Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?

A warm welcome to teka, ninaca and cat_guardian.
Betrayal - 130 bags of mulch!?! I’m sure you do have’guns’ and they are hard earned and well deserved
Sandy - what a mess! Is there anyway to move back into your home and unpack the boxes as you go? Painting and minor repairs are inconvenient but perhaps doable so you don’t have to keep paying rent in Lincolnwood.
When we had our basement and first floor painted in spring we were living in the house among the boxes and dust from drywall repair and refinished floors. Once the water was turned back on, our insurance company would no longer pay for temporary housing.

It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.

Welcome teka, ninaca, & cat-guardian
I am at my little cabin in North Carolina. Since it is a holiday weekend, why not have a holiday. It is so much cooler than Florida.
I hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend.
2 -
petite1, how wonderful you were able to go to your new retreat. I hope Midnight Louie was able to tolerate the ride. Enjoy your weekend.
Snady, hoping you were able to unpack some more of those boxes. To put a positive spin on it, if the contents are not labeled, regard it as a surprise gift to make it less onerous. Soon you will reach the end, and your home will be organized and decluttered and you can pat yourself on the back for a job well-done.
harley07, yes, I did earn those "guns" and now I have to work to keep them over the fall and winter, so I'll have to find an equivalent exercise. Maybe light weights or resistance bands will help.
Today we had an early dinner (linner) with DD and DSIL before we went to see Cirque Italia. The place we ate at used to be our favorite for New Year's Eve dinners, but over the years it went from something special, to not so special, since each year they took away another attraction and became like a regular dinner there. The meal was very good, so we will return for regular dining. I had a birthday certificate which expired today and DD had a gift certificate we gave her at least 4-5 years ago which they honored. We still tip based on the total of the bill, before any deductions, so the wait staff doesn't get cheated. She was really attentive and my dessert had a candle on it.
The reviews for Cirque were all over the place, but I heartily enjoyed it. I loved the athleticism of the performers who are muscular, but not muscle bound. The contortions they can perform are amazing. It was performed with 60's music as the background and I loved that as well.
Tomorrow I need to play catch-up around here and think about packing. I want to coordinate outfits to reduce the number of clothes I take, and plan the jewelry to wear with each outfit. I always read about these people who take 10 clothing items and are able to get 14 days worth of outfits. I am amazed because I have never been able to do that and have been known to overpack. It's challenging when ports of call have different weather zones. We will be in Alaska, Victoria and Seattle, each with their own weather system.
Hope everyone had a great day. I know the last 2 for us have been very pleasant.
Waving hello to everyone.

Welcome new ladies!
Petite, so happy for you getting away from the FL heat and into your new cabin.
Sandy, you’re a trooper. I think I’ve said it before, but dang.
Betrayal, I’m glad you enjoyed your outing, as well as your meal.
We had a party to attend today. Food was great, as were the guests. The kids, including my grandniece, were still in the pool at 8 pm. It’s heated and if they were out and getting cold, they’d jump in the hot tub.
Weather today was nice and sunny, 75 I think. Tomorrow should be warmer. I’ll get back to cutting up the fence. No one was next door to ask about using the dumpster, so maybe tomorrow we’ll see someone.
I hope everyone enjoys Labor Day!2 -
I just went over the original pack-out inventory list, many items of which I either retrieved or directed to be discarded at the outset. Mind-boggling that it's taken 1100 boxes, since many of those items are freestanding applicances, suitcases & furniture. We can't move in now and unpack as we go: most of the kitchen cabinets are inaccessible; it's taken 3 of us this weekend to do 75 boxes. Disposal of the "empties" involves breaking them down for the restoration crew to haul them away, We don't have a dumpster—couldn't get a permit as the parking situation has become untenable with recent traffic reconfiguration (courtesy of our incompetent self-aggrandizing alderperson), so there'd be nowhere to put it other than our garage, which is a nonstarter. And it simply isn't safe for the kitties, who'd get lost behind the boxes and be unable to find their way out (I don't want to think about how their little bodies will egest the stress, if you know what I mean). One of the rooms where we were going to set up the third litterbox is not just full of boxes, it's going to be full of bags & bags of drycleaned clothes to be sorted, hung/put in drawers, and marked for donation,.
And then there's the matter of the kitchen & bathroom repaint (including taping, plastic sheeting, sanding, priming, etc.). Not gonna deal with VOC's until they've completely dissipated. Until then, even if we moved in, we's have to shower at the gym down the block and dine out for all meals.
The upstairs bath was not originally vented into the wall. In the early '70s, the (then) new owners put on an addition to accommodate their large family and re-convert the house to single-family (postwar, it was configured aa an illegal 2-flat; before that, the other side of the bathroom wall was the exterior). Now, the other side leads to the ceiling of the office closet in the addition. Quickest fix would be to run a duct from the fan through the office closet and out the exterior wall…likely $five figures.
Bob & I agree that once we're settled in we should convert the nonfunctional 1st floor tub & shower to a walk-in shower stall—that way they'd have to break through the tile anyway and replace the clogged corroded supply stack. We're also considering replacing the decrepit upright piano wa discarded: the little electronic keyboards may sound good and play well enough, but we can't put photos, tchotchkes (including the ginger jard containing Tabigails' & Pickles' ashes, plus crystal trophies,,a jade sculpture and miniature carousel horse ) on top of a portable keyboard. We can probably get a used upright in playable condition for under $3K.
Annoyed to find that the painters failed to replace the hanging hooks from which we hung our collection of stained glass art pieces; as well as removed all the hangers for Seder plate and painted & carved Lithuanian art plates Bob's patients made him—not to mention all the posters, etchings, cels, photos, etc. The stained glass had hung from the pass-through window beteen the living & front rooms; because the front room was also added (had been part of the porch, now enclosed), that pass-througn is in a load-bearing wall. Far be it from me to urge measures that would cause a structural collapse.—so I'll have to use stud finders. Think I should conscript the "Ask This Old House" team and bring them here?

I slept a good amount of time for the last 2 nights. So I’m hoping I’m getting reoriented to being home. It feels like it took a long time.
I went out today and bought a new leather reclining sofa. Current one is LazyBoy, the area where your back rests has a big slice in it, and another hole where the leather just gave way. I think it’s near 15 years old, but for 10 of them we’ve only been here 1/2 the year. I expected more, so disappointed.
The new one sits off the floor on legs, vs metal frame. I’m hoping the robot vacuum will fit under there (lazy!). Delivery is 9/8. Now to get rid of the old Natuzzi leather reclining sofa on the front porch. The old LazyBoy will go out on the enclosed porch. The Natuzzi one I’m hoping someone can use it in their basement or like I had it on an enclosed front porch. Asking family first, then I’ll put it on FB Marketplace - free, get it out of here. .
Never touched the mini chainsaw today. Picked up grandniece to run with me to buy the couch, stopped at Aldi’s, and took her to Chipotle. I’ll start on another bag full of burnt wood tomorrow; one bag is in the bin for pickup tomorrow.
Temps today were similar to yesterday but cloudy all day. Tomorrow it says 77 & sunny, we’ll see!Hope you all had a good holiday weekend.

Everybody busy? Super quiet.
I got out this morning about 11 to tackle the rest of the burnt fence. By 12:15 I came in to shower the sweat & soot off of me. I didn’t bag it yet.
Friends all saying I should have the insurance company pay for the fence removal. I had to remind them I’ve already received the money, and yes I could wait for the fence company- which I’m hiring last. Or I could cut it up and get it out of my sight now. I opt to get rid of it. Looking out the window & seeing that, I couldn’t stand it.
Then I chilled out to watch my soap and eat my lunch, before putting on my bathing suit and going back out. I watered everything in sight, and took the battery out of the Ring camera to recharge it. I need a solar panel to charge it so this isn’t an issue in the future, when I’m not home.
On to the deck with a book! At one point I was sweating like crazy so I hopped in the pool to cool off. Now I smell like chlorine. Better than sweat. I cleaned the skimmer and checked on the shark floating chlorine dispensers - 1 had a half dollar size piece, so I put it in the one that’s pretty full. I’m waffling on when to close the pool & take down the screen house. I did decide not to set up the tv back in the screen house; put it in the house before we left for Cape Cod. But it’s so light, if I change my mind it’s not a big deal to set up again.
I didn’t hear from my dentist today so I’ll have to call them tomorrow. I need a referral to an oral surgeon and then I’ll go from there.
Tomorrow is a follow-up with the foot surgeon. He’ll decide if I can get new orthotics or need to wait more. Orthotic appointment is on 8/8, so short notice if I’m canceling.Hoping you’re all ok and just out enjoying the day.

Regan became ill last night with multiple episodes of vomiting up large volumes of dark material mixed with mucus. She vomited before she ate, after she ate, and then again after her treat. I urged DH to take her to emergency vet because I was concerned that she was obstructed. She was not in any distress, but has been know to eat stuff in the yard. She had been out in the yard on a long lead for awhile, so we were unsure if this was when she ingested something. Fortunately, she was vomiting on the hardwood floor so it was a mess but easier to clean up.
Then I went into the family room and found that she had vomited next to her bed there, on the wood, but also caught the edge of the area rug. While I was cleaning that up, I saw she had also vomited on the rug on the other side of the coffee table. So these must have been 2 earlier bouts before those in the kitchen. Called DH at the vet and relayed this message.
The rug now needs to be sent to the cleaner because it is an antique Persian wool rug and not one I can clean. I called and they will pick it up on Thursday morning for cleaning and deodorizing. The rug is 15.5 feet by 11 feet and quite heavy so we asked DSIL to come over this evening to help us move the couch which is quite heavy. We were able to start rolling up the rug, but need DD and him to finish the job. She also got her dog bed, but it was not salvageable because it had soaked through to the filler, which is not washable. So it will have to be replaced.
The vet found she had a small obstruction, gave her some meds with IV fluids, and said we could monitor her at home or they could keep her overnight. We opted for the latter because I did not want DH to have to rush her back if she started vomiting again. She came home this morning and is on a special diet for a few days, Prilosec and Zofran. She will get fed three times a day to reduce stress on her GI tract. This was quite an expensive Labor Day, but that's the price you pay when your pet gets ill. We have Pet insurance but it doesn't cover situations like this.
Otherwise, our Labor Day was quiet, after being busy on Saturday and Sunday. The weather has been delightful and I wish it could have been as mild as this when I was actively mulching. I had started to pack some clothing for the trip and now am finding that it will be in the 70's in Seattle and Victoria, but in the 50's in Alaska. So I will have to pack accordingly.
I got up early to go get blood work done so the results will be available for my PCP visit on 9/15. I think I was the 3rd patient, and it was not as busy as I thought it would be. I was in and out in less than half an hour. Hemoglobin still not as high as it once was and I am on iron. However, all iron tests were normal so maybe I can stop taking it.
Sandy, I am kicking myself because I wanted to wash windows in the primary bedroom. What we had prior to the tree strike were Pellas that tilted in for cleaning. What we got for replacements look the same style as what we had, but do not tilt in, so I am unable to wash the outside of the windows. I am really mad at myself that I did not note this at the time they replaced them. They had our original order for comparison so I thought they would match it. So I will need to hire someone to wash 7 windows on the front and side of the house. All others are still tilt-ins. So the primary bath is a tilt-in and it is done inside and out, but the ones in the bedroom only got the inside cleaned. Won't get to all the other ones before I leave now, but doing the interior only in 2 other bedrooms will be fast. The windows in the hall bath and the guest room are on the back of the house and they remain tilt-ins.
cindyny, new couch sounds nice and I hope the roomba fits under it. Got a laugh about your musical couch moving from living room to front porch and having one to rehome.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor day and day today. Waving hello to everyone.

Petite - hope you and your beautiful cat enjoyed the holiday weekend at the cabin. Is this a year round cabin or seasonal?
Betrayal - fingers crossed that Regan is on the mend. Too bad he vomited on the area rug but it’s a good thing you are getting it cleaned quickly to prevent any damage. Have a wonderful time in Alaska.
Cindy - I continue to be amazed at your handywoman ability. There is no way I could even attempt that.
We are in the midst of deciding what to do about our backyard. Our inground pool is 21 years old and in need of significant ($$$$) repairs that are not DIY. We have rough quotes for the new liner and the entire pool cover system but we also believe there is a leak in the underground pipes and the robotic pool cleaner pump needs to be replaced. We spent the weekend weighing the pros and cons of repairing the pool or having it removed (also $$$) and decided to have it removed as we do not use the pool enough to justify the cost of the repairs. As we age, I also think maintaining and using the pool could become a safety issue.
We are in the process of getting pool removal quotes which will also include removing a stamped concrete patio that was used for our now long gone hot tub. The patio is crumbling and is a trip hazard. We will keep the lovely 12x12 pergola over it and are debating just putting in pea gravel or crushed limestone under the pergola. We have a larger brick paver patio that is in good condition and we will keep. Over the weekend DH tore down a much smaller pergola and ripped out a vine in the garden area off of the family room. That entire garden needs to be redone but it will need to wait until Spring.
We’ve been having fantastic weather which is great for walking, hiking and biking. We are leaving this weekend for a few days on the Oregon coast.
Waving ‘hi’ to all.

thanks, @betrayal!
I did decide to do the sentinel bx, I think the potential peace of mind is worth the potential risks. My surgeon did strongly recommend it.

Harley, sad to lose the pool but I get it. A gf here in NY, her mom had her pool filled in. I’m guessing filled in with dirt. It may be less expensive than removing it, if it’s available. Our above ground pool gets to be a lot of work too as we age.
I just looked up our town dump hours and costs. I think I can bag all the burnt wood and for $6 take it to the residential drop off. An old propane tank from the grill will run me $6 too. Maybe Thursday I’ll run up; tomorrow is Dr follow-up.

Welcome teka, ninaca, & cat-guardian. We're glad to have you here and will try to be your cheerleaders and guides. I also suggest you explore the sites that are specific to your diagnosis and treatment. My starting chemo 2/17 still has a private Facebook page and I have been happy to be with those ladies although I only use this site on BC.org now.
Quiet holiday weekend for us. Have a good week everyone. One day at a time, Sandy.

For as much as we travel, I hate packing. It always seems to be a challenge to decide what to take. I have pretty much determined the final contents, but am sure tomorrow will bring another revision. Thanks to DD, I have a new formal top and long skirt for the one dressy night. It's the other 6 nights that I have to plan for. Cruises thankfully have switched to a less formal dress code for the other nights. I always opt for early seating so we don't have to dress up every night. So a few less than casual tops and one dressier pair of slacks, jeans and some casual slacks plus casual tops. It will be interesting to see what makes the final cull.
Had blood work done yesterday and it was ordered by former PCP. She sent me a post today telling me the results were improved and to continue my supplemental iron and to keep B12 to once a week. I am really going to miss her since she was so caring.
DSIL loaned me his Shark stick vacuum and while I loved it, my back hurts now from the repetitive motion. It did such a good job on the area tugs in the primary bedroom, the closet and the hallway. I'm thinking I will get one for upstairs. The one we have broke and while DH fixed it, I can't manage the wand. It is rigid and hard for me to manipulate. Time to replace it since he doesn't want to vacuum that often.
Ran to CVS for prescriptions and could not figure why one was so expensive. The monthly charge was high, but this refill was double the cost. Turns out it is the 90 day charge since the PCP was able to order it now. So 3 times the dosage for only double the price, works for me.
DH is putting in stakes around the Japanese maple since the deer have decided to attack it now. He bought green fencing for the enclosure, so it will be done before I leave. This tree came with the house and was small when we moved here. The first tree strike did a lot of damage to it (it was a direct hit) and we had to sacrifice half of it hoping it would survive. It did and came back. It is now very large and is just outside the bay window in the kitchen eat in area, so I see it every day. The birds, including the hummingbird, like to hide in it and I have the hummingbird feeder right next to it. when they were restoring the house after the second tree strike, I made them build an enclosure to protect it from the roofers, gutter, and siding guys.
DD and DSIL came over last night to help us roll up the rug to send it out for cleaning. Pickup is tomorrow morning and it will be washed on Monday. I also asked them to evaluate for some repairs to the rug where it has worn. DD bought Regan a new bed and she loves it. It is smaller than what she had but it has a crease and she chooses to lie in it.
harley07, sorry to hear about your pool. Hope you can find a less costly solution for removal.
Lovely day. Temp 74 with sun and low humidity. Hope everyone has had a great day.
Waving hello to everyone.

Betrayal - cute picture of Regan. The bed looks very comfy.
As far as our pool removal, we are waiting on a quote from the guy who came over on Sunday and we have another guy coming on Friday. I believe our city has an ordinance against filling in inground pools and requires that the pool be completely removed. The removal needs to be permitted by the city so we will have to proceed as the city dictates. We will see.

Harley - I had my pool filled in 10 years ago when it was due for re-plastering & new tile after 25+ years. I wasn't supposed to be spending time in the sun after 5 MOHS surgeries for skin cancer, so had no way to clean it regularly as my son had long since grown up & moved out of state. They jack hammered the concrete and ladders & all went in the bottom before they filled up the rest of the hole with dirt. It was a ridiculous cost & yes they did have a permit. The only draw back is the company recommended I don't plant a tree in the area that might grow large since the dirt will never be packed as tight to hold the roots in our normal Houston soil. In retrospect, I wish I had originally done a lap lane and a hot tub in the beginning.
2 -
minus - I think our city’s concern is that if the pool is filled in then nothing can be put in that area (ie. Large tree, patio, deck etc). So the area must be initially filled with clay and compacted and then covered with dirt and grass planted. I live in northern Illinois and our soil is mostly clay. Our subdivision is built on what was formerly corn and soy fields.

Betrayal I love the picture of Regan. He's a sweetie. Enjoy your trip. Our boy cat is in the final stage of lymphoma so we will have to make the hard decision soon I think if he does not do so first.
Cindy I am also dealing with dental woes. Extraction and still having a bit of tenderness. Looking like a bridge for me rather than an implant.
Waving hi to everyone. My brother finally came home from the hospital today after a long stay. We are around, not traveling, and will help them as much as possible.

Betrayal, Regan is gorgeous—I hope her new bed calms her system down. I don't envy you having to medicate her with the drug cocktail—but it's easier with dogs than with cats. Trying to apply BangBang's flea med left me with some scratches—and she threw up from the stress.
Reader, so sorry about your little boy kitty—our Happy had IBD that became lymphoma. Toward the end, despite being lethargic he still had a ravenous appetite but couldn't keep food down or in—we had to medicate him transdermally in his ear pinna. He had lost so much weight and spent much of his day sitting in the "meatloaf position" (a la the Kliban cartoons) with his head pressed against the wall. We had second thoughts when he stood on his hind legs to beg for one last meal before the euthanasia vet arrived, but realized it was better to end his suffering a few days too early than one minute too late. He was almost 16.
Harley, bummer about the pool. Lots in our part of the city are barely big enough for a deck and a small lawn, so we've never had to make that decision.
One day at a time…but each one is weirder and more frustrating than the next. I was upstairs weeding out stuff from boxes; when I came down, the fridge was making a noise like a motorboat. Every time I opened the doors it stopped; but within 30 seconds of closing the doors it restarted. It's 8 years old and on its second compressor (warranteed for 10 years). But after turning off the icemaker, much online sleuthing with LG and many conversations with Abt customer service, we concluded it's not the compressor but the fan…only we don't know whether it's the fridge or the freezer fan. I did notice some icing around the gaskets where the cold air comes up from the freezer. Bob was over supervising the dry-cleaners' load-in (every square inch of hanging & surface space is taken now) and said there was no noise, so no video to send to the tech. He said to go ahead and turn the icemaker back on and hope for the best. Service call ($200) will be next Fri. the 12th, at which time they will replace those gaskets and inspect both fans. Hopefully, it'll be an inexpensive repair…till the next thing goes wrong. While Bob was at the house, I went up to Abt not just to replace the cracked screen protector on my phone (again—couldn't submit the Belkin online warranty replacement request because of a website glitch, which put me in an endless doom loop for over an hour late at night) but also to look at possible replacement fridges. LG has the highest CR customer satisfaction rating of any affordable brand (the two higher ones are Fisher & Paykel & Bosch) despite being mediocre on the reliability front. This 2018 model LG replaces a 2011 one. If I can avoid dropping $3-4K on a replacement (albeit with more bells & whistles)…but it's the model that NYTimes' Wirecutter recommends.
So the restoration company came by unannounced with (by Bob's estimate) another 100 boxes. He got through 10 of them. The cleaners, besides all the stuff they were able to save (including pillows), delivered 4 leather jackets they didn't even bother to clean because the smoke damage was too extensive or there was too much wear & tear (I could have told them that had they let me be there for the pack-out); 3 huge boxes of stuff they also didn't try to clean (alas, one item was a Gucci purse, albeit one I bought for a song at a resale shop) and 5 boxes of stuff they cleaned but couldn't meet their "exacting standards." Here's the kicker: because of that they're reducing their fee—and labeled each jacket and box "DO NOT THROW AWAY—SHOW TO YOUR INSURER." Hope I don't have to go through the boxes and photograph every item!
So another couple of pallets of boxes are yet to be delivered. Our landscaper/handyman agrees there's no more room in the house for them, so they'll take up half the garage and one of us will need to park on the street. It's our landscaper's slow season, so he'll assemble a team to help me. Looking back, I shudder to think if I'd listened to State Farm and the contractor who insisted I could move back by June 30! We'd only have to turn around and move to yet another hotel…cats and all. We have this place in Lincolnwood through October—but Bob insists no later because we are paying through the nose for it ($8500 x 4 months—-the landlord won't budge). I told him the alternative would be to give up the cats, which I am NOT willing to do (and he admits he's pretty attached to Roxy). He says they're resourceful and if they manage to get stuck behind mountains of boxes they'd find their way out. I'm less than confident about that!
Those boxes are infuriating—not just because there are so much more of them than the volume of what we had lived with comfortably pre-fire, but because they're incorrectly labeled as to both contents and rooms. We're finding kitchen stuff in the living room, front room stuff in the upstairs office, etc. And everything marked "books" and "paperwork" has instead lots of loose miscellany—including remotes for the AV components packed randomly. And the basement fridge is not only not yet plugged in (they haven't delivered its shelves), it's in the wrong place (on an angle in the corner instead of right next to the dryer) so I have to squeeze behind it to reach the breaker box. They didn't move the dryer over enough to the left to be closer to the washer (they filled the space between the two machines with…boxes of course).
So the plan is to do one room at a time. (Will take an hour off to get my updated COVID shot). We left one room (the den) free to use as a staging area. We'll start with the kitchen, then dining room and master BR. At this point we can barely make a path through—it's worse than one of those hoarder shows (or "Grey Gardens")!

It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.

Betrayal, Regan looks beautiful and comfortable too!
Harley, I figured there was some rule or requirement for the pool to be removed vs filled in.
Sandy, it just never ends.
Reader, my sympathies to your dental work. I picked up the referral yesterday, and made an appointment for 9/10 with the oral surgeon group. I have a regular cleaning on 9/8. It seems as I age it’s fix one tooth issue to wait for the next one to appear.
Taco, a quiet holiday weekend is a good holiday weekend.
I’m up early and dressed immediately. The power washing team should be here before 10. Originally said between 9-10, but I wanted to be up and functional. The owners daughter is starting school this morning and they’re all waiting for the bus.
We’re getting the house, the fence and the retaining wall cleaned. Our cars are parked next door in the firehouse lot. And the firehouse guys were nice enough to put orange cones next to the house so no one parks there blocking the power washing truck. I hope this goes smoothly.
After they leave I think I’ll head to the town landfill to get rid of the wood. It’s supposed to be beautiful out today, but by 8 PM or later the rains will move in. I can live with that - sunny day and water the lawn when it’s dark.
Speaking of dark, we had daylight in Ireland until near 9. Right now my sunset here is at 7:42 PM. I miss the day light! I checked Dublin for today it said 8:06, so maybe it just felt like 9. HA!

Thanks for the comments on Regan. She is female and not named by us, or it would be more feminine. Those in the know, know she is a 5 year old rescue that we adopted just about 3 years ago. She is chomping at the bit because her latest episode of vomiting means she is on this GI restricted diet until tomorrow, so no treats. She has come a long way since we adopted her, but she still doesn't like other dogs, except those that she selects. She loves the cats though and since she lives with 2, that's a good thing.
I am packed except for a few last minute additions such as make-up case and hair care one. I tried to pack something for the warmer days, the colder days, and the rainy days as well as one dressy outfit. I do have a couple of tops that can be dressed up if needed. Carry on bag still needs a few items added such as medications.
DS came down to help DH repair the panel under his car that was dragging as a result of him hitting a speed bump at a higher speed. It is in one of the local towns side streets to prevent speeds above 25 and he wasn't paying attention. We hit it hard. He was able to restore it to its original position using his car ramps.
It's a warm, but breezy day. Temp close to 80 and sunny. DH installed last stake for fence around Japanese Maple and has temporary fencing around it. He needs to plant grass seed in bare areas and wants to take his time attaching fencing. He will need help, he's just too stubborn to admit it.
My back is still in spasm in spite of Tizanidine last night and Lidocaine patch today. I did 2 loads of laundry and ironed some clothing from yesterday's laundry. Remade bed, and all clothing put away. Waiting for Fitbit to charge so I can pack chargers for phone and it.
Rug picked up by guys from the cleaners today and I ordered a Shark Rocket stick vacuum from Boscov's. I was using my DSIL's yesterday and liked it. It will replace the old one we had upstairs that I can no longer use; only DH can manage it and he doesn't really like to vacuum. It can be picked up today, so DSIL will swing by to get it. They live close to the store.
They will come here tonight so we can leave by 6 AM tomorrow for out 9 AM flight to Seattle. We will get in around noon there but considering it was a 6 hour flight and early rising I will be tired. DD wants to go to Pike Place Market so I will go with her once we settle in the hotel.
Today will be the last day I can post the daily quote until I return. With no internet access on the ship due to cost, I won't be posting either. Sorry you won't be subjected to my lengthy gab sessions. Hope everyone has a great day and days while I am gone. Waving hello/goodbye to everyone.

canarycat, she is our 5th Dalmatian. Our last, Lita, lived to be 14 and the one before her, Kimber, made 15 years and 2 months. We had her for the full 15 years and 1 week. She was so large by 7 weeks, her mom weaned her and her breeder, a vet, let her go early.
