I was thinking of the 6 hours between you and smithlme, then the time from there to me. It's more like 9 hours on I-5.

Can I come too? I may be able to get there before her if I get the next flight out. What airport shall I arrive at. Matter of fact, Joni can you give me a lift from the airport since you're driving anyway?

BFL is the closest. I'll pick you up.

Oh sorry, missed the flight. Guess I'll have to pass although those pork chops are calling my name.0

School's out here! I'm officially bummed. DD will be here ALL the time---my quiet time @ lunch when I come home from work is over for 3 months. Aargh!

Thought I'd catch you off guard and say a good-morning for a change!!! 9.15am here, must go and Wii Fit before I get side tracked on anything like house work etc!!! Sun is shining, DH away for the day and DD heading off in about an hour - and once I have Mum sorted out I might go for a walk.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Was I on the right track, Ainm?

Jog my memory Meece - you are probably referring back to something but I'm so dense I'm not putting it together.
I'm so tired - I'm happy I got my Wii done early because I am not going for a walk, too tired. Spent a few hours with mum and it is so draining. Hope that tomorrow will not be so trying. I feel so guilty that I can't do this with more enthusiasm.
Waiting to see does DS contact me online this evening. Haven't heard from him since last weekend.
Maybe I'll make a pot of tea while I'm waiting - how many cups should I put out??

I'm ready Ainm! Love the new avatar. I wish they were bigger so we could have more detail though!

Evening all (sleep well Ainm).
Ainm, when you are on again let us know how your DS is doing over here. Does he relate his experiences to you or short answers like our children are known to do? Any case, let us know.
Night all.

Ainm..Your new avatar is very nice.
Ladies you made me LOL about teenager talk. I remember those 1 word answers or pretending they didn't here you. when they were in their late teens and cranky my DD was reading a book, i just tried to make a conversation by asking what she was reading. Her answer was ' A book"
Or where are you going / Answer ' OUT '.
I will take some tea with lemon please.
Good Night!

Or with who? / Answer 'a friend' - friends never had names!
Where do they live? / Answer 'I don't know'. Guess they just rolled out of a cave somewhere!
I look at young parents now and think - 'Oh, you just don't know!'

I was wondering if my translation of your last message was on the right track. Ainm. I love your new avatar. Makes me think I should update mine, but I don't have anything good to change to.

I remember those days, The kids could sure get to their friends houses, but they never knew where they lived. Last names? You mean they are important? Phone number? Uh, he only calls me...
Frustration!!! And they knew it.

You would think that my youngest at 19 would be done with the teenage stuff. I guess living at home makes her seek her privacy a little more than my other two who moved out during college. All I know is she will be home by 11:30. She keeps me informed but only the minimum. Her being the youngest is harder on me too. I'm use to a house full of kids and during the summer it gets pretty quiet around here.
The one question I never get a decent response to is: Do they have a home phone? I'm starting to think we are the only cave people with a land line anymore.

Have you had the experience that when you try to get a hold of your teen, and they don't answer, that their phone must have messed up?

I count myself one of the lucky ones. No children arrested, alcoholic or addicted to drugs. Just normal wear and tear of life.

Hi all. Just peeked in yesterday and today also. Pray all are doing well.
Good for you Meece. You did that without a manual!

I also did it with a #*&^-ty husband.
But I like your line, too, Patoo!!!

Had DS over for dinner and just got him out the door. We had to watch the Lakers win first! It was a nice evening.

Hi all.
Night all!
Enjoy the weekend.

Evening all - sorry I haven't said hello in a while it's been a bit hectic here.
Meece - as always your Irish is impeccable, I take my hat off to you!!!
Patoo - DS is touching base with us at the weekends. He's finding his feet slowly but surely. There was no delph or cutlery in the apartment he rented so he took home some of the disposable cutlery from the canteen at his work place and he bought a few bits and pieces. He is finding it hard to buy fresh food, most things seem to be pre-packed and the fresh stuff he found is quite pricey. He says there doesn't seem to be anyone under the age of 30 around except for a couple of interns working where he is and staying in the same apartment block. He is the only one who seems to have a cooker so the other two sometimes drop in to have him cook stuff for them. He'll be fine - he's always had an adventurous spirit and at 23 he is sensible enough (I hope!!). He was going to make his way into NY last weekend to explore!!
Seyla, Eph, Jo, Paulding, Gilly and Garfield hope you are all doing well.

Thanks for the update on your DS Ainm. You are right, at 23 he will be okay. It's a great experience and I would live to hear what he shares with you about his NY experience.
Hi to everyone. Hope the weekend is going well.

I was at a wedding today-a young lady I've known since she was about 2. The 1st time I taught VBS, she was a kindergartner in my class. She has been my main babysitter for DD since DD was about 7 & the girl who got married has been my housesitter/petsitter since I've doing the single parent thing. She's 21 & gorgeous & I cried like a baby through the whole afternoon. It was a stunning wedding; red, white & black for colors-it was beautiful! I can't sleep because I ate too much & had too much fun!

Joni, that's so special. Happy you had fun and you'll just have to do a double exercise routine but it was worth it.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.

It was really nice. I made DH a lemon cake and had two narrow slices myself. DH had 3 helpings. I guess he liked it. Unfortunately I did, too. Hopefully he will take the rest to work tomorrow.

My Father's Day was nice but poignant. Dad has definitely moved from early midstage Alzheimers to probably early end stage. I took him to church with me; he's always liked mine better than the one he goes to with my step-mom--he likes that my church does communion every Sunday; he's sung in different Easter & Christmas cantatas with me, etc. Today as we were approaching the building, he peered at it and said like he had no idea he'd ever been there before, "So, have you been coming to this church for a long time?" It broke my heart. Later in the afternoon, I took him to what had been his favorite watering hole. When we pulled up in the parking lot he said, "I remember this place. Do you think my kids will be here?" I'm the only kid that lives here; brother & sister live 5 & 3 hours away respectively and neither have a very close relationship with him as adults. I'm definitely needing to start preparing myself, as much as one can I guess. Didn't mean to throw out a downer but needed to get it out of me. Night. Hope y'all have a good week coming up. Can you believe June is almost over?
