suzieq64, warm welcome to the club no one wants to join, but those of us who have, are known for being supportive for all who post or lurk. Please feel free to vent, discuss treatment and to ask questions during this venture. Many of us have finished treatment or are far enough along that we tend to discuss day to day activities, hobbies or just family milestones. Please feel free to chime in and let us offer you support.
Today is my birthday and it was also my DF's so I miss sharing this occasion with him. He always joked I was his most expensive birthday gift, but as the only girl in the family, I was also his princess. I miss being called that and I miss him. DH gave me a dozen yellow roses which are my favorite rose color. We have a family party slated for Sunday and yesterday my BFF called to say she was able to find a ride after her children bailed due to a prior commitment, her DB then bailed after his children announced they were coming for the weekend and she was scrambling to find someone to drive here. She's a bit over an hour away and a friend of her deceased DH's said he would be honored to bring her. MY DD and DSIL met him at her birthday party in May which we missed due to being in Ireland.
I thought today was supposed to be a decent weather day after listening to the weather report last night. Why do I bother listening? It was warm, humid and after about an hour I called it quits. I did some finish up weeding and spread the last 3 bags of the original 80 I had ordered. I put it where the landscaped bed from last year abutted the new landscaped area from this year. I didn't have enough to finish the area though and will send DH to Home Depot for about 10 more bags. This area will need about 4-5 more bags applied and I have another area on the daffodil hill that could use some more. When I finish, I'll post photos. The plants are plum yews, deutzia (beautiful, delicate white flowers when it blooms) and creamy hellebores. They seem to have adapted well to this somewhat shady area and really add some interest to that steep hill. DH says the slope is about 30 degrees which is why footing is such a challenge to work on it.
Landscaper finally sent his bill for the work today even though he did the work over a week ago. Nice to be trusted though he has done multiple projects for us. I am so glad he was the one I selected to initially replace our front walkway and to build a stone wall around my beloved lilac. He listened to what I wanted and developed a plan based on what I wanted unlike the other company I met with where my wants were totally ignored. Plus his bid was more realistic and I was able to get my flagstone patio and a garden stone wall of it realigned, too. And they put a paver wall around the patio to keep it in alignment. He employs wonderful workers who respect the property while working on it and clean up after themselves. When they finished the walkway and stone walls for the bushes, they had leftover product that I had paid for. They told me my options were to keep it or if they took it, they would have to toss it. There was nothing wrong with any of it, but they were ethically not permitted to reuse it for another job. Honesty appreciated. We decide to keep it and it became the basis for the fire pit seating area I built after watching what they did to prepare the site. We had to buy the underlayment materials for the pavers and the sand to seal the joints, but none of the leftovers ended up being discarded. We actually had some pavers leftover that we sold cheaply to someone who needed them to finish their project. Win-win situation.
DD and DSIL just dropped in. They are headed to the pool his parents are members of. They can swing by Home Depot on their way back here as well as picking up a takeout dinner for tonight. So I don't need to send DH to get mulch. Dinner will be from an Italian restaurant, yum.
Taco, I love the chair seats you did and admire you for having the patience to do them. They are lovely and they usually wear like iron. You said there were 8 chairs, were they all the same design? Loved the ladies you display in your guest bath.
Finally remembered to call car dealer's to schedule an appointment for an annual inspection and oil change. Because I do "drop off", they are able to take me next Tuesday.
Hope everyone has a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.
