It is sunny and was a mite frosty here in south central Illinois. It is cold and our furnace too is keeping the beat of keeping our indoor temps fairly constant. It feels good. I saw a big doe in the side yard this morning -- very casual and un-concerned. She was alone. I always feel like it is a special gift to see deer visiting in the early morning hours. We haven't seen our family of foxes for some time, but they don't come out too often really.

Nothing special planned today. I think I will likely be planning the coming week if anything. Due to go to Marion for my feet tomorrow. Sigh !! Hopefully, I won't be having to go back to Marion for some time after that.

I see the Dr. Medhani on the 28th. but don't go to Marion now that they are trying out bringing Dr's to the satellite clinics. I sure hope that works because for some, (and I'm one of them) it can be a real struggle. I'm just under the amt. of mileage I need to qualify me for travel pay as well. Sometimes the weather is rotten although I realize that works both ways for whomever is driving somewhere. Anyway, my having re-arranged my dosage on the Carvedilol seems to have taken off. He wanted me to have 50 mlg. pill twice a day but it wasn't working well. I would have to wait for way too much time to be able to take the second dose -- and that was due to the other meds. that were dropping my blood pressure. So, it was a week-end and I just decided I'd take full tablet in the morning and go back to the half tablet for the evening dose. Then, after a couple weeks, start putting the full tablet back in. The last three days this has worked quite well as I've not had to wait extraordinary amts. of time nor guzzle water to up my pressure. So, hopefully we have accomplished the changeover. He wants to take me off Losartan and use something else. So, we will see. It seemed to me that he was going to wait till the Carvedilol was working well.

I hope you all have a good day, and can stay warm w/o any harsh weather.

I put up a second Christmas tree, old tree from last year, on my back lanai. My nieces daughter who has always helped me decorate the tree when they arrive in FL for the holiday seemed upset that I decorated the newone in the house without waiting for her. But I had asked her weeks ago if I could do it up because last year she lost interest in a nano second and my tree had mostly balls, no special Hallmark ornaments nor special made ones. I get it, she had people/kids to see and places to go. So I thought I’d eliminate my tree looking less than it should. Hence the second tree. I sent her pictures telling her it’s waiting for her. I still may get coal in my stocking.

I’ve ordered Christmas dinner from Honey Baked. We get the turkey, mac & cheese, green bean casserole, and sweet potato soufflé. I’ll make regular potatoes and grab cranberry sauce. Makes it easy on me.

I’m giggling, Christmas Eve may be 59, and Christmas Day 61. Definitely not SWFL weather, but as a NY’er we’d probably have the windows open! Not sure we’ll go to the pool though. My niece and her daughter will be disappointed for sure, but will enjoy it otherwise.

It sounds like everyone is holding their own. And DH’s are doing better across the board (note, I didn’t write names down). Wishing everyone a good week!

When indeed shall we learn that we are all related one to the other, that we are all members of one body? Until the spirit of love for our fellow people, regardless of race, color or creed, shall fill the world, making real in our lives and our deeds the actuality of human brotherhood--until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of responsibility for each other's welfare, social justice can never be attained. -Helen Keller

4p.m. this afternoon and just now getting here. Had an appt. in Marion for my feet. I'm so stubborn. I could go to an office about 30 miles from my house, but I just didn't like the Podiatrist. Oddly, I went to him several yrs. ago. He worked out of the hospital in a little town to the west of us called Breeze. He, I rhink was fairly new. I had work Ins. then and he was oh so solicitous. So, I looked forward to going back even though now a V.A. patient. He was dressed differently, had gained wt. and had far from the caring sort of personality he easily displayed. In fact, I really felt he was looking down at me as though I had caused him some issue or other. Perhaps not being happy he relied now on V.A. patients, who knows.

I chose to not go back. It involves a rather long drive to get it done (hoping in time maybe the V.A. can sign up a second close Podiatrist around here) but doctoring over anything with a Dr. who seems cold, distant, resentful in a strange way almost, doesn't much help me. In fact, I'm better at helping myself when both parties are clearly working on the same GOAL. So, I'll keep going to Marion for now.

Very light breakfast so we were famished. Had a nice snack, but a little while later I chose to expand on that quite a bit.

Cindy, I've known a couple of people who had X-mas trees almost in every room. My cousin just decorates the whole house with wreaths, and other assorted Christmassy decorations Even the bathrooms get done. Then again, she has two garages and two storage buildings, and her spare bedrooms are full as well of all her seasonal decorations. I like a certain amt. but I just can't handle such huge amts. of decorative things. I no longer have the energy anyway.

I hope you all had a really nice day.

Years ago I made an appointment with a local podiatrist about recurring foot pain. He was kind, provided a temporary fix for my sore foot and I returned to see him several times. He had lovely photographs of Philadelphia scenes in his waiting and exam rooms that he had taken himself and enlarged. To make a long story short, he never seemed to have many patients but I didn't think too much about it since I saw him so infrequently. Later learned that he was running "call" girls on the side to make ends meet and got caught. Sorry he made that decision but I really liked him and thought he offered me great care.

betrayal, that’s funny, but not funny.

I saw my FL chiropractor today. As I waited to go in I could hear the conversation of full blown conspiracy theory on big pharma, even mention assassination. I was going to ask, is the still born baby of JFK really alive and living in a bunker? As long as he can fix my back and not have those conversations with me, I’ll go back. If I hear anything about “call girls” I’ll definitely have to find a back up

Sorry for not checking in for more than a week. Time flies when you've been slogging through annoyances (though not while you're dealing with each one). Our holiday tree lights went out again--turns out the rabbits had chewed through the extension cable. The landscaper buried the new one (and the controller) under a ton of mulch. So they have to stay on 24/7, but as LEDs they use up less electricity than an old-school electric menorah. They're not bright enough to annoy the neighbors either--just on the cedar out front and the trunk of the magnolia out back, not on the house. Wish our block had those lighted sidewalk arches. I have the Hanukkah stuff up in one small front window (including a battery-powered LED menorah), with the old multi-bulb one in the kitchen window.

Jackie, congrats on the good procedure results. Wren, hope you can get in soon to visit your DH. Carole, glad you dodged that twister; hope your DH recovers soon from his UTI (I forget men get them too). Wally, hope your DH's pain is not from mets. I know you were raised secular, but saying a Mi Sheberach for him anyway. Betrayal, amazing Regan lets you clean her teeth--none of my kitties ever did. Mary, hope there's a way the bike battery won't be such a PITA. (The oncoming blizzard may moot that anyway).

HK's DH is going to be getting a hospital bed & accoutrements courtesy of the V.A., to keep him from falling out of bed during the night. Not on hospice yet, as they'll still keep up his dialysis.

The kids insist on driving down (with the dog) to the Hill Country for Leslie's family Christmas--they will be leaving here Wed. to beat the blizzard. But they won't escape the cold: it'll be 19F in San Antonio. Still, orders of magnitude warmer than here. Our chimney hasn't been swept in >30 yrs., so the fireplace won't be an option if we lose power and therefore heat. (Hoping we can light the boiler's pilot light the old-fashioned way with a match, rather than with an igniter--we have to use a match to light the gas range too: alternatively, using a Bic to kindle a candle or even a stick of spaghetti as a taper). We have several flashlights, and a dozen Yahrtzeit candles (24-hr votives, in little glasses). The glitzy Israeli metallic Hanukkah candles are too skinny for the menorah, so we can use them as stove-kindlers too. Something to be said for those cheap twisty ones--they stay put in the menorah. (We put the candle-menorah on the middle of the stove to keep it away from cats & flammable stuff).

We're expecting anywhere from 6-18" of snow Thurs-Sat. Bob insists on working Fri. (worst of the blizzard) so he will reserve a room at the Oak Lawn Hilton overnight Thurs. & Fri. We have "reveillon" dinner res. at Bog Jones Xmas Eve--but it'll be 0F by dinner time. Hoping we can order a taxi to get us there & back--last thing we need is to be unable to park because of snowdrifts & "dibs." (Chicago's charming practice of reserving one's shoveled-out spot with lawn furniture & assorted heavy debris). That's assuming we can even escape the garage & alley. The city plows only the streets.

I am currently in RCN's "e-mail jail;" my account was (w/o warning) suspended because the algorithm flagged "abuse," claiming I sent too many e-mails. Baloney--I GET too d**n many junk mails. I spend 3 hrs every other day purging first my Inbox and then my Trash. I called and found out that from the time the Customer Svce rep put in the case request, I remain suspended for a full 24 hrs. So all the accounts that use that address to contact me (including via apps) can't notify me--their e-mails will bounce back. I'd been reluctant to take T-Mobile up on that $50/mo. internet because I'd have to give up my RCN address and spend hours-to-days notifying everyone of the address change; but I'm going to do it anyway as soon as RCN reinstates me; once I've notified everyone, then I'll ditch RCN as my ISP. (Still have to keep it for my landline, which is how my DirecTV updates; and its basic cable for when the satellite goes out during storms & heavy snow; if I subscribed to all the streaming services that provide the shows & channels I like, it'd cost as much as cable and would be useless during an internet outage).

Sun here today so far but Sandy, I am thinking of you and the coming Chicago weather. I did read on my 7-day forecast that the coldest temps in 40 yrs. are expected for the upcoming holiday period. Well, I guess even that infers a lot of possibilities for snowfalls in a lot of areas. Maybe even here this time. We certainly aren't immune here, but do seem to have less overall issues. I sure hope it can all work out well for you and your family Sandy. I know it is certainly a worry and a bit worse for us who have a few years on board as well. Praying ALL stay safe during the artic holiday blast.

Nothing special today which is good for me. Paying bills mainly to get started on last month of the yr. Also, dsil gets a week off paid at Christmas so a bit more regular cooking. Also, I will get in a few extra groceries in case we do have to wait out snowplows at some point during the holidays.

Hope you all have a really good day.

Florida is going in the deep freeze. Cindy, it is amazing the difference a few hundred miles makes. Christmas Eve, when I have the family coming, will be high of 46 degrees and a low of 25 degrees. We will be eating inside. My table fits 8, if there is an over flow, they can sit at the pub group or the kitchen bar. Since my brother is always late, it should work out just fine. I was going to start making a Southern Brown Sugar pie, but couldn't get into it. I decided I would buy a pie crust instead of making my own. I was going to bake the walnut cake today, but we finally have closing on the house we were selling. I think I will have a mass cooking binge on Friday, if I keep putting things off.

Wren, so glad you can get to see your husband. I am setting up a zoom call with my son.

Maverick, I once had an ornament with a mouse sleeping in a matchbox but lost it. It was old when I was a child, I think.

Jackie, I would be so tired of doctors if I were you. Hope you get this balancing act resolved soon. I have been told that my knee replacement will happen soon. Tired of balancing myself on this joint-less joint. Really wondering what I can do with Tippy. I know that a neighbor is a very good dog-sitter, although he does seem to return with fleas. Maybe not in the winter, though.

I have a little tree with a light in the bottom, spinning color-changer, and fiber optic lights. So much prettier than the other one I had. Then a Nativity set with Joseph ten inches tall, that I bought from a friend a few years ago.

I would probably get bad vibes from a chiropractor who runs prostitutes and switch to another. Really sensitive to such things because of past abuse.

Praying for HK and hubby, Sandy. Hope you get that chimney swept soon. So comforting in bad weather to have that alternative.

I am working on a Wal-Mart pickup order. I can ride a cab out there, pick up, and back on one fare. It is difficult to switch from warm-weather going to the local grocery store almost daily to mega-purchase in bitter-cold snowy weather at Wal-Mart. I really need to buy some candles, might add that to my order. I had my flashlight attached to Tippy's leash, but the cap unscrewed and dumped the batteries somewhere. And they were rechargeable.

I have had the same e-mail address through Microsoft for years. The automatic sorting feature is so easy to run, as well as being easy to report phishing. I have cellphone, internet, and cable all from one provider, and the phone works even when the cable is down.

The arctic blast is expected to get down to -7, which is not really that bad, except for -23 with windchill on Friday. Total snow of six inches on Wed and Thurs, but the drifting on Friday will be nasty. I think the Christmas vacation for schoolkids will be a bit longer this year.

Sunny today, so I need to get outside and enjoy it. Hopefully my new insurance will pay for SAD light quickly. My doctor will be cooperating.

Tippy is patiently waiting for "sniff & pee" so I had better get busy.

Betrayal - Running call girls out of a doctors office - wow. Cindyny - If my doctor started to have crazy discussions like that, I’d probably find another doctor.

Been feeling a little out of sorts lately. My back is still bothering me. I’ve been riding the bike since it’s too cold to walk outside and doing the exercises the doctor gave me. Got blood back from my rheumatologist. All looks normal except for my liver enzymes. I be a call into my PCP. Not sure if it was the medrol dose pack or the Lipitor (that they just put me in) that’s increased my numbers. Figure I should get them rechecked in a month. I’ve had idiopathic pancreatitis in the past and high liver enzymes (ast, alt) are usually one of the early signs.

DD, SIL, and GD are coming over to have Christmas with us. This will be GD first long car ride (an hour); hopefully she’ll sleep. SIL DD is visiting them now. If the snow impacts his ability to drive home, he’ll be joining.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. For those getting lots of snow or bad weather, stay safe.

I will have a lot of cooking to do for the building party on the 28th, as well as making silk wide-leg pants for my sister. My brother is sending me a Christmas present for the first time ever, I think. A snow-tire for my bike. The battery runs the front wheel, while my legs run the back wheels.

Mary, one of our ornaments is a mouse in a Santa hat, sitting on and nibbling a bagel. The bagel is made from actual dough, baked and laquered. I would urge you to wait for warmer weather to have your TKR. Trust me when I tell you that orthopedic rehab, especially at home, is an absolute bear in the winter. My sister tore her ACL & MCL in a hotel room (trying to change a light bulb) while visiting us from VA for Gordy's first Thanksgiving (she couldn't stay with us because she's allergic to cats). She had ligment-reconstructive surgery at Skokie Hospital, but needed to recuperate in a disabled-accessible home because she was totally non-weightbearing on that leg for weeks; her apt. back in Arlington was up a flight of stairs. The parents of one of her friends had a single-level ranch home in Burlington, WI, with no stairs at all. So she stayed there for three weeks in deepest December. Not fun. (Her insurance wouldn't cover an in-patient rehab facility back then). I heeded her advice and had my TKRs in June.

Of course, when I fell and tore my own ACL at Disney World, it was late Feb.; and when I was hit by a car and shattered my tibial plateau, it was early Dec. You can't pick what time of year to have an accident, and emergency surgery, but you can when it comes to elective surgery. Especially with joint replacement, when you are weightbearing from the get-go and walking is an essential part of rehab.

We're in touch with our landscaper, who is also our snow management guy. We're too old to safely shovel snow, and I'm terrified of falling. Plowz & Mowz (the service via app) will do only parking lots & driveways, not sidewalks, garage doors or alleys. Bob's worried about being able to access the garage, because if by some miracle the alley gets plowed, it creates a 2-3' berm that seals off garage doors--and with the polar-plunge deep freeze, that berm will freeze so solid it'd take a Sawzall to cut through it. (Speaking of Sawzalls, if only the catalytic-converter thieves realized they could make more money using that tool to provide access to iced-in homeowners...). Last time it snowed as much as is predicted (Jan. 2014), he had to spend an entire week at the Oak Lawn Hilton until I could find a determined guy with a snowblower willing to work for under $300. He picked me up, we had a luxe staycation downtown--and got stuck in our alley trying to get home to our garage, despite his car having AWD. We decided never to buy a sedan again

    DOTD was Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau.

We didn't buy any Christmas presents this year. Most of our friends have no more room for "stuff," and the kids (and our HK) would much rather have money. So gift cards it'll be, given on New Year's Eve. (One of my friends actually made a blog post urging people to stop giving physical presents).

I seem to have skipped/missed some pages earlier - trying to catchup. I hope I've caught everything. Chisandy - sounds like dangerous conditions in Chicago well as other places in the Midwest. Hope you and DH stay safe. Glad HK DH was able to get a hospital bed. Hope that makes him more comfortable. Glad you've got your shopping done Illinois. Are you having a large group for Christmas? Petite - sounds like you'll have a nice group for the holidays. Your desserts sound yummy. I hope it warms up where you are in FL. Sorry that Little Felix isn't doing well. Sounds like you're getting hit with the winter chill Mcbaker. Nice that your brother is sending you a gift. Not sure if we'll get any snow on Thursday/Friday, but sounds like we'll get hit with icy conditions, cold temperatures, and high winds. DH and I decided to go to the grocery today instead of waiting until Friday. Just hope everything stays fresh. They've already pretreated one of the main roads near our house, close to I81. DH and I don't wrap our gifts for each other, since we just buy what we wanted. Just a few items each, although I get a few more for my birthday a few days later. Our adult children give us a list and we wrap their gifts or send moneyvia Venmo. Be safe.

    ((((((Felix)))))

Your baking items sound fantastic Petite . I love my Aunt's Black Walnut Cake. Whatever eating a piece of heaven is like, I expect that is just what it would taste of. My whole family seems to have been born with natural cooking thumbs. I on the other hand, can cook, but never feel that I really get that close to what we fix that is alike.

So many sound to be having really cold and possibly icy negative conditions for the holiday. Also sounds like airports are expecting issues as well. Like cardplayer, I'm not at all sure what we may get although I know it will be cold. My daughter is hoping for snow. Well, I do find it pretty, but she hasn't as yet learned to drive in it, so I say sweet daughter, be careful what you wish for.

Hope you all had a good day.

Wrapped family presents on Monday afternoon and in to the evening. Not as many as in past years because DH and I both got what we need clothing wise for February trip to Jackson Hole. It is a bucket list wish to see the elk in the winter refuge there. Weather will be colder than what we normally experience here so we are prepared with long johns, new storm resistant boots, gloves and parkas (rain and snow proof). We have several day trips lined up so we should be okay for the cold. I bought some new sweaters as well.

Yesterday and today were spent baking some Christmas cookies. Last year I made about 15 different varieties and this year it is reduced to 4: chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, cherry winks and mint surprises. I may make some sugar cookies tomorrow but need to get some other supplies for the day after Christmas and with the bad weather report I need to get out early.

The podiatrist was NOT running girls out of his office. He just did not have a large number of patients in his waiting room and I guess opted to have this other source of income based elsewhere. His office was in too public of an area to not have this type of activity noted.

Happy Hanukah to those who celebrate.

My DSIL's birthday is on Christmas eve and I have always had a birthday gift for her separate from her Christmas present. We no longer exchange presents but do acknowledge respective birthdays. My MIL would try to explain that my DS's birthday was too close to Christmas so she said he should not get a gift for his birthday and then expect one for Christmas. Now bear in mind there is over 5 weeks between the events and I had to explain that my DS would need this explanation from her, not me. I still cannot wrap my head around that warped logic especially when it was used against a grandchild.

DS did a Costco run for us and delivered it today. He had Regan actually sitting on his lap while they were both on the floor. She was even licking his face. So she is gradually warming up to men though for some reason she is slower in showering these behaviors on DH. They are making inroads because he can clip the lead to her collar for walks. Still working on a more reliable method of letting us know when she needs to go out than clawing me with her paws.

Hope everyone had a great day and that tomorrow's predicted storm is just a myth. I'm already tired of winter and the cold and it just started.

((Petite!! So sorry!)) And yes, I read it and said it out loud.

I got up this morning and Tippy had pooped in front of the door and added some pee to it. I really wish he would confine his pooping to the bathroom, and pee in the tub. He did not poop yesterday, so it was quite hard. We finally went outside, and he turned back after about half a block. He was walking funny but wouldn't let me check how cold his feet were. -22 with wind chill. I was warm enough with a balaclava and scarf. I just got out a diaper for him, but he saw it and ran to his corner where I can't reach him easily, and his bed is there.

I have a book to read. It is "Church of Spies" by Riebling. Someone led me to it, and it contains criteria established by the Catholic Church to justify assassination of evil leaders (example was Hitler). Good material.

Then cookies and a gingerbread loaf.

Sorry to hear about Miss Felix passing. Sending you a virtual hug petite.

I’m with Tippy about not want to go out in the cold. Do you have puppy pads? We use to use those for our elder cat before he passed a couple of years ago to make cleanup easier.

Preparing for granddaughter coming Christmas Day. Washing some items - cushions for play gym and small infant chair. I have the pack and play all ready if she needs to use it.

I’ll start cooking a few things tomorrow. Still need to do some cleaning today. I also need to test myself for Covid. One of my friends that I saw a week ago has Covid. Want to make sure I don’t expose my family. So far I have no symptoms.

We got about 2 inches of snow this morning. Temperatures will warm and we’ll get rain. Our big freeze and high winds start tomorrow morning. Hope everyone is doing well and safe.

petite1: I am so sorry to hear about Miss Felix passing and can identify with the tear bucket. She was lucky to have had you as her "cat mother" for all the years you shared. I am sure Midnight Louie will also mourn her passing in spite of their occasional differences. Hugs to all of you.

Mary, sorry to hear bout Tippy's accident. I don't blame him about being reluctant to stay outside with those temperatures. Do you have booties for his feet? Not sure if he would like them but I am sure his feet get quite cold especially in a dog who usually likes his walks.

Gray overcast day with threats of a wintry rain/ice storm for later today. It is just above freezing now and not supposed to get much warmer. Haven't seen the sun in a few days and would really appreciate some soon. Hate gloomy weather since it dampens my mood.

Will bake sugar cookies today and that is the end of the cookie making for this year. DD will bring dessert for Christmas since I don't have the ingredients to make my usual Christmas trifle. Maybe I'll feel like making it for New Year's. Have a good day.

If you observe really happy people, you will find them building a boat, writing a symphony, educating their children, growing double dahlias or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi Desert. They will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that had rolled under the radiator, striving for it as a goal in itself. They will have become aware that they are happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours of each day. -W. Beran Wolfe

I am so sorry Petite. I am crying a little bit with you. I have lost many and like the humans in our life -- you cannot prepare enough for the sad event. I am always happy at the same time to know that an animal/people companion has had a good life, well taken care of and highly loved and appreciated. Sometimes I tell myself they all have a shorter lifespan so that they can have all their needs met for as long as they live. Their non-judgmental life always seems to give us a lot more than we give them and so we want more for them. I am though also convinced that they are not as much like us. They do not fear their leave-taking and find it natural. They do not fight it nor do they seem sad. They have had the best of us (if they are the truly lucky ones) and from us so have only satisfactions to ponder. Wishing for you peace and contentment as soon as it can come.

It is cold out and snowing. They are the tiniest of flakes so will take some time for any real accumulation. It doesn't seem slick and likely isn't. Am thinking about one more small run to Walmart just ot make sure we are stocked up enough. I do think some of the coming days will be better (snow-wise) so could wait. Daughter is sleeping as she worked last night so will get a bit of a surprise when she wakes up.

Despite the cold, I do have to say watching snow fall in the woods has always been really post-card pretty. We are lucky for the very small flakes. It will keep us from too much of an accumulation although it could get us up to 3 inches the weather report said. I really doubt we will get that.

I second whomever mentioned the doggy potty pads. Even though we have no carpet we have resorted to them a number of times -- sometimes for our cats and sometimes for the dogs. I've known a couple of dogs that had a strong dislike of either rain or too much winter moisture so at that time their owners used potty pads and they resumed going out when outdoor was more welcoming for them. We had one cat who would not use her little box unless we left the litter out and put a potty pad in. So, sometimes it is just a matter oof trying to figure out something that will work.

Carole, and everyone -- stay save and warm.

I just took him out and he peed and pooped. But the pee-pads might work in bitter-cold weather. Given that he refused a diaper.

Oh, petite, I'm so sorry that your time with Miss Felix has ended. 25 years, even for a cat, is utterly amazing and you were blessed for so long. Midnight Louie will doubtless be cuddling you harder now.

We got about 2" (actually a little less) here in the city, and the wind hasn't picked up yet; but the temps dropped like a rock this afternoon. 34 this morning, 8 now. By tomorrow morning, the wind-chill will make it feel like -35. Coldest I can remember since Jan. 1982. About to get another heavier band of snow in about an hour or so before it tapers off overnight. Going around the house to trickle the faucets to protect our pipes. I can live with even a $1000 water bill if it prevents a $20K expense from burst-pipe damage. The winds are expected to kick up overnight into Sat. morning, as high as 55mph--and that's steady-state, not gusts. It'll blow the light fluffy snow around so visibility will be nil. Bob got to Oak Lawn safe & sound. As of now, Gordy & Leslie are in NE TX (Texarkana), having spent the night in Marion, IL. They expect to get to the cablns by 12-1am. I'm worried sick that the Hill Country is projected to be the coldest part of TX--and the state hasn't done squat about the powr grid. IMHO, they should continue to the Austin airport and hitch a ride to Cancun on Ted Cruz' private jet.

I have a winterizing appt. (oil change, fluid top-up, tire rotation) at Evanston Subaru tom'w aft. Took me 2-1/2 wks. to get the appt. Hoping I can keep it. Normally takes about 20 min. to get there, but I'll give myself an hour if I don't cancel. You bet I will avail myself of a free cappuccino in the Service Dept. lounge. Maybe even cheat with a tangerine or granola bar. Just in case, in my trunk is a blanket, snow brushes (one in the passenger compartment), a shovel, traction mats, Fix-a-Flat, plug-in compressor & jumper cables; and an emergency bag with water, a day & night's meds, nightgown, T-shirt, Atkins bars, change of undies, phone & watch chargesr and a puzzle book.

    Masking everywhere again.

Petite I am so very sorry about your loss of Miss Felix. Please accept my sympathy.

To everyone in the storm line please stay safe. We are in New England and oddly if forecasts hold, we will continue to dodge the worst of things as we travel between relatives homes in Massachusetts and Connecticut before heading back to DC. We'll see.
