Don't worry, Sandi, Bob is a typical male. Weathermen hype it up for the ratings. They generally were storm-chasers in their younger years. I have never experienced a direct hit with a full-blown tornado, and that is from having lived in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, and Wisconsin.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day with customer support at Spectrum and Apple. It was an extraordinarily frustrating day. By the time I was finished (I hope) I had two blood-pressure readings in the 170/100 range. Called nurseline, and she told me to watch it and get to a doctor Monday. Shortly before bedtime, it was coming down. My tolerance for frustration has been low since the concussion.

My daughter told me last night that updating from iPhone 11 last year was an impulse purchase, which she regrets. But I have a "new" phone.

Tippy was adding to the frustration, so I asked a friend to take him for a while. He wanted a walk, so my friend called his walker who came over. He pooped. She brought him back to his apartment to talk. Later she went to put his leash on to bring him back to my place. The storm was going to hit fairly quickly, so he had a two-trigger panic. They called me, and I went over. He tried to climb up into my arms. I picked him up and held him tight until he calmed down. I walked him home as quickly as I could. We sat on the sofa, with him laying on my belly and wrapped up in a blanket. I was not a good dog-mom yesterday.

I woke up at one this morning with the headache raging. If all else fails, drink some coffee. It worked!!

Karen, looks like your care-team is gathering around you. It is all planned out, and all you have to do is trust them. They will hold you up.

Sandy, "because we could be dead in a hour." I love Bob! LOL You are a great couple, soooo funny! Glad you are both safe and well. Also, kuddos for thinking of your kitty! Yes, a carrier was a great idea! You are a wonderful pet parent!!!

Rain is pounding on my windows as I type this. Today, strong winds, rain and possible tornados. We rarely got tornados here and if we did, they weren't strong ones. We already had one F2 within 10 miles of us this year. They say the Jersey shore has the greatest risk of tornados today.

So much devastation across the country. Sad that we need tragedies to make people more compassionate, regardless of it being due to weather related or tragic events involving guns.

My heart is still broken over the latest school shooting. Our former president is a big boy, he has money and a legal team to protect him. Where was the protection for those slaughtered in schools and other places in our country? His legal woes should not be the priority topic on the news! I definitely wish we could turn back time and only have a few hours of news a day. I have had enough of all the so-called experts, most of whom simply state the obvious.

I put out a few decorations for Easter. Our foods are not nearly as interesting as those of you celebrating Passover. The story of Passover was always one of my favorites. Anyway, traditionally we have ham, scallop potatoes, asparagus, applesauce, and for dessert, cheesecake topped with cherry pie filling. Also the normal chocolate peanut butter eggs, and my DH's favorite, chocolate covered coconut eggs. My parents loved coconut, but I hate it as do all my siblings. I used to joke that I could lose weight very easily if I just sprinkled coconut on everything!

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend!

We enjoyed the women's basketball last night and were glad to see LSU pull out a victory. It was as though two different teams were playing. No rebounds and then suddenly vigorous defense. We went to bed on the second game which was higher level basketball. I don't give LSU any chance of winning in the final. I hope they can play well enough not to be embarrassed.

Like Sandy, I would gladly donate some fat tissue. I was slender most of my life but not now.

I hate all this violent weather. Hope everyone is safe and has electricity this morning.

I support a free press but agree that what motivates coverage of news is not covering what's most important. All the media thrive on covering our past President. He boosts the all-important ratings. I wish he would get himself another TV show and retire from politics. Fat chance of that happening.

Hope everyone has a safe Saturday.

I hope everyone is safe from the storms today. We’re getting wind and rain, but nothing compared to other areas. We’ve had a derecho here last year that caused a power outage. We have a generator, so we didn’t lose any food items. Around 1980, when we lived in our first home, we had high winds that took down several locust trees in our back yard. I was home alone as DH was working late. When he came home we went into the back yard with a flash light to survey the damage. One of the larger trees had uprooted and landed 2 feet from our house.

I’m glad you’re able to tolerate the protein powder Karen. When I was doing chemo, I drank a half a protein shake a day. I lost quite a bit of weight during that time, so I was try to get some nutrients. Glad you’re getting nausea under control. I’m sure you’re getting you home ready for Passover and DD#2 visit. So nice to have family around. Sending healing vibes.

Hope you feel better Mary. Is you blood pressure back to normal?

Cindy - do you play slots or table games at the casino? DH and I play blackjack when we go to the casinos. Enjoy.

Sandy - sounds like you have a good grab and go plan in case of a disaster. Bob seems like he’s more wait and see if it really happens. Glad you’re safe.

Sounds like you’re getting hit as well Jackie. Hope you continue to be safe today.

I’m also saddened by the school shootings Mavericksmom. It seems like every week there’s news of another incident. Very sad. Be safe today as the storm pass in your area.

Enjoyed the women’s final 4 games last night. Watched the first game, but fell asleep until the last minute of the SC- Iowa game. Very exciting games. Heading to see DD, SIL and DG today. Looking forward to spending time with them. Happy April 1st

Real wealth does not depend on worldly status or a bank balance. It is available in the sweeping cloud formations above you, the soft grass under your bare feet, the light in your children's eyes, and your funny cat. If we could realize the depth and extent of the gifts we have already been given, we would attain heights of ecstasy that collecting stuff will never achieve.

We had sirens going off several times last night. I went to the kitchen, washed dishes and got coffee ready for this morning It is sunny this a.m. but quite windy with lots of big branches in the trees doing a lot of swaying/dancing up there. We did have a power surge this morning so checking and re-setting clocks as it was momentary and just enough to turn the clocks off.. I don't know another time when we have had such consistent wind. Sure, will be glad when some quiet (no wind) days return.

Nothing special for today. I always hope to keep week-ends sort of open for whatever may present as a fun thing to do in amongst the normal work load.

I hope you all made it through any negative weather. Certainly thinking of Sandy this morning. Saw some posts on Facebook and it sounded like sirens ere going for a fair amt. of time. Much more than here. Thinking of all of you.

Mary, that 90 while not super high is still high. I will say mine was like that for years. Now I have the opposite issue. Too low, and especially right after I wake up. Usually now upon rising upper 68 to 78 and lower 44 to 54. I do get tired of having to take my blood pressure every time it is time to take a heart med.

I remember hearing about that NJ twister, as well as (years earlier) a tornado in MD and another in downtown SLC. One year I was at Folk Alliance in Memphis when the sirens went off--as we hurried to the restrooms (the Marriott's tornado shelter), through the floor-to-ceiling windows along the corridor I could see a funnel trying to form. And in 2017 as I drove up I-90 to Madison to perform, I saw a massive wall cloud forming up ahead north of Milton and moving eastward. I kept muttering "don't spin, don't spin" and then when it turned into a funnel, "oh shit, oh shit." Just then, the highway veered westward. Found out later that it indeed touched down near Stoughton and flattened a school's outbuilding. About 15 years ago, I recall a rare tornado touching down in NYC--including part of Brooklyn and even Forest Hills in Queens. Caused a lot of damage, including shattered windows, downed trees and even roofs & garages damaged in some of those Forest Hills Gardens mansions.

And about a decade ago a microburst in the Rock Spring neighborhood of Arlington, VA caused a huge old oak tree to fall on the house next to my sister's. The elderly couple who lived there were away on a cruise--that tree flattened what was their bedroom. The neighborhood lost power for a week.

I am shaking! Alarms were ringing and TV showing areas of Tornado warning. There were rotations spotted a half mile from us! Not sure if there were tornadoes but hail and a loud constant roar!

We don’t have a basement if a tornado hits we have no place to go except a bathroom with no windows.

Thought of your husband Sandy! I had some mint chocolate chip ice cream and said to my DH I thought we might die! Funny now but not in that moment

Heavy rain, very dark skies and horrible wind shaking the trees with a tornado watch until 10 PM. Thankfully the watch was just that. Winds are supposed to last overnight but it is quiet for the moment.

Regan had her private lesson yesterday and we explored every possible aisle and corner of the Petsmart for over 40 minutes. She was only reactive when a pit bull barked at her when we entered and then later when a bossy West Highland terrier was leaving the store and their paths crossed. She did not lunge, just tucked tail under and looked for an escape. She did not react to the fish, cats, the birds (parakeets) nor the guinea pigs (she likes to watch them). She was relaxed for the most part and he has set up another lesson for next Friday. She let one of the female workers pet her and even sniffed the hand of a man that the trainer knew. She walked between patrons standing in line at the checkout counters with no issues. So some positive progress. He still thinks she can rejoin a small group in the near future.

Local church had a pierogie sale today so DD and DSIL will bring them for dinner tomorrow. They were handmade by the parishioners for a church fund raiser and they also had stuffed cabbage which we will have for a later meal.

Hope everyone is safe and the weather becomes tamer across the country.

All of your weather reports sound scary to me. Only once in my life were we anywhere near a tornado. Upstate NY, a town called Mechanicsville was hit. We were over 20 miles from there but our sky turned green, partner was at the volunteer firehouse, and I took the kids down in our basement - unfinished dirt floor so you know I was scared. I always said that’s where the spiders live. For the kids sake I tried to downplay it - “let’s get ice creams and eat them on the basement stairs.” I should ask them if they remember that.

Casino was fun tonight with friends. We went inside during the changing from one musical group to the next. I played on the slots, lost $30 pretty quickly and that was that. The Del McCoury band was fantastic. Ricky Skaggs was good too, he had Kentucky Thunder with him.

Before we drove down to the casino, it’s about an hour from us, we had to put air in one of my tires. We filled up the gas tank, got air, and on the road we went. After the concert, as we left the parking lot - a big field outside the main parking, the car sounded funny. We attributed it to mud or a grass clump. Well, a little further away I pulled over to check and it was flat as a pancake. We had passed a gas station so I drove us back to it. Called AAA and waited. But we cleared out the trunk to get to the doughnut to be ready. AAA text they were delayed with many calls. Next thing you know - my partner, our guest and I changed that tire. We got the doughnut on and were on the road within an hour. Called AAA to cancel, never spoke to a person but left the message. Here’s also something - my car dashboard indicated front passenger. When it turned out it was back passenger side. My last tire rotation must not have adjusted for it. Multiple email was sent to me from OnStar, but I was at a concert not looking at email. First email said it was low; next said it was flat. Never knew it did that because I’ve never had a flat before. I know now!

That my craziness for one day. Almost 2:30 AM so I’m going to bed to read a bit before sleeping. Hoping you all have a good and safe nite!

Apparently only one tornado touched down in Delaware, so none near me. One person was killed due to that “one” tornado. I was freaked out when the weather people on TV were naming roads so close to my house where they were monitoring rotations! Combined with the noise and knowing we have no basement, was frightening.

We had hurricanes before but rarely tornadoes. I should mention that my biggest fear is of tornadoes. When our DS moved to Omaha, my first thought was tornadoes. He moved there because his wife was recruited for an amazing job. She is a chemical engineer. Ironically and thankfully they seem to avoid most of the tornados. We actually had more that were close to home than they have, and they have lived there for almost 15 years.

Windy today and I am fine with that!

Betrayal, so glad Ragen is doing well at class. I saw someone walking with several dogs, one was a Dalmatian with tail tucked under. Otherwise it looked comfortable walking with the other dogs. They went by quickly so I don’t really know how “comfortable” the dog really was. Tail tuck usually means they are stressed.

Cindy, sounded like a great night out minus the flat tire. Ugh! I didn’t know OnStar sends text messages. Good to know!!

Sandy, expect more bad weather this week. Sadly in my area it is expected to hit the first night of Passover. I feel extra bad for those who celebrate and hope it doesn’t interfere too much with their plans.

Today is the first day that I feel pretty good since the injections last Monday. Ran a few errands to TJs and King Soopers. Produce DD#2 or DH can get on Tuesday or Wednesday. I got veggies that last - carrots, squash etc.

DH is doing the ovens. Slowly I'm doing the kitchen fridge and freezer. Counter tops and sinks will get done on Wednesday by DD#2 and DH. Plus they will do most of the cooking. I made a list of "to do" and I put myself down to cook two things. Everything will get done in time. I'm pacing myself to not wear myself out or over do it. But it hurts to know that I can't do so much. Under normal circumstances I could have worked in the kitchen all day today and cooked after work M and T. Oh well. I'm just grateful for the extra few days before the injections again on Friday.

Gorgeous out today - sunny, blue sky and high 60s. Similar for tomorrow. Tuesday chance of snow and low 40s Tuesday and Wednesday. Then warming up starting on Thursday into next week.

Very sad to hear about the destruction and those killed by tornadoes and winds yesterday. I hope everyone continues to be safe.

We had rain as we drove out to DD about an hour away, but it stopped when we arrived. We has sunshine and we’re able to take a nice walk. Grandbaby was happy and full of smiles, just a delight. We cross over the Blue Ridge Mountains at Snickers Gap when we drive Rt. 7. The wind at the higher elevations can get pretty nasty but we timed it right in the way home to miss the high winds. DD had thunderstorms, while we had winds 40-50mph when we arrived home. I pulled a hamstring during our walk (steep incline) and my back and hip are achy today, so I’m taking it easy today. Tylenol and heating pad.

Looking forward to watching the Women’s championship this afternoon and the men’s final tomorrow night. NATS are winning this afternoon so far.

For those who celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful Palm Sunday.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

It is beautiful and sunny here today. I hope everyone is having something decent.

Cindy, your tire incident sounds a bit on the dicey side. Especially in that you had a guest/friend with you. Glad that you were able to take care of things pretty much on your own so as to keep moving forward. Also interesting that OnStar keeps you up on what is going on once you have some issue with tires and I'm sure other things as well. Comforting really. When I got my car (used), I had OnStar for the first three months of ownership I think. After that I would have to purchase the service. I never did.

I think it is easy to get a bit spooked when there are storm warnings on your tv or phone. They sound ominous and like you Maverick and others as well, I don't have a basement. Worried a lot about that, especially out here in the woods. Lots of trees to be a possible menace. It seems to me in our over 20 yrs. out here they have more acted like a windbreak of a sorts. So, I'm not as frightened as I once was, but I am wary. My little half bath in my bedrm. has no windows even though there are some across the room. We would go there and hope for the best.

Glad Regan had a much more positive experience in her one on one class at ? Pet Smart. Time for her to have more success and the comfort that comes from having successful interaction. You are patient enough for her to get there Betrayal. So good for both of you but especially Regan.

Karen, ah, at last, some needed peace from chemo meds. You are wise to continue to pace. You can make up for being a mite lax this yr. next yr. when Passover returns. You have such a supportive family. A true blessing.

Cardplayer, hope it doesn't take long to get the hamstring under control. Glad you have some good tv therapy picked out. Sundays are great days to treat yourself anyway.

I've had a marvelous Sunday so far. Went to my favorite -- Goodwill and pleased with myself for what i passed up. I did however, take a pan I didn't need too bad. A soup tureen sized pan and lid as it was one of my favorite brands -- Faberware. Also a couple of cookbooks which I may end up re-donating back at some time. I also take a lot of books to Mary Ann's Book store. She has done Avon for soooo long and so combines her Avon and selling books cheap and she takes the money from the books and donates help to animals. She has folders and folders from year to year with receipts from the vet bills she has paid for people who needed some help for their animal companions.

Hope you are allhaving an outstanding day.

Carole, I think LSU did way better than "just not being embarrassed!" Congrats on their win! I am looking forward to the mens finals tonight!

Sunny today, and I plan to take advantage of it!

Karen, you are a lady with a plan! I love it! Trying to "do" without "over doing" can be hard! I am sure you will accomplish enough to feel some normalcy. So happy your DD2 will be home for Passover!

Cardplayer, your drive sounded wonderful! I love the Blue Ridge Mts. Your grandbaby is at such a cute age! They grow up way too fast. All of my grandkids are in elementary school except the youngest. She has another year before she enters kindergarten.

illinois, I am so glad you had such a wonderful day! We have a Goodwill store near my house but I have never been inside. Maybe one day soon I will go see what it is like. I am all for repurposing rather than throwing out things!

So far since I have been retired, I am finding little that I need. I do have a great deal of de-cluttering to work on. Not that things are all over my house, but drawers, cupboards and closets are full of things I don't even remember I have. If it isn't useful or sentimental, I no longer want to keep it! I also want to put sentimental things I keep in some of my drawers, cards, letters, drawings from my kids, upstairs and free up all the downstairs storage for needed, useful items. We mainly use our first floor now that the kids are grown. We have bedrooms on both floors.

Seems strange again to have no doctor appointments. My DH does have one with the neurologist on Thursday. I will be glad when that is over and we hopefully know more about what his issues are. I am expecting the doctor will order some testing, but maybe not. It is hard for me to know if there is a disease process that is causing his walking issues or just age related issues. I know his whole health is suffering due to his lack of exercise. I can't even get him to go on walks with me.

I plan to call my homeowners insurance company this week to check on our coverage. With storms increasing in intensity, I don't want to risk not being able to fix storm damage due to insufficient insurance coverage. Our company updates what we have yearly, but since we have had the same company for so long, it is past time for me to look at the coverage more carefully.

As a veteran of storm related home damage, looking into one's home insurance coverage is warranted. It took 3 years for us to finally get our home back from the hands of skilled, but lackadaisical restoration company. Not all delays were due to covid but poor planning on their part. The insurance company replaced all storm damaged items except for some valued tchotchkes that were easy to replace at minimal cost. As we discovered bigger items that were damaged, they just added them to the original list and we were reimbursed pretty much at 100%. My mattress and box spring were pierced by an attic rafter but they were also older and on my list for things to replace when I retired. They ended up being covered because they were destroyed and the age was not a factor. So while I do not recommend this method for replacement of household items, my insurance company was the one positive in this entire horrendous experience. They refinished furniture from the primary bedroom, replaced floors in this room as well as the living room and basement, painted 3 bedrooms, etc so I almost felt like I had a new house again. It was just agonal to get it.

Andrea Bocelli's The Journey was interesting in that it was a spiritual and religious pilgrimage he took from Rome to his ancestral home via horseback. Beautiful scenery as was the music. Seems the route he took is taken by other religious pilgrims and is 200 miles long. The interiors of some of the cathedrals he visited were so ornately beautiful. Good to have a night out with just DD.

Karen: your plan for Passover seems to have covered all the bases and while you may not be able physically to participate as much as you have in the past, the details are in the planning and that is real work. So try to relax this year, knowing your plan for this year can always be executed by you next year. Nothing wrong with making long term plans. Enjoy the time with your lovely family.

Talked to BFF this week and she had just had 1st anniversary of her DH's death. While she was saddened by this, she has resumed all the volunteer work she had done prior to his lengthy illness (5-1/2 years) and seems so happy to be able to place herself first. So it was bittersweet for her but she is finding her balance again.

Have visit with PCP this week for Medicare Wellness check which I think is a joke. I find that Medicare is not predicated on preventative care but aimed at fixing you after the fact. Know that I cannot address any current issues during this visit or it will not be covered under "Wellness Check" but a normal office visit. So my increasingly sore knees will have to wait and I may just call ortho about more Orthovisc injections myself.

Well, off to address a section of my closet in the hopes of donating about 30% of the contents of that area. I have not touched some of the clothes in a year so it is time to part ways and better utilize the space for clothing I do use.

Sunny today with temps to reach the 50's. Later this week it will be in the 70's and I am not ready for summer yet. Hope everyone has a good day.

Enjoyed the basketball game. LSU played an outstanding game and shut down Caitlin Clark. I wish the refs had called less fouls and just let them play. I think it was a record 37 fouls called during the game. I don’t expect the men’s game to be this exciting. I think UConn is a much better team than San Diego State. I probably won’t be awake for the game since it starts late.

Karen - Glad you’re feeling better as the week begins and you prepare for Passover and your DD#2 visit. I hope you continue to pace yourself and feel good this week so that you can enjoy your time spent with family.

Cindy - glad you enjoyed your evening out with friends, but sorry to hear about the flat tire. Glad you were able to get it taken care of.

Mavericksmom - before we moved, we spent a year getting rid of stuff. Furniture, old clothes, lots of unused stuff. We had Value Village and Purple Heart pick up items, sold items on FB Marketplace and used freecycle to give stuff away. We really decluttered. Still have a few boxes of our kids stuff they asked us to keep for them.

Illinois - any upcoming testing this week as you prepare for you surgery?

A beautiful day here. We should be near 70 degrees everyday this week and sunny. Will try to do a little cleaning after spending most of the morning on the heating pad. Maybe some stretching after that. Hope to take a walk this afternoon.

For those who celebrate, Happy Passover.

Rained overnight. Off and on cloudy today. I'm hoping it will stay dry as I'm going to have my perm put in today. Part of the prep for the upcoming surgery on the 13th. All the tests have been done so all I have to do is show up really early over across the river in the city of St. Louis, Missouri.

Ah de-cluttering. It is in my thoughts constantly. I have so much of it to do. I have mainly done it in spurts in between the last three or four yrs. of having major medical incidents. Once again I will have some restrictions from the Thurs. implant. Won't be able to use my left arm ( we do hope it can be done on that side) for at least a month for heavy wt. or reaching upward very far. At least I know where I need to start when I can. I may define that area a bit beforehand, but depends on how industrious I actually feel during this week and the coming week-end.

I think I mentioned I've tried hard to be really selective with anything I bring home from Goodwill. In the main it has been books. clothes, or kitchen items. Some things I buy with the purpose right then of giving them to people who I know need them. If the clothes don't fit (since I paid such a good price) I will turn them right back in. I have as well a place to re-donate the books so I'm not adding a super amt. to our household -- at least that will actually stay here too long.

One of the biggest reasons I like the store so much is that un-like some other charitable venues, they have mainly items that are generally quite clean and they also have things laid out well on the shelves and racks. Our store has a large area devoted to decorative items for the home and an area for furniture. The desk I'm using right now came from there. It is all heavy tempered glass and strong medal on wheels that roll. A great size (meaning compact) for my computer. but still has plenty of room. I paid $12.00 for it. Has a pull out tray for the keyboard which is something I had been missing for a long time. So, I keep going back because on my budget, it is the perfect store for me. By the way, I have a couple of times, found a Coach or Stone Mountain handbag for between $2.50 and $4.50.

I hope you all have a beautiful and productive day.

Betrayal, I think wellness visits are a waste of time for those of us who have chronic health issues and frequently see a doctor. I actually left a practice because of one years ago. I went for what I called my "annual" check-up. I wasn't on Medicare then, but some insurances had no-co pay wellness visit. Long story short, I went to the visit with my list of concerns, which were the reason for my visit, the receptionist turned it into a wellness/no co-pay visit, and they handed me a paper stating that I was not allowed to ask any questions and told me to sign it! I was immediately upset, I didn't care about the co-pay, I wanted to ask the doctor about issues. I should have walked out right then and there, but I didn't.

I was told to give the paper I signed to the nurse and I did but she left it for the doctor, who then left it sitting on the little desk she had her laptop on after she walked out at the end of the appointment. So, I took the paper and walked out! I got a call from the office manager asking for me to bring the paper back and I refused. She got an ear full from me, as I was so upset at that point. I never went back, I switched to another practice.

There were 6 tornados that touched down in the tri-state area I live in. One in Delaware, four in NJ, and one in Wrightstown and Newtown PA. That one was much closer to my DD's house than mine. Most of the damage was downed trees, damaged roofs, etc. I know one person was killed in Delaware, but no one was hurt in the PA on. Not sure if there were injuries in NJ. So early in the season for this!

Mavericksmom - DH and I were lucky in selecting a medical practice when we moved to our area. We were discussing it during our settlement and one settlement office secretaries recommended this practice. They take Medicare and have cardiologists on staff (DH needed to transfer his care). So it worked out for both of us. The doctor I see has never done a Medicare visit for me. I guess since I’ve been in her care, I’ve had other issues that have taken priority.

All they do at the well visit is tell you to get more exercise.

I am so fortunate to have a PCP who will spend 45 minutes at the so-called 'well care' visit answering all my questions. I also feel fortunate that I still have standard medicare (never switched to an advantage plan) so everything is paid up front with no co-pay. I can see whoever I want whenever I want for as long as I want.

I’ve had similar issues with the wellness care visit/yearly physical. My dr, since retired, once got super snippy with me, I just shut up and let her go. After my physical she asked me if I had any issues, she had the time. I don’t miss her either.

I wear the FitBit to bed and usually have no issues. But this morning 6:20 I must have been awake enough for it to believe I was awake, and text messages started rolling in. Buzz buzz buzz, I took it off and threw it. And by then, yes I was fully awake. I got out of bed at 6:29, still semi dark here. I had been asleep less than 4 hours.

I got my newspaper, ate my breakfast and took my allergy meds and vitamins. Finished up laundry, then got dressed and out the door for my bike ride. Home to get back out to Lowe’s for mulch, $store cards, and Aldi’s for odds & ends. Back home I immediately started putting down the mulch, 4 bags. It gets washed out over the summer, especially during a hurricane. I came in dripping sweat. Pulled off wet clothing, rinsed off and tossed on my night shirt. You know where this is going. By 1:30 I went down for a nap. Awake after 3, I’m totally discombobulated. It was about 83 when I was putting down the mulch. I don’t know how the landscapers do it in this heat, they were out there mowing and trimming.

I’ve got a list of phone calls I need to make. I’ll get to them tomorrow. I hope to sleep through a regular night tonight.

Hoping everyone’s weather returns to normal. It’s predicted to be in the 90’s here for the rest of the week. Stay safe

Well, the hospital messed up my appointment that was supposed to be this morning. Thankfully they figured it out before I left. I was working at home on professional development till time to leave. They schedule me for an Ultrasound again instead of the nuclear CT scan. So now the nuclear CT scan is next Wednesday. I go for injection of whatever then come back 3 hours later for the scan.

Tired from working today and there were no kiddos as it was a professional development/work day. Wonder what tomorrow will bring. I'm glad to have this week to feel good at the sedars. But I'm worried about how I'll handle work once I start the injection chemo again on Fridays, starting this Friday. I put up gefilte fish while making dinner (just put the gefilte fish roll in a pan of boiling water, cover with foil and cook for an hour or so. Going to also make meatballs in a bit. That might be the end of my cooking. DH will cook the brisket tomorrow and the chickens on Wednesday. Will giufe out who is making what side dish.

DD is in Atlanta awaiting her flight to Denver. It scheduled to leave in just over 20 minutes. She wants "real" food to eat when she gets home. I made stir fry veggie rice for dinner tonight with enough for leftover for 2!!!

Better get the meatballs up before I crash. Been up since 4:45!

Happy Passover, Karen, Cardplayer & Judy. Karen, bummer that they goofed scheduling your appt., but at least you didn't make an unnecessary trip. Glad you will gather round your family at the Seder table.

I'm as storm-ready as I can realistically be. We have Heidi's carrier sitting out with its door in it, so she's no longer spooked by it--she's realized it doesn't necessarily mean "vet." Just got my battery/crank combo radio, weather alert, and lantern. We have a tote bag with all our spare cables and charged-up power banks, as well as a dish & a spoon for Heidi (we have a case of her Senior Consult canned food and three kinds of kibble in bins down there--and two litterboxes, no waiting). We have flashlights (fresh batteries) in every room, and a Bic lighter for yahrtzeit candles should we need to use them for light.

I need to pick up our Hooked on Fish order between 3 & 5 tomorrow, hopefully when the first, weaker storm line is on its way out. The nasty stuff is predicted for about 10pm-2am, with round #3 moving in for the Wed. morning commute. Unlike last Friday, there may be a "cap" of warm air aloft keeping the systems from firing up & rotating. Latest models show the southern edge of the system at the WI state line, with severe risks up to north of the Dells. Stay safe, Mary!

I fell today for the first time in 5 years (D'OH)! This time it wasn't a shoe malfunction. In the kitchen after bending over to rotate Heidi's food dish (so she could see the food as she pushed it across the plate as she ate), I would plop my butt onto the high barstool near her feeding station to rest between trips back down to her dish. I didn't realize the stool had moved back slightly by virtue of my having stood up. So the last time I tried to sit down, my rump had nothing but thin air onto which to plop, so down I went--falling squarely on said derriere. Fortunately, it was my glutes, not anything bony, that hit the floor. I sat up easily, between the counter and the center "island" cart. But then I realized that the hardwood floor would make kneeling really painful (my TKR implant hardware is pretty close to the surface). The counter was too high to reach, and I didn't trust the cart not to roll. Of course, the stool was a bit too movable to use to pull myself up. So I butt-scooted into the den, nicely carpeted with sturdy furniture. Still had to kneel momentarily but was able to boost myself onto the loveseat and then my feet. Gotta resume those upper-body resistance and core exercises to improve my upper-body (especially arms & shoulders) strength.

Bought a new suitcase for my Ireland trip. Away introduced a new "medium flex" model with an expandable zipper, better wheels, and a bottom handle for ease of retrieval from the carousel. We have the regular medium, which is a little small for a week's worth of clothes (including toiletries, hot hair tool(s), orthotic shoes, dress shoes and a "cocktail-appropriate" outfit for a formal dinner reception in Dublin). The large is too big & unwieldy, might tempt me to overpack, and if so might exceed weight limits. The Medium Flex expands by 2", and since the only color the shop had in stock was pink, it'll be unlikely that someone else might mistake it for theirs. (Our current pieces are such a dark green that they look black). After I check it, I use my rollaboard spinner as a rolling "cane" as I negotiate the terminal corridors. Over the handle, I slip a tote large enough to fit my meds, jewelry, cables, chargers, iPad and--especially--purse into when we board--so I comply with the "one carry-on and one personal item" rule. I have to keep my meds & iPad with me at my feet beneath the seat in front of me, because sometimes airlines make me "gate-check" the rollaboard. I leave in 10 days, so the time to gather the chargers I need, fill the pouches in my meds folio, locate and fill small bottles for my hair products (hotel shampoos always have sulfates & salt so I can't use them), and dig out my dual-voltage flatiron. Maybe go to Ulta to see if they have a dual-voltage combo dryer-brush or at least ionic hot brush: all my fancy Dyson & Drybar stuff are US-voltage only (and a converter would fry their innards). Hair products & hot tools will be a necessity in the damp Irish weather (as I also learned in Amsterdam, London, Tel Aviv and NOLA).
