dog -- but she needed a home and one look in her eyes and I knew just the place. Dh wants another female -- he says because they won't hike their leg when they "go". Well, Bill never hiked his -- his slight deformity ( why I knew the minute I saw him he would be hard to adopt out so kept him ) kept him from really being able to raise his leg well. I have seen females hike a leg too -- but tell that to the fellas. We will see. We have several Animal Control offices so will start there. I want to 'save' someone and really don't want a puppy. There is nothing more great than puppy breath, but I'm not up to the work involved and we would have to go out on a leash for some time -- as the owls around here could likely carry away a puppy. We are too old for puppies, but I would never turn one away -- just wouldn't adopt one since I think they are generally easy to place most of the time.

Illinoislady, thanks for the heads up on politics. I was trying to agreethat the constant Queen news is annoying, but if it wasn’t there, the other would be more annoying! I guess I should have just left it at the Queen news is a bit much. Very sorry if I offended anyone. I usually don’t make the same mistake twice, so it won’t happen again! Also, I did misread your blood pressure issue and I am sorry you are going through that.
Congrats on the Dal, betrayal! I love dogs! Some day I will rescue a pooch! We had the sweetest chihuahua mix rescue dog. She was such a sweetheart!

Judy, thinking of you. I'm sure Dr. M, given your age and arthritis, will be on board with letting you suspend Arimidex. PM me if you need anything brought over when you get home. Where (i.e., hospital system) is your surgeon located?
The Queen news is getting a little wearisome, but nowhere near as much so as was the recent Diana stuff surrounding the 25th anniv. of her death. It sure beats watching coverage of you-know-who.
Was up late last night and tossed & turned till 4am. Got up, had a bowl of keto cereal & milk (there went my intemittent fast), took another CBD capsule, watched a saved Daily Show episode and waited till I started to yawn again. Have learned now that as soon after taking my night meds (CBD included) as I begin to yawn, I need to hightail it upstairs, pop a CBN to ensure staying asleep. and hit the hay. I was up past the peak of optimal sleepiness. Also having had a cocktail (as dessert) and a regular rather than decaf espresso at our restaurant meal last night might be partly to blame. Cats woke me up after only 5 hrs. of sleep--Bob doesn't know what foods they like at any given moment, so it was (sigh) up to me. I didn't get my coffee till 3:15pm. nor eat my first meal of the day till 4:45.
Talked to my sis in NoVA early this aft. She is recovering from minimally-invasive bunion surgery and hammertoe straightening because the second toe was undermined so much by her big toe that she suddenly couldn't wear closed shoes. (Mine's the opposite--the big'un is crossing over my second toe). She was shocked that my latest DPM insists on fusing the 1st MTP joint if he repairs my bunion; her surgeon is an orthopod who specializes in feet. She will ask him for referrals in the Chicago area. My DPM was scornful of minimally-invasive bunion surgery, as it's usually performed in an on-site surgicenter rather than hospital, and the ones advertised were done mostly for younger, less extreme feet. Odd thing is that the bunion itself gave her no pain and didn't even look bad--just the big toe crossing beneath the second one, making it "hammer." She was up & around in a walking boot w/in a day after being discharged (same-day surgery). Now, if only I can get Bob in to a DPM or my nail salon to take care of his problem toenails! (He is embarrassed for my nail tech to see his feet, but I told him she sees far worse).
Finally, this afternoon I got my updated (bivalent) Moderna booster. It finally (w/in the last few minutes, see below) got entered into my prescription history in Walgreens' app and my N.Shore patient portal, and was able to save it to my Apple Wallet. Interestingly, though, the "Smart Pass" on the Wallet has room to list only four shots--so my first (1/2021) shot was not listed. Meanwhile, my L arm is starting to get sore. I didn't have any reaction to my 4th shot (second booster), but since this one contains the spike info for Omicron BA.4/5, my immune system is probably gonna "call out the cavalry" after encountering this new subvariant for the first time (unless I was infected unawares this past summer). There was no more room on my CDC vax card so they gave me a new one. I have nothing to do tomorrow but an online voice lesson tomorrow, due to predicted storms; glad we didn't try to get Bears tickets. (The walk between the CTA station & Soldier Field is particularly brutal, and we're not about to drop $60 each way for a rickshaw). It'll be a good day to nap.
Speaking of online stuff, despite my belief that astrology is ridiculous, I'm thinking there might be something to this "Mercury Retrograde" stuff. (It always cojures a mental picture of a car rolling backwards downhill). When isn't Mercury in retrograde, anyway? First, yesterday my voice teacher couldn't hear the top notes of each of my vocal exercise scales, and my FB Messenger video was time-stamping our conversations 2 hrs earlier. Then Bob tried to DVR the tennis match but got the error message "you do not have permission to record this program." Next, I tried to Zelle my landscaper but was denied access to my bank account (online or via app). Then my new vax wasn't showing up in my records even though Walgreen's texted me that it was. This morning I still couldn't access my bank account. Just when I was about to freak out and call tech support again, their fraud dept. phoned me to confirm the transaction was legit--and immediately unlocked my account. And the vax records suddenly showed up in Walgreens and my N.Shore portal--but still not in the IDPH database yet.

Maverick, it is quite all right. I doubt any of us mentined it when you first chose to become another loving friend on this thread. We, and very much the mods who would have to intervene constantly found long ago that politics and religion tends to cause many ill feelings and sometimes seems to have been used now and then to stir bad feelings and get people calling names and choosing sides -- just carrying things to the nth. degree. Please do not feel bad.
That said, we do from time to time ( like expressing news bombardment ) mention something, but keep it mainly light and hopefully very in-offensive. We don't want to upset the mods and ourselves since we have a thread that works without rancor and we learn things from each other. You likely noticed that Sandy is almost a help encyclopedia. She has a strong legal mind as well so is a treasure to have here.
I'm going to send you a pm in a little bit so watch for it.
0 -
Aw, Jackie, I'm blushing!
If you don't see me here for a day or so, know that it's because I will be butt-deep in continuing legal ed videos. 11 hrs. down, 19 to go before the 30th. I've watched all the fun stuff, and now it's time for the "my eyes glazed over" ones. At least I can play solitaire as I listen in order to stay awake.

Sandy, thank you. Think the second floor skilled nursing will have what I might need and Gil can get the rest. Dr M not on board with Arimidex suspension. Says he wants me to be 90 and cancer free. All the science says 5 years so that’s what he goes by. Surgery at Skokie. Surgeon, Michael O Rourke, highest accolades, at IBJI . My wonderful PCP, Pat Logan, at North Shoretold me to use O’ROURKE, so competing systems don’t always get in the way. Pat Logan called this afternoon to say he was thinking of me and that I would be just fine. He knows I have the anxiety gene and often comforts me. I’m envious of your Moderna. Wonder how soon after surgery, and not breaking precautions, I can get it.
0 -
Thank you Cardplayer. My PCP, knowing my anxiety gene prescribed low dose Xanax. Said he wouldn’t let me get addicted. Told me it was important I sleep. I carry it with me, but try not to take it, though if ever there was a time, it would be now.

I forgot to say while I was here that I got a card in today's mail that the V.A. has the next Moderna shots as well as for the flu. We can go to Mt. Vernon satellite ofc. for them so not so bad. A couple of times we drive all the way to Marion for the first two. It was so important that we get them we didn't care. Got the 3rd. at a local pharmacy just down the road from us. So soon we will have that hurdle taken care of. I wait as late as I can generaly for the flu as I'm hoping to stay covered a little longer on the other end.
I will take covid or boosters or whatever they say I need as long as I can get them. Hoping they might ( it sounds like a possibility ) that they might find an overall injection that takes care of everything -- but don't know if you might need it yealy or if it would hold for a good length of time.

keywest - we’re in your pocket if you need us! Betrayal, so happy for you and your Dal.
I don’t want to say it but I feel I have to, summer is over. We closed our pool today. It was 82 with full sun out, pool was 76 and we had to admit only going to get cooler. I still have to put in “pillows” and drop the water level, clean the filter out before it’s truly over with. But once that dark green/black winter cover is on, it’s over.
Painter was by to look and drop off his tools. He’ll be back tomorrow for about 3 hours to do prep work. The real painting starts Monday. My partner has a sinus infection from the dust and mold, I gave a sore throat from all the post nasal. I can’t wait for this to be done with!
I hope you all have a great Sunday! PS- I too have had enough of the Queen Mum coverage. They’ve interrupted my soap opera 2x!! Hahahah
0 -
Keywest - good luck Monday. Will be thinking about you.
Betrayal - congrats on your new fur baby - name?
Sandy - when I do continuing ed videos, they check to make sure you are still paying attention or the video stops. I try to get mine through work and National conference. 2023 NASP is in Denver and I've already put in my leave for it. I just renewed my NCSP so good for another 3 years - I will renew then but not after that. My CDE license if good till 09/24 - will renew it then probably for the last time as its now good for 7 years.
My brother is in the hospital with Covid and biggest issue is with breathing. The doctors have him on 3 antibiotics and the covid me - he said he started treatment at home on Wednesday. Not sure when he was admitted and he said doctors don't have a time on recovery. We aren't so close, but I worry about him. In 2018, he was in the hospital for a month fighting the flu and almost died. Thankfully he recovered.
Nice gray rainy day today and last night - today only in the 50s - such a nice break from the extreme heat. Tomorrow will be 75 and then heating up to high 80s.

The CLE service I formerly used would interrupt the video to read off a "keyword" for me to enter at the end of each video before being able to print out the certificate of compliance. No way to rewind in case you missed it--I would literally have to haul my laptop into the loo so I wouldn't miss it. The one I used in 2020 and again now interrupts the feed 2 or 3 times with an "Are you still listening?" message box--you have 3 minutes to click "yes" and then it resumes 2 seconds later. I cascade my windows so that as I play solitaire while listening I can toggle when the feed stops and click "I'm still here." Pretty easy to multitask, as solitaire is silent, fairly mindless and requires only rudimentary arithmetic skills and a steady hand on the trackpad. We also get course materials (statutes, case citations, outlines) to download. One blissful reporting period (2015- 2016), I was able to complete my entire requirement by attending two conferences: an entertainment law one in NOLA in 2015 (which distracted me from my upcoming biopsy) and then a Diversity & Inclusion 3-day seminar in Lausanne, Switzerland the following April. 32 credit hours and not one video to sit through! (Sadly, you can't carry over excess credits from year to year).
Wish it'd be this easy to woodshed for my gig (and rebuild my L hand fingertip calluses) for next Fri. in Madison!

Jackie, I am technology challenged and I have no idea if the PMs I sent you went through. They didn't show up in my "sent" file. Please let me know if you didn't receive them!
Thank you for yours!!!!
0 -
Jackie, I sent you another PM. They say three times is a charm!
Sandy, you are good at technology multitasking! I am a little jealous! j/k I hear you about distractions for your up coming biopsy, I try everything to avoid thinking about my upcoming surgery, still 5 weeks away!
My husband and I both got our new Covid vaccine boosters. I ended up running a low fever, around 100, the day after the vaccine, but no real side effects. Now we both have our boosters and flu vaccines.
Karen, wishing your brother a speedy recovery!
Cindy, yes, sadly summer is over! I am back in the classroom with more challenges than last year. We have a number of very sweet students from Ukraine, but they don't speak any English! We are trying to get translated work for them, but it is a challenge! I can't imagine being in school and not understanding anything the teacher says. Surprisingly, they seem to be handling it ok so far!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I was so cozy under the covers this morning that I slept until 8 am. Much later than usual. DH had the heat pump on. The outside temperature read 45 degrees and the inside temp was up to 62 degrees. Summer has been given notice that 70 degree days are in short supply.
Yesterday was our last day at the 2022 farmers market. We made one sale, a nice bowl made of sinker cypress. It was a beautiful sunny, cool day. We gave bowls to a number of fellow venders, including a young Amish man who had admired the bowls all summer.
Congrats to new grandmas and new pet owners. Keywestfan, I will be thinking about you tomorrow.
Meanwhile I hope to enjoy a leisurely day.

Mavericksmom- try a translation app on your phone. I have neighbors who only speak Chinese. We communicate via the app she uses. She’ll talk into it, and it will speak English to me. I couldn’t imagine not understanding anything in school.
Overcast and 70. Painter is upstairs sanding the plaster. I gave him a KN95 mask. Partner and I both got hit with allergy related illnesses from that front bedroom. I’ve got to go out and start flooding the neighborhood with pool water. The joys of pool ownership

Chances for heroic giving are rare, yet every day there are opportunities to give a part of yourself to someone who needs it. It may be no more than a kind word or a letter written at the right time. The important thing about any gift is the amount of yourself you put into it.
